New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 19-of-23 passes for 230 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins, while running 10 times for 31 yards and a score.
Footballguys view: It was the performance fantasy investors needed after a disappointing Week 1. Maye became the first Patriots quarterback with multiple passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the same game since Tom Brady in Week 2, 2019. His 26.3 fantasy points were the third-most by a quarterback on Sunday's slate. The Patriots play the Steelers at home in Week 3. |
The New England Patriots have declared CB Christian Gonzalez, DL Keion White, QB Tommy DeVito, OT Caedan Wallace, WR Efton Chism III and DT Eric Gregory inactive for Week 2.

The New England Patriots traded WR Ja'Lynn Polk and a seventh-round selection in the 2028 NFL Draft to the New Orleans Saints Saturday, Sept. 13, in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft, according to multiple sources.
Footballguys view: In late August, Polk underwent shoulder surgery and is out for the year. The 2024 second-round pick was in danger of making the Patriots final roster if he was healthy. Clearly, the Patriots have made plans without him and have an interesting group of receivers for second-year QB Drake Maye. |
ESPN's Mike Reiss writes that he hears that the Patriots could change their RB snap distribution against the Dolphins after Rhamondre Stevenson got 46 snaps to second round TreVeyon Henderson's 25 and Antonio Gibson's 5.
Footballguys view: Reiss is a long time Patriots beat who is tuned in, so him mentioning the Patriots only had 60 rushing yards and that "getting the ground game going is a point of emphasis" for the team. Head coach Mike Vrabel said "Some of it is just based on the flow of the game and knowing they're all going to have a role. We have to evaluate everything to make sure we're getting it right based on volume, who's playing, who's getting the ball, who's trying to get the ball." Reading between the lines of the vague pronouncement, Henderson could get more work early in this game, but expect both backs to get enough work against a floundering Dolphins defense to be good flex plays. |

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 11.
Footballguys view: A full practice on Friday would make us feel better here. Boutte was a hot waiver wire addition this week, and he's got a lot of upside as a favorite for QB Drake Maye. Let's circle back to see what he can do Friday. |

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.
Footballguys view: Boutte was a hot waiver wire addition (if he was available) this week after over 100 yards receiving in Week 1. A favorite of QB Drake Maye, Boutte has flex appeal for Fantasy GMs if he's out there. A limited practice is not a great start to the week, so let's see if his status improves by Friday. |

New England Patriots WR Mack Hollins, TE Austin Hooper and WR Kyle Williams each recorded one catch apiece in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Hollins had a 3-yard grab with two targets, Hooper had a 10-yard catch on his lone target and Williams had a 12-yard snare on his only target.

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte posted six receptions for a team-best 103 yards on eight targets in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Footballguys view: Boutte had one of the most surprising Week 1 stat lines, but there was some foreshadowing as Jeff Howe from The Athletic reported this week that Boutte had a "stunning turnaround" this summer. Boutte could limit Stefon Diggs upside, and he's the secondary Patriots receiver to roster ahead of Demario Douglas and Kyle Williams, who were drafted in many leagues. |

New England Patriots RB Antonio Gibson ran once for three yards, and he did not have a catch with one target in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He also added two kickoff returns for 68 yards.

New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson rushed seven times for just 15 yards in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he added two receptions for 12 yards on three targets.

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson posted five runs for a team-best 27 yards in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he added six receptions for 24 yards on his six targets. The rookie had two kickoff returns for 43 yards, too.
Footballguys view: Henderson getting six targets is good, but he didn't break any big plays and was in a 50-50ish committee with Rhamondre Stevenson. The rookie is at least a flex play against the atrocious Dolphins defense next week, but it wasn't the kind of debut that would portend Henderson taking over the Patriots backfield soon. |
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye completed 30-of-46 passes for 287 yards, one touchdown and one interception in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he ran four times for 11 yards with one fumble which was recovered by his own team. He was also sacked four times.
Footballguys view: Maye wasn't able to make the plays the team needed to put up enough points on a vulnerable Raiders defense to win. We may give him another shot next week against a Dolphins defense that just made Daniel Jones look like Josh Allen. |
New England Patriots LB Harold Landry finished with five total stops, including four of the solo variety, with 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss and four quarterback hits in Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

New England Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders. OT Will Campbell (ankle) was limited in practice on Friday, Sept. 5, and is listed as questionable. CB Charles Woods (groin) practiced in full on Friday but is listed as questionable. DL Christian Barmore (Non-Injury Related) was limited on Friday but no longer appears on the injury report. WR Efton Chism III (knee) practiced in full all week and no longer appears on the injury report.
Footballguys view: Gonzalez's absence will help Jakobi Meyers and Dont'e Thornton's matchup outlook. Campbell's debut was highly anticipated after the Patriots took him #4 overall, hopefully we see it on Sunday. Barmore was playing at a dominant level before blood clots ended his 2024 and threatened his career. His return could make the Patriots defensive line the most athletic in the NFL. |

New England Patriots WR Stefon Diggs (knee) is expected to play in Week 1, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.
Footballguys view: Diggs tore his ACL while playing for the Texans last year and signed with New England as a free agent this offseason. He didn't play in the preseason, but his rehab went well enough that he was practicing without limitations throughout training camp. Now, Diggs is listed as a starter along with Demario Douglas and Mack Hollins. Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, and Efton Chism round out the receiving corps, but as Profootballtalk.com suggested, Diggs returning to pre-injury form would give the Patriots the kind of dynamic receiver they were missing in quarterback Drake Maye's rookie year. |

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte had a 'stunning' offseason turnaround, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.
Footballguys view: Boutte seems to be locked in as the Patriots no.3 receiver behind Stefon Diggs and Demario Douglas. There's some 'what the heck' flex appeal in deeper leagues if he takes the work from the summer and translates that to regular season success. |

New England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson has the team 'ecstatic,' according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic, and Howe believes Henderson could become the lead back.
Footballguys view: Everyone should be excited by Henderson. He's a big play waiting to happen, and Henderson can flip the field anytime he touches the ball - both as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. The rookie from Ohio State is going to split time with Rhamondre Stevenson this season. In fact, many are expecting Henderson to take over in the backfield. That's why Henderson is seen by most as an RB2 with RB1 upside. |
New England Patriots CB Christian Gonzalez's (hamstring) conditioning could prevent him from being ready for the season opener, according to head coach Mike Vrabel. 'In my own personal experience, you can only ride the bike so long or do the stair climber or something,' Vrabel said. 'You actually have to come out here, put pads on, run and get into football conditioning.'
Footballguys view: The Raiders are coming to Foxboro for the season opener. This could help Geno Smith, Dont'e Thornton and Jakobi Meyers get off to a good start. The Patriots depth behind Gonzalez is largely untested. Jeff Howe of The Athletic wrote that it is "tough to pin down a timetable on his return". |
