Ravens | Four Ravens sign Reserve/Future deals    Mon Jan 1, 05:05 PM

Baltimore Ravens QB Josh Woodrum, FB Ricky Ortiz, RB John Crockett and OT Steven Moore were signed to a Reserve/Future deal Monday, Jan. 1.

Footballguys view: Woodrum entered the league as a UDFA for the Giants out of Liberty College in 2016. At 6'3" 225 pounds, Woodrum has flashed a bit during his preseason reps. He's athletic and can threaten a defense as a runner. Backup QB Ryan Mallett is set to hit the free agent market in 2018, so Woodrum could be in the mix as the no2 QB for the Ravens behind Joe Flacco.

Ravens | Jeremy Langford to IR    Thu Sep 21, 11:04 AM

Baltimore Ravens RB Jeremy Langford (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Sept. 21. Free-agent RB John Crockett (Raiders) was signed to the practice squad.

Footballguys view: Right now, Javorius Allen looks like he has the keys to the backfield, so everyone else is just looking to pick up scraps. Even if he gets most of the carries, we still don't see Allen as more than an RB3 this week since he faces a strong run defense and the offensive line is missing a guard. While the guard may not be a big deal to an outside runner like Allen, the defense will. Plus he is likely to share carries with Terrance West or Alex Collins if West is out.

Raiders | Oakland inks John Crockett    Fri Jul 14, 03:46 PM

Free-agent RB John Crockett (Packers) signed an undisclosed deal with the Oakland Raiders on Friday, July 14.

Footballguys view: Crockett was on Injured Reserve last year for the Packers but saw two games of action as an undrafted rookie from North Dakota State in 2015. He's an upright runner, with a slashing style. Crockett has some power and a little bit of burst but he's a longshot to make the final roster in Oakland.

Packers | John Crockett injured    Sat Aug 27, 09:01 AM

Green Bay Packers RB John Crockett (shoulder) suffered a shoulder injury during the preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers Friday, Aug. 26.

Footballguys view: Crockett has struggled with injury during his time in the NFL. He's a back who doesn't elude contact, and this shoulder injury could slow him down.

Packers | John Crockett spry after weight loss    Tue Aug 2, 12:08 PM

Green Bay Packers RB John Crockett arrived at training camp weighing 217 pounds after playing at a slightly heavier weight last season. He looked nimble and twitchy as a runner, according to Michael Cohen, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Crockett is trying to create a role for himself in the offense as the expected No. 3 running back.

Footballguys view: Crockett needs to show more "NFL" juice in his legs. He's an instinctive runner who hits the ground hard when he cuts, but Crockett never seemed to have the burst needed to excel as a pro back. We'll see if this lighter weight gives him enough speed to succeed.

The Green Bay Packers have declared LB Andy Mulumba, QB Brett Hundley, C Corey Linsley, RB John Crockett, CB Ladarius Gunter, LB Nick Perry, WR Ty Montgomery inactive for Week 14.

Footballguys view: Crockett being inactive is a good sign that the Packers have confidence in Eddie Lacy again.

Packers | Eddie Lacy can regain starting job    Tue Dec 8, 04:33 PM

Green Bay Packers RB Eddie Lacy has a chance to regain the starting job after he was demoted for missing curfew ahead of the team's Week 13 game. RB John Crockett was active against the Detroit Lions last week, and Lacy will have to earn a promotion. 'I think Eddie's been rejuvenated,' head coach Mike McCarthy said. 'His work was good today. I checked in on him just like I do with all the players, and I look for him to have a very good week of practice, and I look for him to be productive Sunday.'

Footballguys view: He may regain the starting job, but fantasy owners are not going to trust him much in the first week of the fantasy playoffs. The Packers have not named a starting running back for Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Packers | Players added to practice squad    Mon Sep 7, 05:02 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jared Abbrederis, RB John Crockett and TE Justin Perillo were signed to the practice squad Monday, Sept. 7.

Footballguys view: We're watching both Abbrederis and Crockett in deep dynasty leagues. Abbrederis is a fine route runner with the ability to create separation at the stem of the route. Crockett is a good all-purpose back with a strong work ethic.

Packers | Green Bay cuts two    Sat Sep 5, 06:45 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jared Abbrederis and RB John Crockett were cut Saturday, Sept. 5.

Footballguys view: Crockett just lacks the juice in his legs to make an impact at the pro level. He's a hard worker with a good (not great) all-purpose skill set. We'll see if he can stick around on the practice squad.

Packers | John Crockett will be ready for training camp    Thu Jun 18, 06:51 PM

Green Bay Packers rookie RB John Crockett (ankle) is nursing a sprained left ankle, but should be available for the start of training camp July 30.

Footballguys view: Crockett is buried on the Packers depth chart. The undrafted rookie from North Dakota State is a hard worker, but he's not overly quick, fast or powerful. He'll have to work hard to make the team as a practice squad player in 2015. Only fantasy owners in dynasty leagues should be watching his situation.

Packers | John Crockett sitting    Thu Jun 18, 11:49 AM

Green Bay Packers RB John Crockett (ankle) is out of practice Thursday, June 18. He left practice Tuesday, June 16, and had ice on his left ankle.

Footballguys view: Someone call Tubbs - find out where his pastel-jacket wearing partner is. This news isn't terribly tragic as Crockett is so buried on the depth chart right now, that missing some minicamp is no big deal. He's not likely to have any value in redraft leagues anyway and is no more than a deep dynasty guy or a backup for Eddie Lacy. If Lacy was down long-term, Crockett could function well as a three-down back. However he's not terribly strong or fast so his upside is limited.

Dolphins | MIA shows interest in John Crockett    Wed Apr 29, 11:22 PM

The Miami Dolphins have been showing an interest in North Dakota State RB John Crockett, a player who ran for 1,994 yards last season and has been called a poor man's Eddie George.

Footballguys view: Crockett is not fast, but he runs with some pop at the point of attack. He's an upright runner, and that does make him easier to bring down. Crockett will have to lower his pad level and increase his leg drive if he wants to break tackles in the NFL like he did at North Dakota State.

Jaguars | John Crockett to work out for JAX    Thu Apr 2, 08:44 AM

North Dakota State RB John Crockett will work out for the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to sources.

Footballguys view: Crockett was a productive FCS runner, and he has good patience and vision. With 30 catches last year, Crockett proved he could be used as a receiver out of the backfield effectively. He's a small-school RB to keep an eye on.

Cardinals | John Crockett to work out for Arizona    Thu Apr 2, 08:44 AM

North Dakota State RB John Crockett will work out for the Arizona Cardinals, according to sources.

Footballguys view: The Cardinals are looking to upgrade their ground game, and Crockett could be an option for them in the 2015 NFL draft. Crocket has good patience and vision as a runner, but he is high cut and might not be able to get more than what's blocked for him at the pro level.
