Link to storyFormer Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy will interview for the New York Giants head coaching position.
Link to storyFormer Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski will interview for the New York Giants head coaching vacancy on Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Footballguys view: As SI.com noted, this isn't the first time Stefanski is on the Giants' radar. Back in 2018, when he was the Vikings' offensive coordinator, then-Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was interested in adding Stefanski to his staff, but the Vikings denied the Giants' request to speak with him. Stefanski instead landed in Cleveland, where he won NFL Coach of the Year honors in 2020 and 2023. Stefanski, who holds a 45-56 regular-season record and is 1-2 in the postseason, is widely regarded as the early favorite to land the Giants' job, given his work with quarterbacks and offenses in general.
Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was requested by the New York Giants to interview for their head coach vacancy on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Footballguys view: Anarumo has been linked to the Giants' head coach opening since they fired Brian Daboll in November. At the time, the Colts were a hot team with a defense that was leading the charge toward a playoff berth. But the Colts missed the playoffs, and Anarumo is available. According to AtoZ Sports, a prime reason Anarumo was brought into the coaching search is his connection to New York. He's from Staten Island and attended Wagner College, where he began his coaching career in 1989. He also spent a year with the Giants in 2018 on Pat Shurmur's staff.
Free-agent TE Tanner Conner (Giants) signed a Reserve/Future contract with the New York Giants Monday, Jan. 5. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyNew York Giants WR Malik Nabers (knee) said he is not sure if he will be ready for the start of the 2026 regular season and it will depend on how his body feels leading up to the game.
Footballguys view: Nabers said he had "a lot messed up in my knee, which I was told was successfully operated on." He did not need a second surgery. Nabers has not decided where he'll rehab -- New York, in Dallas, where he underwent surgery, at home in Louisiana, or somewhere else. He said the foot injury that he dealt with last offseason has healed. Nabers has 127 catches for 1,475 yards and nine touchdowns in 19 career games. With a coaching change coming, Nabers' progress is something we'll be watching closely over the coming weeks.
New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen will return in 2026.
Footballguys view: Giants co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch said in a statement Monday that they are prioritizing "continuity and stability" in the front office, calling it "important to our progress." New York (4-13) has the fifth pick in the 2026 NFL draft after winning its final two games. Their last two draft classes appear promising (with Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, Abdul Carter, Cam Skattebo, and Tyrone Tracy Jr.), seemingly guiding the decision to retain Schoen. "We believe in our young core of talent, which we can build around for future success," Mara and Tisch said in their statement Monday.
New York Giants S Dane Belton recorded 13 tackles - eight solo - in a Week 18 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyNew York Giants TE Daniel Bellinger caught both targets for 38 yards and a touchdown in a Week 18 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyNew York Giants WR Gunner Olszewski caught eight of nine targets for 102 yards in a Week 18 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Add Olszewski to the pantheon of Week 18 (formerly Week 17) one week wonders and the list of offensive accomplishments against the Cowboys that should cause shame, starting with making Russell Wilson look like a good NFL quarterback in the first matchup between these teams this season.

New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. carried 18 times for 103 yards and caught eight of nine targets for 56 yards and a touchdown in a Week 18 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Tracy was overtaken quickly by fourth round pick Cam Skattebo, but after the rookie went down, he reminded us at times of why he was considered a possible long term answer in the backfield before the Giants selected Skattebo. He projects as a high ceiling backup and will be 28 when he hits free agency in 2028, so Tracy's dynasty value peak may already be behind him.
New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart completed 22 of 32 for 231 yards and two touchdowns and ran five times for 32 yards in a Week 18 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: There's no doubt that Dart outperformed expectations in his rookie year, but he will still go into the offseason with uncertainty at head coach and questions about whether he should be safer with his decisions as a runner. Dart was a strong fantasy QB1 at times without Malik Nabers, so we could be underestimating his dynasty value.
New York Giants CB Rico Payton (concussion) left the Week 18 game in the second half against the Dallas Cowboys to be evaluated for concussion.

New York Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson (rib) did not participate in practice Thursday, Jan. 1.
Footballguys view: That's two DNPs for Robinson so far this week. The Giants take on the Cowboys in Week 18, and Robinson would be a boost for the offense (especially coming off a 100-yard game in Week 17). Fantasy GMs considering Robinson as a flex option will have to check back on Friday to see if he's practiced in at least a limited fashion.

New York Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson (rib) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Footballguys view: Robinson caught 11-of-14 targets for 113 yards in the Giants' Week 17 win over the Raiders. He's likely a bit sore, and rib injuries come down to pain tolerance. We like Robinson as a WR3/flex if he plays against the Cowboys on Sunday.
New York Giants TE Theo Johnson (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Footballguys view: It's too early to tell if Johnson is going to be available for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. He's a TE3 if he does play in Week 18.
New York Giants RB Dante Miller and TE Zach Davidson reverted back to the practice squad Monday, Dec. 29, after being on the active roster for Week 17.

New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart is no doubt a franchise quarterback, according to interim head coach Mike Kafka.
Footballguys view: After the Giants defeated the Raiders 34-10 on Sunday, Dart was asked about a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that said the Giants would have been open to selecting a quarterback, most likely Indiana's Fernando Mendoza, if they lost to the Raiders and secured the first pick in the draft. Dart, who has completed 194 of 307 passes (63.2%) for 2,042 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions (he's also run for nine touchdowns), exceeded expectations. But it remains to be seen who'll be running the Giants in 2026 -- and how they view Dart.
New York Giants S Jevon Holland (knee) left the Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he was unable to return. He finished with two total stops before departing.

New York Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. rushed 14 times for 62 yards in Week 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders, while adding a single catch for minus-5 yards on two targets.
Link to storyWan'Dale Robinson caught 11 passes for 113 yards in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Raiders.
Footballguys view: Robinson topped 1,000 receiving yards for the season. The impending free agent needed 99 yards to hit the milestone for the first time in his career. "It's huge," QB Jaxson Dart said this past week of trying to get Robinson to the mark. Worth noting: Robinson became the first player 5-8 or shorter to reach the 1,000-yard mark since 5-7 Richard Johnson in 1989. Robinson is also just the third since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, according to Sportradar. Look for Robinson to be a factor again next year, playing with Dart and opposite Malik Nabers, who should return from his torn ACL to be the WR1.
Giants Quarterback Jaxson went 22-of-30 for 207 yards with a pair of rushing touchdowns in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Raiders.
Footballguys view: Dart rebounded Sunday after a few down performances. He now has nine rushing touchdowns this season, second most of any rookie quarterback in NFL history behind Cam Newton (11). He'll be an interesting prospect in a Giants offense with Wan'Dale Robinson emerging as a strong option to play opposite Makik Nabers, when the latter returns from his torn ACL next season. There will almost certainly be new offense to learn when the team hires its next coach, but Dart's value will remain high.
