Seahawks | Jaxon Smith-Njigba a top producer in 2025 Tue Jan 27, 12:06 AM
Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba averaged 105.5 yards per game during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: If there was a reminder needed of how valuable Smith-Njigba is to what the Seahawks want to do offensively, it came against the Rams in the Conference Championship. He had 10 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown in the victory. That kind of role doesn't happen by accident. It's also likely to persist. His monstrous workload is why Smith-Njigba finished the 2025 regular season as the WR2 overall, behind only Puka Nacua. Expect to pay a premium for JSN this summer.

Seattle Seahawks LB Drake Thomas (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the NFC Championship game, but head coach Mike Macdonald said the team does not have an update on his status at this point.

Seattle Seahawks OT Charles Cross (foot) will likely have to deal with soreness in his foot but should be ready to play in Super Bowl LX, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) is dealing with soreness in his oblique, but it is not believed to be a serious issue, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Footballguys view: The 28-year-old Darnold earned his second straight Pro Bowl honor this campaign after recording 25 passing touchdowns and 14 interceptions in the regular season. He's gone 37-for-53 with 470 passing yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions across Seattle's two playoff games -- while playing through the oblique issue. He's all but certain to do the same against the Patriots in Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8.

Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold completed 25 of his 36 passes for 346 yards and three touchdowns and gained nine rushing yards on three carries in a 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game. RB Kenneth Walker III rushed 19 times for 62 yards and a touchdown and caught four passes for 49 yards, and RB George Holani served as the backup, rushing three times for four yards and gaining 27 yards on three receptions. Jaxon Smith-Njigba was Darnold's top target, catching 10 of his 12 targets for 153 yards and a touchdown. WR Cooper Kupp chipped in four receptions for 36 yards and a score, and WR Rashid Shaheed's lone catch went for 51 yards. TE AJ Barner finished with two catches for 13 yards, and WR Jake Bobo hauled in a 17-yard touchdown. LB Ernest Jones led the way for the defense, finishing with a team-high 8 tackles, including six solo stops. DL DeMarcus Lawrence recorded Seattle's only sack, and CB Riq Woolen broke up a pair of passes.
Footballguys view: Though the Seahawks' vaunted defense was solid, it was the play of Darnold and Smith-Njigba that carried the day. It was fitting that Darnold starred in this one after leading Seattle to a 14-3 record and the NFC's No. 1 seed during the regular season. Still, there were questions about his big-game ability. But now, Darnold has Seattle in the biggest game of all in a season that did not begin with Super Bowl expectations. The Seahawks will face the New England Patriots in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX.

Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold fumbled 11 times during the 2025 regular season, which was tied for the most in the NFL.
Footballguys view: Darnold committed 20 total turnovers, consisting of 14 interceptions and 6 fumbles lost during the regular season. Despite this high turnover count -- leading the league in that category -- he led Seattle to the playoffs with a 67.7 percent completion rate. Darnold finished the regular season as the QB14 in total points. But his 14.3 points per game ranked 26th in the league.

The Seattle Seahawks have declared TE Robbie Ouzts, OT Amari Kight, QB Jalen Milroe, TE Elijah Arroyo, DE Jared Ivey, RB Velus Jones Jr. and OG Christian Haynes inactive for Conference Championships.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) will start the NFC Championship Game versus the Los Angeles Rams Sunday, Jan. 25, even though he split reps at quarterback in practice during the week with QB Drew Lock because of a lingering oblique issue. He will receive a pain-killing injection and is likely to throw in the locker room as part of an altered pregame routine that will be similar to his preparation for last week's Divisional Round playoff contest versus the San Francisco 49ers.

Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III is expected to serve as the team's workhorse running back in the NFC Championship Game versus the Los Angeles Rams, with RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) sidelined. RBs Cam Akers and George Holani will serve as backups, according to a source, with several packages designed for each player.

Seattle Seahawks RBs Cam Akers and Velus Jones Jr. were elevated from the practice squad Saturday, Jan. 24, ahead of the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Footballguys view: That duo, along with George Holani, who was activated from injured reserve this week, will provide depth behind starter Kenneth Walker III after Zach Charbonnet suffered a season-ending knee injury in last weekend's win over the 49ers.

Seattle Seahawks LB Chazz Surratt (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 23, but has been ruled out of the NFC Championship game. OT Amari Kight (knee) did not practice and is listed as doubtful. FB Robbie Ouzts (neck) was limited during practice and is listed as questionable. OT Joshua Jones (ankle, knee) fully participated in practice but is listed as questionable. QB Sam Darnold (oblique) and WR Cooper Kupp (non-injury) were limited during practice but are not on the injury report. TE Elijah Arroyo (knee), OT Charles Cross (foot), RB George Holani (hamstring), LB Tyrice Knight (shoulder), LB DeMarcus Lawrence (non-injury), LB Uchenna Nwosu (hamstring), WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (non-injury) and DE Leonard Williams (non-injury) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 23, and is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.
Footballguys view: Smith-Njigba's limited participation on Wednesday appears to be nothing more than preferential treatment ahead of a big conference championship game. The Year 2 receiver has broken out in a major way this year and should serve as the Seahawks' primary weapon in a home game against the Rams.

Seattle Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp (non-injury) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 23, but is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.
Footballguys view: All signs point to this limited participation being nothing more than some veteran rest. Kupp caught all five of his targets for 60 yards last week, stepping up when the lights are the brightest. He should work as the secondary option in the passing game behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba this week in a revenge game against the Rams.

Link to storySeattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) was limited during practice Friday, Jan. 23, but is not on the injury report for the NFC Championship game.
Footballguys view: Darnold played through this injury last week, and there's no expectation he won't again this week. He'll have a tough matchup against a strong Rams' defense, but his upside always keeps him on the radar as a player to watch.

Seattle Seahawks OG Bryce Cabeldue (knee) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Jan. 23.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) was placed on injured reserve on Friday, Jan. 23.
Footballguys view: Charbonnet suffered a significant knee injury last week. He hopes to make a quick recovery, but it's expected he might not be ready for the start of the season. In Charbonnet's absence through the playoffs, Kenneth III will have no competition for meaningful touches. George Holani will likely be active, but the Seahawks should lean heavily on Walker. This offseason, the Seahawks will likely be shaken up, as Walker is a pending free agent.

Link to storySeattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 22.
Footballguys view: There's little doubt that Darnold is going to play in the NFC Championship Game against the Rams. The divisional rivals know each other well and split the season series. So long as Darnold takes care of the ball, Seattle can advance to the Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III faces the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, and in two meetings with the Rams in the regular season, Walker rushed for 167 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries and caught six passes for 108 yards.
Footballguys view: Walker is a key player for the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game. We'll see what the Rams have in store to stop the powerful runner. Without Zach Charbonnet, Walker is going to get a heavy workload on Sunday.
Seattle Seahawks TE AJ Barner faces the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, and Barner recorded 14 receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown in the two meetings with the Rams in the regular season.
Footballguys view: Barner is more accurately described as a not-so-secret weapon. The Rams are going to be ready for the Seahawks aerial attack, and that means they'll have a plan for Barner.
Seattle Seahawks OT Charles Cross (foot), OT Joshua Jones (ankle, knee) and OT Amari Kight (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 21. Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) will be day-to-day this week, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. 'Balancing making sure we get enough reps at the proper tempo, with the proper looks, you know, and getting Sam the reps he needs,' Macdonald said Monday, Jan. 19.
Footballguys view: Darnold, who played through an oblique injury suffered in last Thursday's practice, Macdonald said there were no setbacks. "To my knowledge, he's good," Macdonald said. "He didn't make it worse or anything, but I'm sure he's sore. This is something that we're going to have to navigate the rest of the week." Macdonald said there was almost no doubt that Darnold would play, even on the day the injury happened, both because of the way he responded to the setback and because of the toughness he has shown the team this season. We'll be monitoring Darnold's progress all week. Stay tuned.

Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III matched a franchise record with three rushing touchdowns, 116 rushing yards and 19 carries in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: That was the Walker that fantasy investors who landed him last summer expected all season. With Zach Charbonnet suffering a torn ACL against the 49ers, Walker will have ample opportunity against the Rams this week. Walker is currently the only healthy running back on the 53-man roster, but the Seahawks also have veteran backs Velus Jones Jr and Cam Akers on the practice squad. Additionally, George Holani, who has been on injured reserve since late November due to a hamstring injury, could be a candidate to return. However, he has not yet be designated to return to practice.
Seattle Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed had a 95-yard kickoff return for touchdown to open the NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers to open the game.
Footballguys view: It was just the third postseason kickoff return for touchdown in franchise history, and only the 28th kickoff return for touchdown in a playoff game in NFL history.
Seattle Seahawks RBs Cam Akers and/or Velus Jones Jr. could be options to fill in behind RB Kenneth Walker III, according to head coach Mike Macdonald on Monday, Jan. 19, now that RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) is out for the rest of the playoffs.

Seattle Seahawks RB George Holani (hamstring) is an option to return from the Reserve/Injured list, head coach Mike Macdonald said Monday, Jan. 19. Holani was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Nov. 29 due to a hamstring injury. 'I think we'll just let this play out this week,' Macdonald said, as the team scrambles to find a replacement for RB Zach Charbonnet (knee).
Link to storySeattle Seahawks OT Joshua Jones (knee) could possibly return to practice this week, head coach Mike Macdonald indicated Monday, Jan. 19.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks OT Charles Cross (foot) is considered day-to-day because of a foot injury, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (knee) suffered a significant knee injury during the Divisional Round playoff game and will need to undergo surgery, according to head coach Mike Macdonald.
Footballguys view: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the injury is a torn ACL. That makes sense. While Macdonald didn't reveal the exact nature of the injury, he said Charbonnet would face "a long road back," potentially hinting at the running back missing time next season. Throughout the regular season, Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker combined to give the Seahawks a fearsome rushing attack. The team ranked 10th in the NFL with 2,096 rushing yards in 2025. Walker led the way with 1,027 yards, but Charbonnet was the hammer, scoring 12 of the team's 19 rushing scores.

Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold completed 12 of his 17 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in a 41-6 win over the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round. RB Kenneth Walker III rushed 19 times for 106 yards and three touchdowns and caught three passes for 29 yards. WR Cooper Kupp caught five passes for a team-high 60 yards, and WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba had three grabs for 19 yards and a score. WR Rashid Shaheed gained 27 yards on two carries, and he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. TE AJ Barner was not targeted, but he did have a two-yard carry. LB Ernest Jones IV had six tackles and an interception, and DL Leonard Williams and DL DeMarcus Lawrence both recorded a sack.
Footballguys view: The Seahawks scored on the first play of the game when Rashid Shaheed return the kickoff for a score, and they were up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter. It just got worse from there for the 49ers. The Seahawks pass offense didn't have to break a sweat, so it wasn't a big statistical game for Sam Darnold, but Ken Walker dominated a banged up 49ers defense and Darnold didn't show ill effects from the oblique injury he suffered during the practice last week. The Seahawks will host the NFC title game next week.
