Browns | Clues About WR Concepcion's Role in 2026? Sat Jun 13, 04:32 PM
Cleveland Browns HC Todd Monken is likely to design touches for "speedy" first-round rookie WR KC Concepcion, according to Zac Jackson from The Athletic.
Footballguys view: Monken is 'hunting mismatches' with Concepcion, and there are clues as to Concepcion's usage in OTAs. With that speed, Concepcion makes for an attractive target - but not just on deep throws. We could see plenty of shorter passes that Concepcion could turn into long gains. Concepcion's route-running ability is also a hallmark of his game. We see the rookie as a WR5 with upside for Fantasy GMs this year.
Cleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. (undisclosed) did not participate in any of the workouts or practices this offseason because of an undisclosed reason, according to The Athletic's Zac Jackson.
Footballguys view: We love what Fannin did as a rookie in 2025, but a groin injury late in the season limited him over the final couple of contests. This is an undisclosed injury, so who knows if his lack of participation is related to that or a new injury. So long as he's healthy for training camp and the preseason, we're not too concerned. With David Njoku (Chargers) gone, Fannin could be a top-10 fantasy tight end in 2026.
Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry told the media on Friday, June 12, that 'everything is on the table' as it relates to QB Deshaun Watson.

Cleveland Browns WR Aaron Anderson (undisclosed) left practice early Thursday, June 11, because of an undisclosed injury.
Link to storyCleveland Browns restricted free-agent S Ronnie Hickman signed his one-year tender Thursday, June 11. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyCleveland Browns WR Jerry Jeudy (hamstring) did not participate in practice Thursday, June 11, because of hamstring discomfort, according to head coach Todd Monken.
Footballguys view: It's June, so no big deal here. Jeudy is a speed receiver who can work defenders because of his route-running ability. With two high-profile rookie receivers added (KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston), it dings the fantasy value for Jeudy. We like him as a WR5/deep flex play in 2026.

Cleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston has been one of the 'standouts' during offseason activities, according to Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: It's easy to see why when considering the physical talent that Boston brings to the field. He's a big-bodied target who can play 'above the rim.' Boston knows how to use his size and strength to box out smaller defenders. He's likely to be the team's no.3 receiver this year, but we love his upside in dynasty formats. With his size and ball skills, Boston produce as a red-zone threat.
Cleveland Browns DT Mason Graham (foot) was seen wearing a walking boot at practice Tuesday, June 9.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson said he is fully healthy and has not felt this good since 2023.
Footballguys view: We'd feel a lot better if Watson said he felt like his 2020 self, as that's the last time he's played anything better than awful. Although Todd Monken won't declare a QB1, a lot of beat reporters are speculating that Watson has the inside track. In the final year of his deal, he hopes to earn another this year. With a new head coach and a handful of fun, young weapons around him, Watson is worth a cheap flyer in dynasty trades and late-round best ball picks.

Cleveland Browns first-round pick WR KC Concepcion signed a four-year, fully guaranteed rookie contract worth $20 million, according to a June 9 report.
Footballguys view: Concepcion profiles to be Cleveland's WR1. He's cut from the same cloth as Zay Flowers and Ladd McConkey, two receivers who found success under Todd Monken. A full guaranteed rookie deal means there will be no speed bumps to a full training camp, setting him up to be a potential breakout rookie.
Cleveland Browns HC Todd Monken is reportedly unlikely to name either QB Deshaun Watson or QB Shedeur Sanders the QB1 for the Browns by the end of Thursday's minicamp, saying 'I'm not there yet', according to a source on Tuesday, June 9.
Footballguys view: Monken might not be ready to name a starter, but most Cleveland reports have hinted at a lean towards Watson. Either way, this quarterback situation is set to be mercurial unless Watson can return to the player he was in Houston. Watson has the highest ceiling of the bunch, and investments in offensive skill players and Monken's system give him some late-round allure in best ball drafts. But John Madden famously said, "If you've got two quarterbacks, you have none." The Browns currently have two quarterbacks.

Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders is working with the first team offense during mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, June 9.
Footballguys view: Sanders' late push during OTAs has complicated things here. His improved command of the offense and more efficient play have given head coach Todd Monken reason to keep the competition open. Most of the offseason, Deshaun Watson appeared to have the edge over Sanders based on his superior athleticism and experience. But Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports that Sanders seemed to have narrowed the gap the past couple of weeks with his grasp of the playbook and increased efficiency. This development could lead Monken to hold off on naming or even determining his QB1 until sometime during training camp.
Cleveland Browns OT Spencer Fano is working with the first-team offense at mandatory minicamp on Tuesday, June 9.
Footballguys view: Fano, the ninth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, joins a revamped offensive line that saw numerous changes during free agency. The latest came today when guard Joel Bitonio announced his retirement. Fano will step into the role at left tackle, as head coach Todd Monken said after the draft. To Monken, Fano's character, athleticism, and toughness were the three traits that stood out and played a large factor in their pursuit of him early in the draft.
Cleveland Browns OG Joel Bitonio announced his retirement Tuesday, June 9.
Footballguys view: Bitonio, 34, spent his entire career in Cleveland, which selected him with the 35th overall pick in the 2014 draft. Bitonio was named to seven Pro Bowls, tied with Myles Garrett for the fourth most in team history. With new head coach Todd Monken at the helm and Bitonio among six offensive linemen who hit free agency, the Browns retooled their trenches this offseason. Cleveland traded for right tackle Tytus Howard, signed interior offensive linemen Zion Johnson and Elgton Jenkins, and re-signed Teven Jenkins. The Browns also drafted left tackle Spencer Fano with the ninth pick in the 2026 draft.
Cleveland Browns DT Michael Hall Jr. (knee) said he has been able to return to practice after suffering a knee injury earlier in the offseason but is wearing a brace on his knee.
Link to storyCleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (ankle, leg) is participating in team drills during the voluntary workout Wednesday, June 3.
Footballguys view: Working in full-team drills is a step up from the individual drills Judkins was limited to last month. Judkins dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula in Week 16 and missed the final two games last season. Judkins had 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games last season. An upgraded offensive line and a new, offensive-minded head coach in Todd Monken could benefit Judkins this season. He's currently being drafted as RB22.
Cleveland Browns DE Markees Watts was placed on the reserve/retired list by the team on Tuesday, June 2.
Link to storyTexas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby is not expected to receive interest from the Cleveland Browns if he enters the 2026 supplemental draft, according to head coach Todd Monken.
Link to storyCleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett is being traded to the Los Angeles Rams Monday, June 1, in exchange for DE Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft choice and other undisclosed draft choices, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: The Browns claimed they had no interest in trading Garrett, and even told that to the Rams, according to ESPN's reporting. But the Rams refused to give up their "persistent pursuit" of Garrett. The Browns told the Rams that no deal would get done without including the 25-year-old Verse, the Rams' 2024 first-round pick, who has had 12 sacks and 22 tackles for loss the past two seasons. The Rams initially were not interested in moving Verse, but eventually began to consider a package with him as long as the draft picks were adjusted appropriately. Now the deal is done.

Free-agent CB Deantre Prince (Jaguars) worked out for the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, May 27, according to a league source.
Link to storyCleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston has done a good job learning the offense and has been making plays during offseason workouts, according to offensive coordinator Travis Switzer.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson and QB Shedeur Sanders are the main candidates for the starting quarterback job, but offensive coordinator Travis Switzer said there is no favorite for the job at this point. Switzer said the team is happy with the progress of both quarterbacks.
Footballguys view: This is a different tone from long time Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot's report making it sound like Watson was the likely Week 1 starter earlier in the offseason and a recent report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that Watson had a "leg up" in the competition. We'll put more weight on what the coaches say for now, but know that the veteran does have an advantage because the team is installing a new offense. No matter who wins the job, the Browns are probably going to be in the market for a new starting quarterback next year.

Cleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston brings a 'different body type' to the wide receiver room, according to head coach Todd Monken. 'We were looking at someone we thought could be a size matchup and especially in the red zone, which we did not have,' Monken said.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, Cleveland Browns DT Michael Hall Jr. (knee) suffered a knee injury during the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 27, but the injury is not believed to be serious.

Cleveland Browns DT Mason Graham said he dealt with a broken rib during the end of the 2025 season.
Link to storyCleveland Browns TE Harold Fannin Jr. (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 20.
Footballguys view: While Fannin missed time late in his 2025 rookie season with a groin injury, he had participated in the team's voluntary minicamp last month, suggesting this absence might be precautionary or unrelated to a long-term issue. Fannin became just the ninth tight end since the merger to log at least 700 receiving yards as a rookie. He was so good that the Browns opted to cut ties with longtime veteran David Njoku at the end of the season. But his role could change with Todd Monken taking over as head coach. We'll follow up as needed.
Cleveland Browns QB Shedeur Sanders has made significant progress with his progressions and operating of the offense this offseason, according to head coach Todd Monken.
Footballguys view: Sanders and Deshaun Watson split first-team reps for most of Wednesday's practice, before Watson took all the reps at the end in a simulated hurry-up drill, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Dillon Gabriel and Taylen Green didn't get much -- if any -- first-team work, but the rotation could change from practice to practice. Monken has talked about naming a starting QB before the start of training camp, though he eased off on prior statements Wednesday, telling reporters, "We'll have it set for [Week 1 at Jacksonville]." We expect Watson to be that starter, but nothing is chiseled in stone.
Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins (ankle, leg) is participating in individual drills during the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 20.
Footballguys view: Judkins dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula against the Bills in Week 16 and missed the final two games of the season. According to multiple reports, Wednesday was a light practice, but Judkins was out there moving around well, and there was no noticeable sign of a brace or other support on the leg. Judkins had 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in 14 games last season. An upgraded offensive line and a new, offensive-minded head coach in Todd Monken could benefit Judkins this season. He's currently being drafted as RB22.
The Cleveland Browns have signed WR Aaron Anderson, DE Markees Watts and LB Reid Carrico to contracts. The Browns have also cut WR Isaiah Wooden, Caden Prieskorn and DT Bernard Gooden, according to the NFL transaction wire on Tuesday, May 19.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Demetric Felton (Browns) has announced his retirement and will join the Cleveland Browns coaching staff in a player development role with Cleveland, Felton announced on Tuesday, May 19.

Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson has reportedly enjoyed his early time with head coach Todd Monken and his coaching staff. 'I'm told he's hit it off with (Monken), who's got an offensive concept, some elements that Watson has run in the past and been his best at,' ESPN national reporter Jeremy Fowler remarked. The team begins organized team activities (OTAs) this week.
Footballguys view: The drumbeat on Watson started in March with browns owner Jimmy Haslam telling a group of local reporters that Watson has a "great chance" and a "fresh start" with the offensive-minded Monken. Haslam said Watson "threw the ball well" during a three-week span late in the 2025 season when he was designated to return to practice from the physically unable to perform list. The 30-year-old, who hasn't played since October of 2024, is expected to compete with Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel to be the Browns' starting quarterback. It also sounds like he's the early favorite to win the job.

Cleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston said he has been working on improving his quickness out of routes this offseason.
Footballguys view: The big-bodied rookie can move around smaller defenders on contested catches. Working on getting in and out of his routes quicker will only make him better. The Browns' passing game is a bit of an unknown right now (is Deshaun Watson good anymore?), but we love Boston in dynasty formats.
Cleveland Browns second-round draft choice S Emmanuel McNeil-Warren signed a four-year contract with the Browns Thursday, May 14. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: McNeil-Warren could have easily been a first-round pick, so he immediately brings value to the field. He's a turnover-creating machine, having nine forced fumbles in college. He uses elite size to stand out as a run-defender, and his length helps him make up ground in coverage.
Cleveland Browns TE Sal Cannella has been waived by the Browns on Monday, May 11.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent CB Michael Coats Jr. (West Virginia) has reportedly signed with the Cleveland Browns, according to a source on Monday, May 11.
Link to storyCleveland Browns QB Taylen Green has been working on his fundamentals as a passer with the team's coaching staff. 'Well, first thing was...footwork,' coach Todd Monken said. 'Cadence -- getting used to our cadence early on, and he was better today, but [Saturday] morning and [Friday], choppy with his cadence. So just getting our guys into a rhythm at the line of scrimmage, I think that was the second thing he needed to work on. He did a nice job today of working through his progressions. I did like that part of it. We're gonna have to be really diligent in trying to tighten down his release.'

Cleveland Browns TE Sal Cannella was released Saturday, May 9.
Link to storyCleveland Browns sixth-round draft choice QB Taylen Green signed a four-year contract with the Browns Friday, May 8. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Green is raw as a pocket quarterback, but his size, athleticism, and arm talent give him a high ceiling even though it is on a very small chance to hit. At least he is in an organization where he could get a chance to play soon if he shows promise, given the team's lack of a long-term answer at quarterback. Green could also move to wide receiver if he busts as a quarterback. He has a similar size/speed profile to Terrelle Pryor, who once upon a time had a 1000 yard season for Cleveland as a wide receiver after coming into the league as a quarterback for the Raiders.
Cleveland Browns second-round draft choice WR Denzel Boston signed a four-year contract with the Browns Friday, May 8. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Boston has the inside track to become the Browns starting "X" receiver early on in his rookie deal. He's a great ball winner on contested catches, but his straight line speed and play strength will be average at best in the NFL and limit his fantasy impact, in addition to the team's issues at quarterback and on offense in general.
Updating previous reporting, Cleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston signed a fully guaranteed four-year deal worth $12.385 million, with a $5.467 million signing bonus.
