Patriots | TreVeyon Henderson joins rare group    Thu Feb 5, 10:26 AM

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson became the second player in NFL history to have two games with multiple 50-yard rushing touchdowns in his career, joining retired RB Chris Johnson.

Footballguys view: Unfortunately, that's about where the highlight reel ends for Henderson's rookie season - at least as of right now. He barely saw the field in the AFC title game and the Patriots probably won't play him much in the Super Bowl to avoid exposing his subpar pass blocking to the Seahawks pass rush. Henderson's debut season was more flash than substance.

Patriots | Drake Maye, coaches say shoulder is a non-issue    Tue Feb 3, 12:22 AM

Concerns about Drake Maye's shoulder have diminished after the New England Patriots quarterback and coaching staff all downplayed the injury. During Super Bowl XL Opening Night, Maye said he felt good after Monday's throwing session. "I feel good. I'll be just fine," Maye said. "I threw a good bit. I threw as much as I would at a normal practice. I felt great and looking forward to getting back out there Wednesday and Thursday for practice and Friday to get ready for a normal week of prep."

Footballguys view: Maye was listed as questionable on the Patriots' Super Bowl Bye Week Injury report after limited participation with the shoulder injury and missing Friday due to an illness. The message on Monday was that Maye was fine physically ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Seattle Seahawks' No. 1 defense. The two weeks between games helped things settle for the MVP candidate. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel reiterated that Maye looked good on Monday. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was asked if he expected any limitations with Maye's shoulder entering Sunday's contest. "Nope," McDaniels confidently stated. Nonetheless, we'll be watching for more.

Patriots | Drake Maye battling shoulder issue    Tue Jan 27, 12:17 PM

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye (shoulder) is battling a shoulder ailment but should be fine to play in the Super Bowl.

Footballguys view: Asked about online speculation that Maye suffered an injury in the AFC Championship Game win over the Broncos, head coach Mike Vrabel did not answer that specifically, instead saying, "There's not a player on our team that's 100 percent healthy" at this point in the year. At a press conference later in the day, Vrabel was asked if interest in Maye's shoulder has been overblown. Vrabel said it "probably" has been. The Patriots will release an injury report on Wednesday, but next week's practice and injury updates will be of greater import when setting the stage for Super Bowl LX.

Patriots | New England to play in another Super Bowl    Sun Jan 25, 05:42 PM

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye went 10-for-21 for 86 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game. Maye also rushed for 65 yards and one touchdown on 10 carries. RB Rhamondre Stevenson rushed for 71 yards on 25 carries, while RB TreVeyon Henderson rushed for five yards on three carries. WR Mack Hollins caught two passes for 51 yards on two targets, WR Stefon Diggs caught five passes for 17 yards on six targets, TE Hunter Henry caught two passes for 12 yards on three targets and WR Kayshon Boutte caught one pass for six yards on six targets.

Footballguys view: The Broncos defense was up to the task, as the only touchdown they allowed was off of a Jarrett Stidham turnover deep in his own territory. Drake Maye was more dangerous as a runner than a passer, and the Broncos shut down the predictable Patriots running game. The Patriots still advanced thanks to their defense and a second half field goal drive that broke a 7-7 tie. New England will have two weeks to prepare as a Super Bowl underdog after pulling off a stunning turnaround under first year head coach Mike Vrabel.

Patriots | Mack Hollins activated from IR    Sat Jan 24, 04:04 PM

New England Patriots WR Mack Hollins (abdomen) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list on Saturday, Jan. 24, ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.

Footballguys view: Hollins was one of the Patriots' top receivers during the regular season. He was third on the team in receptions (46), adding two receiving touchdowns. Hollins' blocking ability has also been key to the Patriots' success on offense this season. As the Boston Globe noted, with his 6-4 frame, Hollins has allowed the Patriots to play with advantageous personnel packages on run downs. While the Patriots haven't necessarily needed Hollins so far in the playoffs, his return is certainly welcomed news, as Drake Maye hasn't been as prolific throwing the ball this postseason.

Patriots | No designation for Hunter Henry    Fri Jan 23, 05:49 PM

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (knee) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 23, and is not on the injury report for the AFC Championship game.

Footballguys view: Henry opened up the week with back-to-back limited practices, so full participation on Friday is good to see. Henry has been very boom-or-bust this season. Last week, he had just one catch for five yards. But his multi-touchdown upside in any matchup always makes him an intriguing play.

Patriots | TreVeyon Henderson fully practices    Fri Jan 23, 05:46 PM

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 23, and is not on the injury report for the AFC Championship game.

Footballguys view: Henderson has been on the injury report all week, but it hasn't stopped him from practicing in full every day. The Patriots chose to lean a bit heavier on Rhamondre Stevenson in their first playoff game. Henderson is a big-play threat every time he touches the ball, but the coaching staff might have more faith in the veteran in these big games.

Patriots | Full practice for Mack Hollins    Fri Jan 23, 05:45 PM

New England Patriots WR Mack Hollins (abdomen) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 23, but is listed as questionable for the AFC Championship game.

Footballguys view: Hollins hasn't played since Week 16. When active, he's been a reliable deep threat and a team leader. The Patriots get the benefit of playing against a Broncos team without Bo Nix, but the home-field advantage and stout defense can still pose a challenge. If Hollins can return this week, he'll be welcomed back to a receiver room that could use the extra firepower.

Patriots | TreVeyon Henderson fully practices    Thu Jan 22, 06:10 PM

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson (shoulder) fully participated in practice Thursday, Jan. 22.

Footballguys view: Henderson can be a problem for the Broncos on Sunday. The rookie back can make a big play happen any time he touches the ball. Even splitting touches with Rhamondre Stevenson, Henderson could be a factor.

Patriots | Limited practice for Mack Hollins    Thu Jan 22, 05:58 PM

New England Patriots WR Mack Hollins (abdomen) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 22.

Footballguys view: Let's see if Hollins can get out there on Sunday against the Broncos. He's coming back from IR with this abdomen injury and not a lock to play. If he does play, Hollins will block (his forte) and be a deep threat for the Pats.

Patriots | Hunter Henry remains limited    Thu Jan 22, 05:53 PM

New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry (non-injury) was limited during practice Thursday, Jan. 22.
