Texans | Houston adding Tyrod Taylor    Tue Mar 16, 05:07 PM

Los Angeles Chargers impending free-agent QB Tyrod Taylor plans to sign a one-year contract with the Houston Texans worth as much as $12.5 million, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Taylor is a seasoned veteran who can be a backup or a starter. Deshaun Watson is still the starter in Houston, but if he's traded the team could move to Taylor in a pinch.

Dolphins | Miami may look at several potential backup QBs    Sun Mar 7, 04:04 PM

Indianapolis Colts impending free-agent QB Jacoby Brissett, Los Angeles Chargers impending free-agent QB Tyrod Taylor and free-agent QB Robert Griffin III (Ravens) could be possible backup quarterback options for the Miami Dolphins this offseason, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Cameron Wolfe.

Footballguys view: If the Dolphins keep Tua Tagovailoa as their starter (there is chatter they could move him to the Texans in part of a deal for Deshaun Watson), then they'll need a veteran backup. Any of these quarterbacks fit the bill, but perhaps Taylor would be the best suited to help guide a young passer like Tagovailoa. Stay tuned.

Chargers | Tyrod Taylor declines grievance    Wed Dec 2, 09:07 AM

Los Angeles Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor declined to file a grievance against the team and its doctor for administering a pain-killing shot in mid-September that led to a puncture in his lung.

Footballguys view: That shot was incredibly costly for Taylor as he lost his starting job -- perhaps his last chance as a starter -- and had to miss multiple games. While Taylor is not proceeding with any grievances, the NFL Players Association is still reviewing the matter.

DE Joey Bosa (concussion), OT Bryan Bulaga (back), OG Dan Feeney (knee) and CB Casey Hayward (ankle) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

S Nasir Adderley (thumb), OT Bryan Bulaga (back), RB Justin Jackson (knee), OT Storm Norton (knee), QB Tyrod Taylor (ribs) and QB Justin Herbert (shoulder) practiced in full Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: Bosa being out is a blow to the Chargers defense and will help Derek Carr have more time to throw downfield. Pope being out gives new life to Joshua Kelley and ups Justin Jackson's ceiling.

Los Angeles Chargers OG Trai Turner (groin) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 7 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. OT Sam Tevi (thumb, ankle) was downgraded to a limited practice Friday but removed from the injury report. WR Keenan Allen (back) and DT Linval Joseph (elbow) practiced in full Friday and also no longer appear on the injury report.

Footballguys view: Bulaga's return would help the pass protection, but Justin Herbert has still thrived with the right side of his line out in recent weeks. Turner is a great run blocker, but the Chargers run game should still look good vs. Jacksonville.

S Nasir Adderley (shoulder), OL Dan Feeney (elbow), S Rayshawn Jenkins (groin), LS Cole Mazza (ankle), LB Kenneth Murray (ankle), OT Storm Norton (knee) and DT Jerry Tillery (ankle) practiced in full.

Footballguys view: If Bulaga and Turner can't go Monday night, don't expect much from the Chargers running game against the Saints. Williams getting in a limited practice gives him a chance to play, but he's tough to trust in fantasy leagues unless he gets a full practice in tomorrow.

Chargers | Justin Herbert to keep starting job    Thu Oct 8, 03:35 PM

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert will remain the starting quarterback moving forward regardless of when Tyrod Taylor (chest, ribs) returns, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.

Chargers | Tyrod Taylor ruled out    Fri Oct 2, 07:42 PM

Los Angeles Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor (chest, ribs) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 2, and has been ruled out for Week 4.

Footballguys view: Justin Herbert has played well enough to remain the starter by the estimation of many, but he has committed turnovers and Anthony Lynn loves the idea of limiting turnovers, which is Taylor's forte. We can't be sure when Taylor will return, but as of now there's some chance he'll be the starter again.

DE Joey Bosa (triceps) and RB Justin Jackson (quad) also practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Los Angeles Chargers LB Asmar Bilal (calf), DT Justin Jones (shoulder) and QB Tyrod Taylor (ribs, chest) did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 3 against the Carolina Panthers. RB Justin Jackson (quad) and LB Nick Vigil (groin) did not practice all week and are listed as doubtful. DE Melvin Ingram (knee) and did not practice Friday, Sept. 25, and is also listed as doubtful. OG Trai Turner (groin) also did not practice Friday but is listed as questionable. S Rayshawn Jenkins (groin) was limited in practice all week and is also listed as questionable. OT Bryan Bulaga (knee) was upgraded to a full practice Friday and is listed as questionable as well. DE Joey Bosa (triceps), TE Hunter Henry (ankle) and DB Desmond King (back) practiced in full on Friday and have been removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: Ingram is a standout and his absence will help Teddy Bridgewater although Uchenna Nwosu is an up and comer and could show the Chargers that there is a less of a dropoff than they think as Ingram enters free agency next year. Jones has also had a good start to the season and his loss will hurt the defensive line. Vigil being out will get Kyzir White on the field a lot for the second straight week.

Chargers | Tyrod Taylor update    Wed Sep 23, 12:04 PM

Updating previous reports, Los Angeles Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor (lung) suffered a punctured lung while receiving a pain-killing injection Sunday, Sept. 20.

Footballguys view: This is a big injury that will keep Taylor out some time. That means 2020 first-round pick Justin Herbert is in line to start again in Week 3. This injury could cause Taylor to miss more time than just a week, so Herbert could be the starter in the near future.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor (chest) missed the team's Week 2 game versus the Kansas City Chiefs after experiencing complications from a pregame injection that was administered to address a rib injury, according to multiple sources.

Footballguys view: Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn has previously stated that Taylor is the starter if he's 100 percent healthy. After the debut of 2020 first-round pick Justin Herbert, there's really no reason for the Chargers to go back to Taylor. His status for Week 3 is unknown.

DE Joey Bosa (triceps), CB Casey Hayward (knee), OG Trai Turner (knee), WR Mike Williams (shoulder) and QB Tyrod Taylor (ribs) also practiced in full Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

WR Mike Williams (shoulder) and OT Bryan Bulaga (hamstring) remained limited in practice Friday and are also listed as questionable. TE Virgil Green (quad) practiced in full Friday and is listed as questionable as well. QB Tyrod Taylor (calf) practiced in full again Friday and was removed from the injury report.

Footballguys view: Pouncey is a key member of a sometimes questionable offensive line. The Raiders defense may face a less than 100% Turner and Bulaga, so it could be rough day for the running game. Williams is best left on the bench and feel good if he goes off despite coming into the season with an injured shoulder.

Chargers | Tyrod Taylor will be Week 1 starter    Wed Sep 2, 12:46 PM

Footballguys view: No surprise here. Justin Herbert was the team's first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft and he's the franchise quarterback of the future. He's not ready yet and the Chargers can win a lot of games with Taylor. He's got some fantasy value as well because of his rushing ability and the skill players around him in the passing game.
