Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James and the Chargers have reportedly agreed on a contract extension for three years and $75.6 million on Tuesday, May 26.

After a complaint on May 23 and a subsequent investigation, Packers RB Josh Jacobs was arrested this morning and booked into Brown County Jail on five charges: battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.
Footballguys view: While it's far too early to assess the fallout, we wanted to get it on your radar. These are serious charges -- but at this point, they're just that, and Jacobs, through his attorney, "vehemently denies the allegations." The Packers offered the following comment: "We are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs. As it is an ongoing legal situation, we will withhold further comment." The NFL is also aware. We'll obviously be following up as developments warrant, but if you're in the middle of a draft, avoiding the situation until we get more information isn't a horrible idea.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Parker Washington could be in line for a contract extension similar to what Green Bay Packers WR Jayden Reed received and what Seattle Seahawks WR Rashid Shaheed received in free agency, in the opinion of Sports Illustrated's John Shipley on Tuesday, May 26.

Seattle Seahawks WR Tory Horton (shin/groin) has reportedly received some good news medically that should allow him to accelerate his process for getting back, with 'a chance he can do some stuff toward the end of spring', according to head coach Mike Macdonald on Tuesday, May 26.

The Arizona Cardinals have received trade calls about DE Josh Sweat, according to a source on Tuesday, May 26.

Cleveland Browns CB DeCarlos Nicholson was waived by the Browns with a waived-injured designation, according to a source on Tuesday, May 26.
Link to storyHouston Texans WR Nico Collins and the Texans have agreed to an adjusted contract that guarantees his salary in 2027 and includes a $9 million cash increase in 2026 and an $8 million cash increase in 2027, a source told KPRC.com's Aaron Wilson.
Footballguys view: Collins is 10th among receivers in receiving yards (2,123), fourth in receiving yards per game (78.4), and tied for 14th in touchdowns (13) since 2024. He heads into 2026 being drafted as WR9 -- mirroring his Footballguys 2026 Draft projection -- with the 24th pick overall. Working in a run-heavy offense, with a still-unproven quarterback in C.J. Stroud, and for a team with the best defense in the NFL hasn't been an issue. And Stroud's willingness to push the ball downfield maximizes Collins profile, giving him a low-end WR1 floor and an explosive weekly ceiling on fewer targets.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced on Tuesday, May 26, that the team will have joint practices in the preseason with the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars.
Link to storyFree agent CB Tyron Herring (Packers) signed with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, May 26. No terms of the deal were disclosed.
Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving (shoulder) is expected to be back 'sometime during the Summer or Fall,' according to head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: "We expect him sometime back in the summer or fall, and we'll look forward to him when he gets back," Bucs head coach Todd Bowles said after the session. As PFT suggested, that Bowles mentioned the fall when discussing Irving's return is a bit of an eyebrow raiser. After a 1,000-yard rookie season, Irving rushed for 588 yards with one touchdown and caught 30 passes for 277 yards with three TDs last season. There's still time before the season starts, but this is worth watching. Kenneth Gainwell and Sean Tucker are the other primary backs on the roster.
Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was at OTAs on Tuesday, May 26, after missing sessions with the team the week prior.
Footballguys view: Tuesday's workout is the team's fourth of nine scheduled OTAs this year. The sessions are all voluntary, but as Profootballtalk.com notes, Jackson has a $750,000 bonus tied to his attendance at 80 percent of the team's offseason program. Jackson did not attend enough sessions to qualify for that bonus for the last two years. Jackson was working in a familiar offense in those seasons, but the Ravens have a new offensive coordinator in Declan Doyle in Minter's first season in the top job for Baltimore.

Las Vegas Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty will be a player that rarely leaves the field, according to head coach Klint Kubiak. 'We want to put a lot of pressure on Ashton,' Kubiak said. 'I don't know the play snap percentage, but you look at Christian McCaffrey, his play snap percentage is high. So, those great backs, they don't want to come off the field.'
Footballguys view: Even after Las Vegas drafted former Arkansas RB Mike Washington Jr. in the fourth round, creating the assumption he would cut into Jeanty's workload, Kubiak preached the opposite after the team's second OTA practice last Wednesday. He understands that if his offense is going to function properly, it will need more out of Jeanty after he led all rookies in rushing yards (975) and yards from scrimmage (1,321). With a better scheme in place, improvement on the offensive line, and a year of experience, Jeanty, who is being drafted as RB7, is in a position to break out.
Free-agent DE Janarius Robinson (Chiefs) worked out for the Cleveland Browns Tuesday, May 26.

Tennessee Titans WR Wan'Dale Robinson said he has been able to work on his chemistry with QB Cam Ward this offseason and has been talking with him about how to run certain routes.
Footballguys view: As USA Today's Serena Burks suggests, Robinson taking the initiative to get the communication with Ward rolling will only make that bond stronger. Between Robinson, Carnell Tate, and returning veteran Calvin Ridley, plus Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike, Ward definitely has weapons at his disposal in 2026. Now, the Titans just have to figure out how to make the best use of all of the talent they have available. But his experience playing in OC Brian Daboll's offense gives Robinson a head start.
Arizona Cardinals DE Josh Sweat is reportedly 'not particularly happy' in Arizona as a reason for his absence from OTAs without being hurt, in the opinion of AZCardinals.com's Kyle Odegard on Monday, May 25.

Carolina Panthers assistant coaches Mike Bercovici and Peter Hansen were given new job titles. Bercovici is now the offensive passing game coordinator, while Hansen is now the assistant defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, according to a source on Monday, May 25.

Houston Texans TE Cade Stover (hernia, knee) has recovered from offseason hernia surgery and is participating in offseason workouts, according to sources. He was also dealing with partially torn medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligaments after the season but did not need surgery on those injuries.
Footballguys view: Stover is currently cross-training as a blocking fullback in offensive coordinator Nick Caley's system while continuing to play tight end. The Texans also have Dalton Schultz, who caught a team-high and career-high 82 passes, second-round pick Marlin Klein, former New Orleans Saints starter Foster Moreau, and Brevin Jordan, who's making a sound recovery from a torn patellar tendon that sidelined him for the entire season one year after tearing his ACL. The battle for playing time, especially for the second and third tight end positions on the depth chart, is where Stover will compete this summer.
Free-agent WR DeAndre Hopkins (Ravens) is unlikely to re-sign with the Baltimore Ravens this offseason after the team drafted WR Ja'Kobi Lane and WR Elijah Sarratt, in the opinion of RavensWire's Glenn Erby.
Footballguys view: Given the circumstances, it's worth noting that Hopkins commented on Joe Burrow and the Bengals recently, and Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox recently argued that it's the one move the Bengals must still make this offseason. According to Knox, "Wide receiver isn't a glaring need for Cincinnati . . . However, the Bengals lack dependable depth behind those three, and Hopkins looms as a logical addition." As USA Today's Chris Roling suggests, such a move wouldn't make or break the offseason for the Bengals, but at this point, it wouldn't be a shocker, either.

Cleveland Browns DT Mason Graham said he dealt with a broken rib during the end of the 2025 season.
Link to storyUpdating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice could face a suspension of up to four games for violating the personal conduct policy. The policy has a provision that applies to violations of the law regarding 'substances of abuse,' which includes marijuana. It allows the commissioner to suspend the player for up to four games.
Footballguys view: As PFT's Mike Florio suggests, the NFL may decide that 30 days in jail is enough. Rice will miss the most important part of the offseason program. He'll miss the mandatory minicamp and likely be fined upwards of $100,000. He won't be able to rehab his recent knee surgery. Or the league may decide that Rice caught a break with last year's six-game suspension, given the behavior that caused it. For now, the league is saying nothing. In time, it will become clear whether the league does or doesn't plan to sideline Rice to start the 2026 season. Stay tuned.

New York Jets RB Breece Hall will be an important part of what the Jets do on offense, according to offensive coordinator Frank Reich. 'Listen, it's certainly going to be no secret or surprise to say that we're going to want to run the football, and so we'll continue to emphasize that,' Reich said. 'These guys ran the ball pretty well last year, so we'll build on that.'
Footballguys view: While Hall has never finished better than 13th in rushing yards in a season, he hasn't been the issue. The limited touches working in an offense, throwing the ball in catch-up mode, were more responsible. But we've seen Hall used in the passing game. He was a true dual threat in 2023 (he was RB2 overall that season) and 2024, when he produced a combined 133 receptions. The Jets should get improved quarterback play. Geno Smith is an upgrade over Justin Fields, and additions to the receiving corps should create space for Hall in the run game.
New York Jets QB Cade Klubnik 'looked good' at rookie minicamp, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com, and Klubnik remains in the mix for the backup quarterback job as OTAs begin.
Footballguys view: According to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini, the Jets haven't signed a veteran because they want to see what Klubnik can do over the next month. That goes for Brady Cook and Bailey Zappe, too, but it's really about Klubnik. And while Klubnik looked good, that was against mostly undrafted free agents and tryout players. The speed will intensify at OTAs, which should give the coaches a better idea of his ability to absorb and execute the system. The Jets have been in contact with a number of free agents, most notably Russell Wilson, in case the need for a veteran arises.
Arizona Cardinals WR Marvin Harrison Jr. is heading into Year 3 after two mostly underwhelming seasons. He jelled nicely with QB Jacoby Brissett, who could be the starting quarterback in 2025, but it's possible he has to work with journeyman QB Gardner Minshew or rookie QB Carson Beck, which could stunt his growth.
Footballguys view: The relative uncertainty at the quarterback position could limit how quickly Harrison builds chemistry with a quarterback in this new system. But as NFL.com's Nick Shook suggests, the 23-year-old isn't suddenly devoid of talent. After two years spent under defensive-minded coach Jonathan Gannon, the difference might come down to who is designing the offense. This year, it will be the offensive-minded Mike LaFleur. Harrison will need to capitalize before long, though, or we could start looking at him as a bust.

Cincinnati Bengals DE Myles Murphy did not have his fifth-year option picked up, so he enters the final season of his rookie contract. He didn't see any starts until the 2025 season, when he made 10 starts. He was good for a career-high 52 tackles with 5.5 sacks and six tackles for loss. Heading into 2026, he could have a big season, as he works for a future contract shot with either the Bengals or another organization.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints WR Bryce Lance is viewed as a tall, developmental player who hasn't had experience competing at the highest level. 'He didn't play at a Power 4 conference, so there's probably some development that we need to do there,' general manager Mickey Loomis said.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints WR Barion Brown made some nice catches at rookie minicamp, and head coach Kellen Moore said that the team views him as more of just a kick-return specialist. 'He's had a lot of success at receiver and so we certainly see that vision for him in addition to the return game that obviously everyone knows,' Moore said.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins QB Malik Willis has been told to focus on learning the offensive system and can work on becoming a team leader later, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins GM has said that they gave Willis a three-year deal because they want to build a team around him. This is consistent with that approach- namely a long term commitment to Willis, as opposed to a one-year "prove it" evaluation timeframe. Willis has more value in superflex dynasty leagues than the fantasy community is assigning to him.
Carolina Panthers WRs Xavier Legette, John Metchie and Chris Brazzell II may compete for the No. 3 receiver job during the offseason workouts and training camp, in the opinion of PanthersWire's Anthony Rizzuti.
Footballguys view: The Panthers pass offense isn't at the level where it can support three fantasy relevant wide receivers, but if Legette starts to show first round pick promise or Brazzell is ready for prime time as a third round rookie, it will help Bryce Young and really the whole offense take a step forward. Legette has the size and speed to be a run after catch threat, but hasn't shown the ability to win downfield. Brazzell is a long, fast, flexible receiver in the mold of George Pickens, who could make a splash right away given the quality of Young's deep ball.
New Orleans Saints DB Lorenzo Styles Jr. (shoulder) continues to rehab his shoulder injury, and he will not see the field until training camp. He could be a candidate to replace departed nickel CB Alontae Taylor, and he might also have a spot on special teams. 'Oftentimes for guys on [Day 3], the path to the roster is special teams,' general manager Mickey Loomis said. 'So, it's either they have experience in their college career or they have the traits that we think are necessary to become special teams players.'
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints OG Jeremiah Wright is unlikely to supplant OG David Edwards, who was signed to be the starting left guard. General manager Mickey Loomis said he would be doing the rookie 'a disservice' to throw more than one position at him. He will take all of his snaps at guard. 'Big. People mover. He's going to come in and immediately add size and power to our offensive line and [we'll] see how he develops,' Loomis said. His best opportunity to get on the field would be beating out OG Cesar Ruiz at right guard.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints TE Oscar Delp could be the third tight end behind starting TE Juwan Johnson and veteran addition TE Noah Fant, with TE/QB Taysom Hill unsigned, and journeyman TE Foster Moreau gone. 'Obviously he has athleticism. We saw that on film. The physicality I think he plays with will show up as we progress, particularly in pads,' head coach Kellen Moore said. 'That'll be a big part of this thing because from a tight end perspective, that's a deep group now, which is a positive.'

New Orleans Saints DT Christen Miller (undisclosed) did not see the field during rookie minicamp, as he has been dealing with an undisclosed injury. When he is healthy, his versatility is expected to get him on the field quickly. 'Big, powerful young man and adds to a great room, so we're excited to get him,' general manager Mickey Loomis said.
Link to storyNew Orleans Saints WR Jordyn Tyson was one of several players on a 'maintenance plan' to build them back up after significant time out of football, beat writer Katherine Terrell said. 'I know my body pretty well, I've endured a couple of injuries so I kind of know, but I'm just trying to learn as much as possible and do as much as possible,' Tyson said. When he was on the field, he moved around, taking snaps at all three receiver positions.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers S Derwin James is entering the final year of a four-year, $76.5 million contract extension signed in 2022. He is a candidate for an extension, and general manager Joe Hortiz is hopeful James will finish his career in L.A. 'He's such a special, special leader and person,' Hortiz said. 'Like Justin (Herbert), the talent is real and it's there, but the leader and motivator and energy he gives to everybody within the organization, throughout the entire building, it's so unique. One of the best I've ever been around in terms of leadership, talent and character.'

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DL Rueben Bain Jr. has the trust of outside linebackers coach and run-game coordinator David Foote, who is predicting big things for the rookie. 'Off the film, if you had to bet, he's going to be a star,' Foote said. 'The way he plays the game, he's explosive, plays with great leverage and it's hard to block those guys.'
Link to storyBaltimore Ravens OG Vega Ioane has impressive head coach Jesse Minter with his physical ability, work habits and ability to absorb information quickly. 'Vega [Ioane]'s a beast. He's picked up on everything probably way faster than I would expect a rookie to at any position, I would say,' Minter said. 'And man, he has a really bright future, but the best thing about him is just how hard he works and how serious he takes his craft. And so, every day he does something, he comes back, it's a little bit better the next day.'
Link to storySan Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk might show up to organized team activities (OTAs), which would force the team to take him off of the reserve/did not report (R/DNR) list.
Footballguys view: There have been a lot of rumors about Aiyuk being out of shape and not committed to playing, but he can put those to rest by showing up for OTAs and being in football shape. If the 49ers trade or release Aiyuk, he is highly likely to end up reunited with his college teammate Jayden Daniels in Washington.

Chicago Bears DE Dayo Odeyingbo (Achilles) is expected to be ready for training camp after being limited to eight games due to an Achilles' rupture after signing a three-year, $48 million deal in March 2025. He will 'definitely be in the mix' at defensive end when training camp starts, defensive coordinator Dennis Allen said.
Link to storyDayo Odeyingbo player page
Chicago Bears DE Montez Sweat had a team-high 10 sacks last season, while leading the team with 44 pressures. The team struggled in pass rush, but Sweat certainly did his part. However, he had 27 more pressures than the next best Chicago player, DT Gervon Dexter Sr. That difference of 27 was the fourth largest between a team's top two pressure generators last season.
Link to storyMontez Sweat player page
Chicago Bears DT Jordan van den Berg was selected 213th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, in hopes of helping the team improve its pass rush. The Bears were 31st in the NFL in pass-rush win rate (29%) and 29th in pressure percentage (28%).
Link to storyDallas Cowboys OT Tyler Guyton (ankle), who suffered a bone fracture and high-ankle sprain last season, costing him seven games, is expected to be ready to go for Week 1. He is likely to be slotted in as the starting left tackle.
Footballguys view: If he sticks at left tackle, that will move Tyler Smith back to his preferred position of left guard. The Cowboys offensive line is young and full of people who can move defenders. If they can develop and have better injury luck than last year, the team could contend to win their division and be a tough out in the playoffs.
Dallas Cowboys OG Tyler Smith is expected to start on the left side of the offensive line in 2026, but it's uncertain if it will be at guard or tackle. In the final three games of 2025, he moved to left tackle, although his preferred spot is guard. 'We had great conversations about it,' Smith said. 'I have an understanding of what it is. That's the most I can ask for is to just have that understanding early on. Obviously, I've got the utmost faith that we're going to go out there and we're going to do what we're going to do.'
Link to storyNew York Giants CB Deonte Banks gives up big plays, and he was flagged for many costly penalties. In addition, he continued to make inexcusable mistakes like not turning his head toward the ball. However, the team still has a little faith in him, and he could benefit from the aggressive style of defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson. He did not have his option year exercised, however, although he is valuable as a returner. However, the team might want him to be more of a return specialist if he is going to stick around.
Link to storyNew York Giants S Tyler Nubin had a 16.9 percent missed tackle rate in 2025, and he did not record an interception. Additions of CB Ar'Darius Washington and CB Jason Pinnock could mean a shift in Nubin's workload, or his roster status might even be in jeopardy. He split reps with Washington in organized team activities (OTAs).
