Packers | Josh Jacobs a big factor in back half of 2024 Thu Jul 3, 11:47 AM
Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs rushed for 12 of his 15 touchdowns during the second half of the 2024 NFL season even though he rushed for 667 yards in the first half and 662 yards in the second half.
Footballguys view: Jacobs was a stud for the Packers last year. In 17 games, Jacobs ran 301 times for 1329 yards and a career-high 15 touchdowns. He also added a career-best 9.5 yards per reception on 43 targets. This year, Fantasy GMs are taking Jabobs off the board in the second or third round with a current ADP of RB10. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs is looking better than he did at this time last year and will not have any limitations during offseason workouts, according to running backs coach Ben Sirmans.
Footballguys view: As CheeseheadTV.com suggested, Packers GM Brian Gutekunst took a gamble replacing longtime locker room leader and fan favorite Aaron Jones with Jacobs, but it paid off. In his first season with Green Bay, Jacobs finished sixth in the league with 1,329 YDs rushing on 301 attempts. He averaged 4.4 YDs per carry and totaled 15 rushing TDs, third among running backs. He was reliable, playing in all 17 games and caught 43 passes for 342 yards, scoring his first career receiving touchdown in week 7. His average of 9.5 yards per catch was second among the top 25 running backs in catches. But make no mistake, handing the ball to Jacobs is a winning formula, and we'll see it again this season. Jacobs is RB10 on the initial Footballguys 2025 Projections. That aligns directly with his current RB10 Average Draft Position in early Underdog best-ball drafts. Fantasy managers who invest in anticipated workload will find this price appealing. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs said he believes the team needs to add a proven No. 1 wide receiver this offseason.
Footballguys view: Some want to make this statement more than it is; a mere statement of truth...and the truth isn't meant to make you feel good. The Packers don't have a true no.1 receiver and instead have spread the ball around in their passing game. How's that working out? Getting a stud, clear-cut no.1 receiver that QB Jordan Love could lean on could change the dynamics of this offense. Jacobs was not being disrespectful to any of his teammates, he was merely stating fact. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs recorded 737 rushing yards after contact during the 2024 regular season. He also recorded 35 broken tackles during the season.
Footballguys view: In his first season in Green Bay, Jacobs ran for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on 301 carries and caught 36 passes for 342 yards and one touchdown. The 15 rushing touchdowns were a career-high for Jacobs, and his receiving TD was the first of his career. The former Raider finished the season as RB5 (through Week 17) with an average of 18 fantasy points per game. He'll be in the RB1 conversation again next year, with Footballguy Dave Kluge advising readers that a talented back with ideal usage on a good offense shouldn't slip any lower than the top half of Round 2 in drafts this year. |

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love completed 20-of-33 passes for 212 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions while running for 10 yards in the NFC wild-card game loss against the Philadelphia Eagles. RB Josh Jacobs rushed 18 times for 81 yards and a touchdown, while adding three receptions for 40 yards. WR Jayden Reed, who left with a shoulder injury, ended up with a team-high 46 yards on four targets, and Jacobs was second-best with 40 receiving yards. WR Dontayvion Wicks finished with 39 yards on two grabs with six targets, and TE Tucker Kraft absorbed all five of his targets for 26 yards. WR Romeo Doubs, who checked out early due to a possible concussion, ended up with 13 yards on two receptions. LB Quay Walker gutted his way through the way, finishing with a team-high four solo tackles with eight total stops.
Footballguys view: Love didn't play nearly as well as he did last year in the postseason, but he was without Christian Watson coming in, and lost Jayden Reed and Romeo Doubs during the game. Josh Jacobs, on the other hand, rose to the occasion, and had the play of the day to set up his one-yard touchdown run, the only on the day for the team. Jacobs ended up being a big addition, but the passing game didn't live up to higher expectations after a promising 2023. Jordan Love and the Packers passcatchers will be going a lot lower in fantasy drafts this year. |

Footballguys view: Monday night against the Saints, Jacobs should have a big game. He's been a set-it-and-forget-it starter for Fantasy GMs all season long. We've got him as a top-5 running back option in Week 16. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs carried the ball 18 times for 66 yards and three touchdowns against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Footballguys view: Jacobs wasn't able find a lot of room to run against a good Lions run defense, but the Packers determination to have him finish scoring drives made for a huge night anyway. Jacobs has been on a tear in fantasy leagues and should be in a lot of playoff lineups against the Seahawks next week. |

Updating previous reports, Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (calf) has dealt with this nagging calf injury, and his participation level Wednesday, Dec. 4, will shed light on his status.
Footballguys view: The Packers are on the road against the Lions on Thursday night. Jacobs is not 100 percent healthy, and dealing with this nagging injury (plus going against a tough Lions defense) makes him more of a volume-based RB1. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs carried the ball 19 times for 43 yards and a touchdown against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Nov. 28. He also caught four passes (on four targets) for 74 yards.
Footballguys view: Jacobs workload was supposed to be scaled back for this one after a big Week 12, but you wouldn't know it from the box score. He has arrived as an everyweek RB1 play with the Packers offense coming into focus with the weather getting colder. Jacobs will have a tough test against the stout Lions run defense next Thursday. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (non-injury) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 13. The Packers did not hold a practice Wednesday, so his practice participation is an estimation.
Footballguys view: We like Jacobs as an RB1 on Thursday against the Dolphins. Jacobs rushed 26 times for 106 yards and three touchdowns in the Packers' Week 12 win over the 49ers. He could be in for around a 20 point week in PPR formats. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (rest) was limited in practice on Monday, Nov. 25. The injury report was an estimation because the Packers didn't hold a full practice.
Footballguys view: As Yahoo! Sports noted, Jacobs ran for three touchdowns and became the first 100-yard rusher against the 49ers in an NFL-record 56 games. He was credited with a season-high 14 missed tackles through three quarters, and his fantasy day would've been even bigger if not for resting the final 11 minutes of the blowout due to leg cramps. A day off practice on a short week seems more than reasonable. Expect him to start and play as usual against the Dolphins on Thursday night. |

Packers running back Josh Jacobs scored three times on three runs of 1-yard in Sunday's win over the 49ers. He rushed for 106 yards on 26 carries while dealing with leg cramps in the second half.
Footballguys view: It was the first time Jacobs had three rushing touchdowns in a game since he was with the Las Vegas Raiders. In October 2022, he scored three times against the Houston Texans. Despite the missed time due to cramping, there's no reason to believe Jacobs won't be ready to roll for Thursday night's game against the Dolphins. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs rushed 18 times for 76 yards and a touchdown in Week 11 against the Chicago Bears, while adding four receptions for 58 yards on five targets.
Footballguys view: Jacobs was as strong as he has looked in a Packers uniform, and he kept the offense on schedule against a Bears defense that is still a tough draw. The Packers offense is becoming more Jacobs-centric heading into a showdown with the 49ers. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs rushed for 76 yards on 12 carries against the Houston Texans in Week 7. He also caught five passes for 16 yards and one touchdown during the game.
Footballguys view: Jacobs touchdown catch was the first of his career on his 212th catch, an NFL record for the most catches without a touchdown to start a career. The Packers offense has been surprisingly pass heavy, but today it worked out for Jacobs, who was also very productive on the limited carries he did get. Jacobs should be set up for a bigger day against the Jaguars next week. |

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs rushed 18 times for a game-high 62 yards in Week 6 against the Arizona Cardinals, while posting three receptions for 28 yards on three targets.
Footballguys view: Jacobs is still the clear leader of this backfield and the Packers scored four offensive touchdowns, so it's not all disappointment for Jacobs fantasy teams. Still, Emanuel Wilson looks good behind Jacobs and the team is not going to overwork their lead back, so Jacobs doesn't have the top 10 running back ceiling we thought he might have when AJ Dillon and Marshawn Lloyd were hurt to open the season. |
