San Francisco 49ers WR Kendrick Bourne could play as soon as Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, as WR Jauan Jennings (shoulder) nursing a shoulder injury sustained in Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Footballguys view: Let's see who practices this week for the 49ers. They are banged up all over the offense and may even be starting Mac Jones at quarterback. There are too many questions to see Bourne as a fantasy asset if he gets out there for the 49ers in Week 2. |

Free-agent WR Kendrick Bourne (Patriots) agreed to a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers Monday, Sept. 8. The deal is worth up to $5 million.
Footballguys view: The move comes a day after the 49ers lost tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Jauan Jennings to injuries in their season opener. Shanahan said both players would get MRIs to determine the extent of their injuries. The Niners were already missing wideouts Brandon Aiyuk and Demarcus Robinson, so it's easy to see why the team was in the market for receiving help. Bourne played for the 49ers from 2017 to 2020, so he has familiarity with head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense that could help him find a role quickly in his second tour of duty with the team. |

Free-agent WR Kendrick Bourne (Patriots) will not sign with a team this week and will take the weekend to decide which team is the best fit for him, according to a source. He met with the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Commanders this week.
Footballguys view: Bourne is going to take a bit more time, and then he will make a decision. No matter where he lands, we're not expecting much from the veteran receiver. |

Free-agent WR Kendrick Bourne (Patriots) is scheduled to meet with the San Francisco 49ers Monday, Sept. 1, and the Washington Commanders Tuesday, Sept. 2, according to a source. Bourne has a framework for a deal in place with both teams.
Footballguys view: Bourne could actually have a fantasy relevant role in San Francisco because of the plethora of wide receiver injuries there, and he spent the first four years of his career with the 49ers, so the familiarity on both sides should make them the favorite to land him. Washington pursuing him is not a great sign for Noah Brown's health or Luke McCaffrey's development. |

Free-agent WR Kendrick Bourne (Patriots) is of high interest to the San Francisco 49ers, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Bourne wanted an opportunity at playing time that wasn't going to happen as the Patriots no.5 receiver. The 49ers would have interest in the veteran because of his familiarity with the scheme and their injuries at the position. He spent five years with the 49ers, and his final season with them (2020) Bourne had 49 receptions for 667 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns in 15 games and five starts. |

New England Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne and WR Kayshon Boutte received work with the first-team offense during offseason practices.
Footballguys view: The Patriots have an interesting group of receivers...for many reasons. Stefon Diggs and Demario Douglas are the top two receivers, and guys like Bourne and Boutte will be working behind them. Both Bourne and Boutte are intriguing dynasty prospects we like in those formats, especially with the expected growth from QB Drake Maye. |

New England Patriots WRs Kendrick Bourne, Kayshon Boutte, Javon Baker, and Ja'Lynn Polk are likely to have a 'spirited competition' for a place on the team's 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN's Mike Reiss, who considers WRs Stefon Diggs (knee), DeMario Douglas, Kyle Williams, and Mack Hollins to be the top-four receivers. Most NFL teams carry five or six wideouts, in which case the group of Bourne, Boutte, Baker, and Polk could be competing for one or two spots.
Footballguys view: The Patriots added Stefon Diggs this offseason, and they drafted Kyle Williams (Washington State) in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. With the receivers already in place (not named Demario Douglas), there's going to be a fierce competition for roster spots. Playing special teams to give added value will help in determining who makes the team. |

New England Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne (knee) will open the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list and miss the first four games.
Footballguys view: Although Bourne had said he thought he would be full go for training camp after suffering a torn ACL in Week 8 last year, it didn't turn out that way. Despite the injury, the Patriots signed Bourne to a new three-year contract in March. They believe he will get healthy and contribute, even if it won't be during the first month of the season. Rookie Ja'Lynn Polk and slot receiver Demario Douglas are the top Patriots wideout in terms of ADP. Polk is WR68, and Douglas is WR70. Bourne, as WR100, is not on anybody's draft radar. |

New England Patriots WR K.J. Osborn could see a bigger role in the offense if WR Kendrick Bourne (knee) is not ready for the start of regular season, in the opinion of PatriotsWire's Jordy McElroy.
Footballguys view: The Patriots passing game is pretty 'meh' but we'll take note here. We have to see what Bourne can do leading up to the regular season first. Next, we'll have to see who wins the starting job at quarterback. Jacoby Brissett is a solid veteran who could start while rookie first-round pick Drake Maye gets his game up to speed. Fantasy GMs have plenty of other options besides banking on the Patriots passing game in 2024. |
