Patriots | New England extends Ben Brown Tue Dec 23, 01:16 PM
New England Patriots G Ben Brown signed a two-year contract extension worth up to $6.6 million.
Link to storyNew England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte (concussion) is in the concussion protocol Tuesday, Dec. 23.
Footballguys view: Boutte being out could mean more work for rookie wideout Kyle Williams, who hauled in a 37-yard touchdown pass against the Ravens. DeMario Douglas, who has been quiet in recent weeks, could also see more action. Remember, however, Douglas left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury. Head coach Mike Vrabel didn't offer an update on Douglas. We'll be watching for more on Boutte and Douglas as the week progresses.

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson (concussion) is in concussion protocol Tuesday, Dec. 23.
Footballguys view: If Henderson is out for Sunday's game against the Jets, the Patriots could look to elevate a player from the practice squad to work behind Rhamondre Stevenson and D'Ernest Johnson, who is currently filling in for the injured Terrell Jennings. All that said, Stevenson would be in a great spot for this one, going up against a New York defense that's allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing running backs (29.4 points per game) over the past six weeks. We'll follow up on Henderson over the coming days.
New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson was injured in the second quarter of his team's Week 16 game against the Baltimore Ravens. The Patriots announced Henderson had been ruled out of Sunday's game because of a head injury. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel did not provide an update about Henderson's status moving forward following Sunday's game.
Footballguys view: Henderson's injury occurred after he was tackled following a 1-yard gain. Henderson originally got up and tried to return to the huddle. However, he eventually went to the ground, and New England's medical staff came onto the field to tend to him. Henderson was able to walk off under his own power and was taken to the blue medical tent for further evaluation. The talented rookie was initially deemed "questionable" to return in the first half but was declared out just after halftime. Rhamondre Stevenson would stand to gain if Henderson isn't available against the Jets in Week 17.
New England Patriots LB Jack Gibbens logged a team-leading 10 tackles (three solo) in Week 16 against the Baltimore Ravens.

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 31 of his 44 passes for a career-high 380 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in a Week 16 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Maye also ran the ball 10 times for 25 yards.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Mike Reiss noted, the Patriots were one-dimensional on offense, favoring the pass, and Maye recorded his first career 300-yard passing game despite facing heavy pressure. But Maye had two turnovers -- an interception that ended the team's first drive, when WR Kayshon Boutte wasn't competitive at the top of the route, and a lost fumble that cost the team a chance at a field goal before halftime. Still, Maye did nothing to tarnish his standing as a front-line fantasy starter, as he sat at QB6 overall through Sunday night's games. The Patriots play the Jets on Sunday.

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs caught three of four targets for 26 yards in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Footballguys view: Diggs posted a 10-146 line on his old team in the first matchup this season, but the Patriots pass offense wasn't a major factor in this game. He has been in a three week fantasy slump now and probably won't be in lineups next week when he goes to Baltimore.

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson finished with 148 yards on 14 carries with two touchdowns in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He also caught two of three targets for 13 yards.
Footballguys view: For the second time this season, Henderson broke away for two long touchdown runs to make anyone who played him in fantasy leagues look like a genius. He is still a boom/bust play against the Ravens next week, but will be very difficult to leave on the bench after this.
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 14 of 23 for 155 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in a Week 15 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He added scoring runs of eight and seven yards in the first half and finished with 43 yards on four carries.
Footballguys view: Maye was a fantasy success because of two first half rushing scores, but he wasn't able to make plays as a passer once the game tightened up in the second half. The Patriots still have the inside track to win the division, but the Ravens defense is coming on and he won't have a ceiling game for fantasy against them next week unless he improves from this performance.

Link to storyD'Ernest Johnson player page
The New England Patriots plan to sign RB D'Ernest Johnson to their active roster from the practice squad, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: Johnson is a seasoned veteran who can be counted on as a three-down player. He'll be the Patriots' no.3 running back behind TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson.
D'Ernest Johnson player page
The New England Patriots will place RB Terrell Jennings (concussion) on the Reserve/Injured list because of a concussion, according to a source.
Footballguys view: He will miss the team's next four games but should be able to return for the postseason. Jennings helped carry the load for the Patriots while Rhamondre Stevenson missed time earlier this year. With Stevenson back, Jennings saw his role shrink and now misses a month with this concussion. D'Ernest Johnson is the no.3 back for the Patriots now.
