Lions | Isaac TeSlaa under contract Tue May 20, 05:12 PM
Detroit Lions third-round draft choice WR Isaac TeSlaa (Arkansas) signed his four-year rookie contract worth a reported $6.6 million - including a signing bonus of $1.48 million - on Tuesday, May 20.
Footballguys view: TeSlaa brings a unique size/speed combination to Detroit. His physical skills will make him a big-play threat from the get-go. Because of that, the Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide 3.0 contends TeSlaa has an immediate "better in best ball" profile. For long-term investors, TeSlaa is WR16 on the Footballguys 2025 Rookie Rankings. |
Pittsburgh Steelers OG Lecitus Smith was waived on Tuesday, May 20.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) told reporters on Tuesday, May 20, that he needed 'a good five months of real recovery and rehab' before the shoulder injury that ended his 2024 season felt right.
Footballguys view: The consensus WR1 heading into 2024, Lamb went from averaging an NFL-best 23.8 fantasy points per game in 2023 to 17.6 points per game this past season. That was more due to QB issues than his shoulder. Lamb averaged 18.5 fantasy points in eight games with a healthy Dak Prescott last season. He was the WR4 during that time. In his final seven games, all played without Prescot, Lamb averaged 16.5 points. He dropped to WR11 before missing the final two games due to the shoulder. Lamb is currently the fifth player off the board on Underdog as the WR3. |

Footballguys view: The Titans begin Phase 3 of the offseason next week when the offense will compete against the defense in practices for the first time. The team is currently in Phase 2, which wraps up on Thursday. Will the team start ramping up Ward's workload then? We'll see. Either way, it's all but a foregone conclusion that Ward will be the Week 1 starter. The rookie is QB26 on the current Footballguys Projections. |

Carolina Panthers WR Muhsin Muhammad III (undisclosed) was waived with an injury designation on Tuesday, May 20. Free-agent WR T.J. Luther (Panthers) signed an undisclosed contract to replace him on the roster.

Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR George Pickens is 'a guy (who is) maturing,' according to head coach Brian Schottenheimer.
Footballguys view: Pickens has said all the right things since he arrived in Dallas. Most recently, the newcomer told reporters he would accept any role that came his way. He also claims to pay little attention to labeling receivers as Nos. 1a and 1b or No. 2. He realizes, however, that CeeDee Lamb put up more than 100 catches in three straight seasons and has four straight 1,000-yard seasons. Still, Pickens gives the Cowboys the boundary X they've been missing -- and, as Athlon's Landon Holifield suggests, "balances Lamb's versatility inside and out." While Dallas hasn't had a wide receiver other than Lamb reach 700 receiving yards since 2021, that should change this year. Pickens' Footballguys Projection has him at WR41, with 64 catches, 935 yards, and six touchdowns. |
Cincinnati Bengals first-round draft choice DE Shemar Stewart (Texas A&M) remains sidelined for Phase Two of the team's offseason workouts due to a disagreement over contract language in his rookie deal.
Footballguys view: Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer reported earlier on Tuesday that Stewart wants his contract to look like Cincinnati's last two first-round picks, both of whom were taken after No. 17 overall. As has been the case, Stewart is not planning to practice until the dispute is resolved. While he isn't working on the field, HC Zac Taylor noted that Stewart has "done a great job in the meetings." We'll continue to monitor. |
Tennessee Titans RB Tony Pollard amassed 301 touches in his first season with the team in 2024, but coach Brian Callahan would like to see more of an 'even split' with Pollard, Tyjae Spears and a third back in 2025 in a 'perfect world.'
Footballguys view: As SI.com recently noted, Pollard found success in his first season with the Titans, setting career highs in rushing attempts (260) and yards (1,079) while reaching the 300-touch mark for a second-consecutive season. He ran for over 100 yards three times and hit 100 combined yards in two other matchups. But Pollard also rushed for fewer than 50 yards in six games, and a late-season ankle issue sidelined him Week 17. To top it off, Pollard scored only five touchdowns, which was a factor in his RB22 finish. Assuming we see a more even split, Pollard might struggle to produce at the same level. He's currently being drafted as RB26 in early best-drafts with Spears going as RB42. As for that potential third back? Veteran Julius Chestnut and rookie Kalel Mullings, a sixth-round pick in last month's NFL Draft. The 6-foot, 226-pound Mullings converted from linebacker in 2022. We'll watch for more on this potential split as the season draws nearer. For now, Pollard and Spears are priced right. |

Los Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams recently noted that he is 'feeling good' about his chances of receiving a long-term contract extension, according to Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times. Per Klein, the two sides exchanged proposed contract terms in April, but progress has stalled from that point. 'Whether it happens now or I play out the season, I know it's going to happen eventually,' Williams said.
Footballguys view: We'd all love to see Williams locked into his spot in the Rams offense for the long haul. He broke out over the past two seasons and became one of the best at his position, thanks to the heavy volume that goes with the role. Accounting for nearly 81 percent of the Rams' rushing attempts by running backs last year, Williams ran the ball 316 times for 1,299 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024. Those numbers were new career highs, surpassing the 1,144 yards and 12 touchdowns he compiled in 12 games during the 2023 campaign. He added 66 receptions for 388 yards and six more touchdowns over those two years. As for his immediate future, we know Williams will be a Ram this year, and his RB8 spot on the Footballguys Projections reflects his role and past success. |
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (hamstring) will do most of the first-team work during voluntary organized team activities, head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Tuesday, May 20.
Footballguys view: A healthy Prescott should be on our fantasy radars heading into the 2024 season. After all, he's finished as a QB1 six times in his career -- every year, he's played a full 16- or 17-game season. He led the NFL with 36 touchdown passes and finished as QB3 as recently as 2023. That's a lot of upside for a quarterback with a flashy new weapon (George Pickens) to go with his even flashier holdover weapon (CeeDee Lamb). It's all even more appealing with Prescott going as QB16 -- up two spots since the NFL Draft and the Pickens trade -- in the 11th round of early best-ball drafts. |

Chicago Bears OG Joe Thuney received a two-year extension Tuesday, May 20. It's worth $17.5 million per year, per source, making it $51 million for the next three years with $33.5 million fully guaranteed at signing.
Footballguys view: Thuney was traded to the Bears by the Kansas City Chiefs in March in exchange for a 2026 fourth-round draft pick. He was entering the final season of a five-year, $80 million contract he signed with the Chiefs as a free agent in 2021. Over nine NFL seasons with the Patriots and Chiefs, Thuney has missed just two games, starting 146 games. Thuney has the highest pass block win rate (97.8 percent) in the NFL over the past two seasons and is coming off back-to-back seasons as a first-team All-Pro selection. He also was selected to his third straight Pro Bowl in 2024. Caleb Williams will benefit greatly from his presence. |
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson (Achilles) is out of a walking boot and throwing to WRs Jerry Jeudy and David Bell at the team's facility.
Footballguys view: While the world focuses on the four-way quarterback competition in Cleveland, Watson continues to make excellent progress in his comeback bid after suffering a pair of Achilles injuries. News of the second tear was expected to sideline Watson for most or all of the 2025 season, and the Browns responded by trading for a passer (Kenny Pickett), signing another (Joe Flacco), and then drafting two more (Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders). Watson is not part of the derby among Pickett, Gabriel, Flacco, and Sanders. As Profootballrumors.com suggests, Watson will likely begin the season on the Browns' reserve/PUP list, but if he receives clearance during the season, seeing how the team handles it will become a front-burner matter. |

Cleveland Browns RB Dylan Sampson does not have a clear role heading into 2025, in the opinion of The Athletic's Zac Jackson, who writes that he could 'potentially' win a job as the team's third-down back.
Footballguys view: As noted in the Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide Version 3.0, Sampson is undersized at 5-11 and 201 pounds. Even though he excelled in the open field, he was rarely deployed as a receiver, raising questions about his abilities there. Still, given his limitations, Sampson playing a complementary role rather than the three-down back workload he handled in college makes sense. |
Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford is not a lock to make the 53-man roster, in the opinion of The Athletic's Zac Jackson, who writes that 'Ford could go from atop the depth chart to a potential trade candidate' depending on how quickly rookie RBs Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson develop. Ford is in the final year of his rookie contract and took a pay cut this offseason.
Footballguys view: Ford played sparingly as a rookie in 2022 but alternated between the feature back and a third-down role over the past two seasons. While the decision to reduce his 2025 salary at least temporarily ensured his roster spot with the Browns, the additions of rookies Quinshon Judkins in the second round of April's NFL Draft and Dylan Sampson in the fourth round make the longer-term outlook less sure. |
Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins will 'almost certainly' be the team's 'feature runner' during his rookie season, in the opinion of The Athletic's Zac Jackson, who notes the team is not expected to bring back RB Nick Chubb while RB Jerome Ford took a pay cut to remain. Jackson adds that Judkins could open the season as the main short-yardage back before becoming the primary runner at 'some point' in 2025.
Footballguys view: As expected, Judkins was first in every line as the Browns' rookies went through the practice reps earlier this month, and fourth-round running back Dylan Sampson was close behind. Judkins should dominate the early-down carries for a Browns offense that will look to establish a strong rushing attack as they try to sort out their convoluted future at quarterback. Judkins' initial Footballguys projection calls for an RB25 finish with 210 carries and over 900 yards rushing. Expect him to be a factor at the goal line as well. |
Jacksonville Jaguars WR/CB Travis Hunter worked exclusively at wide receiver during practice Monday, May 19.
Footballguys view: Hunter has spent most of his time working with the offense since the Jaguars traded up to land him with the second pick overall in last month's NFL Draft. That said, he did participate in defensive meetings during rookie minicamp. Hunter also worked at cornerback last week, the final part of Phase 2 of the offseason conditioning program. During Monday's session, the rookie was the intended target on one of Trevor Lawrence's two interceptions, the result of a throw that sailed high. The two hooked up multiple times in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11. It'll take some time to get everyone comfortable in head coach Liam Coen's offense, but Lawrence said Hunter is making progress, and the QB is eager to work with the two-way star. "Ball skills, running after the catch, he's very explosive," Lawrence said of Hunter after Monday's session. "Just didn't realize how explosive he was in and out of cuts. He's impressive to watch, and we've connected a couple of times." We'll be watching for more. |
Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry said he is focusing on this upcoming season and will not say if the recent extension he signed will be his last contract.
Footballguys view: Henry's two-year extension is worth $30 million. It kept Henry from becoming a free agent at the end of this season and rewarded him with the biggest deal ever given to a running back over 30. "I think it's just focus on this year and then focus to continue to get better year after year that I'm here -- that's always going to be my focus," Henry said. "I love football, I love playing. I know people look at my age, but I don't really try to focus on that. I just focus on, 'How can Derrick Henry be better, how can Derrick Henry help the Ravens get to where they want to get to?'" Henry, 31, has not shown any signs of slowing down. Last season, his first with the Ravens, he ran for 1,921 yards, the most by a running back 30 or older in NFL history. |

Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III will be an option to return punts this upcoming season, according to special teams coordinator Richard Hightower.
Footballguys view: The Chicago Bears landed an explosive playmaker in Burden, so naturally, they'd like to get him the ball as much as possible. While Burden will play a key role in Ben Johnson's offense -- most likely in the slot, where he thrived in college -- he'll also have the opportunity to compete on special teams for the punt returner job. Burden served as a punt returner at Missouri, primarily during his freshman season, where he returned 12 punts for 151 yards (12.6 average), including a punt return touchdown. In his final two years, Burden returned 12 punts for 101 yards (8.3 average). The Bears will have quite the competition at the returner position, including newcomers Olamide Zaccheaus, former Pro Bowl returners Devin Duvernay, Maurice Alexander and Burden, and returning veterans Travis Homer, Tyler Scott, and Josh Blackwell. |
Denver Broncos LB Alex Singleton (knee) likely will be one of the starting inside linebackers this upcoming season if he is healthy, in the opinion of BroncosWire's Jon Heath.

Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft choice OG Wyatt Milum recently signed a four-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars worth $6.277 million.
Link to storyJacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence has been impressive with his ability to pick up the new offensive scheme, according to head coach Liam Coen.
Footballguys view: "He's done a phenomenal job," said Coen about Lawrence learning the new scheme. Coen noted the work Lawrence has put in on his own time, and handling the workload and play calls. "I've been very impressed." Meanwhile, Lawrence feels stronger as he works his way back from shoulder surgery. He suffered the injury in Week 9 last season and missed Weeks 10 and 11. However, once he was placed on IR due to a concussion, he and the team thought it was best to get the shoulder surgery at that time rather than putting it off until the end of the season. When the Jaguars reconvened for Phase I of offseason programs in April, Coen said that Lawrence would be on a "pitch count." However, roughly five weeks later, Lawrence went through the team drills during Monday's practice. Regarding the new offensive system, Lawrence likes what he sees. "It's great," the QB said. "It puts a lot on the players; you have to know your stuff, but it gives you all the answers. Without going into too much detail, there are a lot of things I like about it." We'll be following along as Lawrence and the Jaguars work their way up to speed with Coen at the helm. |

Cleveland Browns QBs Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are all possible candidates for the starting quarterback job this upcoming season, and the Browns want to have a fair and efficient competition for the job, according to The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Footballguys view: As previously noted, Cabot has characterized Pickett as her favorite to win the job. But it won't be handed to him. The plan will involve effectively splitting the offense into two during organized team activities, mandatory minicamp, and possibly training camp, with two quarterbacks with each unit. The Browns will likely try to pair up one veteran and one rookie, so in a typical practice, Pickett and Gabriel might be alternating throwing to one group of receivers while Flacco and Sanders alternate throwing to another group of receivers. The Browns currently have 12 wide receivers and five tight ends on the 90-player roster and want to ensure pass catchers are available to let all four quarterbacks get plenty of reps in offseason work. Stay tuned. |

Green Bay Packers first-round draft choice WR Matthew Golden signed a four-year contract with the Packers Monday, May 19. The deal includes a fifth-year option, but financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Golden was the No. 23 overall selection by Green Bay in last month's draft. It marked the first time the Packers had selected a receiver in the first round since 2002 (Javon Walker). Golden had 58 catches for 987 yards and nine touchdowns during his only year with Texas this past season. He went on to post the fastest 40-yard-dash time at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February. He'll look to contend for Green Bay's WR1 role as a rookie. With Christian Watson coming off a torn ACL suffered the first week of January, Golden will have every opportunity to earn that alpha role. |

San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension with the 49ers Monday, May 19, worth $63 million. The deal includes $56.7 million in guaranteed money.
Footballguys view: After completing lucrative contract extensions with quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle in recent weeks, the 49ers had one more key player to take care of to wrap up their most pressing offseason business. While Purdy's deal represented the largest deal in team history (five years for $265 million, including $181 million in overall guaranteed money) and the biggest raise the Niners have ever handed out, Warner's extension always figured to be a bit easier because he had two years remaining on the five-year, $95 million deal he signed in 2021. With Warner, 28, Purdy, and Kittle signed before the on-field portion of organized team activities begin, the 49ers can rest easy from a business standpoint as they head toward training camp. |
Fred Warner player page
Cleveland Browns fifth-round draft choice Shedeur Sanders (Colorado) signed a four-year contract with a reported $4.6 million on Monday, May 19.
Footballguys view: The Browns are reportedly planning to have a unique quarterback competition, with Sanders, third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, Kenny Pickett, and Joe Flacco all having a chance to earn the club's starting role. One local observer, Cleveland Plain Dealer staffer Mary Kay Cabot, expects Pickett to win the job. Others see Flacco as the likely starter. Either way, the veterans seem to hold the early lead. |
Kansas City Chiefs seventh-round draft choice Brashard Smith (Southern Methodist) is 'an Alvin Kamara clone with 4.3 speed,' according to ESPN's Louis Riddick.
Footballguys view: In case you missed it, Kamara was named the NFL Rookie of the Year, a Pro Bowler in his first five NFL seasons, and a two-time second-team All-Pro. He became the Saints' All-Time leading rusher. Meanwhile, as suggested in the Footballguys Rookie Draft Guide Version 3.0, a seventh-round pick will not merit much attention in usual circumstances. But the Chiefs already hit gold on Isiah Pacheco in a similar situation. Beyond that, Smith landed in the perfect situation to make an impact, considering he will play with Patrick Mahomes and be coached by Andy Reid, one of the greatest offensive innovators ever. We shouldn't get carried away in redraft leagues, but Smith is a reasonably-priced investment in Dynasty leagues and a free-square play in best-ball formats. |
Detroit Lions QB Hendon Hooker 'has a lot of room to grow' but is 'throwing the ball better, his footwork is better, and he understands our concepts (better),' according to quarterbacks coach Mark Brunell.
Footballguys view: Hooker, 27, is entering the third year of his NFL career. He was sidelined for most of his first, as he rehabbed a torn ACL suffered in college. The Tennessee product was granted his first taste of NFL action last year, playing in all three preseason games and making three regular-season appearances in mop-up duty. Given that he missed his entire rookie offseason and got his first opportunity to go through training camp last year, he still stands to benefit greatly from the chances to compete that the offseason provides. But Hooker remains a developmental project as an NFL player. His fantasy relevance is limited to deep dynasty leagues at this point. |

Los Angeles Chargers first-round draft choice Omarion Hampton (North Carolina) reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract with $17.77 million - including a $9.56 million signing bonus - on Monday, May 19.
Footballguys view: As Bleacher Report noted, the Chargers were high on Hampton heading into the draft, as head coach Jim Harbaugh said the team rejected multiple trade offers to keep their No. 22 selection. With Hampton on board, the Chargers have a talented duo in the backfield after signing free agent running back Najee Harris in March. Harris, gearing up for his fifth season, has rushed for more than 1,000 yards every year of his career thus far. Hampton and Harris should help a Los Angeles rushing attack that averaged just 110.7 rushing yards per game in 2024. Hampton is RB21 on the Footballguys Draft Projections for our purposes, while Harris is RB35. |
The Eagles have agreed to a multiyear extension with head coach Nick Sirianni, the team announced Monday. Terms of the extension were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Sirianni, 43, is 48-20 with the Eagles, and his winning percentage (.706) is the third-highest in the Super Bowl era. He is 6-3 in the postseason and has guided the team to two Super Bowl appearances, including a decisive win this past February against the Kansas City Chiefs. Before the extension, Sirianni had been set to enter the final year of the five-year contract he signed when he was hired by the Eagles in 2021. The Eagles suffered a 1-6 collapse down the stretch in 2023 and got off to a 2-2 start this past season, seemingly putting Sirianni on shaky ground. But the team responded by going 16-1 down the stretch, including the postseason, to deliver Philadelphia its second Lombardi Trophy. |
New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore told reporters on Monday, May 19, that we will 'give these guys (quarterbacks Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, Tyler Shough and Hunter Dekkers) a bunch of opportunities' before adding help via trade or free agency.'Certainly, there (are) times where if the opportunity presents itself, you feel like it's a really good fit, you'd love to do it. We feel like we have some good guys here that can certainly mentor each other at the same time going through this process. . . . We'll see how this whole thing progresses. The roster is a moving dynamic thing throughout the offseason process,' Moore said.
Footballguys view: It's worth noting that for more of his own time as a coach in the NFL, Moore has worked with younger quarterbacks (one small exception being Andy Dalton's nine-game stint as the starter in 2020 after Dal Prescott suffered a season-ending injury). Whether it's a rookie like Shough or a second- or third-year pro like Rattler or Haener starting this season, it's nothing new for him. And as Moore himself pointed out, having former pro quarterbacks on his coaching staff like Doug Nussmeier and Scott Tolzien goes a long way towards bridging the gap. While the draft capital invested in Shough (the 40th pick overall last month) suggests he's the early favorite, fantasy investors shouldn't get too far in front of this one. Shough is currently QB32 on the Footballguys Projections. |

Former New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas was hired by the Philadelphia Eagles in a senior scouting role Monday, May 19.
Link to storyUpdating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy received a no-trade clause for the duration of his five-year deal.
Footballguys view: The reported five-year, $265 million contract means Purdy gets financial security and control over his future. More immediately, Purdy, who finished as QB13 last year, sits at QB14 on the 2025 Footballguys Projections. While his numbers took a hit during the 2024 season, it's important to note the absence of a handful of key offensive weapons as San Francisco had brutal injury luck with a few of its star players as the 49ers stumbled toward a 6-11 record. Despite the down season, Purdy, who finished as QB6 in 2023, will play a significant role in getting what the team hopes will be a healthier offense back on track. If that's the case, fantasy investors could easily end up with QB1 production at a QB2 price. |
Green Bay Packers WR Christian Watson (knee) probably will start the 2025 regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of PackersWire's Mark Oldacres.
Footballguys view: Watson suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the 2024 regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears. The timing of the injury means that Watson isn't a lock to play in 2025. The Packers added Matthew Golden in the first round of April's NFL Draft and Savion Williams in the third round, bolstering their depth at the position. Given the first-round capital invested in Golden, Watson's future in Green Bay beyond 2025 -- the final year of his rookie deal -- might also become uncertain. |
New England Patriots RB Rhamondre Stevenson (personal) has been absent from recent voluntary offseason workouts while he deals with personal matters.
Footballguys view: Stevenson's father, Robert, passed away in March at age 54. Stevenson also lost his childhood friend, Brandan Harley, last season. Understanding that Stevenson has experienced sudden and heartbreaking losses in a short period of time, teammates privately say they hope to provide him with as much support as possible once he starts spending more time at the facility. Meanwhile, his recent absences during the voluntary offseason program might explain why the team signed veteran Trayveon Williams to a one-year deal on Wednesday, adding another layer of depth to better evenly distribute some of the work. |

Cleveland Browns OT Dawand Jones (leg) has been participating in offseason workouts.
Link to storyCleveland Browns DT Michael Hall Jr. (knee) is making progress in his recovery from knee surgery but is not expected to participate in offseason workouts. The team hopes he will be ready to practice when training camp begins.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan has been impressive during offseason workouts and has shown a very good work ethic, according to wide receivers coach Rob Moore. 'He works on his ability to finish, and try and be detailed. It's one of the hardest things for young players to really dial in on the details of every play. He was really dialed in,' Moore said.
Footballguys view: McMillan was arguably the best wide receiver in this draft class, and there's shades of Mike Evans to his game. His size/speed combination is going to help move the chains, and McMillan's consistency should make him a favorite target for QB Bryce Young early and often in 2025. |
Free-agent QB Aaron Rodgers (Jets) has not been considered as a possible option for the New Orleans Saint after QB Derek Carr's retirement.
Footballguys view: When Carr retired, the news machine quickly went to the unsigned Rodgers as an option. That always seemed like media hype more than reality. The Saints seem comfortable with a quarterback group including Spencer Rattler, rookie Tyler Shough, and Jake Haener as starting options. The starting job will be hammered out in training camp and the preseason. |

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford said he has been working out with WR Davante Adams this offseason and that Adams fits right in with the team.
Footballguys view: Adams is a special player, and he can still be a big threat in his age-32 season. Stafford and Adams should be a fantasy force, so Adams still should post WR2 numbers for Fantasy GMs out there. |
