Eagles | More frustration for A.J. Brown? Sat Oct 18, 08:52 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown faces the Minnesota Vikings in Week 7, and the Vikings are allowing the second-fewest passing yards per game (157.6).

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown had six receptions (on nine targets) for 80 yards during the team's Week 6 loss to the New York Giants.

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown posted five receptions for 43 yards on eight targets in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.
Footballguys view: Brown, who acknowledged some frustration with his role this season, emphasized he wants to be called upon in big moments and to get the offense going. Against Denver, Brown delivered a solid performance despite being shadowed by Broncos CB Pat Surtain II for much of the day, while DeVonta Smith went over 100 receiving yards for the first time this season. The offense went cold for a long stretch in the second half, however, as Denver mounted its comeback. Philly should have better luck against the Giants on Thursday night in Week 6. |

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to have no plans to trade WR A.J. Brown, who has expressed frustration with his role in the team's offense, according to multiple sources.

During the 2024 playoffs, Eagles receiver A.J. Brown turned Inner Excellence into a best seller while reading it on the bench. After Sunday's win over the Buccaneers, he quoted from the best-selling book of all time. Brown tweeted a line from the New Testament: "If you're not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way." Via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the tweet was directed "at someone or someones internally with the Eagles."
Footballguys view: As PFT's Mike Florio noted, Brown was targeted nine times on Sunday, resulting in only two catches for seven yards. Although he had six receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown in a Week 3 rally against the Rams, Brown had one catch (on one target) for eight yards in Week 1 against Dallas and five catches for 27 yards at Kansas City in Week 2. Last December, then-Eagles DE Brandon Graham publicly disclosed the existence of "personal stuff" between Brown and quarterback Jalen Hurts. It's an issue to watch with Brown sitting at WR46 with 8.8 points per game. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown caught two of his nine targets for seven yards in a 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4.

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown posted six receptions for a team-best 109 yards and a touchdown with 10 targets in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Footballguys view: After having thrown Brown's way only once in the first half, Jalen Hurts threw him the ball nine times in the second. With six catches on the day, Brown matched his season reception total while eclipsing his yardage total in one half. Remember: Brown came into the game as WR82 with 9.5 total points over the first two games. His 22.9 points against the Rams were fifth-best among all wideouts through Sunday afternoon's games. It's an encouraging outing, but it's fair to wonder if the passing volume will continue. |

Several unidentified NFL clubs expressed interest in trading for Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown during the offseason but general manager Howie Roseman told teams that Brown was not available, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini.
Footballguys view: It makes sense given the talent that Brown has. Roseman is one of the best in the league, and boy does he love to trade, but moving on from Brown at this time makes little sense. Not using him enough (like in Week 1) doesn't make sense either, so Fantasy GMs are hopeful Brown will do more than the one target, one reception for eight yards stat line he had in the opener. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown had an eight-yard reception on his only target during a 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
Footballguys view: Here's your Thursday night panic stat line. Brown wasn't getting open, although Jalen Hurts wasn't really looking to throw downfield anyway. Brown had hamstring issues last year, and again in camp, so maybe he's not trusting the hamstring fully yet. The Eagles do get three extra days before facing Kansas City, so if Brown doesn't look like his old self in Week 2, it will be time to bench him until he gets right, which is painful for a second round pick. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) fully participated in practice Monday, Sept. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 1.
Footballguys view: Remember, Brown has already confirmed he plans to play against the Cowboys Thursday night. Assuming he isn't added to the injury report today or Wednesday, it seems fantasy investors can roll Brown out without concern. We'll continue watching for more. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) said Sunday, Aug. 31, that he is playing in the Week 1 regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Footballguys view: Brown missed three games last season with a hamstring issue. After he missed time in August with a similar problem, there was speculation surrounding his health heading into the opener. When asked whether he was healthy and ready to go, he would give a promising two-word update: "Hell yeah!" As USA Today noted, Brown is considered the Eagles' number one receiver on the depth chart, but if any absence occurs, Philadelphia has another star wide receiver in Devonta Smith. Still, having both on the field will be important heading into Thursday night's game against the Cowboys. |

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) did not suffer a setback and was held out of practice as a precaution Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Footballguys view: Brown missed multiple games with a hamstring issue last season. While this reassures us to some extent, we still want to see him back to an everyday full practice schedule before the season begins. He is going in the mid second after going in the first round of 2024 drafts. |

Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown (hamstring) is not practicing Sunday, Aug. 3, because of a hamstring issue.
Footballguys view: Brown missed time with a hamstring problem last season, so we will be watching this closely. DeVonta Smith had been sitting with back soreness, but at least he returned today. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts completed 17 of his 22 passes 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interception and ran 11 times for 72 yards and a score in a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. RB Saquon Barkley rushed 25 times for 57 yards and caught six passes for 40 yards. WR DeVonta Smith had four catches for 69 yards and a touchdown, and WR A.J. Brown added three grabs for 43 yards and a score. CB Cooper DeJean returned an interception for a touchdown, and DE Josh Sweat had 2.5 of Phildelphia's six sacks.
Footballguys view: While Hurts, whose cell phone screen saver for the past two years has been a photo of him walking off the Super Bowl LVII field in Arizona surrounded by yellow and red confetti after losing to the Chiefs, was absolutely stellar en route to earning Super Bowl MVP honors, the defense shouldn't be overlooked. The Eagles forced three turnovers and held Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense to 275 yards. "This is the ultimate team game. You can't be great without the greatness of others. Great performance by everybody -- offense, defense, special teams," head coach Nick Sirianni said while holding up the Lombardi Trophy. "We didn't really ever care what anyone thought about how we won, or their opinions. All we want to do is win." |

WR Britain Covey (neck) was limited during practice. The Eagles did not hold a practice Wednesday, so the practice report is an estimation.
Footballguys view: The Eagles have a lot of time before they have to be ready to play the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, so this bye-week injury report isn't determinative. That said, Smith's injury bears watching. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Smith was not listed on Philadelphia's report last week. He was on the field for 83 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps in the NFC Championship Game and caught all four targets for 45 yards. Gainwell, who has to work through the concussion protocol, also bears watching. Goedert, Dickerson, and Jurgens also bear watching. Running back Saquon Barkley and receiver A.J. Brown should be non-issues, but we'll follow up as needed. |

The Philadelphia Eagles pounded the Washington Commanders 55-23 in the NFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 26, advancing to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. QB Jalen Hurts completed 20-of-28 passes for 246 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions while rushing for three scores. RB Saquon Barkley ran 15 times for 118 yards and three scores, as well as a 4-yard catch on two targets, while RB Will Shipley added four runs for 77 yards and a TD. WR A.J. Brown led the way with 96 receiving yards and a score on six grabs and eight targets, while TE Dallas Goedert posted seven receptions for 85 yards on eight targets with two runs for 13 yards. WR DeVonta Smith chipped in with four grabs for 45 yards. LB Zack Baun led the way on defense with game highs of 12 total stops and eight solo tackles, with a fumble recovery and a tackle for loss.
Footballguys view: The Commanders turnovers set up the Eagles with short fields all day and everything clicked for Philadelphia. The offense goes into the Super Bowl on a high note even though Jalen Hurts is nursing some sort of knee injury. Baun's performance on defense was key for a unit that lost his fellow starting linebacker Nakobe Dean to a knee injury in the wild card round. |

The Philadelphia Eagles topped the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game, as QB Jalen Hurts completed 15-of-20 passes for 128 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. Hurts ran seven times for 70 yards and a score, while RB Saquon Barkley rolled up 205 rushing yards and two scores on 26 carries. TE Dallas Goedert led the way with four receptions for a team-high 56 yards, with Barkley adding four grabs for 27 yards. WR DeVonta Smith had four catches for 21 yards, and WR A.J. Brown was limited to two receptions for 14 yards. RB Kenneth Gainwell ran once for 10 yards, and had a 10-yard catch. DL Jalen Carter had five total stops, three solo tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, a pass defensed and a game-high three quarterback hits, while PK Jake Elliott made 3-of-3 field goals with 10 points, although he missed twice on three point-after attempts.
Footballguys view: Barkley and the run blocking were the key to win, with two long touchdown runs keying the offense. Jalen Hurts also had a long touchdown to open the scoring on a day when he wasn't asked to do very much as a passer, but did absorb seven sacks, including one in the end zone. The Eagles will host Washington next week in the NFC title game. They split the season series 1-1, although Jalen Hurts was knocked out of the game they lost very early with a concussion and Kenny Pickett actually kept them in the game until the very end. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts completed 13-of-21 passes for 131 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the NFC wild-card game against the Green Bay Packers, while adding 36 rushing yards. RB Saquon Barkley ran 25 times for 119 yards, while RB Kenneth Gainwell chipped in with 14 yards on three attempts. WR DeVonta Smith had a game-high 55 receiving yards on four receptions, while TE Dallas Goedert had a TD grab, finishing with four catches and 47 yards on a team-best six targets. WR Jahan Dotson made his lone catch count, posting an 11-yasrd reception, and WR A.J. Brown had 10 yards on his lone catch. S Reed Blankenship posted game highs with 11 total stops and seven solo tackles, while LB Nolan Smith had eight total stops, four solo tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and two quarterback hits.
Footballguys view: Barkley only truly got free once, but he ended the run prematurely as it was the game clincher. The offense was in manageable situations all day because of Barkley's productivity, but they couldn't finish drives with accurate downfield passing. Dallas Goedert provided the highlight of the day with a catch and run touchdown with multiple stiff arms to fend off a would-be tackler. The Eagles offense will likely have to be better to win next week, but the Packers defense deserves some credit for their performance in this game. |
