Eagles | C.J. Uzomah unable to return Sun Dec 29, 06:54 PM
Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles TE C.J. Uzomah (abdomen) did not return to the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys after exiting with an abdominal injury.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Uzomah, who has bounced between the practice squad and the regular roster, does not have a catch on more than 100 offensive snaps in 2024. He was working behind Grant Calcaterra, filling in as the starter with Dallas Goedert on injured reserve. |

Eagles | C.J. Gardner-Johnson leads defensive effort Sun Dec 29, 04:59 PM
Philadelphia Eagles S C.J. Gardner-Johnson recorded two interceptions, returning one 69 yards for a touchdown, in a 41-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.

Eagles | A.J. Brown scores again Sun Dec 29, 04:55 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown finished with three catches on five targets for 36 yards and a touchdown in a 41-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.
Footballguys view: Brown at least caught a touchdown to keep from being a complete bust, but he also threw it into the stands, forgetting it was Tanner McKee's first NFL touchdown pass. Brown was able to get it back from the fan who caught it and surely put some of his own gear up to make it worth the fan's time. |

Eagles | Huge game for DeVonta Smith Sun Dec 29, 04:51 PM
Philadelphia Eagles WR DeVonta Smith caught six of his seven targets for a season-high 120 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17.
Footballguys view: Smith had a massive game even though the Eagles played their second and third string quarterbacks. Da'Ron Bland was shadowing A.J. Brown, so Smith was easily burning the lesser Cowboys corners. |

Eagles | Saquon Barkley eclipses 2,000 yards Sun Dec 29, 04:48 PM
Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley went over 2,000 rushing yards for the season during a 41-7 win over the Dallas Cowboys in in Week 17, rushing 31 times for 167 yards and adding two catches for two yards.
Footballguys view: Barkley has been nothing short of a revelation running behind a good offensive line. He will be in the running to be a top 3-5 fantasy pick next year and can break Eric Dickerson's single season rushing record with 101 yards next week. |

Eagles | Tanner McKee shines in relief Sun Dec 29, 04:46 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Tanner McKee replaced QB Kenny Pickett (ribs) during the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys, completing three of his four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-7 win.

Eagles | Kenny Pickett solid before early exit Sun Dec 29, 04:43 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Kenny Pickett (ribs) completed 10 of his 15 pass attempts for 143 yards and a touchdown and ran for a score before exiting the Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com noted, Pickett filled in admirably in his first start for the Eagles before leaving in the third quarter with a rib injury. He was held out the rest of the way with the game well in hand. Turns out the injury was more than something that occurred during the game. Pickett practiced the entire week with broken ribs suffered in the Eagles' Week 16 loss to the Commanders. Pickett wore a flak jacket throughout the week to protect his ribs and continued to wear it on Sunday. NBC Sports' Mike Florio reported Pickett had multiple pain-killing injections as well. Third-string quarterback Tanner McKee finished the game, but Pickett seemed confident he could go Week 18 if needed. "I'm good. I'm good. I'll be alright," Pickett said. "We'll do more tests and see how it looks. But I'll be okay." Stay tuned. |

Eagles | Jalen Hurts could be rested in Week 18 Sat Dec 28, 03:00 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (concussion) could be held out of Week 18's game versus the New York Giants if the Eagles beat the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17 and lock up the No. 2 seed in the NFC for the postseason, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Footballguys view: Hurts is out in Week 17 against the Cowboys, so Kenny Pickett gets his first start of the year. That could be a second start if things fall in place for the Eagles to lock up the no.2 seed. Pickett isn't a great starting option, but the former first-round pick knows how to go after WR AJ Brown early and often. |

Link to storyEagles | Jalen Hurts Ruled Out Vs. Cowboys; Pickett Set To Start Fri Dec 27, 04:09 PM
The Eagles released their final injury report for the week on Friday afternoon, and it showed that QB Jalen Hurts is ruled out for Week 17 because of the concussion he suffered in last Sunday's loss to the Commanders.
Footballguys view: Hurts did not practice at all this week, so the final designation was just a formality. Kenny Pickett hurt his ribs in that game, but he has no injury designation and is set to start against Dallas. Rookie Tanner McKee will serve as the backup. Wide receiver A.J. Brown is also good to go for the Eagles. He was limited in Thursday's practice with a knee issue, but got in a full practice on Friday and has no designation. Brown is still a viable play with Pickett as his triggerman, but fellow wideout Devonta Smith projects as a tail-end WR3, so consider all options before rolling him out. |

Eagles | Jalen Hurts unlikely to play Fri Dec 27, 12:01 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (concussion) is unlikely to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 17, head coach Nick Sirianni said Friday, Dec. 27.
Footballguys view: Kenny Pickett, who practiced fully Thursday despite a rib injury, is in line to start against the Cowboys on Sunday. Pickett has not made a start for the Eagles this season. His first extensive playing time with the team came last weekend, and he was 14-of-24 for 143 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. While A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley are must-start plays regardless of QB, WR DeVonta Smith drops down to the low-end of the WR3 range with the change at QB; check your options carefully. |

Eagles | Kenny Pickett fully practices Thu Dec 26, 06:11 PM
Philadelphia Eagles QB Kenny Pickett (ribs) fully participated in practice Thursday, Dec. 26.
Footballguys view: With Jalen Hurts working through the league's concussion protocol, Pickett is in line to start. A ribs injury can be painful to deal with, but Pickett can wear a flak jacket and tough it out. Pickett has no problem going after AJ Brown regardless of coverage, so that's a silver lining for Fantasy GMs. |

Eagles | Siriani Confirms Jalen Hurts Is In The Concussion Protocol Mon Dec 23, 02:41 PM
Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed on Monday that Jalen Hurts remains in concussion protocol, leaving his status in doubt as the Cowboys look ahead to Week 17 against the Cowboys.
Footballguys view: Hurts suffered a concussion midway through the first quarter when he dove forward during a 13-yard run Sunday against the Commanders during the Eagles' 36-33 loss Sunday. Hurts was hit in the helmet by Washington linebacker Frankie Luvu and ordered by the referee to get evaluated for a concussion. Hurts reluctantly left the field and was replaced by Kenny Pickett. Hurts went into the medical tent on the sideline and appeared ready to return to the game as Pickett continued the drive. Instead, Hurts was taken to the locker room for further evaluation and was ruled out in the second quarter. Now, he'll have to work through the league's five-step protocol before he can play again. Remember, Pickett injured his ribs Sunday. He had X-rays after the game, and while he didn't reveal what they found, Pickett told reporters that he thinks he'll be ready for this week. We'll continue to watch for more. |

Philadelphia Eagles QB Kenny Pickett completed 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception against the Washington Commanders in Week 16. Pickett, who replaced an injured QB Jalen Hurts (concussion) in the first quarter, also ran three times for 13 yards.
Link to storyEagles | Sirianni Has No Updates On Jalen Hurts; Week 17 Availability Uncertain Sun Dec 22, 08:25 PM
Following up on a previous item, Jalen Hurts was concussed minutes into Sunday's game against the Commanders and ruled out after evaluation. Coach Nick Sirianni had no update on his starting QB's status afterward. "I haven't talked to our medical staff yet," Sirriani said. "Anything that has anything to do with the head is out of our hands there."
Footballguys view: Hurts was hurt when his head slammed against the ground on one run, and he was hit in the helmet by Frankie Luvu at the end of another. Kenny Pickett played like a backup quarterback in relief of Hurts and the Eagles' winning streak ended at 10 games. Hurts' status for the Week 17 home game against Dallas will linger for the Eagles. We'll follow up as needed. |

Eagles | Kenny Pickett To Have Addition Testing On Injured Ribs Sun Dec 22, 07:52 PM
With Jalen Hurts sidelined by a concussion, Kenny Pickett, the former Pittsburgh Steelers signal-caller, replaced him in the lineup and finished 14-of-24 for 143 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a "sloppy" 36-33 loss to the Commanders. He was spotted entering the X-ray room after the game. Pickett later said he sustained a rib injury and will undergo further testing Monday.
Footballguys view: Pickett's injury occurred early in the fourth quarter when he was wrestled down in the backfield by linebacker Bobby Wagner. He stayed in the game and helped engineer a drive that resulted in a go-ahead field goal with 3:48 remaining. Sixth-round pick Tanner McKee is the third quarterback on the 53-man roster in Philly, and the team will likely need to add another quarterback to the practice squad as insurance against the injuries. We'll be watching for more on Hurts and Pickett in coming days. The Eagles play the Cowboys in Week 17. |

Link to storyEagles | Jalen Hurts will not return Sun Dec 22, 02:03 PM
Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (concussion) will not return to the Week 16 game because of a concussion.
Footballguys view: Hurts going down probably lost some teams their fantasy matchup, but it also probably cost the Eagles a game they should have won easily after Washington turned the ball over five times. The Eagles have fallen behind in the race for the #1 seed heading into a matchup against Dallas. We'll be monitoring Hurts progress with concussion protocol. |
