New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (groin) did not take part in practice once again on Friday, Dec. 27, and was ruled out for Week 17.
Footballguys view: Head coach Darren Rizzi told reporters on Thursday that Kamara is in "good spirits" and in the rehab process. The veteran running back has a good chance to play against the Bucs in the finale, but it will be Kendre Miller, Jordan Mims, and Jamaal Williams handling the backfield duties against the Raiders this weekend. |

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (groin) is expected to be a 'later in the week' decision as to whether he will suit up or not in Week 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders, according to interim head coach Darren Rizzi on Tuesday, Dec. 24.
Footballguys view: According to CBSSports.com, Rizzi said Kamara met with him earlier Tuesday and told the coach he wants to suit up Sunday. While Kamara was sidelined for his first game of the season in Monday's 34-0 loss to the Packers, Kendre Miller stepped in as New Orleans' lead back but was limited to 31 total yards on 10 touches (eight carries, two receptions) in a game that didn't allow the Saints to lean into the run. We'll watch for more on Kamara in coming days. |

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara's (groin) groin injury is more serious than originally believed, and he appears unlikely will be available for the Week 16 game, according to interim head coach Darren Rizzi.
Footballguys view: Kendre Miller is going to be the lead back for the Saints while Kamara is out of action. Behind him, the Saints have a combination of Jamaal Williams and Clyde Edwards-Helaire (when he's activated from the PS). |

Interim coach Darren Rizzi told reporters Monday that Alvin Kamara's injury is a groin abductor situation. Kamara told Rizzi the injury felt minor, and he noticed it on his touchdown catch, but the veteran RB will continue to go through tests. Asked specifically if the injury was minor, Rizzi said he wouldn't make a medical declaration.
Footballguys view: Kamara made the most spectacular touchdown catch of Week 15 with a ridiculous one-handed grab, but shortly after, Kamara was out of the game and in the locker room with a groin strain. He was questionable to return, but never did. Kamara is considered day-to-day moving forward, according to NewOrleans. Football's Nick Underwood, pending MRI results. Kendre Miller would likely play a lead role against the Packers on Monday Night Football in Week 16. |

Updating a previous report, New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (groin) felt something pull in his groin area on his miraculous one-handed touchdown reception in the Week 15 game against the Washington Commanders, and he will go for imaging, interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Sunday, Dec. 15.
Footballguys view: Kamara finished with 12 rushing yards on five carries, four catches for 58 yards, and the touchdown. Kendre Miller flashed some big play ability in Kamara's absence, rushing for 47 yards on eight carries in the fourth quarter alone. We'll have more information after Monday's test results are announced. |

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (undisclosed) left the Week 15 game early because of an undisclosed injury.
Footballguys view: It's a groin injury for Kamara. The Saints almost won to stay alive in the playoff race, but the loss all but officially ends their season. You have to wonder if that will figure into the calculus of whether to play Kamara next week and for the rest of the season. Kendre Miller is the backup and should be a hot waiver wire pickup. The Saints travel to Green Bay next week as we'll await details on the nature and severity of Kamara's injury. |

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara became the franchise's all-time leader in rushing yards during a 20-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 10, finishing with 17 carries for 55 yards and catching five passes for 54 yards.
Footballguys view: According to ESPN's Marc Raimondi, the prevailing topic among Falcons defenders this past week was stopping Kamara. That was a goal that did not pan out. Kamara had 109 yards from scrimmage. More importantly, he continued to get the volume that has him sitting at RB2 on the season (pending Sunday night and Monday night's outcomes). Kamara's 20.7 points per game are mainly due to the veteran averaging better than 21 touches per game. He's on pace to finish the season with 368 touches. For perspective, San Francisco's Christian McCaffrey led the NFL in touches last season with 339. |

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara rushed 29 times for a game-best 155 yards in Week 9 against the Carolina Panthers, and he added team highs with six receptions, 60 yards and nine targets. The total scrimmage yards were the most of his career, however.
Footballguys view: Kamara took a huge workload on after Chris Olave went down, but it wasn't enough to get the Saints a win. He has been about as good as you could ask for on a team that is headed for a top 10 draft pick, but you wonder how long he'll hold up under this kind of punishment. Next week, Kamara will face the rival Falcons in the Superdome. |
