Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (fibula) practiced in full on Friday, Nov. 28.
Footballguys view: After a mid-week scare, Jones logged a full practice on Friday. He's lost some of the mobility he showed early in the season, and he looked a bit ginger in clips from Thursday's session. His white-hot passing efficiency has cooled off as well. In a tough matchup against the Texans, Jones profiles as a shaky low-end QB1 this week.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (fibula) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Footballguys view: Jones was banged up against the Chiefs last week. This week, the Colts are playing a terrific Texans defense. Jones is a QB2 for most Fantasy GMs as he should struggle under duress early and often on Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones went 19-for-31 for 181 yards and two touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. He also rushed for 16 yards on three carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Jones started this game playing very well, but was impotent and generated almost no offense in the second half. He didn't make any huge mistakes, but did throw a ball late in the fourth quarter that could have been picked and cost his team that game. The Colts offense has a tough matchup against the Texans next week. Jones is probably best left on your bench, and he might not be a good start again until Week 16 against San Francisco.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones went 19-for-26 with 255 passing yards in Week 10's overtime victory against the Atlanta Falcons, with one touchdown and one interception. He also had seven rushing attempts for 53 yards.
Footballguys view: Jones was under a lot of pressure from the Falcons, getting sacked seven times and fumbling three times, but only one was lost. Jones also threw a bad interception to Jessie Bates, but otherwise was effective as a passer. He leaned on Tyler Warren in the second half and Jonathan Taylor carried the offense through overtime to help Jones after a rough first half. Jones was also productive as a scrambler to keep him in the low QB1 fantasy scoring range with Taylor scoring three of the team's four touchdowns. Jones shrugged off a bad Week 9 at Pittsburgh for the most part and remains a strong fantasy QB1 going into his bye.

The Indianapolis Colts are expected to offer a long-term contract extension to QB Daniel Jones during the upcoming offseason, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones went 31-for-50 for 342 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9. He also rushed for four yards and one touchdown on three carries but lost two fumbles as well.
Footballguys view: Jones rushing score came on the opening drive of the game, but the rest of the day was typified by turnovers against an opportunistic Steelers defense. While his fantasy showing was still good because of garbage time stats, but you wonder if his confidence was shaken by the five giveaways. He'll face another opportunistic defense when Atlanta comes to Indianapolis next week.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones (head) did not need to be placed in the concussion protocol after the Week 8 game, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Stephen Holder notes, Jones was a bit off on some of his first-half throws in Sunday's win over the Titans and seemed to be holding the ball too long at times. That contributed to more pass rush pressure than usual for the Colts. But even when he wasn't at his best, Jones still managed to make wise decisions and remain efficient. He completed 21-of-29 attempts for 272 yards and three TDs, avoiding a turnover for the sixth time in eight games this season. The Colts get a favorable passing matchup against the Steelers this week.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 21-of-29 passes for 272 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans, and he ran once for three yards before departing midway through the fourth quarter with a lopsided score on the board in favor of his team. QB Riley Leonard mopped up.
Footballguys view: Jones was casual in his domination of the Titans woeful defense on his way to a typical (for 2025) strong QB1 fantasy week. There was talk of a long term contract with the Colts coming after this season, and Jones continues to show why. He'll face a beleaguered Steelers defense next week.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 22-of-30 for 212 yards with two touchdowns against one interception, and added 20 yards on five carries and a touchdown in a 31-27 win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 6.
Footballguys view: The Cardinals had one of the better scoring defenses in the league going into Week 6, but the Colts still scored 31 and Jones was steady even after throwing a bad interception when he didn't see linebacker Mack Wilson on one of his few poor decisions in this game. He's a strong QB1 heading into a matchup with a Chargers defense that has given up 27 points in each of the last two games.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 20-of-29 passes for 212 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, while running once for two yards.
Footballguys view: Jones didn't post a huge fantasy game, but rest assured, he is a fantasy QB1 going forward. The Colts running backs scored four times on the ground, so the offensive output is there for Jones to be an everyweek fantasy starting quarterback. The Colts have one of the best offenses in the league and Jones is a big reason why heading into a matchup with Arizona.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones went 18-for-25 for 228 yards and one touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 3. He also rushed for 27 yards on four carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Jones didn't have a big fantasy game because Jonathan Taylor got all three rushing scores and the Colts never really sweated in this blowout. They almost certainly won't blow out the Rams next week, so keep Jones in QB1 consideration as this week was a tolerable floor game that still didn't kill your lineup.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones topped 300 yards passing for the first time since 2023, completing 23 of his 34 passes for 316 yards and a touchdown in a 29-28 win over the Denver Broncos in Week 2. He also ran for a touchdown.
Footballguys view: Jones' skeptics were eager to see how he might handle the test presented by the Broncos' defense after he carved up Miami's unit in Week 1, and he thrived for a second straight week. Jones operated the Colts' attack comfortably, while avoiding major mistakes. As NFL.com suggested, we're starting to see why Shane Steichen chose Jones as his starter during the preseason. Steichen kept the pressure off Jones with a balanced approach, which leaned on Jonathan Taylor and his ever-present big-play threat. If Indianapolis can maintain this level of balance throughout the season, Jones could prove to be consistently effective.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones completed 22-of-29 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 1 against the Miami Dolphins, while adding seven runs for 26 yards and a pair of scores.
Footballguys view: Jones was the biggest surprise of Week 1, but we may look back and say this was more about Dolphins defensive ineptitude than a Jones renaissance. While he should be added on the waiver wire, Jones should not be in lineups because of the Broncos matchup next week. If he looks good against Broncos, then it is time to make a major adjustment to expectations.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones was named the starting quarterback by head coach Shane Steichen Tuesday, Aug. 19.
Footballguys view: Jones emerges from a preseason competition with Richardson to take command of the Colts' offense with less than three weeks left until the season opener against the Dolphins. Jones and Richardson had previously split reps with the Colts' first-team offense in practice and two preseason games; Jones will now proceed forward in practice with the Colts' starters. Steichen has said since the spring that a major determining factor in the Colts' quarterback competition is consistency. Richardson has been anything but that in his previous two seasons. We'll see if Jones can get enough done to hold the job.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson and QB Daniel Jones have been competing for the starting quarterback job during training camp, and head coach Shane Steichen said hopes to make a decision shortly.
Footballguys view: Jones started Saturday's preseason game vs. the Packers, playing 15 snaps over two drives and completing 7-of-11 passes for 101 yards. Richardson followed, playing 24 snaps and going 6-of-11 for 73 yards, with a 38-yard strike wiped out by a penalty. Steichen emphasized that evaluations go beyond the stats to include huddle communication, checks, and operational consistency as key factors in the Colts' decision-making process. We still expect Richardson to get the nod, but we'll be watching for the final call and will pass it along when the announcement is made.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson will be the starting quarterback for the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 7, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Steichen said QB Daniel Jones will start the second preseason game.
Footballguys view: The Colts listed Richardson or Jones as their No. 1 quarterback on the depth chart released this week, and the plan for the next two weeks suggests things will stay that way through the second preseason game. It remains to be seen if that will be enough time for Steichen to make up his mind about the Week 1 game against the Dolphins, but the play of both quarterbacks will be closely watched until then. We believe the Colts want Richardson to win. But the fact they haven't made a decision suggests he truly has to earn the top spot.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson and QB Daniel Jones have been competing for the starting quarterback job during training camp, and the team has listed Richardson or Jones as their No. 1 quarterback on their first unofficial depth chart.
Footballguys view: The Colts list a starter at every position except quarterback. While he hasn't announced the starter for this week's preseason opener, HC Shane Steichen plans to give both quarterbacks plenty of work in the first two exhibition games before making a decision. Richardson has fallen short of expectations since the Colts took him No. 4 overall in the 2023 NFL draft, and the Colts signed Jones to a one-year contract to compete for the job. Still, it's fair to believe Richardson will be given every opportunity to emerge as their franchise QB if the competition is close.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones is expected to see a 'good amount' of playing time in the preseason game Thursday, Aug. 7 against the Baltimore Ravens, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Between Jones and Anthony Richardson, it's uncertain who will start Thursday, but the plan is to have whomever starts Thursday, go in the opposite order in the second preseason game.
Footballguys view: Shane Steichen hasn't discussed the situation with Anthony Richardson and Jones yet, so he's holding off on announcing what the rotation will be. Meanwhile, Jones received the first-team reps during the first half of Saturday's practice, as he and Richardson switched from first to second-team in the back half. Jones had his most productive day of camp, distributing the ball accurately all over the field, going 20-of-25 passing (80.0%), with a red zone touchdown. Still, the competition is far from over. We'll continue to follow up as needed.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones and QB Anthony Richardson have both had positive and negative plays during the first few training camp practices, and there is no clear frontrunner for the starting quarterback job, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Stephen Holder.
Footballguys view: Holder thinks that Richardson will start Week 1 unless Jones clearly pulls ahead, with Jones waiting in the wings if Richardson gets hurt or underperforms. He also points out that Richardson has been improving his short and intermediate accuracy, so maybe there is hope that Richardson can seize this job.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones and QB Anthony Richardson both worked with the first-team offense during drills Wednesday, July 23.
Footballguys view: Jones has been the healthier quarterback this offseason, so perhaps he's got a slight edge. However, Richardson was supposed to be the team's franchise quarterback but injuries have de-railed his career so far. We'll see these two continue to battle in the rest of camp and a game or two in the preseason for the starting job.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones has built a significant lead over QB Anthony Richardson for the starting quarterback job, according to The Athletic's James Boyd.
Footballguys view: Considering Richardson has been missing time with a shoulder injury, this shouldn't come as a huge shock. Jones has his flaws, but he's at least proven capable of keeping a team afloat and providing his pass catchers with enough volume to be relevant in fantasy. Richardson has not. While Richardson would be the more exciting quarterback, Jones might be the one we want to see if we're investing in Jonathan Taylor, Michael Pittman, Josh Downs, and Tyler Warren.

Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones has performed well during the mandatory minicamp this week and has picked up the offense very well, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Footballguys view: Don't scoff at the possibility of Jones having fantasy value this year. He was QB10 a few years back with the Giants on the strength of his running ability, and he'll have a lot better receivers than he had back then. Jones might have also benefitted from a few months to learn from QB guru Kevin O'Connell when he was with the Vikings.
Daniel Jones player page
Indianapolis Colts QB Daniel Jones has an 'ideal opportunity' to show the team he can be the starting quarterback during this week's mandatory minicamp, in the opinion of ESPN's Stephen Holder, who notes it 'offers a chance to build some continuity with his receivers and offensive linemen in full-squad workouts.' Jones is set to compete with QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder), who will miss the entire camp due to a shoulder injury, for the starting job, but Jones should be in line to get most, if not all, of the first-team reps here.
Footballguys view: The Colts wanted a quarterback competition this offseason, but Richardson's aggravated shoulder injury likely ended hopes of that at minicamp. That injury has already given Jones an edge in the QB battle. This week offers a chance to build some continuity with his receivers and offensive linemen in full-squad workouts, as Jones won't be sharing first-team snaps as planned.
Daniel Jones player page
Indianapolis Colts QBs Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones are engaging in an 'open competition' where both players will split reps during organized team activities, according to head coach Shane Steichen.'We're breaking down the reps. They are both getting one reps. They're both getting two reps. I think through OTAs, we've got nine good practices. They'll both get about 170 reps a piece with those guys, with the ones and twos, and we'll flip-flop them. You guys were out there today. You saw how it worked, and that's how it's going to go. ... We have like first- (and) second-down day, then we have a third-down day. So we don't want one guy getting all the third-down reps with the ones. So, we're going to flip it that way, and then we go to a red zone day. It's the same reason,' Steichen said.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. The Colts have been saying for some time that both quarterbacks are going to have a chance at the starting job. Richardson is their former first-round pick, and he still has incredible upside because of his physical tools. Jones, a former first-round pick of the Giants, has athleticism too and more starting experience. We'll see this battle shake out in training camp.

Atlanta Falcons QB Kirk Cousins and Minnesota Vikings QB Daniel Jones could be options for the Cleveland Browns this offseason if they look to add a veteran quarterback, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Footballguys view: The Browns wanted to add a quarterback to compete with Deshaun Watson for the starting job in 2025. But after Waston re-tore his Achilles and underwent a second surgery, the Browns need a starter. Cousins and Jones are just two of the players likely to be available. Cousins remains under contract with the Falcons, but most observers expect them to move on from the veteran this offseason.

Free-agent QB Daniel Jones (Giants) has eliminated the Las Vegas Raiders from his consideration, per sources on Monday, Nov. 25.
Footballguys view: The Giants released Jones last week, and he cleared waivers on Monday, officially becoming a free agent. NFL insider Ian Rapoport named the Vikings a "team to watch" to add him to their roster. Rapoport named the Vikings, Raiders, 49ers, and Ravens as possible teams to watch out for, although this report by Schultz cuts that list down. In addition, Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell downplayed his team's interest. Nonetheless, based on Rapoport's outlook, Jones will want to sign with a contender sooner rather than later.
