Dolphins | Friday injury report for Week 1 Fri Sep 11, 05:28 PM
Miami Dolphins OT Jason Fox (concussion) was limited during practice Friday, Sept. 11, and is listed as doubtful for Week 1 against the Washington Redskins. RB LaMichael James (shoulder), OT Branden Albert (knee) and CB Jamar Taylor (thigh) fully participated in practice and are listed as probable.
Footballguys view: Albert being probable is music to the Dolphins' offense ears. He's the keystone of the offensive line, and if they are clicking, then it's going to be a good year for Ryan Tannehill, Lamar Miller, and the cavalcade of talented passcatchers in Miami. |

Miami Dolphins OT Jason Fox (concussion), RB LaMichael James (shoulder) and CB Jamar Taylor (thigh) were limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 10. OT Branden Albert (knee) practiced in full.
Footballguys view: They need Branden Albert more than anyone, and he will anchor a line that needs to give Ryan Tannehill time to throw. |

Dolphins | LaMichael James remains confident Mon Aug 31, 11:25 PM

Dolphins | Damien Williams aligned at No. 2 Wed Aug 12, 10:24 AM
Miami Dolphins RB Damien Williams is listed as the second-string running back on the team's first depth chart. RB LaMichael James is third, and RB Jay Ajayi is fourth on the chart.
Footballguys view: Ajayi is not doing a good job with his opportunity. The rookie from Boise State is a good all-purpose back, but he's a long way from contributing for this team. We'll see if he can start making a better impression during the preseason. Ajayi is no lock to make this roster. |

Dolphins | LaMichael James plays well Fri Aug 7, 11:36 PM
Miami Dolphins RB LaMichael James ran for a team-high 41 yards on nine carries in a scrimmage Friday, Aug. 7, and he added a 30-yard kickoff return.
Footballguys view: James is fighting for as roster spot as well as carries. With the arrival of Jay Ajayi and Lamar Miller's efforts to prove he deserves a new contract, James might be relegated to kickoff return status. At least until next year if Miller leaves. As for this year, he has very little fantasy value save as a handcuff and should be selected late in drafts, if at all. |

Dolphins | LaMichael James ahead in battle Tue Jun 2, 01:36 AM
Miami Dolphins RB LaMichael James is ahead of RB Mike Gillislee for the No. 4 running back job to start organized team activities (OTAs).
Footballguys view: James is much more explosive than Gillislee. The RB4 with the Dolphins isn't going to get much work, so fantasy owners should not be locked into this battle. |

Dolphins | Mike Gillislee down on depth chart Tue Jun 2, 01:34 AM
Miami Dolphins RB Mike Gillislee is behind RB LaMichael James for the No. 4 running back job to start organized team activities (OTAs).
Footballguys view: Gillislee hasn't done much as a pro. Coming out of Florida he was compared to a poor-man's version of Knowshon Moreno. It sounds like he's not even going to reach that potential. |

Free-agent RB LaMichael James re-signed with the Miami Dolphins on a one-year deal Friday, March 20. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dolphins | Lamar Miller questionable Fri Nov 21, 05:52 PM
Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller (shoulder, knee) was limited in practice Friday, Nov. 21, and is listed as questionable for Week 12 against the Denver Broncos. Miller has been nursing a sore shoulder for the last three weeks, but he also recently suffered a knee injury in practice. RBs Damien Williams and Daniel Thomas will likely share the workload if Miller sits out. RB LaMichael James could also be activated for the first time this year.
Footballguys view: Miller is facing a tough run defense and his team could fall behind and abandon the run on Sunday against Denver. He's a weak RB2 play, and there's a small chance he could be inactive. |

Dolphins | LaMichael James being promoted Mon Nov 10, 12:52 PM
Miami Dolphins RB LaMichael James will be promoted from the practice squad to the active roster Monday, Nov. 10.

Dolphins | Miami signs LaMichael James Tue Sep 30, 05:33 PM
The Miami Dolphins signed free-agent RB LaMichael James (49ers) Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Footballguys view: This move was expected for some time. James failed to play up to his potential with the 49ers, but now he gets a fresh start with the Dolphins. We can't envision him being much of a fantasy factor, and James may be primarily used as a special teams player. |

Dolphins | Looking at LaMichael James Tue Sep 16, 06:07 PM
Free-agent RB LaMichael James (49ers) worked out for the Miami Dolphins, according to a league source.

San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (elbow) will wear a brace on his dislocated elbow and should be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Footballguys view: We'll see what kind of role James has in 2014. Carlos Hyde is likely to be the primary backup behind Frank Gore this year. James could be a change-of-pace back for the 49ers, and he could work as a return man as well. |

49ers | LaMichael James dislocates elbow Sun Jul 27, 07:49 PM
Updating an earlier report, San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (elbow) suffered a dislocated elbow Sunday, July 27.
Footballguys view: Another blow for the 49ers' backfield here. They already lost Kendall Hunter for the season due to a knee injury. Without James on the field, a guy like Jewel Hampton will get a larger opportunity. We've always had an appreciation for Hampton is super deep dynasty leagues. Rookie Carlos Hyde should be the primary backup behind Frank Gore this year. |

San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James could have trouble making the roster this year, according to ESPN.com's Bill Williamson. Williamson believes RB Frank Gore, RB Carlos Hyde, RB Marcus Lattimore, RB Kendall Hunter and FB Bruce Miller will make the roster.

49ers | LaMichael James top candidate for return jobs Sat Jul 19, 12:01 PM
San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James will be entering training camp as the leading candidate for the kick and punt return jobs. WR Bruce Ellington, WR Devon Wylie, WR Quinton Patton and CB Perrish Cox are expected to compete with James for the jobs.
Footballguys view: James has to do something to stand out in the league's most crowded backfield. He's buried on the depth chart behind Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter and rookie Carlos Hyde (at least). James has little fantasy value--even in dynasty leagues. |

San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James and WR Devon Wylie were the only two players working on fielding punts during practice Tuesday, June 3, during voluntary workouts. James looked more comfortable catching the ball on a windy day.
Footballguys view: James will have to prove himself on special teams if he wants to make the final roster. "Wiggles" Wylie is a fantastic option at punt preturner. He's quick, fast and can make defenders miss. Too bad he struggles to stay healthy dating back to his days at Fresno State. |

San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James joined the team for voluntary workouts this week. James had previously been absent, subsequently forfeiting a $50,000 workout bonus in his contract.
Footballguys view: James stayed away from the team in an effort to force their hand. The team didn't trade him during the draft, and James may find it difficult to make the final roster. At this time, it seems like James is going to be around for at least training camp. |

49ers | Marcus Lattimore expected to compete for time Sat Apr 26, 08:30 PM
San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore is expected to compete with RBs Kendall Hunter and LaMichael James this upcoming season.
Footballguys view: Lattimore is one of the most talented young backs in the league. If healthy, he could be a quality starter for most any team. However, in San Francisco he'll have to begin his pro career as a backup behind Frank Gore. Lattimore missed all of last season so he could fully recover from the knee injury that cut his 2012 season short at South Carolina. |

49ers | LaMichael James has not asked team for a trade Fri Apr 25, 04:18 PM
Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said RB LaMichael James and his agent have not made a request to the team to trade him. "Not outside of the tweeter, the twitting, whatever you call it," Baalke said when asked if James has asked for a trade.
Footballguys view: Baalke going with his best Betty White impression here. The Twitter buzz has been rampant about the 49ers shopping James. A team like the Chiefs could be interested in trading for his services to replace Dexter McCluster (Titans). Baalke is not an old man, but apparently he is not that familiar with the social networking platform. He might as well have yelled "Get off my lawn!" while shaking his fist. |

The San Francisco 49ers have no intentions of trading RB LaMichael James, according to general manager Trent Baalke.

49ers | LaMichael James not at workouts Mon Apr 21, 02:02 PM
San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James is training in Texas by himself and did not report for the start of offseason workouts Monday, April 21.
Footballguys view: Miami and Philadelphia have been mentioned as possible trade partners. The 49ers would be lucky to recoup the sixth-round pick they spent to acquire Blaine Gabbert, as James has done little to nothing during his two years in the league. |

Chiefs | Could consider LaMichael James Sat Apr 19, 12:17 PM
The Kansas City Chiefs could consider pursuing San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James if he could become a slot receiver. The team likely would not have interest in James if he can only be a running back since they have RBs Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis on the roster.
Footballguys view: James could work well as a slot receiver. He could take the place of Dexter McCluster (Titans) who moved on in free agency. James has the speed and change of direction ability to be dangerous in space. |

49ers | Shopping LaMichael James Wed Apr 16, 11:27 PM
According to a league source, the San Francisco 49ers have been shopping RB LaMichael James. He finds himself behind RBs Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter and perhaps Marcus Lattimore on the depth chart at running back this season.
Footballguys view: Good luck. The free-agency market for backs is terrible, so trading for a part-time back isn't going to harvest much in return. James could be a decent change-of-pace back, but he's buried on the depth chart in San Francisco. They have a great group of backs from top to bottom. We even like Jewel Hampton in super deep dynasty leagues. |

49ers | LaMichael James may be placed on trade block Sun Feb 9, 09:53 PM
The San Francisco 49ers may be willing to trade RB LaMichael James this offseason if they able to have another plan for their return game. James could be on the trade block because of the other running backs the team on their roster.
Footballguys view: The 49ers are stacked at the running back position. Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, Marcus Lattimore and Anthony Dixon are all backs who can contribute. Even practice squad back Jewell Hampton is a good player. James is a change-of-pace back, and he doesn't really fit what the 49ers want out of the position. We can't imagine the trade offers to come flooding in for the diminutive runner. |

49ers | LaMichael James not expected to have big role Sat Feb 1, 02:53 PM
San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James is not expected to have a big role on offense next season because he does not appear to be a fit for the team's power-running style. James could be used as a return man next season.
Footballguys view: James is dangerous with the ball in his hands in the open field. He's not a fit for running between the tackles. The return of Marcus Lattimore will cut into everybody's touches, including Frank Gore. |
