Browns | Bub Means added to CLE practice squad Mon Aug 31, 09:18 PM
Free-agent WR Bub Means (Saints) was added to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad, according to a source on Monday, Aug. 31.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Kole Wilson (Browns) was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad Monday, Aug. 31.
Link to storyCleveland Browns CB Isaiah Bond (head) is believed to be out of the concussion protocol, but it is not known if he will practice Monday, Aug. 31, according to head coach Todd Monken.
Footballguys view: Bond left Saturday's preseason game against the Buffalo Bills with a head injury. The second-year receiver appeared to hit his head while making a catch in the first half of the game. He was taken into the medical tent and, a short time later, walked back with trainers to the locker room for further evaluation. He was listed as questionable to return to the game to be checked for a concussion. If we don't find out more this week, we'll certainly know more when Week 1 rolls around, and injuries must be reported.

Cleveland Browns QB Dillon Gabriel (back) was placed on the reserve/injured list Sunday, Aug. 30, with a designation to return. He must miss the first four games of the regular season. As such, rookie QB Taylen Green opens the season as the No. 3 quarterback.
Footballguys view: We wouldn't be surprised to see one or both Green and Gabriel to start at some point this season. The Browns solved the problem of how to keep four quarterbacks on the roster, but they will need to open up a roster spot for Gabriel during the season if they plan on using him.
Cleveland Browns QB Taylen Green made the initial 53-man roster Sunday, Aug. 30, and he will serve as the No. 3 quarterback behind starter QB Deshaun Watson and backup QB Shedeur Sanders, with QB Dillon Gabriel (back) on the reserve/injured list to start.
Footballguys view: Green is a size/speed freak athlete in the mold of Terrelle Pryor. He is probably even more raw than Pryor was coming into the league, but the Browns may want to see what they have in him before they inevitably take a quarterback in the first round next year. Green should be on a roster in superflex dynasty leagues.
Cleveland Browns RB Davon Booth, WR Luke Floriea, WR Gage Larvadain, RB Ahmani Marshall and WR Kole Wilson were waived Sunday, Aug. 30, as the team trimmed its roster down to 53.

Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Dillon Gabriel completed 12 of his 15 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns during the preseason game against the New England Patriots Thursday, Aug. 27.
Footballguys view: Will Gabriel start a game for the Browns this year? Will he start more games than any other Browns quarterback? Will he even make the team? He should after this performance. Keep him on your superflex dynasty radar.

Link to storyCleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (undisclosed) is participating in practice Monday, Aug. 24, on a limited basis.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Judkins missed the final two practices of last week before sitting out Saturday's preseason loss to the Bills due to what coach Todd Monken described as "a little something nagging, nothing big. Even though he's mixing back into drills, it wouldn't be a surprise if the team goes easy on Judkins with Week 1 still nearly three weeks away.
Cleveland Browns WR Isaiah Bond (head) is not participating in practice Monday, Aug. 24, because he is going through the concussion protocol.
Footballguys view: The Browns initially announced that Bond was being evaluated for a concussion after he exited during the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Bills. He was cleared to return in the third quarter but did not re-enter the game, with many of Cleveland's key players already finished for the day. Bond's absence Monday indicates that he developed symptoms after passing the in-game evaluation. He will now have to complete the league's concussion protocol before returning to practice.

Deshaun Watson will open the season as the Cleveland Browns' starting quarterback, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Footballguys view: Watson emerged as the starter in a competition with Shedeur Sanders that stretched into the first two preseason games. The Browns' first two regular-season games of the 2026 season are on the road -- at Jacksonville and then at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- before returning home to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 3. Watson has a 9-10 record as the Browns' starting quarterback, and his last two seasons as the starter have ended due to injury. Expecting him to hold the job all season seems like a reach, but he gets the first shot.

Cleveland Browns QBs Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson are battling for the No. 1 job, and head coach Todd Monken indicated Sunday, Aug. 23, that a decision would likely be announced Monday, Aug. 24.
Footballguys view: Watson and Sanders have been splitting first-team reps in practice since the offseason workout program and throughout training camp. But as ProFootballTalk.com suggests, Monken surely knows which quarterback he'll name as the team's starter. However it goes, it seems clear that Monken won't be making a 17-game decision right out of the gate. The man who wins the job as of Week 1 also wins the privilege of being the first guy benched.

Cleveland Browns TE Dae'Quan Wright will be waived, and if he clears waivers, he has an agreement in place to play the 2026 NCAA Football season with the LSU Tigers, according to his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Kyle Lincoln.
Link to storyCleveland Browns DT Michael Hall Jr. is expected to see some time at defensive end, but head coach Todd Monken said Sunday, Aug. 23, that he doesn't think Hall Jr. will make a full-time switch to the position. However, he does have flexibility along the defensive line, which will help after the team lost DE Alex Wright (Achilles).

He spent the previous three seasons with the Houston Texans. Barnett was signed to replace DE Alex Wright (Achilles), who suffered a season-ending injury in joint practices with the Buffalo Bills on Thursday.

Cleveland Browns DE Alex Wright (Achilles) suffered a ruptured left Achilles during a joint-practice session Thursday, and he was placed on the season-ending reserve/injured list on Sunday, Aug. 23.
Footballguys view: This won't help a defense that downgraded from Myles Garrett to Jared Verse as marquee edge rusher this offseason. Wright was an up and comer who was expected to play a big role opposite Verse.
Cleveland Browns WR Malachi Corley (undisclosed) entered the medical tent during the fourth quarter of the preseason game against the Buffalo Bills Saturday, Aug. 22, for an undisclosed injury.
Link to storyUpdating previous reporting, Cleveland Browns WR Isaiah Bond (head) has cleared concussion protocol, according to Cleveland.com's Ashley Bastock on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Footballguys view: An undisclosed injury for a player like Judkins is something to keep track of. We'll know more hopefully in the near future as Judkins is set to be one of the key players on the Browns' offense. We'll see if Judkins (RB19) can pay off as an RB2 for Fantasy GMs this year.
