Welcome to Week 11 of the 2023 Footballguys Roundtable. Our intrepid panel of fantasy pundits discusses and debates four topics every week. We split the conversation into separate features.
This week's roundtable features these four topics:
- Faith/Fear: Players We Trust-Players Who Scare Us
- Waiver-Wire Prospecting: Most-Least Likely to Add
- QB Perception Game: Who Is Better/Worse Than Their Perceived Value (see below)
- Either/Or: The TE Edition
Let's roll.
QB Perception Game: Who Is Better/Worse Than Their Perceived Value
Matt Waldman: Which quarterback is clearly worse than his current fantasy value? Which quarterback is clearly better than his current value? Pick one for each question from the list below.
Let's begin with Whom You Believe is better...
Jason Wood: Dak Prescott is clearly better. I was down on Prescott this preseason because I thought Mike McCarthy's play-calling would reduce the Cowboys to a ball-control offense incapable of matching the top-5 seasons Kellen Moore delivered as the play-caller. But I was wrong, as the Cowboys currently rank No. 2 offensively, and Prescott is having a fantastic season. He's comfortable with McCarthy's game plan and tempo, and Prescott probably should've never fallen out of the Top 10 at the position, a place he ranked routinely before this year's fantasy drafts.
Adam Wilde: Sam Howell is undoubtedly much worse than Brock Purdy, but he's got the type of ceiling I'd rather lean on going into the playoffs. He's attempted at least 40 passes six times and has four 300-yard performances. He missed both marks by just one in Week 2. His volume makes him a much safer option than he's given credit for, even if his performances don't look great.
Phil Alexander: Brock Purdy's detractors will have a more difficult time making the case against him by the time the season ends. The 49ers remaining schedule includes games against the Buccaneers, Seahawks, Eagles, Cardinals, and Commanders. Each of those defenses ranks inside the top 10 in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, and three are inside the top-5. With Deebo Samuel and Trent Williams back healthy, we have every reason to expect Purdy to average at least 20 fantasy points per game for the rest of the season.
