Arizona Cardinals RB Bam Knight will be the 'first one out there' at running back in Week 9 against the Dallas Cowboys on Monday, Oct. 3, head coach Jonathan Gannon said Saturday. However, it appears it will be a hot-hand approach, with RB Michael Carter expected to be promoted from the practice squad, and RB Emari Demercado returning from injury.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (foot) will not start in Week 9 but could have a role in the game if active, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: Jacoby Brissett is going to start for the Cardinals in Week 9. The passing offense should be more efficient with him instead of Murray under center. Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon has insisted Murray would be the starter when fully healthy, and apparently he needed more time to recover from this foot injury. If he's not healthy enough to start, we'd be surprised if they put him in as a subpackage player (if active).

Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett will be the starting quarterback for the Week 9 game, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: No real surprise here. The Cardinals cancelled Kyler Murray's media availability earlier in the week, and Brissett has taken the first-team reps. Brissett is a more efficient passer, and the passing game should be more effective. This is a boost for guys like TE Trey McBride and WR Marvin Harrison Jr. Brissett is an option for Fantasy GMs in start-2 QB/superflex leagues.

Free-agent WR Jalen Brooks (Cowboys) and TE Messiah Swinson (49ers) were signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad Thursday, Oct. 30.
Link to storyArizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (foot) is preparing to start for the team, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: It's a Monday night game against the Cowboys in Week 9, and Murray is likely to make a return after a two-game absence. Murray faces a Cowboys defense that is soft, so he could be a better-than-expected starter in his return. With the way Jacoby Brissett looked as the starter, there's pressure on Murray to be more efficient and effective as a passer. Trey McBride had three touchdowns with Brissett in two games and only one touchdown with Murray in five games.

The Cardinals released veteran RB Michael Carter, per the wire.
Footballguys view: Carter has been sharing the workload with Bam Knight while Trey Benson recovers from a knee injury. This move leaves Emari Demercado as the third-down option, with Knight likely to handle all the early-down work. The Cardinals play the Cowboys on Monday Night Football this week.

McBride had a season-high 29.4 fantasy points in the Week 7 loss to the Packers, catching 10 of a team-high 13 targets for 74 yards and two touchdowns.
Footballguys view: McBride now has over 20 points in back-to-back games -- with Jacoby Brissett at quarterback -- and at least one touchdown grab in each. As ESPN.com's Matt Bowen notes, McBride always carries a high floor in the Arizona offense due to his consistent target volume (9.3 targets per game), but the touchdown production separates him as the top TE in fantasy. The Cardinals head into their Week 8 bye, and starting quarterback Kyler Murray (foot) should be expected to return for the Week 9 matchup versus Dallas, where McBride will be primed for another big performance.
Arizona Cardinals RB Michael Carter rushed seven times for 11 yards in Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers, while adding two receptions and 25 yards on two targets.

Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Cardinals in Week 7 since QB Kyler Murray (foot) is still recovering from his injury.
Footballguys view: Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort was non-committal when asked if Murray would remain the starting quarterback. Simply put, the offense runs better with Brissett in the lineup. In Week 6, Jacoby Brissett threw for 320 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Murray suffered this foot injury in Week 5, so perhaps the team just wants to give him an ample amount of time to recover.

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Wilson (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.
Footballguys view: As noted in the Bam Knight write-up, both of these running backs are risky flexes in this matchup. Carter had a slight edge in touches last week, making him our preferred back, but only by a small margin.

Arizona Cardinals RB Bam Knight (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.
Footballguys view: Knight was named the starter before kickoff last year. Michael Carter started. Knight punched in a touchdown. Carter had more touches. This backfield has all the makings of a headache. Our rankings have a slight lean towards Carter this week, but both are risky flexes against a stout Packers defense.
Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.
Footballguys view: There was fear that Harrison would miss some time after a scary concussion in Week 6. The Year 2 receiver started producing a bit over the two weeks before he left last week. We're ranking him as a WR3, as he may draw tough coverage from Keisean Nixon.
Arizona Cardinals WR Zay Jones (knee) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.
Footballguys view: Jones started the week with back-to-back DNPs, so he's trending in the right direction. He's coming off his best game of the season, but it's hard to trust him at all in this matchup, especially with news that Marvin Harrison Jr. will be active.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (foot) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 7.
Footballguys view: After logging some limited practices, Murray might be trending toward a return this week, but the coaching staff has been quiet so far. With a late afternoon kickoff on Sunday, fantasy managers should look for an alternate ahead of time. We'll hope for more information before the early games kick off.

Arizona Cardinals RB Emari Demercado (ankle) has been ruled out of the Week 7 game, according to head coach Jonathan Gannon.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Demercado hasn't practiced since missing the second half of Sunday's loss to the Colts. Michael Carter took on more passing-down work in Demercado's absence, while Bam Knight got more playing time and carries. Carter and Knight figure to split work against the Packers this Sunday, with D'Ernest Johnson or Jermar Jefferson potentially promoted from the practice squad for depth.
Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Wilson (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 16.
