Welcome to Week 12 of the 2023 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- WR Prospects: A Look at the 2024 NFL Draft Class (see below)
- WR Roulette: Whose Recent Emergence Is Sustainable
- RB Perception Game: Who Is Better/Worse Than Their Perceived Value
- Bust? Or, Not So Fast... (see below)
Let's roll.
Bust? Or, Not So Fast...
Matt Waldman: Pick a player from the list and tell me why they will remain a bust or why any conclusions shouldn't be reached so quickly.
Go!
Sean Settle: Pump the brakes on Jameson Williams when trying to label as a bust. The young receiver has had the odds stacked against him since being drafted. He was recovering from a major injury and then got caught up in a sports betting scandal. He has not had enough opportunity to be labeled a bust.
This Detroit offense is doing special things right now, and the ball is getting spread around. Jameson has the speed and hands to be a possession receiver and stretch the field. He could easily play the role of Amon-Ra St. Brown if St. Brown was not doing it so well. Look for his usage to increase as Sam LaPorta comes back down, and the Lions lack a true No.2 receiver. Jameson has the tools and is in the proper situation to rebound going forward.
Matt Montgomery: Quentin Johnston is just not going to work in the NFL. It is one thing to have the rookie woes and learn that the game is a little different when you’re a small fish in a big pond, but Johnston is even having issues lining up in the correct spots on the field.
If you get past that, he has a case of the drops, and there has been little to no positive press about what he has provided the Chargers this season. Until we see something, anything really, that tells us he has potential, he needs to remain on the bench or, even worse, the waiver wire.
