Cardinals | Michael Wilson breaks out in second half Tue Feb 3, 12:26 AM
Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Wilson recorded 809 of his 1,006 receiving yards during the second half of the 2025 regular season. He also caught six of his seven touchdowns during that span.
Footballguys view: Wilson joined tight end Trey McBride in the Cardinals' 1,000-yard receiving club. Given how he started the season, with just eight catches for 52 yards and a touchdown over the first five games, Wilson's finish was remarkable. With Jacoby Brissett taking over for Kyler Murray, plus Wilson getting WR1 opportunities with Marvin Harrison Jr. injured, the third-year pro was able to take off behind 65 catches for 855 yards (and the six scores) over the next 11 games. Offseason developments in Arizona will determine our view of Wilson in 2026, but a new, offensive-minded head coach in Mike LaFleur is a great start.

Atlanta Falcons TE Kyle Pitts caught four of his five touchdowns in December and finished the month with 26 receptions and 329 yards.
Footballguys view: Even though much of his success came after Kirk Cousins took over as the starting quarterback, Pitts' fifth season was his best as a pro, with 88 catches for 928 yards and the five touchdowns. His TE2 finish overall was the kind of outcome fantasy investors have been hoping for since his 1,000-yard rookie season. While the team's QB situation is still to be determined, new head coach Kevin Stefanski leaned heavily on the tight end position. We'll all be interested to see how Pitts might fit into that scheme -- assuming the unrestricted free agent remains a Falcon.

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent WR George Pickens said he would like to return to the Cowboys next season but believes his value has went up after his 2025 season.
Footballguys view: The Cowboys want to keep Pickens, and the team has the franchise tag available to use on the pending free agent, but the question is whether the sides can negotiate a long-term deal. The Cowboys traded with the Steelers for Pickens in the 2025 offseason. Dak Prescott is the best quarterback Pickens has played with, and it showed. His previous best season was 63 receptions for 1,140 yards and five touchdowns in 2023. We'll be following this situation closely as free agency draws nearer.
Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff said he is excited to work with offensive coordinator Drew Petzing and that other quarterbacks that have worked with Petzing have given him great reviews.
Footballguys view: Petzing will be Detroit's third offensive coordinator in the last three years. John Morton replaced Ben Johnson after Johnson became the head coach of the Bears in January 2025, but Morton's run calling plays ended when head coach Dan Campbell took over those responsibilities during the season. The Lions still finished fourth in the league in points scored, but it wasn't enough for the Lions to return to the postseason. Goff said he hopes the change leads to a return to the consistency of previous seasons. "I think he was a home run hire," Goff said.

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Davis Webb was officially named the team's new offensive coordinator Monday, Feb. 2.
Footballguys view: Still only 31 years old, Webb had multiple head coaching interviews in recent weeks. The former NFL QB will stay in Denver for another season, and figures to be a hot head coaching candidate again next year. Until then, having his former position coach move up the ladder while remaining in Denver is good news for Bo Nix and his fantasy investors. For what it's worth, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Broncos are promoting Logan Kilgore to QB coach.

Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride caught nine of his 11 touchdowns during the second half of games this season. He did record 658 receiving yards in the first half of games and 563 receiving yards in the second half.
Footballguys view: In other words, McBride was excellent. He finished 2025 with 126 receptions, 1,239 yards, and 11 touchdowns. He averaged 18.6 PPR points per game. The next closest tight end was Kyle Pitts at 12.4. McBride, who finished as TE1 overall, scored 315.9 points. That's 105.1 points more than Pitts. Per Next Gen Stats, McBride's 169 targets ranked third in the NFL behind only Ja'Marr Chase and Amon-Ra St. Brown. It was three more than Puka Nacua's 166. Expect to pay up to land McBride in drafts this summer.
San Francisco 49ers WR Jauan Jennings caught five of his nine touchdowns on third down during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Jennings is a free-agent-to-be, and his future with the Niners is unclear. Still, with 1,618 yards and 15 touchdowns on 122 receptions over the last two years, Jennings has been an essential piece of the team's offense. Will that translate into a big payday in San Francisco? A move to another team? We'll be watching that closely as the free-agent signing period draws near.

Los Angeles Rams WR Davante Adams is expected to return to the team next season, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Adams, 33, was a key contributor for the Rams in 2025, catching 60 passes for 789 yards with a league-leading 14 touchdowns. He missed some time with a hamstring injury, but caught 11 passes for 185 yards with a touchdown in three postseason games. Adams was also a boon for fantasy investors. Despite being limited to 14 regular-season games, the veteran finished as WR9 in total points. He was also WR9 on a points-per-game basis. Assuming all the pieces remain in place, fantasy managers find the Rams' offense a target-rich environment this summer.

Free-agent QB Jake Haener (Saints) agreed to terms on a Reserve/Future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Feb. 2, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Haener was involved in a competition for the starting job in New Orleans with Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shough last season, but wound up in third position. The 2023 fourth-round pick spent most of the season on the practice squad and did not appear in any games. The Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes coming off a torn ACL, so their other quarterbacks should get plenty of work in the offseason. Gardner Minshew and Chris Oladokun filled in after Mahomes' injury, but Minshew is not under contract for 2026.

Los Angeles Rams TE Tyler Higbee will receive time to decide if he wants to continue his playing career next season, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: The Rams are well-equipped to handle a departure if Higbee chooses to call it a career. Colby Parkinson emerged as a solid starter while Higbee spent time on injured reserve this past season. In addition, rookie Terrance Ferguson also emerged as a viable option at tight end. We'll follow up on this situation as developments warrant.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) will not need to undergo surgery this offseason to repair a herniated disc in his back, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Stafford entered the 2025 season with the back injury but started in all 20 games. He was also very productive. He led the NFL with 46 touchdown passes and 4,707 passing yards this year, at one point throwing a record 28 touchdown passes between interceptions. McVay told reporters during his end-of-season press conference Monday that while he hopes Stafford will return, he doesn't have an answer yet. Stafford has a $40 million salary that becomes guaranteed on the fifth day of the new league year, which puts a soft deadline around the middle of March. We'll be watching for more.

New Orleans Saints quarterbacks coach Scott Tolzien will interview for the Pittsburgh Steelers' offensive coordinator vacancy Monday, Feb. 2.
Footballguys view: Tolzien was the quarterbacks coach for the final two seasons as McCarthy's run as the Cowboys' head coach. McCarthy also coached Tolzien when he was a quarterback for the Packers from 2013-2015, so landing the Steelers job would continue a long-running relationship between the two men.

Los Angeles Rams quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone might be a potential offensive coordinator candidate on the staff of new Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams.

Denver Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb has officially interviewed for the offensive coordinator position for the team, and he is considered the leading candidate in Denver.
Footballguys view: Davis, Denver's offensive pass game coordinator/quarterbacks coach, becomes the third known candidate to have interviewed for the job since head coach Sean Payton fired Joe Lombardi last Tuesday. Buffalo quarterbacks coach Ronald Curry interviewed on Thursday, and Washington assistant head coach and offensive pass game coordinator Brian Johnson interviewed on Friday. We'll watch for more, but a promotion for Webb makes sense.

Link to storyKentucky RB Seth McGowan had a standout 29-yard run for the National Team at the 2026 Senior Bowl, which was the longest play of the game. However, he also lost a fumble, and he had a pass drop, too.
Link to storyOklahoma RB Jaydn Ott rushed for 42 yards at the Senior Bowl, more than he had in all but one game this season with the Sooners, and he had a touchdown on eight carries. He also reportedly showed good pass-protection skills.
Link to storyUniversity of Indiana RB Kaelon Black rushed for a game-high 45 yards on eight carries, while posting nine yards on a pair of receptions at the 2026 Senior Bowl.
Link to storyNorth Dakota State QB Cole Payton was named player of the game for the National Team for his play at the 2026 Senior Bowl. The highlight of the day was a 19-yard run, while turning in completions of 24, 22 and 14 yards. However, he did have a few errant passes, too, and he was stuffed on a two-point conversion rushing attempt.
Link to storyBaylor QB Sawyer Robertson had a dismal Senior Bowl showing, completing just one of his five passing attempts with an interception for the National Team.
Link to storyVanderbilt QB Diego Pavia completed 10-of-13 passes for 78 yards at the 2026 Senior Bowl in the cold and wind in Mobile, Alabama. His passes were mostly on short routes, but one of the highlights was a nice escape from pressure, completing an 18-yard pass on a rollout.
Link to storyLSU QB Garrett Nussmeier completed 5-of-8 passes for 57 yards and an interception, while also running for a 3-yard touchdown at the 2026 Senior Bowl, earning MVP honors on offense.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane recorded 719 rushing yards after contact during the 2025 regular season, which ranked third in the NFL in that category.
Footballguys view: As SI.com suggested, Achane was basically the entire Dolphins offense at different points this season. His ability to break tackles made it a lot easier for him to eclipse 1,000 rushing yards for the first time, and it kept the Dolphins' offense on schedule. Miami's running game became its identity about halfway through the season, and Achane, who finished the season as RB3 in fantasy, was the reason why. Even with a new GM, head coach, and playcaller, expecting Achane to remain the most fantasy-relevant piece in this offense is not a reach.
Dallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams recorded 25 broken tackles during the 2025 regular season, which ranked second in the NFL in that category.
Footballguys view: Signed to a one-year deal after spending four years with the Denver Broncos, Williams had fewer than four yards per attempt the past two years in the league. But Williams excelled in the Cowboys' zone running scheme. He finished with 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground while averaging 4.8 yards per attempt en route to an RB9 finish in fantasy. Now, the Cowboys have to decide if they're going to bring him back as an unrestricted free agent or allow him to hit the open market.

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix recorded a league-leading seven game-winning drives during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Nix's 24 regular-season wins are tied for the most in NFL history in a player's first two seasons, and he posted more wins in 2025 than any quarterback has in a single season in franchise history. In 2025, the Broncos tied a franchise record for regular-season wins, earned their first division title in a decade and captured the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The late-game comebacks added to that. Nix, who finished 2025 as QB9 in fantasy points, is recovering from ankle surgery on his ankle. He expects to recover in four to six weeks.
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams produced a league-leading six fourth-quarter comebacks during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Williams flourished in his first year working with coach Ben Johnson, setting a Bears single-season passing record with 3,942 yards and ranking fifth in the NFL with a 27-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. The late-game heroics added to that. The former USC standout was at his best in crunch time, regularly displaying his clutch gene with remarkable highlight throws that had to be seen to be believed. Fantasy investors can expect to pay a premium for Williams, who finished as QB5, in 2025.
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith was sacked 55 times during the 2025 regular season, which was tied for the most in the NFL.
Footballguys view: As SBNation pointed out, Smith led the league in another aspect: He was among the NFL leaders in passing yards during garbage time. Smith threw for 736 passing yards when the game was out of reach in 2025. It was the third most in the league last season. That means Smith accounted for nearly a quarter of his total season passing yards during garbage time. Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza will likely be drafted by the 3-14 Raiders with the first pick overall in April's draft, and it remains to be seen where Smith will be.
Geno Smith player page
Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward was sacked 55 times during the 2025 regular season, which was tied for the most in the NFL.
Footballguys view: It seems safe to assume that addressing the offensive line will be a priority under new coach Robert Saleh and OC Brian Daboll. We'll remind you that Ward improved noticeably late last season. The rookie threw only six touchdown passes through the first 12 games, but threw two scoring strikes per game over his final four outings (he was hurt early in Week 18). He was intercepted just once over that span after getting picked off six times in the first 12 games. That late-season improvement is reason for optimism. Better protection would add to that.
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was blitzed 163 times during the 2025 regular season, which ranked second in the NFL.
Footballguys view: Nonetheless, Prescott delivered one of the best seasons of his career. As ESPN.com noted, for the fourth time, he threw for more than 4,000 yards and had at least 30 touchdown passes. He completed at least 60% of his passes in each of the first 15 games. He became the franchise's all-time leader in passing yards (35,989), passing Tony Romo. He is tied for the NFL lead with six 300-yard passing games. He is tied for third in multi-touchdown passing games (10). He also finished the season as QB6 in fantasy points.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff had 2,424 of his 4,564 passing yards this season come after the catch, which led the league in that category.
Footballguys view: Despite a coordinator change, Goff continued his run of highly efficient seasons, posting the second-best passer rating of his 10-year career. But he remained heavily reliant on short throws and yards after the catch, maximizing the roster's speed-and-space arsenal. His average pass traveled just 6.43 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. It's a reminder for fantasy investors that supporting casts matter. Goff, who was drafted as QB12 in 2025, finished the year as QB8.

Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs recorded 819 rushing yards before contact this season, which ranked third in the NFL in that category.
Footballguys view: That's obviously a plus, but since being selected 12th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Gibbs has done exactly what the Lions envisioned -- and more. Over his first three NFL seasons, Gibbs has averaged 5.3 yards per carry, scored 13 touchdowns per season, and become a matchup nightmare as both a runner and receiver. He's solidified himself as a cornerstone of Detroit's offense, and that's not going to change in 2026, even with a change of offensive coordinators. Gibbs, who finished as RB4 in 2025, will be locked in as a top pick this summer.

Navy RB Eli Heidenreich has the receiving skills to be a 'third-down weapon in the NFL,' according to Dane Brugler of The Athletic.
Link to storyVanderbilt QB Diego Pavia struggled with his timing on throws down the field during Senior Bowl practices and didn't 'move the needle' when it comes to his draft stock, according to Dane Brugler of The Athletic.
Link to storyOklahoma RB Jaydn Ott had a strong week of practice at the Senior Bowl and was able to show some good pass protection skills.
Link to storyTexas Tech WR Reggie Virgil was one of the most impressive receivers at the Senior Bowl this week, according to NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but QB Baker Mayfield said he expects Evans to return to the team next season.
Footballguys view: There are rumblings out there that Evans will not return to the Buccaneers in free agency. That seems a bit odd because we can't imagine him playing for another team. However, things change in the NFL - even for long-time veterans like Evans. Coming off his first non-1,000-yard receiving season, Evans may be looking for a fresh start. He's not quite the player he used to be, but Evans could be in for a bounce-back season in 2026...in Tampa or somewhere else.

Carolina Panthers impending free-agent RB Rico Dowdle may not return to the team next season since he likely will ask for a high salary this offseason, and the team already has RB Chuba Hubbard and Jonathon Brooks on the roster, in the opinion of ESPN.com's David Newton.
Footballguys view: Dowdle is one of the best backs available in free agency, and it seems unlikely he would take a hometown discount to stay with the Panthers. Coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons on the ground, Dowdle may be playing on his third team in three years in 2026. We'll see how much interest RB-needy teams have in Dowdle later this offseason. He's an RB2 for Fantasy GMs in the right landing spot.
Rico Dowdle player page
New York Jets impending free-agent RB Breece Hall may be a candidate for either the franchise tag or transition tag this offseason if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement on a new contract, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.
Footballguys view: Hall is arguably the best running back available in free agency this offseason. We could see several teams vying for his services if the Jets don't tag him. A franchise tag has a projected value at $14.1 million for a one-year deal. The Jets could tag him and then get until mid-July to work out a long-term contract. If they lose Hall in free agency, the Jets would be searching for a new lead back (among many other things).
Washington Commanders impending free-agent TE Zach Ertz (knee) is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but does want to continue his playing career, according to a source. Ertz is not expected to return to the Commanders next season.
Footballguys view: Ertz suffered the injury on a dirty hit against the Vikings in Week 14. He's on the road to recovery, and now has had two major knee injuries in his career. Ertz can still be a reliable target, but he may not be ready to play until the midway point of the 2026 season. Returning to the Commanders on another one-year deal makes sense, but they'll be looking to add to their tight end room in the meantime.
Zach Ertz player page
Stanford TE Sam Roush is the 'best pure drive blocker' at the position in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.
Footballguys view: Roush is a traditional "Y" tight end who can be counted on as a blocker and as a receiver. He's a mid-round pick with high football intelligence and the ability to contribute right away because of his blocking ability. While Roush is a good route-runner, he may get typecast into being primarily a blocker at the pro level. If that happens, it would clearly limit his fantasy value.
Houston TE Tanner Koziol was 'the stud tight end' for the National Team during Senior Bowl practices, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network.
Footballguys view: Koziol certainly is a stud who can use his size and receiving ability to be a threat all over the field - and especially in the red zone. At 6-feet, 7-inches Koziol dominates 'above the rim' on the football field. He set a school record with 94 catches in 2024 at Ball State. Then, in 2025 with Houston, he led the team in catches (74) proving himself against tougher competition. With a standout performance at the Senior Bowl, Koziol could rise up draft boards. We believe he'll be a mid-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Louisville WR Caullin Lacy was an 'electric route runner' during Senior Bowl practices, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Footballguys view: Lacy knows how to cut a rug and get open against off coverage. His size and skill set projects him as a slot receiver at the pro level. Lacy's run-after-the-catch ability means he can take short passes and turn them into long gains. He also can contribute as a dangerous return man in the NFL. Lacy will need to learn the full route tree and prove himself against press coverage to play up to his full potential. He's seen as a Day 3 pick with upside.
Cincinnati WR Cyrus Allen 'wreaked havoc' on the defensive backs during Senior Bowl practices and made several contested catches, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Footballguys view: Scouts know that Allen can 'churn and burn' on the football field. He's got blazing speed and is a big-play threat anytime he runs a route. Allen has a nose for the end zone as evidenced by his Big-12 leading 13 receiving touchdowns in 2025. He's got to become a more natural hands-catcher (too many body catches on film for our liking) and clean up his concentration drops. Allen is projected a Day 3 pick with upside.
LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier's consistency stood out during Senior Bowl practices, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Footballguys view: It's a great week of work at the Senior Bowl for a quarterback who was once thought of as a first-round lock. Now, after an injury-plagued and inconsistent 2025 season we should see Nussmeier as a mid-round pick. Nussmeier is known as a smart quarterback who tends to go a bit too much into 'gunslinger' mode when under duress. With his performance at the Senior Bowl, Nussmeier might move into the late second or early third round.
Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson 'stood out for his inconsistency' during Senior Bowl practices, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now, and Saunders estimates that 20% of Robertson's attempts resulted in 'uncatchable passes.'
