49ers | Injury designation for Marqise Lee Sat May 22, 12:18 PM
Updating a previous report, free agent WR Marqise Lee (undisclosed) was released by the San Francisco 49ers on Friday, May 21, with an injury waiver designation.
Footballguys view: Lee has flashed talent in the league before but it's been some time...mainly due to injury. This latest move with the 49ers was interesting given his skill set and the fit in that offense. However, it looks like the injury bug just hasn't let up on Lee yet. We'll see if some team makes a move to add him but chances are slim. |

49ers | Bennie Fowler joins Niners Fri May 21, 01:50 PM
Free agent WR Bennie Fowler (Saints) on Friday, May 21, signed a one-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers. In a corresponding move, WR Marqise Lee was waived.
Footballguys view: Fowler has bounced around the league and probably won't make the 49ers final roster, but they'll get a good look at him for their emergency list and he's going to be on speed dial for a lot of teams if they get desperate at wide receiver during the season. |

49ers | Marqise Lee to Niners Mon May 17, 11:45 AM
Free-agent WR Marqise Lee (Patriots) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the San Francisco 49ers Monday, May 17.
Footballguys view: Lee hasn't played a full season since 2017, but he did enough in his tryout with the 49ers to stick around a bit longer. If healthy, the veteran could easily make the team with his skill set and starting experience. It looks like his deep dynasty stock has a slight uptick. |

49ers | Marqise Lee at minicamp Fri May 14, 10:12 PM
Free-agent WR Marqise Lee (Patriots) is participating in the San Francisco 49ers rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
Footballguys view: Lee had fine seasons for the Jaguars back in 2016 and 2017, but it's been all downhill for him since then. He's just trying to hang on in the league with this 49ers tryout. |

Patriots | Marqise Lee opting out Sat Aug 1, 11:11 AM
New England Patriots WR Marqise Lee has opted out of the 2020 season, according to a league source.
Footballguys view: Another Patriots player choosing to opt out, although Lee was going to be hard pressed to make the 53-man roster. His one-year contract will toll into 2021. |

Patriots | Pats looking for young WRs to step up Wed Apr 29, 01:31 AM
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick expects his group of wide receivers to be 'very competitive' in 2020. 'I'm sure all our young players will improve in Year 2. Got a first-round pick on N'Keal [Harry] last year. Second-round pick on Mohamed [Sanu] -- that was really off this draft. Obviously have Julian [Edelman] and a number of other young players,' Belichick said. Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry and Mohamed Sanu sit atop the team's depth chart entering the summer. The team also added WR Damiere Byrd during the offseason and return 2019 undrafted free agents Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski in addition to practice-squad receivers Devin Ross and Quincy Adeboyejo. Veteran WR Marqise Lee (Jaguars) also agreed to a one-year deal recently.
Footballguys view: The Patriots have names on the roster, and they've certainly invested premium picks to the position. It's now time for guys like Harry (and others) to elevate their games. We'll have a better idea about the pecking order for the Patriots in training camp. |

Unrestricted free-agent WR Marqise Lee (Jaguars) is signing a one-year deal with the New England Patriots, a source said Thursday, April 23. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Lee needed a fresh start and gets a chance to do that with the Patriots. We'll see if he can work as a No.4 receiver for the team behind Julian Edelman, N'Keal Harry and Mohamed Sanu. |

Jaguars | Marqise Lee let go Mon Apr 20, 02:57 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee was released Monday, April 20, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Lee was a second-round pick out of USC back in 2014 and started off his career strongly with the Jaguars. A torn ACL caused him to miss the entire 2018 season and Lee just played in just six games last year. He's a seasoned veteran who might land as a depth acquisition somewhere when training camp starts. |

Jaguars | Four could be on chopping block Wed Feb 12, 09:44 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee, LB Jake Ryan, DT Marcell Dareus and CB A.J. Bouye could be released for salary cap reasons before the start of the new league year, in the opinion of Jaguars.com's John Oehser.
Footballguys view: Getting rid of Lee would clear $5.25 million in cap space while leaving behind $3.5 million in dead money. Lee only made it through three games in 2019 and has only caught three passes since the 2017 season. Some team would likely give him a 'prove it' deal if/when he becomes available. |

LB Quincy Williams (knee), DT Marcell Dareus (elbow), DL Calais Campbell (foot) and S Ronnie Harrison (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday and were removed from the injury report.
Footballguys view: Ngakoue is a key pass rusher and he is missing a matchup with Laremy Tunsil and an otherwise vulnerable Texans offensive line. Footballguys view: A good sign for Lee here, but it doesn't mean he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. He may have to miss a couple of games to start the year, and Lee is likely fourth on the depth chart when he does return to the field for the Jaguars. |

Jaguars | Marqise Lee unlikely for Week 1? Sat Aug 10, 04:07 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (knee) probably will not be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Doug Marrone.
Footballguys view: Lee was already going to have an uphill battle to have a big role in the pass offense. Dede Westbrook should lead the receivers in targets, but DJ Chark and Chris Conley have a shot at fantasy relevance as downfield receivers. Conley was recruited to the team by Nick Foles, so we're watching him closely. |

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (knee) may have 'quite a battle on his hands to win a significant role (in the offense when he's ready to return from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list)),' in the opinion of 1010XL's Hays Carlyon.
Footballguys view: Lee isn't all the way back and if he does get there, he'll probably be a possession receiver in three-wide sets at most. He's not on redraft radar and can probably be released in shallow dynasty leagues. |
