Jaguars | Parker Washington to have bigger role Tue Oct 29, 11:57 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Parker Washington will have a bigger role in the offense after WR Christian Kirk (collarbone) was lost for the season. 'He did some great things [Sunday],' Pederson said. '[He's] a player that has proven that he can do it so we have a lot of confidence moving forward that he can fill that role.'
Footballguys view: A sixth-round draft pick out of Penn State in 2023, Washington has 22 catches for 199 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons. He also returned a punt 96 yards for a touchdown against New England last week and returned a kickoff 73 yards to set up a score in the preseason. Remember: A Kirk in 2023 set the offense back. Washington wasn't quite ready to fill the void as a rookie. He might be now, and fantasy managers should consider adding Trevor Lawrence, who is playing well despite the team's struggles. Lawrence has completed 72 percent of his passes over the last four weeks for 1,106 yards, with seven TD passes and three INTs. |

Jaguars | Brian Thomas Jr. not ruled out yet Tue Oct 29, 01:00 AM
Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. (chest) is considered day-to-day because of a contusion on the right side of his chest and has a chance to play in Week 9, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Footballguys view: Thomas, who underwent an MRI on Monday morning that was negative for a broken rib, said he was hurt when he landed on his knee going for a 14-yard TD reception from Lawrence in the third period. "When the soreness goes down I'll be back out there as soon as possible," Thomas said. "I feel it. It's sore." Thomas caught three passes for 60 yards and scored his fifth touchdown of the season before leaving Sunday. He has 33 receptions for 573 yards to lead the team in all three categories. The Jaguars play the Eagles this week. We'll monitor Thomas' status in practice as the week progresses. |
Jaguars | Christian Kirk undergoes surgery Tue Oct 29, 01:00 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Christian Kirk (collarbone) underwent surgery on his broken collarbone Monday, Oct. 28, and will miss the rest of the 2024 season.
Footballguys view: Coach Doug Pederson confirmed Monday that Kirk, who has caught 168 passes for 2,264 yards and 12 touchdowns in 37 games for the Jaguars, will be out for the season with a broken collarbone. "He's done ... unfortunate," Pederson said in announcing that Kirk will miss a big chunk of games for the second season in a row. Kirk missed five games last season with an abdominal injury. He played all 17 games during his first season with the Jags in 2022, catching 84 passes for 1,108 yards and eight TDs, all personal highs for him. Parker Washington moves into Kirk's spot in the receiving rotation going forward. |

Jaguars | Brian Thomas Jr. week-to-week Mon Oct 28, 01:01 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. (chest/ribs) is undergoing further testing but could miss 2-4 weeks, according to sources Monday, Oct. 28.
Footballguys view: ESPN's Jeremy Fowler acknowledged that scans today will determine the full extent and next steps. Thomas is also getting a second opinion, so we'll get a better idea of which end of that timeline seems more likely as further details come to light. Thomas is tied for sixth in the NFL with 573 receiving yards. Remember, the Jaguars lost Christian Kirk to a season-ending broken collarbone Sunday. Gabe Davis (shoulder) was also injured. Parker Washington will fill Kirk's role in this offense. Tim Jones replaced Thomas against the Packers, and he's a steep downgrade. Expect more two-TE sets, with Evan Engram and Brenton Strange playing more prominent roles as receivers in the short term. |
Jaguars | Brian Thomas Jr. having MRI Mon Oct 28, 08:16 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. (ribs) will have an MRI on his ribs injury to determine his status for next week.
Footballguys view: Thomas is having an excellent season in an otherwise ugly Jaguars passing game. He leads the team with 33 catches, 573 yards and five touchdowns. The Jaguars took him with the 23rd overall pick in this year's draft and he has more than lived up to expectations. The Jaguars' No. 2 receiver, Christian Kirk, has been lost for the season with a fractured collarbone. If Thomas misses any time, the Jaguars will be scrambling to find anyone to catch Trevor Lawrence's passes. The Jagauars play at Philadelphia in Week 9. |
Jaguars | Christian Kirk Reportedly Has A Season-Ending Broken Collarbone Sun Oct 27, 09:57 PM
Following up on the previous item, the Jaguars have not received good news on receiver Christian Kirk, who had to exit Sunday's eventual loss to the Packers due to injury in the fourth quarter. According to multiple reports, Kirk suffered a fractured collarbone and is out for the rest of the season.
Footballguys view: Kirk suffered the injury on a deep pass over the middle. He came down hard on his side. Kirk, 27, will finish the 2024 season with 27 catches for 379 yards with one touchdown. Now at 2-6, the Jaguars will face the Eagles in Week 9. |

Jaguars | Gabe Davis Sidelined By Shoulder Injury Sun Oct 27, 08:41 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis came off the field during the second quarter with a shoulder injury and was designated as questionable to return against the Green Bay Packers.
Footballguys view: Davis was injured after the team's fourth drive of the game. Despite the questionable designation, Davis never returned. He entered Sunday's game with a knee injury and practiced limited but was removed from the injury report on Friday. We'll follow up on Davis as needed in coming days. The Jaguars play in Philadelphia this coming Sunday. |

Jaguars | Brian Thomas Jr. Missed Time With A Chest Injury Sun Oct 27, 08:28 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (chest) left Sunday's loss to the Packers and did not return.
Footballguys view: Despite leaving early, Thomas scored a touchdown for Jacksonville in the third quarter and led all Jaguars receivers with three catches for 60 yards against Green Bay. Thomas has been one of the best players offensively for Jacksonville this season, entering the game with 513 yards on 30 receptions and becoming a matchup nightmare for opposing defenders. The team hasn't commented on the injury. Jacksonville plays the Eagles in Philadelphia on Sunday. We'll have more on Thomas when further details come to light. |

Jaguars | Christian Kirk Suffers Apparent Shoulder Injury Sun Oct 27, 08:14 PM
Christian Kirk may have gone from the trading block to the injury list on one play Sunday. Kirk seemingly dislocated his left shoulder while trying to catch a deep pass in the fourth quarter of a 30-27 loss to Green Bay.
Footballguys view: Kirk was one of six Jaguars -- including all three starting wide receivers -- injured in the game. Gabe Davis also hurt a shoulder, and rookie Brian Thomas Jr. left the game late with a chest injury. Kirk's injury appears to be the most serious. He was wearing a sling as he left the locker room. It might also keep him in Jacksonville. The seventh-year veteran has one year remaining on a four-year, $72 million contract and has been the subject of trade rumors for weeks. Head coach Doug Pederson provided no update on the short-term prognoses for Kirk or any of the others. Jacksonville plays the Eagles in Week 9. |

Link to storyJaguars | Travis Etienne a game-time call Fri Oct 25, 10:52 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (hamstring) will be a game-time decision in Week 8.
Footballguys view: Sounds like you can't trust any of the Jaguars running backs for Week 8. If Etienne is inactive, then Tank Bigsby and D'Ernest Johnson will split the backfield, with Johnson the passing down back. The passing down back could get more work than the early down back if the Packers control this game, so this backfield is as clear as mud. |

Jaguars | Travis Etienne day-to-day Wed Oct 23, 11:14 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (hamstring) is day-to-day, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Footballguys view: Etienne will do individual work in practice Wednesday, Oct. 23, and work with trainers after. He's still the starter, but RB Tank Bigsby is doing great things and clearly has become a fantasy darling. If Etienne has to miss another game, Bigsby could post RB2 numbers against the Packers on Sunday. |

Jaguars | Foyesade Oluokun's window opens Tue Oct 22, 12:17 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars LB Foyesade Oluokun (foot) had his 21-day practice window opened Tuesday, Oct. 22.
Footballguys view: Oluokun, one of this year's most highly-drafted IDP assets, has been out since Week 3 with a foot injury. He had 22 tackles and a sack in the first three games of the year, and his return would be a welcome development for the Jaguars and fantasy investors alike. |

Link to storyJaguars | Travis Etienne to remain the starter Mon Oct 21, 12:37 AM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (hamstring) will remain the starting running back ahead of RB Tank Bigsby, according to head coach Doug Pederson.
Footballguys view: With Etienne watching from the sidelines in London, Bigsby ran 26 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns to help the Jaguars to a 32-16 win over New England. Still, Pederson said that neither Sunday's performance nor Bigsby's work in the first six weeks of the season would lead to a change on the running back depth chart. Maybe so. But even assuming Etienne remains the starter, it's hard to imagine a healthy Bigsby isn't a major factor here going forward. |

Jaguars | Brian Thomas finds end zone Sun Oct 20, 12:36 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr. caught five passes for 89 yards and one touchdown against the New England Patriots in Week 7. He was targets five times during the game.
Footballguys view: Thomas had a down week with a few drops last week when Evan Engram returned, but he was back in his rightful place as the most productive target for Trevor Lawrence this week. That he was a great play in a week when Lawrence threw only 20 times is a great sign for Thomas's value going forward. |
Jaguars | D'Ernest Johnson productive in Week 7 Sun Oct 20, 12:31 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB D'Ernest Johnson rushed for 38 yards on nine carries against the New England Patriots in Week 7. He also caught three passes for 32 yards during the game.
Footballguys view: Johnson was good enough if you played him as a what-the-heck flex in PPR leagues, but the Jaguars controlling the game in the second half capped his workload and put more on the plate of Tank Bigsby. If Travis Etienne can't go next week, Johnson could have a brighter outlook in a game against the Packers that should require more passing to win. |

Jaguars | Two touchdowns for Tank Bigsby Sun Oct 20, 12:30 PM
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries against the New England Patriots in Week 7.
Footballguys view: Bigsby got a lot of carries down the stretch to close the game and looked every bit the part of an early down grinder in the first half. Even if Travis Etienne is ready to play next week, Bigsby deserves more work going forward. |
