Browns | Aden Durde set to interview for Cleveland HC job Tue Jan 6, 06:31 PM
Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde is receiving interest from the Cleveland Browns regarding their head coaching vacancy, and the Browns have requested permission to interview him, according to a source.
Link to storyBaltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken has been requested to interview for the Cleveland Browns' head coaching vacancy.
Footballguys view: Monken, 59, has been with the Ravens for the last three seasons. But he was also the Browns' OC under former head coach Freddie Kitchens in 2019. Kitchens called plays for Cleveland that season. The Ravens have finished No. 6, No. 1, and No. 16 in yards and No. 4, No. 3, and No. 11 in points in the team's last three seasons under Monken.
Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders made solid improvements this season but is still a work in progress, according to general manager Andrew Berry. Berry said he is not sure if the starting quarterback for next season is currently on the roster.
Footballguys view: Sanders completed 56.6 percent of his passes for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his eight appearances with seven starts. He put together his first fourth-quarter comeback and game-winning drive with Sunday's 20-18 victory over the Bengals. With a new coach coming, it remains to be seen how Sanders will be viewed as he competes with Dillon Gabriel, Deshaun Watson, and any newcomer who's brought into the mix.
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is expected to be on the 2026 roster at this point, but general manager Andrew Berry said the team will not need to make a final decision for a while.
Footballguys view: If Watson winds up being a part of the team in 2026, it will be interesting to see how Cleveland's new coach handles a potential competition between Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and any other quarterback the club acquires over the course of the offseason.

Fired as head coach of the Browns on Monday, Kevin Stefanski may not wait long to find his next job. Stefanski is expected to speak with the Giants, Falcons, and Titans about their head coaching vacancies, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Footballguys view: As PFT noted, reporters on the Giants beat have been naming Stefanski as a potential top candidate for New York for weeks. Now Stefanski is officially available and can speak with the Giants about their opening. A two-time AP coach of the year, Stefanski, 43, compiled a 45-56 record in six seasons with the Browns. The club went to the postseason twice, winning one playoff game in Stefanski's tenure. Before becoming Cleveland's head coach, Stefanski was with Minnesota from 2006-2019, serving in various assistant roles until he was promoted to offensive coordinator during the 2018 season.
Free-agent TE Sal Cannella (Browns), WR Luke Floriea (Browns), RB Ahmani Marshall (Browns) and TE Caden Prieskorn (Browns) signed Reserve/Future contracts with the Cleveland Browns Monday, Jan. 5. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Link to storyCleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was fired Monday, Jan. 5.
Footballguys view: The Browns also announced that Andrew Berry, who arrived in Cleveland with Stefanski in 2020, will remain as general manager. Cleveland finished the 2025 season with a 5-12 record, their second straight last-place finish in the AFC North, and their fourth losing season under Stefanski. During his six seasons, the Browns used an NFL-high 13 starting quarterbacks, who ranked in the bottom five in completion percentage and threw an NFL-high 98 interceptions. That's an issue that must be resolved before any coach is going to have success in Cleveland. We'll have more on the coming search as it plays out.
Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku told reporters following the team's Week 18 win against the Cincinnati Bengals that he would like to remain with the team even as he is set to become a free agent this offseason.
Footballguys view: "I do (want to return to Cleveland), but it's not up to me," the 29-year-old said. Njoku has played 118 games, caught 384 catches for 4,062 yards with 34 touchdowns -- all as a member of the Browns, who drafted him in the first round in 2017. The team took a chance on a tight end with hopes that he could be a pivotal member of the offense for years to come. While the Browns fired HC Kevin Stefanski Monday, GM Andrew Berry will remain. That could work in Njoku's favor, although the emergence of Harold Fannin Jr. does not.

Cleveland Browns RB Raheim Sanders rushed five times for 26 yards in Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals, while posting a 7-yard reception on his lone target.
Link to storyCleveland Browns RB Dylan Sampson rushed 10 times for 32 yards in Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals, while adding two receptions for 12 yards on three targets.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders completed 11-of-22 passes for 111 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals, while running three times for 26 yards with one lost fumble.
Footballguys view: The Browns scored two defensive touchdowns in the first quarter and Sanders added two second half field goal drives, including one that ended with the game-winning field goal from Andre Szmyt. Sanders played the best this season of any of the quarterbacks on the roster, but Deshaun Watson didn't play this season. Cleveland could make a move at quarterback in the first round of the draft or free agency. The Browns go into the offseason with more questions than answers on offense.
Cleveland Browns CB Sam Webb finished with four total stops, two solo tackles and a fumble recovery for a 47-yard touchdown in the Week 18 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Link to storyCleveland Browns LB Devin Bush posted game highs with 14 total stops and six solo tackles with a pass defensed and a 97-yard interception return for touchdown in the Week 18 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett had a solo tackle, a sack, a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits in Week 18 against the Cincinnati. He reached 23 sacks to set a new NFL single-season mark, breaking the record held by former New York Giants DE Michael Strahan and current Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt.
Footballguys view: We throw around the term generational talent too often, but Garrett has ended up being exactly that. The Browns are at an eternal crossroads when it comes to their quarterback situation, but Garrett and the defense are good enough to make them a winner if they can just become a middle of the road offense. We'll be watching to see what they do in response to finishing 31st in scoring, after finishing 32nd in 2024.

Cleveland Browns RB Dylan Sampson (hand) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 2, and is not on the injury report for Week 18.
Footballguys view: Sampson should operate as the team's top running back with both Quinshon Judkins and Jerome Ford on IR. Expect a dose of Raheim Sanders, but Sampson is the guy to start in fantasy this week. He's a back-end RB2.
