Bills | Two veterans to compete behind Josh Allen Tue May 6, 01:13 AM
Buffalo Bills QBs Mitchell Trubisky and Mike White are likely competing for one roster spot, in the opinion of The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia, who notes that the team is unlikely to utilize more than two spots on the 53-man roster for quarterbacks. Both players are set to become free agents following the 2025 season, so there's no contractual element to the competition.

Buffalo Bills DE Javon Solomon (oblique) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 1 versus the Arizona Cardinals. S Cole Bishop (shoulder), TE Quintin Morris (shoulder), WR Curtis Samuel (toe) and QB Mitchell Trubisky (knee) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.
Footballguys view: Samuel being removed from the injury report puts him in play as a what the heck flex against the Cardinals. It's good news for Josh Allen too, as Samuel is the only potential deep threat among the top four receivers, assuming his turf toe issue doesn't take away a gear. |

Buffalo Bills QB Mitchell Trubisky (knee) is expected to miss multiple weeks, according to sources Monday, Aug. 19.
Footballguys view: Trubisky left Saturday's preseason contest in Pittsburgh due to a knee injury. With Trubisky down, the Bills had to put in Ben DiNucci, who they had just signed five days earlier, to finish the game. For now, DiNucci is the only healthy quarterback behind Josh Allen. Expect that to change, with the team likely to shore up its depth with Trubisky sidelined. |

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mason Rudolph will start over QB Mitchell Trubisky in Week 16, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.
Footballguys view: Nobody should be surprised by this development. Trubisky is not a great starting option, and perhaps Rudolph will give the offense more spark. Now, it could be more "sparklers" and less "fireworks" with Rudolph out there but we're almost positive it will be better (even if just a little bit) over Trubisky. |

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky completed 16-for-23 passing for 169 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions Saturday, Dec. 16, at the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15. Trubisky rushed twice for one yard and scored on the ground. He was sacked three times and was benched late in the fourth quarter after throwing his second pick.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky completed 22 of his 35 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the New England Patriots on Thursday, Dec. 7. Trubisky also ran eight times for a team-high 30 yards and a touchdown.
Footballguys view: Trubisky was okay for fantasy, but a nightmare for Steelers fans. He was ineffective and never really threatened a Patriots defense that dared the Steelers to beat them with the pass. The Steelers season could nosedive quickly with the Colts up next. |

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension Thursday, May 18. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
Footballguys view: The Steelers are keeping things as they were in 2022 with QB Kenny Pickett as their starter and Trubisky as their primary backup. They'll keep that in place, and now it's up to Pickett to continue to grow and develop as a pro passer. Trubisky won't see the field unless Pickett struggles mightily or gets banged up. |
Mitchell Trubisky player page
Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky went 17-for-22 for 179 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Carolina Panthers in Week 15. He also rushed for nine yards and one touchdown on six carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Trubisky didn't force the Steelers to yank on the short leash he reportedly had going into the game. The Steelers are still mathematically alive for a playoff berth and for avoiding Mike Tomlin's first losing season. Trubisky won't replace Kenny Pickett if Pickett is out of concusison protocol, but this performance could encourage the team to be conservative about the rookie's return against the Raiders next week. |

Although Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky has been named the starter for Week 15's game versus the Carolina Panthers, multiple sources said that he will be on a short leash if the club gets off to a slow start offensively. QB Mason Rudolph, who will back up Trubisky, took increased reps throughout the week in practice.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky is expected to start in Week 15 with QB Kenny Pickett (concussion) unlikely to play, per sources on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Footballguys view: Trubisky will start, and Pickett will get more rest. This is Pickett's second concussion this year, and his long-term health is much more important than a late-season, out-of-conference game. Trubisky was splitting reps with Mason Rudolph in practice this week, but it sounds like the Steelers are going to lean on the more experienced quarterback. |

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky went 9-for-12 for 144 yards and one touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 6.
Footballguys view: Trubisky was clutch on multiple third and long plays to clinch the game. He also got Chase Claypool going for the first time this year. Kenny Pickett's concussion could keep him out next week against the Dolphins, and the Steelers will have a lot more confidence in Trubisky than they did this morning if Pickett can't play. |

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett came on in relief of Mitchell Trubisky after the latter was benched at the start of the second half in Week 4 against the New York Jets.
