Washington Commanders impending free-agent QB Marcus Mariota said he enjoys Washington but is open to signing with another team if it means competing for the starting job. 'If something presents itself, great,' Mariota said. 'I will take time to iron it out, but I do love it here.'

Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson said he wants to sign a long-term deal to remain with the team.
Link to storyBaltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry recorded his fourth season with at least 1,500 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns and 5.0 yards per carry in 2025, and Jim Brown is the only other play with two such seasons.

Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce became the first player to average 20-plus yards per reception (minimum 35 catches) in back-to-back seasons since Flipper Anderson in 1989-90.
Link to storyTennessee Titans WR Chimere Dike's 2,427 all-purpose yards in 2025 were the most by a rookie in NFL history, surpassing the mark set by Tim Brown in 1988.

Buffalo Bills RB James Cook's 216 rushing yards against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8 were the most on record by a player who did not record a rushing attempt in the fourth quarter.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills QB Josh Allen's 301 total touchdowns through his first eight seasons are the most in NFL history, and he has more touchdowns than six teams during that span.

Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr. will have to answer questions about his 'true top-end speed and his route tree' ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, according to Jordan Reid of ESPN.com.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR George Pickens and owner Jerry Jones have been discussing a contract extension, according to Jones, and Jones said he is 'looking forward to getting things worked out' with Pickens.
Footballguys view: Of course Jones is going to say that....and then he's likely to play hardball with the star receiver. The Cowboys just do that with big-money deals (see Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, etc). We believe they'll use the franchise tag on Pickens. That gives the two sides until mid-July to work out a long-term deal.
Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward threw 10 touchdowns and only one interception during the second half of the 2025 regular season. He threw five touchdowns and six interceptions during the first half of the season.
Footballguys view: Ward showed all the signs you need to see from a no.1 overall pick. Now, the Titans have plenty of work to do around him, but he flashed talent as a rookie. With better talent on offense in the passing game, Ward could start to flourish even more as a passer in 2026.
Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce caught all six of his touchdowns during the second half of the 2025 regular season. He also recorded 617 of his 1,003 receiving yards during that span.
Footballguys view: Pierce is one of the best wide receivers who could be available in free agency this offseason. We'll see if the Colts decide to franchise tag him, and the deadline to do that is on Feb. 17. Pierce takes the top off the defense, and that's why he's averaged over 20 yards per catch each of the last two seasons.
Seattle Seahawks FB Robbie Ouzts (neck) was limited during practice Friday, Feb. 6, and is listed as questionable for Super Bowl LX. OT Joshua Jones (ankle, knee) was limited during practice but is not on the injury report. WR Jake Bobo (hand), OT Charles Cross (foot), QB Sam Darnold (oblique), S Nick Emmanwori (ankle), LB Ernest Jones (chest), LB DeMarcus Lawrence (non-injury), S Julian Love (shoulder), FB Brady Russell (hand), TE Eric Saubert (hamstring), WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (non-injury), LB Drake Thomas (shoulder) and DE Leonard Williams (non-injury) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.

Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 6, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LX.
Footballguys view: JSN could be the Super Bowl MVP. It's rare for wide receivers to win the award, but he's going to make big plays for Seattle in the biggest game. We're excited to see what he's got in store in the Super Bowl against the Patriots. Smith-Njigba is the best player on the field for either team.

Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 6, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LX.
Footballguys view: The oblique injury was a slight concern, but Darnold is not on the injury report. What a great story Darnold has over the last few years, and he could cap things off with a Super Bowl win.

New England Patriots LB Harold Landry (knee) and LB Robert Spillane (ankle) were limited during practice Friday, Feb. 6, and are listed as questionable for Super Bowl LX. DT Joshua Farmer (hamstring) fully participated in practice but is listed as questionable. OT Morgan Moses (non-injury), QB Drake Maye (shoulder) and OT Thayer Munford (knee) fully participated in practice and are not on the injury report.
Link to storyHarold Landry III player page
New England Patriots QB Drake Maye (shoulder) fully participated in practice Friday, Feb. 6, and is not on the injury report for Super Bowl LX.
Footballguys view: Maye is in his second season, and he could win the Super Bowl. He's a remarkable player with a big arm and the ability to lead his team from behind. Maye's shoulder is not a concern entering the game, but the team needs to protect him from big hits as the ferocious Seattle defense swarms around him.
Seattle Seahawks impending free-agent RB Kenneth Walker III said he would like to re-sign with the Seahawks this offseason.
Footballguys view: If Walker hits free agency, there will be many teams lined up for his services (Broncos?). He's a powerful player who can be trusted as a three-down back. There's an outside chance that Walker wins Super Bowl MVP if the Seahawks lean on the rushing attack to soften up the Patriots on Sunday.
Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins said he is feeling good after playing this season and is looking to play next season.
Footballguys view: Cousins didn't look terrible playing last year for an injured Michael Penix. He's not the same player he used to be, but with bad quarterback play around the league a team could do worse than Cousins. The Falcons may release Cousins after re-working his deal, but there's a chance they'd work hard to bring him back at a better price.

Former Washington Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury is joining the Los Angeles Rams coaching staff in an undetermined role.
Footballguys view: Who knows what the role is going to be, but this is great for Kingsbury's career. He's got a chance to learn from Sean McVay, and if you look around the league you see a ton of McVay (Shanahan tree) coaches. It may not be long before Kingsbury gets another shot to be a head coach in this league.

Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza is not making throwing at the NFL Scouting Combine a 'priority.' He tells Pat McAfee he intends to throw for NFL scouts at his Pro Day.
Footballguys view: Mendoza is seen as the no.1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Now, he's not as 'toolsy' as other quarterbacks taken in that spot, but Mendoza is seen as the best of the bunch this year. Expect the Raiders to zero in on making Mendoza their pick and handing him the reins to an offense that features RB Ashton Jeanty and TE Brock Bowers.
Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) said he's ahead of schedule in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Footballguys view: Penix went down in Week 11 with a season-ending knee injury. He wants to be ready for Week 1 of the 2026 season, and being ahead of schedule puts him on a better track. Even if Penix is able to play, he might not be 100 percent until the halfway point of the season.
San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey eclipsed 2,000 yards from scrimmage for the third time in his career in 2025, and in the seasons after his previous two 2,000-yard campaigns, he played in a combined seven games. 'You've got to be ready to play in the games as much as possible,' McCaffrey said. 'I'll do whatever it takes for this team.'
Footballguys view: There's always a concern about McCaffrey being able to stay healthy. He runs hard and plays with a fire that few can match. That style (and his large workload) leads to a lot of hits. We'll see what he can do next year with a sizable role, but Fantasy GMs who draft McCaffrey are already conditioned to be ready for him to miss time.

New York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) had a full meniscus repair as well as anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and he said his rehab has been going phenomenal.
Footballguys view: It's good to have some clarity on Nabers' recovery. Giants GM Joe Schoen said last month that the team is hopeful Nabers will be ready for the start of training camp.

Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane rushed for 916 yards and seven touchdowns at home during the 2025 regular season. He rushed for 434 yards and one touchdown during road games.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins were a much better team at home, which backs up the idea that Mike McDaniel built a "warm weather" team. There's no colder place to play in the NFL than Green Bay, which is where new head coach Jeff Hafley is coming from. New Dolphins offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik was on last year's staff and has spent many years on the same staff as McDaniel in San Francisco, so there should be continuity, but it can't be an upgrade. Hopefully Hafley's cold weather background can help balance out these splits in 2026.
San Francisco 49ers QB Mac Jones said he believes he has shown that he can be a starter in the NFL but is fine with remaining with the 49ers next season.
Footballguys view: Jones was definitely one of the 32 best quarterbacks in the league this season, and he was also a relevant quarterback in fantasy leagues. Minnesota is a logical landing spot for him, but it's unclear what the asking price will be for Jones in a trade, and if he would want a new contract upon getting dealt. One way or the other, he will start again in the NFL, which should be factored into his dynasty value, especially in superflex leagues.

Free-agent RB Jordan Waters (Rams) signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Los Angeles Rams Thursday, Feb. 5, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyNew England Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson became the second player in NFL history to have two games with multiple 50-yard rushing touchdowns in his career, joining retired RB Chris Johnson.
Footballguys view: Unfortunately, that's about where the highlight reel ends for Henderson's rookie season - at least as of right now. He barely saw the field in the AFC title game and the Patriots probably won't play him much in the Super Bowl to avoid exposing his subpar pass blocking to the Seahawks pass rush. Henderson's debut season was more flash than substance.
Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward threw 10 of his 15 touchdown passes during the final eight games, and he only had one of his seven interceptions during that span.
Footballguys view: Ward did this with a midseason head coach change and arguably the weakest supporting cast in the league. Brian Daboll should improve the scheme and playcalling, and the Titans will bring in more help for Ward this offseason. He's a buy in superflex dynasty leagues.
Alabama QB Ty Simpson wasn't given a Round 1 grade by any of the teams that ESPN's Matt Miller spoke with at the 2026 Senior Bowl.
Footballguys view: Simpson's family says basically the opposite, which should set up a great storyline for the first night of the draft. Mississippi QB Trinidad Chambliss had his waiver request for an additional year of eligibility denied, so if his January 12 court hearing doesn't change his fate, he could push Simpson for QB2 on some team's boards. The Jets and Steelers are two teams that have already been mentioned as possible landing spots for Simpson.
Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique) said his oblique feels really good heading into the Super Bowl. 'It feels really good,' Darnold said Wednesday morning. 'Definitely the time off has helped a little bit. I'm always just going to take it one step at a time, do my rehab and do everything I need to do to make sure it feels great going into practice and going into the game... on Sunday.'
Footballguys view: Neither Super Bowl quarterback is 100%, but Darnold played more than well enough against Rams to assuage any worries about his condition. We should project him the way we normally would after he got in a full practice on Thursday.

Footballguys view: Good news for Maye and the Patriots here. He's not going to miss the Super Bowl, and practicing fully shows that he's on track for Sunday.

Seattle Seahawks QB Sam Darnold (oblique), WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (non-injury), DL DeMarcus Lawrence (non-injury), DL Leonard Williams (non-injury), S Nick Emmanwori (ankle), FB Robbie Ouzts (neck), OT Charles Cross (foot) and OT Joshua Jones (ankle, knee) were limited during practice Wednesday, Feb. 4. WR Jake Bobo (hand), LB Ernest Jones (chest), S Julian Love (shoulder), FB Brady Russell (hand), LB Drake Thomas (shoulder) and TE Eric Saubert (hamstring) were full participants.
Footballguys view: Smith-Njigba is just getting some rest on a Wednesday before the big game. Darnold's oblique injury won't cause him to miss the game, but we'd like to see him fully practicing before the end of the week.

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts threw 14 touchdowns and only one interception at home during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Hurts is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he's great at home. With three years left on his deal, the Eagles will push for another Super Bowl run in 2026. Hurts should continue being a dominant passer at home.
