Bills | Record deal for Josh Allen Sun Mar 9, 09:10 PM
Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen has agreed to terms on a six-year, $330 million contract that includes $250 million guaranteed, the largest guarantee in NFL history, according to sources.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen named the 2024 Associated Press Most Valuable Player. He earned a $1.5 million bonus for winning the award.
Footballguys view: Lamar Jackson was the first team all-pro quarterback, but in a small surprise, Allen edged him out for MVP. Some might see this as controversial, but the truth is that both players were deserving of both titles, so there's nothing to nitpick with the split that acknowledges the extremely high level of play both set last season. They'll be the top two quarterbacks off of the board in 2025 fantasy drafts. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen is currently under contract until after the 2028 season, but general manager Brandon Beane is not ruling out the possibility of signing Allen to a contract extension this offseason.
Footballguys view: Allen has a cap hit of $43.2 million in 2025, and there is $96.8 million remaining in dead money. In 2026, Allen's cap hit skyrockets to almost $64 million, so the Bills could extend Allen with the idea of giving him more guaranteed money and dropping his annual cap hit to something a bit more manageable. |

Bills quarterback Josh Allen revealed in his season-ending press conference on Monday that he suffered a new injury that could affect his availability for this week's Pro Bowl Games. Allen had his right hand wrapped during the news conference and said he didn't know if he'll participate later this week. "I got a little banged-up hand right now -- a wrist," Allen said. "So, I got to talk with docs right now and figure it out. But we'll see."
Footballguys view: Allen, who said the injury was brand new, also noted during his news conference that while he doesn't anticipate any offseason procedures, he does plan to take some time just to let his body heal. "Got bumps and bruises from last night, took a few shots, and just trying to make sure that my body's in as good as condition as it can be -- giving maybe a week or two and just kind of getting back to work," Allen said of his plans. We'll watch for more, but assuming all is well, there's no reason Allen won't be viewed as a top-two fantasy asset at his position heading into 2025 drafts. |

The Buffalo Bills suffered a 32-29 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. QB Josh Allen completed 22-of-34 passes for 237 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, while running 11 times for 39 yards. RB James Cook rushed 13 times for 85 yards and two scores, while absorbing all of his three targets for 49 yards. WR Mack Hollins led the way with three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown, while WR Khalil Shakir was good for six receptions for 46 yards on seven targets. WR Amari Cooper resurfaced for four receptions for 33 yards, while TE Dalton Kincaid had two catches for 13 yards, and WR Curtis Samuel had a 4-yard touchdown on his only offensive touch. S Cole Bishop had game highs with 10 total stops and nine solo tackles, while LB Matt Milano had nine total stops, eight solo tackles, a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback hit.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com's Alaina Getzenberg framed it, "A season of surpassed expectations and new heights ultimately had the same familiar ending as a sloppy first half set up a tight final two quarters, and it just wasn't quite enough." The mistake-riddled game continued into the final drive when the Bills offense had an opportunity to put together a game-winning drive. The Bills seemed unprepared for a blitz on fourth-and-5 with two minutes remaining in the game. Kincaid did not come down with a late heave thrown under duress by Allen. The Bills have now lost all four postseason meetings against the Mahomes-led Chiefs team since 2020 and have lost eight straight road playoff games. Allen-led Bills teams are 0-2 in the AFC Championship. Buffalo will now go into the offseason with new questions about what they need to do to get past Kansas City in the postseason. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen completed 16 of his 22 passes for 127 yards, and he rushed 10 times for 20 yards and two touchdowns in a 27-25 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the Divisional Round. RB James Cook rushed 17 times for 67 yards, and RB Ray Davis added four carries for 29 yards and a score. WR Khalil Shakir had six catches for a team-high 67 yards, and TE Dalton Kincaid had one catch for 11 yards. WR Keon Coleman gained five yards on his line reception, and WR Amari Cooper was held without a catch. S Damar Hamlin registered a team-high eight tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack.
Footballguys view: The Bills defense forced three turnovers. Buffalo intercepted Ravens QB Lamar Jackson once, forced a fumble on Jackson, and forced a fumble on TE Mark Andrews. In addition to Allen's TD runs, Davis ran for his first career postseason TD. As effective as Allen was at converting first downs and running the clock, NFL.com's Eric Edholm notes their two long drives in the fourth quarter only netted six points. On fourth-and-goal from the Baltimore 2-yard line with 3-plus minutes left, Bills head coach Sean McDermott opted to kick a field goal, keeping it a one-possession game. Both approaches almost cost the Bills a spot in the AFC Championship Game. Still, Buffalo will travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs on Jan. 26. with a trip to Super Bowl LIX on the line. This marks the fourth time in the last five seasons that the Bills and Chiefs will meet in the playoffs. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen went 20-for-26 for 272 yards and two touchdowns against the Denver Broncos in the Wild Card playoff game. He also rushed for 46 yards on eight carries during the game. RB James Cook rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown on 23 carries, while RB Ty Johnson rushed for 44 yards on nine carries and caught two passes for 26 yards and one touchdown. WR Curtis Samuel caught three passes for 68 yards and one touchdown on three targets, WR Khalil Shakir caught six passes for 61 yards on six targets and TE Dalton Kincaid caught three passes for 47 yards on three targets. WR Amari Cooper was quiet during the game with two catches for eight yards, while WR Keon Coleman caught one pass for five yards during the game.
Footballguys view: The Broncos defense was tough in the first half and held the Bills to 10 points, but the steady gains in the running game wore Denver down and Josh Allen finished two drives with great downfield passing. James Cook got a feature back workload, while Allen was calm and deadly as a passer. The "everybody eats" passing game stayed true to form, with Curtis Samuel and Ty Johnson on the receiving end of the biggest plays of the day. The Bills and Ravens are both peaking going into what should be an epic divisional weekend showdown next week. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen will be the starting quarterback for the Bills in Week 18 but will not see much playing time during the game, according to head coach Sean McDermott.
Footballguys view: The Bills already clinched the No. 2 playoff seed and will play the eliminated New England Patriots on Sunday. In explaining the decision to roll Allen out as the starter, McDermott acknowledged that it was made in part to ensure Allen kept his streak of consecutive starts intact. Allen has started in 120 straight games, the 13th most in NFL history. He follows Tom Brady, who recorded 126 straight starts twice in his career (and 128 straight in another streak). Sunday will count as Allen's 121st consecutive start. Allen and the Bills will play in the wild-card round the following weekend. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen became the first player in the NFL history to record 40 or more touchdowns in five consecutive seasons, finishing with 182 passing yards and two scores and 17 rushing yards and another touchdown.
Footballguys view: Allen was a strong play against a surrendering Jets team even though the Bills went in knowing they had nothing to gain after the Chiefs won on Christmas and clinched the #1 seed. He shouldn't play the whole game next week against a Patriots team that will clinch the #1 pick with a loss. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (elbow, shoulder) practiced in full all week and no longer appears on the injury report for Week 17 against the New York Jets.
Footballguys view: Allen confirmed a report that he fractured his left hand on a fourth-quarter touchdown run in the Week 1 win over the Cardinals. He appeared on the practice report in Weeks 2-11 with a non-throwing hand injury but didn't miss a practice or a game. Allen was back on the report for the first time since Week 12, but injuries to his right shoulder and right elbow did not slow him this week. He was a full participant all week. "Just a little sore from this last game," Allen said. He'll play against the Jets without limitation. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (elbow, shoulder) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 25. The Bills did not hold a practice Wednesday, so this is an estimation.
Footballguys view: Allen banged up his throwing elbow against the Patriots in Week 16. It caused him pain in the game, but we'll see what his practice status is like the rest of the week. A cold and potentially rainy day is on deck at home against the Jets in Week 17. |

Josh Allen reportedly came into Sunday's matchup with the New England Patriots nursing a fractured left hand. The Buffalo Bills quarterback also appeared to hurt his throwing hand in the Week 16 showdown, receiving medical attention on the sidelines in the fourth quarter of the AFC East contest.
Footballguys view: Allen had an erratic evening against the Patriots, completing fewer than 60 percent of his passes while leading Buffalo to a three-point win over New England. He began shaking his right hand immediately after throwing passes late in the game, though the Bills cleared him to return shortly afterward, announcing he suffered a right elbow contusion. Backup Mitchell Trubisky briefly began warming up on the sidelines while Allen received attention, but the latter technically didn't miss a snap. The starter entered the contest as a favorite to win this year's NFL MVP award, coming in with close to 40 total touchdowns and just five interceptions while guiding Buffalo to a 12-3 mark atop the AFC East. We'll be watching for more on his status for Buffalo's Week 17 game against the Jets. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen completed 23 of his 34 passes for a season-high 362 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-42 win over the Detroit Lions in Week 15. He also ran 11 times for 68 yards and two scores.
Footballguys view: Allen took perhaps his strongest step toward an NFL MVP award, but as SI.com suggested, the steps he took immediately following the game had fans concerned. Allen was seen going into the x-ray room, according to Syracuse.com reporter Matt Parrino, something Allen would play off, fortunately, as nothing significant. "Just took a bumpy fall," Allen said after the game. "More peace of mind than anything. Just to get everything checked out. It isn't clear exactly where Allen might have taken that fall, but he was plenty active for four quarters -- which is nothing new. Allen has thrown for 852 yards and seven touchdowns in the Bills' last three games. It doesn't seem his alleged "bumpy fall" will be an issue moving forward, but we'll watch for more as the team begins preparing for their Week 16 meeting with the Patriots. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen became first player in NFL history with three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns in a game, throwing for 342 yards and three scores and running for 82 yards and three scores in a 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen became only the second player since 2006 and the first quarterback in league history to run for a touchdown, throw for a touchdown and catch a touchdown pass in the same game in Week 13 against the San Francisco 49ers.
Footballguys view: Adding to the fun, Allen was credited with a touchdown pass and a touchdown reception on the same play. But somehow, he came away without a reception in the box score. It went like this: Allen took a snap from under center and threw a quick pass in the left flat to Amari Cooper, who, with defenders closing in on him, lateraled the ball backward to Allen, who caught it and then ran around the left edge. He then dove past three defenders with the ball outstretched in his right hand. Allen hit the pylon with the ball for a Bills touchdown. The catch belongs to Cooper for a 2-yard loss. Allen finished the 35-10 win completing 13 of 17 passes for 148 yards with two passing touchdowns and no turnovers. He ran three times for 18 yards and another touchdown. And he caught zero passes for 7 yards and a touchdown. More importantly, Allen currently sits at QB1 on the week with 28.4 fantasy points. |

Josh Allen played through a sore throwing hand, which was examined on the sideline during Sunday's 30-21 win over the Chiefs. He finished 27 of 40 for 262 yards with two touchdowns (one passing and one rushing) and an interception.
Footballguys view: Allen made his case for being a front-runner in the MVP race with his 26-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-2 that practically killed any chance the Chiefs had to win the game. He weaved his way past defenders to get to the end zone, which was the second-longest scramble touchdown in his career. The rushing touchdown was the 58th of Allen's career, moving him into second on the Bills list, one ahead of O.J. Simpson, and seven behind Thurman Thomas. Allen's two-touchdown outing also increased his total to 244, tying Jim Kelly for first in team history. The Bills have a Week 12 bye to get healthy before returning to host San Francisco in Week 13. |

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen went 25-for-39 for 235 yards, three touchdowns and one interception against the Miami Dolphins in Week 9. He also rushed for seven yards on two carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Allen's play was better than his stat line, which was still pretty good. He had one red zone interception that was a drop by Keon Coleman, and another red zone drive stalled out because of penalties. He has taken the Bills offense on his shoulders going into an indoor game at Indianapolis next week. |
