Panthers | No designation for Xavier Legette    Fri Oct 31, 01:06 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette (illness) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 31, and is not on the injury report for Week 9.

Footballguys view: It's been a disappointing year for Legette, who has scored just twice amidst injuries. His biggest game came in Week 7, when Andy Dalton stepped in and built on the connection they had developed last year. He makes for a hazardous flex play in deep leagues.

Panthers | Week 9 injury report for Carolina    Fri Oct 31, 01:02 PM

Carolina Panthers OL Cade Moays (ankle, knee) and DE Princely Umanmielen (ankle) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 9 against the Green Bay Packers. QB Andy Dalton (thumb), OT Taylor Moton (knee), and LB Trevin Wallace (shoulder) were limited in practice on Friday, Oct. 31, and are listed as questionable. G Damien Lewis (oblique), S Nick Scott (groin), and G Chandler Zavala (knee) practiced in full on Friday and are listed as questionable. DE Derrick Brown (knee), WR Jimmy Horn Jr. (shoulder), Wr Xavier Legette (illness), and QB Bryce Young (ankle) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Panthers | Bryce Young good to go    Fri Oct 31, 12:37 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) carries no injury designation for Week 9 and will return.

Footballguys view: Young has been practicing in full all week, and there's no expectation that his ankle isn't good to go for this matchup. Young has had a quiet season, eclipsing 300 yards in just one game this year. The Panthers' running game has found its groove, but they'll have a tough matchup this weekend against a stout Packers defense.

Panthers | Chuba Hubbard likely for backup role?    Wed Oct 29, 03:10 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard has rotated with RB Rico Dowdle in two games since returning from a calf injury. Head coach Dave Canales appears ready to abandon the rotation in favor of Dowdle. 'Chuba has meant a lot to this organization and certainly to the identity of what we want to build and we wanted to give him the opportunity to go out there and to continue to impact our team in a positive way,' Canales said Tuesday, Oct. 28. 'But we cannot ignore the fact Rico has been exceptional.'

Footballguys view: Hubbard is not as explosive as Dowdle is, and the team has to recognize that. We still see Hubbard having flex appeal for the Panthers if/when Dowdle takes over in the backfield.

Panthers | Full practice for Bryce Young    Wed Oct 29, 02:40 PM

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Oct. 29.

Footballguys view: Young is considered day-to-day with this ankle injury. A full participation on Wednesday is a good sign for his return in Week 9. Andy Dalton started last week and was not great, so Young's return will be welcomed by the Panthers. Let's make sure Young doesn't have any setbacks in practice this week.

Panthers | Rico Dowdle in line for larger role    Wed Oct 29, 12:05 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Rico Dowdle appears to be in line for a bulk of the carries, and head coach Dave Canales indicated that the two-week rotation with RB Chuba Hubbard could be abandoned. 'We love tempo and violence that he is running with,' Canales said Tuesday, Oct. 28. 'These are things we are looking back on the last four games and really taking a snapshot of what has been successful for us.'

Footballguys view: Dowdle is producing more than Chuba Hubbard, and the Panthers are moving to adjust their plan. That means Dowdle could be in line for more work, and Hubbard will serve more as a reserve. Keeping that in mind, Fantasy GMs should consider Dowdle an RB2/flex option and Hubbard as a RB3/deep flex play.

Panthers | Canales: Panthers can't ignore Rico Dowdle's impact    Mon Oct 27, 04:11 PM

The Panthers moved Chuba Hubbard back into the starting lineup when the running back returned from a calf strain in Week 7, but Rico Dowdle may be returning to the role he filled while Hubbard was out. On Monday, head coach Dave Canales said that Dowdle has been "exceptional" and that conversations about how to handle the timeshare in the backfield will "definitely" be taking place in the coming days. "We cannot ignore the fact that Rico has made an impact when he's been out there. So these are things that we're talking through as a staff, and we'll make that decision as the week goes on."

Footballguys view: Dowdle ran eight times for 54 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills, while Hubbard had 12 carries for 34 yards and a touchdown. Dowdle also led the team in rushing in Week 7, and he posted 472 yards from scrimmage in his two starts earlier this season. The Panthers fell to 4-4 with Sunday's loss, and they'll hope to have quarterback Bryce Young back with Dowdle and Hubbard for their Week 9 road game against the Packers. We'll continue to watch for more.

Panthers | Bryce Young day-to-day in return from ankle injury    Mon Oct 27, 02:09 PM

Though he missed Sunday's loss to the Bills, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is getting closer to returning from an ankle injury. Head coach Dave Canales provided an update on the quarterback during his Monday press conference. "With Bryce, [he's] just getting better every day," Canales said. "Had a good session running today in return-to-play. The goal is to get him out there on Wednesday, move him around, see if we can get him into practice in a mode. So, I'm optimistic he'll be out there. But we're going to take it day-to-day with him."

Footballguys view: Young suffered the injury during the Week 7 win over the Jets. As PFT noted, Andy Dalton played poorly in his start against Buffalo yesterday, finishing 16-of-24 for 175 yards with an interception and two lost fumbles. In his third season, Young has completed 62 percent of his throws for 1,288 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions so far in 2025. He's also rushed for 69 yards with a TD. The Panthers will be on the road to face the Packers in Week 9.

Panthers | Xavier Legette limited to two catches    Sun Oct 26, 05:16 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette ended up with two receptions for 17 yards on three targets in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills.

Footballguys view: One week after a career game, Legette's most impactful contribution to this game was a holding penalty that took the team out of the red zone on their first scoring drive, which only amounted to a field goal. He's not an essential hold heading into a tough matchup against Green Bay.

Panthers | Tetairoa McMillan just misses triple digits    Sun Oct 26, 05:06 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan posted a career-high seven receptions for 99 yards on 10 targets in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, just missing his second career 100-yard game.

Footballguys view: Andy Dalton at least made good on his reputation for feeding his #1 receiver in this lopsided loss. McMillan probably isn't going to hit his ceiling this season with uneven quarterback play to date, but he has looked like a real NFL #1 receiver as a rookie and surely has a bright future. His value will be a little higher next week against the Packers if Dalton starts, but Panthers fans should be rooting for Bryce Young to be healthy enough to play.

Panthers | Chuba Hubbard struggles in Week 8    Sun Oct 26, 04:58 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard rushed 12 times for just 34 yards in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, although he did have a rushing touchdown. He was targeted once, but ended up with zero receptions, too.

Footballguys view: Hubbard's garbage time touchdown at least gave fantasy teams something for their trouble, but he was outshined by Rico Dowdle again in this game. The blowout game flow got Hubbard on the field more than Dowdle, but the Panthers have to see what we are seeing. Hubbard is only bench depth against the Packers next week and may not be startable for the rest of the season unless Dowdle gets hurt.

Panthers | Rico Dowdle limited to eight touches    Sun Oct 26, 04:54 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Rico Dowdle rushed eight times for a team-best 54 yards in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, while he was not targeted in the passing game.

Footballguys view: Dowdle was clearly the more effective Panthers back again, but Andy Dalton's miscues and the defensive failings against James Cook and Khalil Shakir denied the running back and running game a chance to get in a groove. Chuba Hubbard was on the field a lot more than Dowdle in the blowout loss game script, and he got the garbage time touchdown. Don't drop Dowdle, but if Dalton starts again at Green Bay next week, it's probably best to keep him on your bench if you can.

Panthers | Andy Dalton has disastrous Week 8 start    Sun Oct 26, 04:49 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton completed 16-of-24 passes for 175 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, while running twice for one yard with two lost fumbles.

Footballguys view: Dalton looked like a quarterback who is in the December of his career. His turnovers and mistakes made it impossible for the Panthers to be competitive with the Bills in Week 8. Bryce Young's practice status becomes more important for the 4-4 team heading into a game at Green Bay. The Packers D/ST might be worth picking up either way.

Panthers | Bryce Young back in Week 9?    Sat Oct 25, 03:06 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) is hopeful that he can return against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9.

Footballguys view: It's a high-ankle sprain for Young, and those can take a few weeks to properly heal. Andy Dalton is starting in Week 8 for the Panthers. We'll see what Young can do in practice next week.

Panthers | Andy Dalton officially named Week 8 starter    Sat Oct 25, 09:49 AM

Carolina Panthers QB Andy Dalton will start Week 8's game versus the Buffalo Bills, regardless of whether or not QB Bryce Young (ankle) is declared active, according to a club spokesperson.

Footballguys view: We'll see how the passing game for the Panthers operates with Andy Dalton as their starting quarterback. Against the Bills in Week 8, Dalton could post numbers worthy of starting in fantasy leagues....but only in start-2 QB/superflex leagues.

Panthers | Doubtful tag for Bryce Young    Fri Oct 24, 05:25 PM

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 24, and is listed as doubtful for Week 8.

Footballguys view: All signs are pointing to an Andy Dalton start. Last year, Dalton kept the passing game afloat during his five starts. While he doesn't warrant consideration in fantasy leagues outside of two-quarterback and superflex leagues, he gives us a bit more faith in the Panthers' receivers than Young has so far.

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) is expected to miss the Week 8 game against the Buffalo Bills with a high-ankle sprain. QB Andy Dalton is in line to start.

Footballguys view: In his third season, Young has completed 62 percent of his throws for 1,288 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions so far this season. He's also rushed for 69 yards with a TD. Dalton is in his third season with Carolina, having started at least one game each year. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 60 yards against the Jets on Sunday.

Panthers | Bryce Young in a walking boot; QB will have further testing    Sun Oct 19, 10:08 PM

The Carolina Panthers could be without starting quarterback Bryce Young for next week's game against the Buffalo Bills because of a sprained ankle, a source close to the situation told ESPN on Sunday. Coach Dave Canales would not speculate on the severity of the injury. Young was seen in a walking boot after the game. "We're taking all the information in,'' Canales said. "We're going to look at him when we get home some more and see where we are.''

Footballguys view: Young twisted his right ankle while taking a sack late in the third quarter of Sunday's 13-6 victory against the New York Jets. He went to the locker room with athletic trainers and did not return. Running back Rico Dowdle talked to Young after the game and asked him if he would be OK. "I know he got the X-ray and stuff, but he said he's going to be fine,'' said Dowdle. Veteran Andy Dalton, 37, finished the game and would start against the Bills if Young can't play.
