Giants | Big Blue may still pursue free-agent QB options Sat Mar 22, 10:13 AM
The New York Giants' signing of QB Jameis Winston earlier this week would not necessarily preclude them from signing another free-agent quarterback, such as QB Russell Wilson (Steelers) or QB Aaron Rodgers (Jets), according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent QB Jameis Winston said he would be interested in signing with the Tennessee Titans this offseason.
Footballguys view: Winston hits the open market with plenty of interest as a backup. The Titans are looking for a starter or at least someone to compete with Will Levis for the starting job. If the Titans select Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders with the no.1 overall pick, then Winston (or Levis) would just be seen as a veteran stopgap until one of those guys would be ready. |

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent QB Jameis Winston said he absolutely has interest in signing with the New York Giants in the offseason.
Footballguys view: When Winston, who was asking questions for FOX during Super Bowl media day on Monday, asked Saquon Barkley which team would sign him in free agency, Barkley threw a jab at the Giants, whose refusal to re-sign him led him to the rival Eagles. "I think New York needs a quarterback right now," Barkley said. The Giants, who don't have a quarterback on the roster, obviously need a new signal caller. And while they'll probably look to take one with the No. 3 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Winston, who threw for 2,121 passing yards with 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in Cleveland, could be a decent bridge. Winston noted: "I'm a free agent; I don't really get no job." Stay tuned. |

Cleveland Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start over QB Jameis Winston in Week 16, head coach Kevin Stefanski announced on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
Footballguys view: Winston is a national treasure for his pregame speeches or any sideline interview, but he's thrown eight interceptions over the past three games. Thompson-Robinson is raw as a passer, but he can move on the run so perhaps there's some sort of spark...but Fantasy GMs are not relying on it. |

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski made a quarterback change during Sunday's loss to the Chiefs, but he's not ready to name a starter for their Week 16 trip to Cincinnati. â€"We're still putting this game to bed . . . anything with Cincinnati, I'll update you guys as we get into the week,†Stefanski said on Monday via 92.3 The Fan.
Footballguys view: Jameis Winston started his seventh straight game and was pulled in favor of Dorian Thompson-Robinson after throwing three interceptions. Thompson-Robinson was 4-of-9 for 18 yards and a pick while closing out the 21-7 loss. As PFT suggested, regardless of whether Winston or Thompson-Robinson gets the nod this week, Stefanski and the Browns have more significant quarterback questions to answer once this season comes to an end. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston will remain as the starter heading into Week 15 against the Kansas City Chiefs despite the team being eliminated from the playoffs, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed Monday, Dec. 9. 'Our focus right now is just trying to find ways to get a win,' Stefanski said.
Footballguys view: Winston helped lead a pair of upset victories over the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers after taking over in Week 8 for Deshaun Watson, who suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon. Winston, however, has thrown the most interceptions (9) in the NFL since, including two in the loss to the Steelers and the Browns (3-10) are 2-4 in his six starts this season. The team's other option, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, started three games as a rookie and entered in Week 7 when Watson was injured but later left with a thumb injury. The only other quarterback on the active roster is Bailey Zappe, whom the Browns signed off the Chiefs' practice squad in late October. From a fantasy perspective, Winston's production matters more than his turnovers. He's had at least 41 attempts in all but one of his starts and made Jerry Jeudy, David Njoku, Elijah Moore, and Cedric Tillman (when healthy and available) viable options. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston completed 34-of-58 passes for 497 yards, four touchdowns and three touchdowns in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos, and he ran three times for 11 yards.
Footballguys view: As NFL.com put it, "Jameis delivers the full Winston experience." Winston has been a volatile passer his entire NFL career, but Monday night's loss reached a new level. The numbers are all you need to see to understand what went down in Denver on Monday night. Winston threw the ball 62 times, setting a career- and franchise-high 497 yards. But two of his three interceptions were returned for touchdowns to seal the 41-32 defeat. Of course, fantasy managers don't care. Winston's 31-point effort makes him QB1 on the week. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston said he would love to re-sign with the Browns in the offseason.
Footballguys view: Reports indicate the Browns are going to keep Deshaun Watson (because they have to), but they are going to find someone to compete against him for the starting job. Winston is a seasoned veteran (and a national treasure for his pregame comments) who is popular with teammates. We'll see if the two sides can come to an agreement in the offseason. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston connected on 18 of his 27 passes for 219 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 1 interception against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, Nov. 21. Winston, who lost a fumble, also ran three times for seven yards and a touchdown.
Footballguys view: Winston was predictably quiet for fantasy in poor conditions against a tough defense. He was still effective enough to stake the Browns to a fourth quarter lead, and then regain it in the last seconds when the Steelers came roaring back. Winston and the Browns passing game have another tough matchup against the Broncos next week. |
Jameis Winston player page
Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston completed 30-of-46 passes for 395 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 11 against the New Orleans Saints, while rushing once for eight yards.
Footballguys view: Winston was behind for most of the game, which suited his loose playing style to a tee. The Saints defense helped with a few coverage breakdowns. Winston isn't a suitable QB1 against the Steelers on Thursday, but we can see that he'll create value in the passing game and in good matchups maybe even be useful in 1QB leagues. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston remains the starter for Week 11 coming out of their bye week, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Footballguys view: Winston became the starter after Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending Achilles injury. Second-year QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been Winston's backup over the last two games. As Profootballtalk.com suggested, with Thompson-Robinson a younger player, the Browns could eventually put him in to see what they have in him at the position. But Stefanski didn't sound as if any change to the second-year QB is imminent. Winston has completed 59.6 percent of his passes this season for 652 yards with five touchdowns and three interceptions. The Browns play the Saints on the road in Week 11, which will feature Winston heading back to the spot where he spent 2020-2023. |

Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters that Winston remains the team's starter after Sunday's loss to the Chargers. "Yes, and again, those are the type of things that we just have to play better as a team," Stefanski said.
Footballguys view: After throwing for 334 yards with three touchdowns and no picks in the Week 8 victory over the Ravens, Jameis Winston's performance took a severe dip in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. Winston finished the game 26-of-46 for 235 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. He was also sacked six times as Cleveland fell to Los Angeles 27-10. With the Browns entering a Week 10 bye, Winston said he and the team have to assess the tape and get back to work. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston completed 26-of-46 passes for 235 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions in Week 9 against the Los Angeles Chargers, while running five times for 27 yards. He fumbled once, but was able to recover his own miscue.
Footballguys view: Winston turned back into a pumpkin as Halloween weekend wound up in Cleveland. He threw his 100th career interception in the end zone and wasn't done yet. At least his aggressive approach created garbage time value for his passcatchers, which is probably the best hope to benefit from his abilities in fantasy leagues in matchups against good teams. We'll see if the Browns consider preparing Dorian Thompson-Robinson to start during the bye. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston will remain the starter going into Week 9, head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday, Oct. 28.
Footballguys view: This news isn't a huge surprise considering Winston threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner, in Sunday's 29-24 victory over the Rams. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Winston's play likely made that answer a formality, but the Browns had promoted Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the No. 2 quarterback spot in Week 7. Watson's play before his injury made it hard for Stefanski to justify sticking with him as the starter. It's an easier case this week, and the Browns hope that's true again after they face the Chargers in Week 9. |
Jameis Winston player page
Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston completed 27-of-41 passes for 334 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens in his first start of the season.
Footballguys view: Winston was able to complete passes at will against a Ravens secondary that was without its top two corners. The Browns pass offense has come to life after Deshaun Watson went down, and now Browns passcatchers look like viable fantasy plays. Winston is also a good play in 2QB/Superflex leagues and matchup QB1 in 1QB leagues. Next week against the Chargers isn't a great matchup, but Winston will be a hot pickup if he wasn't preemptively added nonetheless. |

Cleveland Browns QB Jameis Winston will start in Week 8, head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Footballguys view: We're excited to see Winston out there as the starter. He's a seasoned veteran who can distribute the football all over the field. Teammates love him, and Winston is the type of leader that players respond to. From a fantasy perspective, we're mainly watching to see who Winston prefers throwing to. Right now, expect more work for TE David Njoku. Plus, they will have more downfield targets for WRs Jerry Jeudy and Cedric Tillman. |

New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston will be the starting quarterback in Week 14 if QB Derek Carr (concussion, ribs) is not able to play, according to head coach Dennis Allen.
Footballguys view: Carr could play, but we are not sure yet if he can make it through the league's concussion protocol. With two concussions in a month, it's likely best for Carr to miss some time. In start-2QB/Superflex leagues, go ahead and add Winston as a streaming option. |

New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr (shoulder) is 'questionable at the moment,' according to head coach Dennis Allen. Per Allen, the team intends to see how Carr responds to practice on Friday, Sept. 29, and then make a decision if he or Jameis Winston will start in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Footballguys view: We are very likely to see Winston, but this is a good sign that we'll see Carr return for next week's tilt against the Patriots. Based on how Winston played last week, Carr is much better for the passing game, but the Bucs are a pass funnel offense, so Michael Thomas and Chris Olave should be good plays this week no matter who starts at quarterback. |
