Welcome to Week 7 of the 2023 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Rams and 49ers Backfields
- Second-Half Surge (see below)
- Dynasty Buy, Sell, or Hold?
- What's More Likely?
Let's roll.
Second-Half Surge
Matt Waldman: Name two players you believe are about to go nuclear in the second half of the fantasy season. Or to tone down the clickbait, at least have a notable surge in production.
Give us your candidates.
Jeff Haseley: A hamstring injury kept Diontae Johnson shelved in the first quarter of the season, but if he comes back with a positive outcome, his return could help catapult the Steelers offense that won seven of their last nine games in 2022. Losing a player with 147 targets a year ago will put a damper on any offense. Getting Johnson back healthy and productive could do wonders for Pittsburgh.
I foresee the Bills starting to utilize their top rookie pick, Dalton Kincaid, more in the second half of the season. He has not dipped below a 50% snap rate in any game he played this year. The Bills welcome the opportunity to use a 12-personnel offense, and Kincaid allows them to do that. Once he returns from his concussion - hopefully this week - I believe the Bills will start to feature him more often, designing plays meant for him. He has the skill and talent to have similar results to what we are seeing from Sam LaPorta.
