As SI.com reported, Eagles safety Reed Blankenship was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play, which advanced the ball 15 yards and could potentially explain the origin of Fields' injury. While Russell Wilson remains the starting quarterback, Kyle Allen would be Wilson's backup if Fields misses time. The 25-year-old joined the Steelers in March via trade from the Chicago Bears. He started the first six contests of the year while Wilson worked through a calf injury, leading them to a 4-2 record. |

| Footballguys view: This adds to local reporting, specifically by Pittsburgh Post-Gazette staffer Gerry Dulac, who reported Monday night that Pickens sustained a Grade 2 hamstring strain in practice last week. His type of injury usually requires a player to miss at least two games, and the Steelers want to be cautious. After making Pickens a pre-game inactive against the Browns, Tomlin said, "We didn't want a small problem to become a big problem." Mike Williams, Van Jefferson, Calvin Austin III, and Scotty Miller were all involved against Cleveland with Pickns out. Tight end Pat Freiermuth's opportunities could increase if Pickens is out against the Eagles, as expected. |

Steelers wide receiver George Pickens was inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns because of a hamstring injury, and that came as a bit of a surprise because a report on Sunday morning indicated that he would be able to play after being added to the injury report on Friday. After the 27-14 win, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked why Pickens didn't get on the field and said that it was a matter of making sure he'd be back to full speed as soon as possible. "GP was listed as questionable," Tomlin said. "We didn't feel like he was going to be able to play the number of snaps we thought would be worth putting him a uniform for. We didn't want a small problem to become a big problem."
| Footballguys view: A league source told ESPN's Brooke Pryor that Pickens has a grade 2 hamstring strain. The Steelers will be in Philadelphia to face the Eagles in Week 15, and having all hands on deck would be a big boost in that heavyweight matchup. We'll be watching this one closely in coming days, but for now it's worth noting that Footballguys injury expert Adam Hutchinson believes the fact that Pickens was so close to playing this week leads him to think the wideout will be ready to go Sunday. |
