Texans | Work out six players Tuesday    Wed Oct 13, 09:31 AM

The Houston Texans worked out free-agent WRs Demetrius Williams (Ravens), Reggie Brown (Buccaneers), Derek Hagan (Giants) and Dexter M. Jackson (Panthers) and QBs Colt Brennan (Raiders) and Jarrett Brown (49ers), a source told Aaron Wilson, of NationalFootballPost.com.

Footballguys view: The Texans are looking for help at the wide receiver position and in the return game here. The two quarterbacks they worked out would be developmental prospects only if they sign.

Buccaneers | Reggie Brown released    Mon Sep 6, 05:06 PM

Footballguys view: The veteran receiver came over from Philadelphia hoping for a fresh start but never impressed during training camp or the preseason.

Buccaneers | Battle at wide receiver kicking off    Thu Jul 29, 03:50 AM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WRs Reggie Brown, Michael Clayton, Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams will battle during training camp for starting roles at wide receiver, reports Ira Kaufman, of The Tampa Tribune. The Buccaneers' coaches are excited about the big-play potential Williams brings to the table and he may be able to provide QB Josh Freeman with the deep threat he is looking for.

Footballguys view: Brown and Clayton are the veteran underachievers trying to show they deserve playing time over the two rookies. Arrelious Benn is dangerous on underneath routes, and Williams can use his deep speed to attack a defense downfield. Second-year wideout Sammie Stroughter should be the Bucs slot receiver, regardless of who is named the starters in Tampa.

Buccaneers | Reggie Brown impressive this offseason    Mon Jul 19, 08:56 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Reggie Brown has made a nice impression on the team this offseason, reports Stephen Holder, of the St. Petersburg Times. Coaches have noticed Brown's good work ethic and fundamentals. Wide receivers coach Eric Yarber said, "I've been impressed with Reggie Brown in how he carries himself like a pro. Early on in camp and OTAs, he got a lot of looks and caught a lot of balls. Right now, you might not see the flash. But as a coaching staff, we see it on film. He's open a lot. He just hasn't gotten the opportunity to make plays. But he brings a veteran savvy to our group with know-how. I've told a lot of the guys to watch how he prepares and how he runs routes."

Footballguys view: Brown has been a successful receiver in the past, and opportunity should present itself in Tampa if any of the young receivers aren't ready for prime time, so while we wouldn't draft Brown, we would keep him on the waiver wire watch list early in the season, and on the preseason watch list.

Buccaneers | Brown works hard to impress new team    Sat Jun 26, 05:02 PM

Rick Stroud, from the St. Petersburg Times, reports veteran wideout Reggie Brown is making a nice impression as he completed an impressive offseason with Tampa Bay. Brown isn't the flashiest guy and he maybe isn't the fastest, either. But that doesn't mean he won't find ways to make plays after being traded by the Eagles to the Bucs in March for a sixth-round pick. His good work ethic and fundamentals have not gone unnoticed by coaches. "I've been impressed with Reggie Brown in how he carries himself like a pro," Bucs receivers coach Eric Yarber said. "Early on in camp and OTAs, he got a lot of looks and caught a lot of balls. Right now, you might not see the flash."

Footballguys view: Reggie Brown was a disappointment during his career in Philadelphia, so perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what he needs. We like the two rookie receivers (Arrelious Benn, Mike Williams) more than Brown, and don't see him being overly productive this season.

Buccaneers | Reggie Brown could move up depth chart during camp    Tue Jun 22, 06:19 PM

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Reggie Brown has been working with the second-team offense during offseason workouts but will be given the opportunity during training camp to move up the depth chart, according to PewterReport.com's Scott Reynolds.

Footballguys view: Reggie Brown has never lived up to expectations, but is hoping for a fresh start in Tampa Bay. While he could move up the depth chart, we see rookie Arrelious Benn and Mike Williams as the starting duo for the Bucs.

Buccaneers | R. Brown to compete for starting job    Sat Mar 13, 05:25 PM

Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik said WR Reggie Brown will be given the opportunity to compete for one of the starting receiver position and could become the team's No. 1 receiver.

Footballguys view: Reggie Brown has never lived up to his potential so far in his pro career, but perhaps a fresh start is exactly what he needs.

Buccaneers | R. Brown acquired via trade    Mon Mar 8, 08:24 PM

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded a 2011 sixth-round draft choice to the Philadelphia Eagles for WR Reggie Brown.

Footballguys view: The Bucs let Antonio Bryant explore free agency, so they need serious help in their WR corps. Reggie Brown has never lived up to his potential, so a change of scenery might just be what the doctor ordered.

Eagles | Week 2 Inactives    Sun Sep 20, 11:51 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared WR Brandon Gibson, QB Donovan McNabb, LB Joe Mays, QB Michael Vick, OL Mike McGlynn, SS Quintin Demps, WR Reggie Brown, OG Todd Herremans inactive for Week 2.

Footballguys view: Kevin Kolb gets the call to start in Philadelphia, but Jeff Garcia will have his helmet in hand if Kolb struggles. DeSean Jackson is active, but temper your expectations for all Eagle WR today.

Eagles | Have been shopping R. Brown, Baskett    Tue Sep 15, 10:41 AM

Sal Paolantonio, of ESPN, reports the Philadelphia Eagles tried to trade WRs Reggie Brown and Hank Baskett in the last week and a half, but were unsuccessful.

Footballguys view: The Eagles haven't been successful in shopping players recently. They were rumored to be shopping quarterback A.J. Feeley, but ended up having to cut him. Feeley is now in Carolina, and perhaps teams are just waiting for the Eagles to release one of the two wideouts before making a move. Hank Baskett would be the most coveted receiver out of the two because of his high upside, size, and big play ability.

Eagles | Week 1 Inactives    Sun Sep 13, 11:57 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have declared WR Brandon Gibson, DL Jason Babin, LB Joe Mays, WR Reggie Brown, FS Sean Jones, OT Shawn Andrews, OG Todd Herremans inactive for Week 1.

Footballguys view: Sean Jones was speculated as a possible starter for this team when he was signed, but obviously that is not in the cards. The Eagles are also without 2/5 of their starting offensive line.

Eagles | R. Brown may not be on his way out of town    Sat Sep 5, 06:47 AM

Geoff Mosher, of The News Journal, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Reggie Brown is a serious contender to be released from the team. He had a career-best 61 receptions last season. 'Either I'll be here Monday or I won't be here Monday,' Brown said Friday, Sept. 4. He didn't get into the game Thursday until the fourth quarter and appears no better than the team's fifth receiver. There is also the possibility the team could try to trade him instead of release him.

Footballguys view: Reggie Brown has been a disappointment since coming out of Georgia, and perhaps a change of scenery would benefit him.

Eagles | Could package Feeley and Brown together in trade    Fri Sep 4, 12:04 PM

Bob Brookover, from the Philadelphia Inquirer, notes if general manager Tom Heckert has any unused minutes on his cell phone, he will exhaust them in the next 24 hours as the Eagles attempt to trade veteran A.J. Feeley, leaving Donovan McNabb, Kevin Kolb and Vick as the team's three quarterbacks. It wouldn't be surprising either if Feeley, who played just one series last night, was being offered in a package with wide receiver Reggie Brown, a former starter who was still playing in the fourth quarter last night.

Footballguys view: Now that Michael Vick will be eligible to play in week 3 of the regular season, the Eagles are looking to move A.J. Feeley - and move him quick. The Eagles are rumored to want a tight end in exchange for the quarterback because injuries have robbed them of depth at the position behind starter Brent Celek. Several teams are reportedly interested in Feeley, and we anticipate a deal will go down soon.

Eagles | Ravens, Jets eyeing Philly wide receivers    Wed Aug 26, 02:55 PM

Paul Domowitch, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports that at least two teams - the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Jets - are keeping a close eye on the Eagles wide receiver situation.

Footballguys view: The Eagles have at least six NFL quality wide receivers in DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Kevin Curtis, Reggie Brown, Jason Avant, and Hank Baskett. Any of the last three on that list could get traded in the next few weeks as teams start to prepare their final rosters.

  Eagles | Maclin, R. Brown second-team WRs    Sun Aug 9, 05:13 PM

Bob Kent, of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin and WR Reggie Brown are listed as the team's second-team wide receivers on the team's depth chart.

Footballguys view: Brown has been having a good 2009 by most reports, so this isn't that shocking. Pick him up off the waiver wire in any deep dynasty leagues.

Eagles | R. Brown trying to recapture early career promise    Fri Jul 24, 12:50 AM

Les Bowen, of The Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Reggie Brown has had a strong offseason. He has looked determined to recapture the promise he showed during his first two seasons. However, the Eagles are very deep at wide receiver, so it might be too little, too late for Brown.

Footballguys view: Brown was productive before last year, and the Eagles passing offense is plug and play. Brown could end up as the #3 wideout this year if he is consistent because he is a better route runner than Hank Baskett and he is more athletic than Jason Avant.

Eagles | Reggie Brown excels in OTAs    Fri Jun 26, 04:29 PM

Adam Caplan, of Scout.com, reports that a source told him WR Reggie Brown had possibly the strongest performance of any Eagles on either side of the ball in OTAs. He speculated that Brown could move up from his current place of fifth on the depth chart on the strength of his performance.

Footballguys view: Brown has been a fantasy-relevant receiver in the past, and he's far from over the hill, entering only his fourth season in the league. He should be picked up in all deep dynasty leagues, and possibly even shallower PPR leagues. Keep tabs on Brown's progress in training camp, because Jeremy Maclin is probably not going to be ready to make a huge contribution in his rookie year, and Brown is more talented than Jason Avant and Hank Baskett, the two receivers standing between him and the #3 spot.

Eagles | Re. Brown might not make team    Thu Jun 11, 07:32 PM

John Smallwood, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles WR Reggie Brown might have trouble making the team's final roster.

Footballguys view: He struggled last season and was deactivated for three games late in the year. Brown will battle WR Jason Avant and WR Hank Baskett for the remaining receiving spots. Brown said, "Hopefully, I'll have a good training camp and I can get back to a starting position. Maybe not, but at least having an opportunity to go out there and play."
