Eagles | Steven Nelson joins Eagles Sun Jul 25, 02:34 PM
Free-agent CB Steven Nelson (Steelers) signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, July 25. Financial terms were not disclosed. The team also released DT Willie Henry.
|Footballguys view: Nelson could be an instant starter opposite Darius Slay. He's an upgrade for this secondary and a cheap one. Nelson will reportedly sign for four million dollars, significantly less than he was going to make with the Steelers before they released him.|

Eagles | Zach Ertz staying put? Wed Jul 21, 02:31 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has 'a great chance' to be on the roster to begin the season, according to sources via Howard Eskin of 94 WIP Radio. Per Eskin, Ertz has been working out at the team facility for the last two weeks.
|Footballguys view: Howie Roseman would still prefer to trade Ertz, but this could be a sign that the team has no plans to release him, or at least want to posture that with Ertz carrying an 8.5 million price tag and no one willing to pay their asking price in a trade. If Ertz stays, Dallas Goedert's outlook takes a hit, while if he leaves, he'll be likely to take over the primary receiving tight end job in Buffalo, Jacksonville, or Indianapolis.|

Eagles | Dallas Goedert to be busy? Sat Jul 17, 09:29 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert's 46 catches and 524 receiving yards in 2020 both ranked second on the team, and he will 'be a focal point' of the offense in 2021, according to an NFC executive.
|Footballguys view: Goedert could move into the top 5-6 tight ends this year as long as Zach Ertz is traded or released before the season. Jalen Hurts quality of play is another important variable, and it's yet to be determined who Hurts favorite target will be in the pass offense. Goedert is a solid target after T.J. Hockenson and Kyle Pitts are off of the board.|

Eagles | Landon Dickerson likely to avoid PUP list Sat Jul 17, 02:55 PM
Philadelphia Eagles C Landon Dickerson (knee) likely will not start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list but probably will be limited during camp. He could push for a starting job if he is able to take part in practice.
|Footballguys view: Jason Kelce is still holding down the pivot for the Eagles so there's no rush for Dickerson to get back on the field. He'll provide strong guard depth at worst and hopefully project as a long term starter sooner than later.|
Eagles | Rookie WR Smith Impressing Teammates Mon Jul 12, 12:49 PM
In a recent interview on NFL Network, Philadelphia Eagles OT Lane Johnson talked about how impressed he was with rookie WR DeVonta Smith. "We call him the 'Slim Reaper,'" Johnson said during a Monday interview on NFL Network. "He's impressed early on in camp, his change of direction, his ball skills. He doesn't say a whole lot, but he does show a whole lot of what he's capable of. I think when you have a guy that high caliber, I think he does nothing but bring everybody else along in the receiving corps. So we're excited about him. I think he's going to do tremendous things this year. And yeah, the Slim Reaper -- watch out for him."
|Footballguys view: Smith's game is all about speed, speed and more speed. The Heisman Trophy winner can be a dangerous asset for the Eagles offense. Not only does Smith have speed to take the top off the defense, he's got an incredible nose for the end zone with 37 touchdown grabs over the last two seasons at Alabama. Fantasy GMs are looking at him as a WR3/flex play in 2021, and Smith has a current ADP of WR31 (7.06) in 12-team PPR leagues.|

Eagles | Jordan Howard not a roster lock Thu Jul 8, 01:14 PM
Philadelphia Eagles RB Jordan Howard is on the roster bubble in training camp, in the opinion of ESPN's Tim McManus who notes that since Howard reg-signed with the team in April, the Eagles have drafted Kenneth Gainwell and signed free agent Kerryon Johnson.
|Footballguys view: No surprise here. Howard is back with the Eagles but he's a two-down thumper who comes off the field on passing downs. The addition of Gainwell and Johnson means that Howard is going to have a tough time making the 53-man roster. We'll see how he competes in training camp. Howard's one-year deal with the Eagles includes no guaranteed money, and he admitted no other team reached out in free agency. Needless to say, the market will not be thriving for his services if he doesn't make the Eagles final roster.|

Eagles | Jalen Hurts has work to do as passer Wed Jun 30, 03:24 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was credited with a bad throw on 26.7 percent of his pass attempts in 2020 - the highest rate for any quarterback with at least 125 pass attempts last season.
|Footballguys view: Hurts is a work in progress as a passer. He's athletic and has the arm strength to make any throw in the NFL. Hurts needs to speed up his process as a passer. He needs to trust his eyes faster and become better when it comes to accuracy and pass placement. The Eagles are giving him this season to do just that, and they've continued to add weapons around him in the passing game. His rushing ability make him a low-end QB1 for Fantasy GMs, and if he improves as a passer then he could become a set-it-and-forget-it starter each week.|
Eagles | Andre Dillard eyeing vindication Mon Jun 21, 11:29 PM

Eagles | Jack Stoll headed for roster spot? Fri Jun 18, 10:36 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Jack Stoll has a 'pretty strong shot' of making the 53-man roster, according to Mike Kaye of NJ.com.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles like Stoll, an undrafted rookie out of Nebraska, and that's why they gave him the largest contract of any of their UDFAs this year. He can make tough catches and displayed some straight-line speed for the Cornhuskers. Some compare him to Dawson Knox and some feel Stoll should be an H-back to make it in the NFL. Either way, Stoll is the type of player we love monitoring in super deep dynasty formats.|
Eagles | Greg Ward positioned for steady role? Fri Jun 18, 10:32 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Greg Ward Jr. will enter training camp as one top four receivers, according to Mike Kaye of NJ.com.
|Footballguys view: Ward had 53 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns last year. As the no.4 receiver in 2021 he's unlikely to match those numbers this season. Ward will work for a role behind rookie first-round pick DeVonta Smith, 2020 first-round pick Jalen Reagor and Travis Fulgham.|
Eagles | Travis Fulgham tabbed for big role? Fri Jun 18, 10:28 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Travis Fulgham will likely be featured in three-receiver sets to begin training camp, according to Mike Kaye of NJ.com.
|Footballguys view: Fulgham started out 2020 with some strong performances, including a 10-catch, 152 yard (and one touchdown) game against the Steelers in Week 5. Things went downhill for him a bit after that as the previous staff felt there were some work ethic questions. Fulgham has the talent and with a new staff and a fresh start he could end up emerging as a trusted target. From a fantasy perspective, Fulgham is a name to remember and keep on your waiver wire speed dial if he hits.|

Eagles | Nick Mullens joining Eagles Mon Jun 14, 02:12 PM
Free-agent QB Nick Mullens (49ers) agreed to terms with the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, June 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Mullens got his chance to start with the 49ers last year and was inconsistent as the day is long. Now, he's trying to earn a spot on the Eagles roster behind starter Jalen Hurts and veteran backup Joe Flacco. He's a camp arm right now and if he makes the 53-man roster it will be to hold a clipboard as a no.3 quarterback.|

Eagles | Richard Rodgers back with Eagles Fri Jun 11, 02:51 PM
Free-agent TE Richard Rodgers (Eagles) signed with the Philadelphia Eagles Friday, June 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Rodgers was pressed into duty last year and had some decent games for the Eagles, who rely on their tight end position more than most teams. He'll always be best known for catching a game-winning hail mary from Aaron Rodgers.|
Eagles | Trevon Grimes moved to IR Thu Jun 10, 05:57 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Trevon Grimes (knee) was moved to the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, June 10, after clearing waivers.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles had hopes that the size/athleticism prospect from UCLA could make their practice squad. Now he'll stay in the organization without using up one of those spots. The team is far from set at outside receiver, so we'll monitor his development in the future.|

Eagles | Trevon Grimes has surgery Fri Jun 4, 06:22 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Trevon Grimes (knee) recently underwent knee surgery, but the injury was not considered serious, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: Grimes had a knee injury his senior year of high school but still signed with Ohio State. He ended up transferring to Florida and showed off his size/speed combination (and nose for the end zone). As a senior with the Gators, Grimes was overshadowed by WR Kadarius Toney and TE Kyle Pitts but he still ended the 2020 season with 589 yards and nine touchdowns. The Eagles picked him up as a priority free agent after the draft this year, and Grimes is a long shot for the 53-man roster.|
Eagles | Philly signs three more picks Fri Jun 4, 03:59 PM
Philadelphia Eagles sixth-round draft choice DT Marlon Tuipulotu, sixth-round draft choice DE Tarron Jackson and seventh-round draft choice DE Patrick Johnson signed four-year contracts with the Eagles Friday, June 4. Financial terms were not disclosed.Link to story
Eagles | Philly signs three draft picks Thu Jun 3, 05:07 PM
Philadelphia Eagles third-round draft choice DT Milton J. Williams, fourth-round draft choice CB Zech McPhearson and fifth-round draft choice RB Kenneth Gainwell signed four-year contracts with the Eagles Thursday, June 3. Financial terms were not disclosed.
|Footballguys view: Gainwell will play the Nyheim Hines role in Nick Sirianni's offense and could displace Boston Scott as the backup to Miles Sanders. McPhearson was a highly coveted target for the Eagles to help their beleaguered secondary. Williams is a freakish athlete who should fit right in with Fletcher Cox and Javon Hargrave.|
Eagles | DeVonta Smith comes to terms Thu Jun 3, 01:52 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith on Thursday, June 3, agreed to terms on his rookie contract, according to a league source. Financial details weren't immediately available.
|Footballguys view: Smith's game is all about speed, and he's drawn some comparisons to former Colts great Marvin Harrison because of his playmaking ability. During his college career at Alabama, Smith split time between playing out wide and playing the slot. Smith can take the top off the defense and he tracks the ball well downfield. We'll see what kind of progress QB Jalen Hurts makes as a passer, and that question mark does make it difficult to forecast Smith's numbers. He's got a current ADP of WR55 (12.01) in 12-team PPR leagues.|
Eagles | Kerryon Johnson restructured deal Wed Jun 2, 09:36 PM
Philadelphia Eagles RB Kerryon Johnson agreed to a restructured contract that will pay him the veteran minimum of $920,000 with a matching cap hit in 2021, according to a league source.
|Footballguys view: Johnson is getting a second chance in the league to prove himself. The 43rd overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft by the Lions, Johnson struggled to stay healthy and impress. The Lions waived him this offseason and the Eagles scooped him up. He'll compete with Jordan Howard, Boston Scott, and rookie Kenneth Gainwell for snaps behind Miles Sanders.|

Eagles | Zach Ertz has teams calling Tue Jun 1, 11:01 AM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz has had at least three teams calling about trading for him, according to sources. His release is unlikely.
|Footballguys view: Rumblings have the Eagles wanting a third-round pick for Ertz. It's a steep price tag especially when considering the veteran comes with a $12.7 million cap hit. Before the draft there were reportedly six or seven teams interested in Ertz. That number has likely been whittled down to the serious contenders now. We'll see where he lands.|

Eagles | Jalen Reagor to be on the move more in 2021 Tue May 25, 02:41 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR Jalen Reagor told reporters Tuesday, May 25, that he will play in the slot and 'move around a great deal' in 2021.
|Footballguys view: Reagor, a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, played most of his snaps outside as a rookie and finished the season with 31 catches for 396 yards and one touchdown. The Eagles went back to the well in the first round this year to add DeVonta Smith (Alabama) and he should play a large role. Getting Reagor targets from the slot with Smith taking the top off the defense on the outside sounds like a good combination.|
Eagles | More Screen Passes for Sanders? Sat May 22, 03:25 PM
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks, from 94WIP.com in Philadelphia, Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson notes there seems to be more emphasis on the screen game in Nick Sirianni's offense.
|Footballguys view: Sanders should be the centerpiece in the Eagles new offense. He can handle a larger workload as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. Sanders has 78 catches in two seasons but could be in line for a career high in catches this season. Rookie Kenneth Gainwell, a fifth-round pick out of Memphis, can be used as a pass-catching option out of the backfield as well.|

Eagles | Lane Johnson a full-go for offseason program Thu May 20, 02:17 PM
Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports that RT Lane Johnson was fully cleared from ankle surgery a few weeks ago and will be "full go" for the offseason program.
|Footballguys view: The Eagles offense collapsed last year for more reasons than one, but the offensive line injuries were certainly prominent on that list. Johnson is one of the best in the business and his return along with Brandon Brooks will give the Eagles one of the best right sides of the line in the league once again. Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders have a better shot at a bounceback year as long as the line stays healthy and the offense takes to Nick Sirianni's system.|

Eagles | Offense Not a Great Fit for Jalen Hurts? Mon May 17, 02:56 PM
Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has not installed much in terms of quarterback reads or run/pass options according to what sources tell Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
|Footballguys view: Sirianni has constantly reiterated that Hurts is going to have to compete for the starting job. That's fine coachspeak, but the reality is that Hurts is the best option the team has. Hurts is a great runner and can attack a defense with his legs. It would be wise for Sirianni's playbook to highlight that. In order for Hurts to succeed, the Eagles will have to utilize his running ability while he improves as a passer in the pros.|
Eagles | Zach Ertz not at workouts Mon May 17, 02:41 PM
Philadelphia Eagles TE Zach Ertz did not report for the start of offseason workouts Monday, May 17, and is expected to stay away until his situation is resolved, according to a source.
|Footballguys view: No surprise here. Ertz might be traded if the Eagles can find a partner willing to pay their requested price (rumored to be a third-round pick). He's a sound veteran but that $12.7 million cap hit is going to be tough to move. Stay tuned.|
