Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports the Cleveland Browns worked out free-agent WR Robert Ferguson (Falcons) earlier this week, according to a league source.

The Atlanta Falcons have announced the release of WR Troy Bergeron, RB Thomas Brown, OL Mike Butterworth, WR Robert Ferguson, LB Robert James, WR Aaron Kelly, DE Maurice Lucas, CB William Middleton, TE Jason Rader, QB D.J. Shockley, OG Jose Valdez, DT Vance Walker and LB Jamie Winborn.
| Footballguys view: Jason Snelling made the final roster over Brown, and he could be a very valuable waiver wire pickup if something happens to Michael Turner. Snelling is a RB/FB 'tweener, and would be the power back the Falcons would team up with Jerious Norwood in case of emergency. Snelling even played a little Wildcat QB last year for Atlanta. Marty Booker and Eric Weems made the team as the fourth and fifth wide receivers. |

Pat Yasinskas, of ESPN.com, reports that Falcons WR Robert Ferguson has made a good impression on the Falcons so far. He has a chance to be the team's #3 wideout.

Falcons | Sign two veteran receivers, Douglas on IR Thu Aug 6, 08:27 PM
Adam Schefter, from ESPN, is reporting Falcons today signed free agent wide receivers Marty Booker and Robert Ferguson and placed wide receiver Harry Douglas on injured reserve. The Atlanta Falcons also announced they have released WR Bradon Godfrey from the team.

| Footballguys view: There are certainly a lot of other names that were available in free agency that would have gotten us more excited than Ferguson. All in all, we have to say that Brian Finneran is probably the big winner here, as he moves squarely into the #3 WR role, since the team didn't really sign someone to give him a run for that role. |
