Eagles | Eagles eyeing Jake Locker?    Fri Feb 6, 08:47 PM

Tennessee Titans impending free-agent QB Jake Locker could draw interest from the Philadelphia Eagles, according to an NFL agent.

Footballguys view: Locker would make sense for the Chip Kelly offense. He's athletic enough to be a threat to run everytime he touches the ball. That is the key to running the inside/outside zone-read offense. Locker also has a strong arm, but his accuracy problems could be helped by the wide-open nature of this system. Often, QBs in this system are throwing to predetermined spots so decisions and throws are easier. The biggest problem with Locker? Staying healthy. In four seasons, he's never played more than 11 games in one year.

Titans | Jake Locker to have surgery    Mon Dec 15, 04:35 PM

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (shoulder) will undergo shoulder surgery Tuesday, Dec. 16, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Locker was placed on Reserve/Injured Monday, Dec. 15.

Footballguys view: Even Sam Bradford thinks that Locker is banged up too much. Locker's time as the franchise quarterback in Tennessee is likely over. He's athletic and has flashed a *little* bit at times, but he's hurt way too much. Locker is a free agent in 2015, and he'll have to latch on (likely somewhere else) as a backup quarterback.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (arm) left the Week 15 game against the New York Jets due to an apparent left arm injury. His return is considered questionable.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) was limited for the second day in practice Thursday, Oct. 23.

Titans | Zach Mettenberger named starter    Thu Oct 23, 02:43 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger has been named the starting quarterback for Week 8, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. QB Jake Locker will serve as the backup quarterback.

Footballguys view: We're a little excited to see what Mettenberger can do. The strong-armed quarterback has some wrinkles to his delivery but could become a solid starter down the road. Certainly they might as well see what he can do. You should keep him away from your lineup at all costs though as we think the Wooderson-from-Dazed-and-Confused lookalike will be a low-point earner this week.

Titans | Jake Locker to start when healthy    Thu Oct 23, 01:23 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) will return to the starting quarterback job when he is healthy, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. The team has decided to start QB Zach Mettenberger in Week 8 against the Houston Texans with Locker still recovering from his injury.

Footballguys view: The Wooderson from Dazed and Confused lookalike will get the start but keep Mettenberger away from your lineup.

Titans | Jake Locker done in Nashville?    Wed Oct 22, 10:51 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is in the final year of his contract after the team declined to pick up a fifth-year option. He is reportedly making progress with his thumb injury, but the team plans to start rookie QB Zach Mettenberger in Week 8 against the Houston Texans.

Footballguys view: It was a make-or-break year for Locker in 2014, and he broke....again. Tennessee should be looking at drafting (another) franchise quarterback in the first round.

Titans | Jake Locker limited Wednesday    Wed Oct 22, 04:21 PM

Titans | Zach Mettenberger an option at QB?    Tue Oct 21, 12:27 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) will start at quarterback when he's healthy, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. QB Charlie Whitehurst has filled in for Locker twice this year, but buzz continues to mount for QB Zach Mettenberger, the team's sixth-round draft pick this year. "We're trying to get him better as we go, knowing with the way it's gone for us at quarterback this year that's something that could happen at any time," Whisenhunt said. Whisenhunt doesn't sound concerned about playing Mettenberger too soon, either.

Footballguys view: The rookie has a rocket for a right arm...but he throws with little control. He also struggles when under duress--even a little bit of pressure will throw his game off. He's a big pocket passer but lacks the athleticism to keep plays alive with his feet.

Titans | Jake Locker to throw Tuesday    Mon Oct 20, 04:44 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is scheduled to throw Tuesday, Oct. 21, and the team will see how he responds Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Footballguys view: Locker is coming back soon enough. The Charlie Whitehurst era is going to end soon....and that's a good thing for skill position players.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (hand) is expected to be back in Week 8. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Sunday, Oct. 19, that Locker's hand was still sore this week. QB Charlie Whitehurst started in his absence in Week 7 against the Washington Redskins.

Footballguys view: Locker will face the Texans. He hasn't shown enough this year to merit a pre-emptive pickup, but it could help Justin Hunter.

The Tennessee Titans have declared LB Akeem Ayers, CB Coty Sensabaugh, QB Jake Locker, DL Ropati Pitoitua, RB Shonn Greene, TE Taylor Thompson, OT Will Svitek inactive for Week 7.

Titans | Jake Locker questionable    Fri Oct 17, 04:07 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) was limited in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as questionable for Week 7 against the Washington Redskins. Locker did very little during individual drills Friday, with QB Charlie Whitehurst taking the bulk of the repetitions. Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is still having problems with his bruised thumb and will need to make progress during the week if he wants a chance to play in Week 7, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Footballguys view: Charlie Whitehurst hasn't been a TOTAL trainwreck at quarterback for the Titans. If Locker can't get better, we'll see Whitehurst under center in Week 7 as Tennessee takes on Washington.

Titans | Jake Locker not expected to play    Fri Oct 10, 02:29 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is not expected to play in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and he's officially listed as questionable on the injury report. He made some soft tosses Friday, but was listed as a non-participant in practice. QB Charlie Whitehurst is expected to make his second start of the year.

Footballguys view: Whitehurst is actually worth a start in two QB leagues if you are thin at the position. The Jaguars have been a sieve of a defense and Whitehurst was riffing well with his receivers against the Browns last week.

Titans | Jake Locker trying to hold ball    Thu Oct 9, 03:00 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) is working through issues holding the ball because of his bruised thumb, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Footballguys view: We still see Whitehurst as the quarterback this weekend and since he didn't practice today, Locker is unlikely to play. Whitehurst is a low-end QB2 so unless you have injury, matchup or bye week issues we'd avoid him.

Titans | Jake Locker misses practice    Thu Oct 9, 02:46 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.

Footballguys view: This is a great matchup, so if Charlie Whitehurst gets tapped and you are in a bind he has some upside. Normally we see him as no more than a deep QB2, so unless you are in that bind we just spoke of, he's not a good start. Just a desperate start.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (thumb) has a bruised thumb with a lot of swelling, but he does not appear to have any structural damage, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Titans | Jake Locker to have MRI Monday    Sun Oct 5, 07:46 PM

He said Sunday, Oct. 5, that his thumb is sore and he will know more after his MRI Monday, Oct. 6. X-rays after the game looked clean.

Footballguys view: Locker will be tough to trust despite a great matchup against Jacksonville next week. Whoever starts at QB for the Titans will be worth a look for streamers either way. Locker was playing well when he went down this week.

Titans | Jake Locker takes blow to head    Sun Oct 5, 01:49 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (head) took a hard shot to his head on a touchdown run Sunday, Oct. 5, and is going through concussions tests.

Titans | Jake Locker will start Sunday    Fri Oct 3, 03:28 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) suffered no setbacks during practice this week and will start against the Cleveland Browns in Week 5. 'He's has a good week of practice,' head coach Ken Whisenhunt said of Locker. 'The first day working back into it with the hand, we weren't sure how it was going to be, but he's progressed as the week has gone along.'

Footballguys view: The Charlie Whitehurst era is over ...thankfully (for now). Locker has had trouble staying healthy over his young pro career. We'll see if he can start playing better going forward now that he's back.

Titans | Jake Locker a full go    Thu Oct 2, 06:47 PM

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) practiced in full Thursday, Oct. 2, for the second straight day.

Footballguys view: The team will look better with Locker instead of Charlie Whitehurt...but not that much better. We like Delanie Walker as a TE1 and Bishop Sankey as a RB3/flex....and that's about it from Tennessee.

Titans | Jake Locker back on the field    Thu Oct 2, 02:31 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) is participating in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.

Footballguys view: Is this the end of the Age of Whitehurst? We'll have to see if Locker makes it back, but it looks likely and Whitehurst didn't play well enough to unseat him. If Locker returns, we still wouldn't start him outside of 2QB start leagues. If Whitehurst starts, avoid him at all costs.

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) practiced in full Wednesday, Oct. 1, and is expected to start in Week 5 against the Cleveland Browns. Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) is expected to return to practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.

Titans | Jake Locker out    Sun Sep 28, 10:18 AM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) will not start Sunday, Sept. 28. QB Charlie Whitehurst will start in his place.

Footballguys view: Zach Mettenberger's time is coming soon if Locker can't healthy and pick up his game. None of the Titans are good plays while Whitehurst is in, but Mettenberger's vertical passing proclivities could revive Justin Hunter in time.

Titans | Jake Locker questionable    Fri Sep 26, 01:14 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) is listed as questionable for the team's Week 4 game.

Footballguys view: Longtime beat writer Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennessean has him close to doubtful/out. Look for a Charlie Whitehurst start this weekend, which keeps the entire Titans offense as questionable for your fantasy football lineup.

Titans | Jake Locker sits out    Thu Sep 25, 03:06 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) did not participate in practice Thursday, Sept. 25.

Footballguys view: It's looking a lot like Charlie Whitehurst time and that spells doom for what little value the offense has for Fantasy GMs. Justin Hunter will probably see his value drop below the current WR4 he has and Kendall Wright will be a WR5 rather than his normal WR4. Locker isn't great but Whitehurst could make Titans fans long for the days of Rusty Smith.

Titans | Jake Locker sits out    Wed Sep 24, 05:30 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist), who suffered a strained right wrist in Week 3, did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 24. His right hand looked swollen, and he barely moved it after speaking with reporters following practice. An MRI exam earlier this week showed no structural damage. 'I'm getting better each day,' Locker said. 'It was something I felt a little bit during the game, and then when the adrenaline stopped, it started hurting a little more. I'm just working as hard as I can to get back as soon as possible.'

Footballguys view: Just when you thought there were some Titans you could start in your fantasy leagues. If Locker can't play in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts, QB Charlie Whitehurst would start. If Whitehurst plays, we're not confident about any pass-catchers from this offense.

Titans | Jake Locker has wrist strain    Tue Sep 23, 06:50 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) has a wrist strain, according to an MRI. The quarterback's status for Week 4 is still uncertain.

Footballguys view: Locker has been struggling, and there's a chance the Titans could make a change at quarterback. They could turn to Charlie Whitehurst or rookie Zach Mettenberger if Locker struggles or is too banged up to play.

Titans | Jake Locker could barely grip ball    Mon Sep 22, 04:50 PM

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker (wrist) could barely grip the football at the end of the game Sunday, Sept. 21, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Locker underwent an MRI Monday morning.

Footballguys view: Locker and the passing game struggled in Week 3. Fantasy owners need to see if Locker can practice later in the week. If he can't play, the Titans could turn things over to veteran Charlie Whitehurst. They also have Zach Mettenberger on the roster, and the strong-armed rookie might get a shot if Locker is banged up or keeps struggling.

Titans | Jake Locker remains starter    Sun Sep 21, 06:19 PM

Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker remains the starting quarterback, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt said Sunday, Sept. 21, that he never considered benching Locker despite a lopsided loss in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. He said Locker is his quarterback, and the coach will be patient with him.

Footballguys view: That Whisenhunt is having to answer these questions is in and of itself a sign that Locker's status is getting shakier. The Titans only have journeyman Charlie Whitehurst or rookie Zach Mettenberger to turn to, so Locker is protected a bit by the poor shape of his position on the Titans depth chart.
