Ravens | DeAndre Hopkins brings new element Thu Jul 3, 11:47 AM
Baltimore Ravens WR DeAndre Hopkins believes he could be the 'piece that's been missing' from the offense, and QB Lamar Jackson said he can already tell that Hopkins is a different type of receiver.
Footballguys view: It's good that Hopkins believes that, but he's simply not the player he used to be anymore. Perhaps he's found a fountain of youth in Baltimore, but the Chiefs phased him out of their offense last year after they traded for him. Projecting him for 30 or so catches this year seems appropriate...and that makes him a player Fantasy GMs will be leaving on the waiver wire. |

Baltimore Ravens WR DeAndre Hopkins has been helping the other receivers with advice this offseason, according to WR Rashod Bateman.
Footballguys view: Despite a midseason trade to a receiver-needy Kansas City team last year, Hopkins struggled to find a productive role for himself. The Ravens ranked 31st in pass attempts last year. And with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews, and Isaiah Likely all projected ahead of him in the pecking order, it's hard to expect much from a 33-year-old Hopkins. After playing with the Chiefs last year and the Ravens this year, Hopkins' primary goal appears to be getting a ring before he retires. |

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is wrapping up his first offseason program with the Ravens, and he's made a strong impression on at least one of his new teammates. It's an important one. "That guy is dope. He is different," quarterback Lamar Jackson said via the team's website.
Footballguys view: Hopkins made a sliding, one-handed grab of a pass that Jackson threw behind him in Tuesday's minicamp practice, and Jackson raved about what would come from Hopkins' ability to make plays like that when he spoke to reporters after the session. "That's some super vet type of stuff," Jackson said. "I am looking forward to throwing a lot of touchdowns to him this year." As PFT notes, Hopkins, currently being drafted as WR72, and Jackson will continue working on theirs at training camp before hitting the field against the Bills on the first Sunday night of the regular season. |

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 21 of his 32 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions in a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. He was also sacked six times and lost a fumble. RB Kareem Hunt and RB Isiah Pacheco combined for 16 rushing yards on six carries, and WR Xavier Worthy finished with eight receptions for 157 yards and two touchdowns. TE Travis Kelce had four receptions for 39 yards, and WR DeAndre Hopkins had two grabs for 18 yards and a score. LB Drue Tranquill had a game-high 11 tackles and a sack.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs' quest for Super Bowl history never got off the ground. Philadelphia's swarming defense held Mahomes and the two-time defending champions to just 23 yards in the first half, and the Eagles led by 24 points at halftime before rolling on to the victory that kept the Chiefs from becoming the first team to win three straight Super Bowl titles and delivered the second in Eagles history. |

The Kansas City Chiefs topped the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game, advancing to face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9. QB Patrick Mahomes completed 18-of-26 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions, while running 11 times for 43 yards and two scores and a lost fumble. RB Kareem Hunt had 17 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown, while RB Isiah Pacheco ran five times for 12 yards with two receptions for 12 yards. WR Xavier Worthy added six receptions for a game-high 85 yards and a touchdown, while rushing twice for 16 yards. WR JuJu Smith-Schuster was good for two receptions and 60 yards, while WR Marquise Brown had three snags for 35 yards on five targets. TE Travis Kelce was fairly quiet with just two catches and 19 yards on four targets, while WR DeAndre Hopkins had a single 11-yard grab on two targets. CB Chamarri Conner and LB Drue Tranquill each had nine total tackles.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com noted, Mahomes had one of his better games of the season. He mostly threw quick passes and was much sharper with them than in the Divisional Round victory over the Texans. The Bills were effective in eliminating Mahomes as a runner when the teams met in the regular season in Week 11, holding him without a carry. But Mahomes' running was a significant factor in this game. He not only scored twice but converted on a run on fourth down in the second quarter, which kept a drive alive for the Chiefs that turned into their second touchdown. Meanwhile, a week after his big divisional game against the Texans, Kelce was quiet. Fortunately, the wideouts showed p. Now the Chiefs will have two weeks to prepare to take on the Eagles and attempt to deliver a "Three-Peat" in New Orleans. |

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes went 16-for-25 for 177 yards and one touchdown against the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round playoff game. He also rushed for 14 yards on seven carries during the game. RB Kareem Hunt rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown on eight carries, while RB Isiah Pacheco rushed for 18 yards on five carries. TE Travis Kelce caught seven passes for 117 yards and one touchdown on eight targets, WR Xavier Worthy caught five passes for 45 yards on six targets and WR DeAndre Hopkins was targeted one time during the game and finished with zero receptions.
Footballguys view: Mahomes was under duress for most of the game, but he was able to find Kelce in the end zone once. The Chiefs rested their starters in Week 18, so there might have been some rust for the entire team to shake off in this game. Going forward, the Chiefs will have to be sharper as they'll face either the Ravens or the Bills in the AFC Championship Game. |

Kansas City Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins landed half of his four targets for seven yards at the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17 on Wednesday, Dec. 25.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs filled the air with footballs, but Hopkins was barely involved. The Chiefs are the no.1 seed in the AFC, and they are looking for their third ring in a row. Hopkins is looking for his first championship, but he has to be okay with being further down the pecking order than he was in his heyday. |

Updating a previous report, the conditional 2025 fifth-round pick the Tennessee Titans received in the trade with the Kansas City Chiefs for DeAndre Hopkins can become a fourth-rounder if the Chiefs make the Super Bowl and Hopkins plays 60% of snaps, per source. The Titans are also eating $2.5 million of Hopkins' salary.

Kansas City Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins is expected to play with his new team against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. Hopkins playing time will be determined later in the week through practice time. Right now, super early in the week, consider the veteran at least a 'what the heck' flex in Week 8. |

Tennessee Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins was shipped to the Kansas City Chiefs Wednesday, Oct. 23, for a conditional fourth-round pick.
Footballguys view: The Titans get something back for the veteran, and this move opens things up for WR Calvin Ridley. With QB Will Levis still starting, we don't have much faith in the Titans passing game. We should see Ridley dominate the targets in this somewhat inept passing attack. Ridley caught 3-of-9 targets for 42 yards in the Titans' Week 7 loss to the Bills. |

Tennessee Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs Wednesday, Oct. 23, in exchange for a conditional fourth-round pick.
Footballguys view: The Chiefs needed a ton of help at the wide receiver position, so they make this move for Hopkins for a good price. With JuJu Smith-Schuster (hamstring) banged up, Hopkins should play early for the Chiefs. He won't know the language of the offense just yet, but he's a seasoned veteran who can get open and make plays. Yes, Hopkins is not the same player he used to be but this is an upgrade for him and the Chiefs. |

Tennessee Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins (leg) was unable to finish the Week 7 game because of lower leg soreness.
Footballguys view: Hopkins stood on the sideline while the Titans went three-and-out early in the fourth quarter and during the Titans' next drive, which resulted in an interception, looking detached from the offensive coaching staff and players. He did not check into the lineup as the Titans ran the clock out in the final minute. Callahan said it wasn't a coach's decision to keep Hopkins out of the game. After a 1,057-yard season in 2023 while showing a connection with Will Levis, Hopkins has not had the same production this year, much like the Titans' offense. Hopkins has 15 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown in six games, including one catch for minus-2 yards on his only target Sunday. We'll monitor his status in coming days. |
