Eagles | Saquon Barkley asking for advice Sun May 31, 03:03 PM
Philadelphia Eagles RB Saquon Barkley reached out to retired RB Todd Gurley for advice on how to make the most of offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's system.
Footballguys view: Gurley was a teammate of new Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion with the Rams in 2017-2018, and he had two of the best years of his career in the zone running game during the Sean McVay regime. Barkley will be running a lot more outside zone with the quarterback under center, so he is having to revamp his game. Offensive line health is a big question mark along with Barkley's adjustment physically and mentally to a one cut and go style of play, but this season should be a better offensive environment for him after playing in the disaster of an offense run by Kevin Patullo, who was let go in the offseason.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Parker Washington has 'looked dynamic as he ever has' during OTAs, according to John Shipley of SI.com.
Footballguys view: It doesn't look like the Jaguars are going to trade Brian Thomas Jr. this offseason, and they have said that the plan for Travis Hunter to play on both sides of the ball has not changed, so the pass offense appears to be crowded. Washington was able to rise above late last season and in the wild card loss to the Bills. He hasn't slowed down and the team is talking about cross-training him for inside/outside versatility. He could be the best "buy high" player in dynasty leagues right now.

Pittsburgh Steelers LB Patrick Queen is entering the final year of his contract, and an extension between the two sides is not considered close. 'I've got a good amount of money coming in this year,' Queen said. 'So, at the end of the day, I couldn't care less. If they do want to extend, cool. If not, cool. At the end of the day, it's as a business.' He enters his seventh NFL season, and he hasn't missed a start across four years with the Baltimore Ravens, and his first two seasons with the Steelers. He is looking to have a big season, but will have to adjust to a new defense under Patrick Graham. He was working with LB Payton Wilson to help get him up to speed with the new defensive coordinator's plan.

Buffalo Bills CB Dorian Strong (neck) was spotted at organized team activities (OTAs) still wearing a neck brace, as he recovers from neck surgery. His future remains uncertain, as he makes his way back from injury.
Link to storyBuffalo Bills LB Michael Hoecht (Achilles) continues to rehab from a torn Achilles tendon, and he was working off to the side during organized team activities (OTAs).
Link to storyBuffalo Bills DL Ed Oliver (knee) was limited to just three games in 2025 due to an ankle injury, and then a season-ending torn biceps injury. He isn't taking part in organized team activities (OTAs), as he takes it slow after having a knee scope on his left leg back in December. He also had a small setback recently. 'Yeah, I'm fully 100 percent ready to go,' he said. 'I got a little oops, oops, but it's fine. I probably could go if I wanted to, but I mean, what's the point of going now, and potentially (getting hurt), versus late in the playoffs, when I really need to be on go.'
Footballguys view: The Bills most impactful defensive lineman didn't help them much in 2025, so there is some hidden upside in this defense in its first year since 2016 with someone other than Sean McDermott at head coach. The Bills should be very conservative with Oliver's return and focus on creating the highest possible probability that he'll be healthy for postseason football. If Oliver is ready for Week 1, he'll help the Bills in what could be a playoff preview against the Texans in the season opener.

San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa (knee) is making his way back from a third torn anterior cruciate ligament, and the second on his right knee. He has developed ways to cope with adversity, stress and anxiety during his seven-year career, which he considered ending after his latest injury. 'It was rough early on, especially how good things (were) going for the defense and me personally,' Bosa said. 'I felt that was at a pretty high level to start the year. And then you start out (after you're injured) wanting to quit. Never play again. Never put your body in that position again. And then you slowly realize that you love this game, and you want to get back to it.' He fully expects to play in the regular-season opener against the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 10 in Australia.
Footballguys view: Bosa is a very important player for a defense that was playing without him and Fred Warner for most of the season, and also lost defensive coordinator Robert Saleh when he was hired as the head coach of the Titans. The Rams offense could start out red hot against the 49ers defense still rounding into form down under in Week 1.

San Francisco 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw is happy to be back after one injury-filled season with the Denver Broncos, and he and LB Fred Warner are projected to start together. 'It's really cool when I talk to the team, to sit back there and see those guys shoulder to shoulder,' head coach Kyle Shanahan said. 'I've seen them like that their whole careers together.' Greenlaw is under contract for $6 million for one season, and $7.5 million based on incentives. He has not played a full season since 2019, but he did make 15 starts in consecutive seasons while posting at least 120 tackles in both 2022 and 2023.

Philadelphia Eagles OT Markel Bell served as the right tackle with the first-team offense at organized team activities Wednesday, May 27, and could be viewed by the club as a potential swing tackle option this season.

Link to storyFree-agent CB Deantre Prince (Jaguars) worked out for the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, May 27, according to a league source.
Link to storyPittsburgh Steelers LB Patrick Queen is likely entering his final year with the club, in the opinion of Steelers insider Mark Kaboly. Queen, who signed a three-year contract in March 2024, is set to become a free agent after the 2026 season and has been the subject of multiple trade rumors this offseason.

New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave gained 10 pounds of muscle ahead of OTAs.
Footballguys view: We'll withhold any opinion whether this is a good or bad thing until we see if it affects Olave's elite route running. Reports from OTAs had him separating in practice with his typical effortless style, so chances are this is a good thing for the Saints #1 receiver, who should get a market level extension before the beginning of the season.
Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs is 'positioned to reset the running back market in a big way,' according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. 'Think $20 million per year or over,' Fowler said.
Footballguys view: He has earned it, and the Lions should have no hesitation paying it. Because Gibbs and fellow 2023 first round pick Jack Campbell play positions with a lower top of the pay scale, their combined cost per year should come in right after what the Seahawks are paying Jaxon Smith-Njigba on his contract extension.

Jacksonville Jaguars WR Brian Thomas Jr.'s chemistry with QB Trevor Lawrence in the deep passing game has been a focus this offseason, according to head coach Liam Coen. 'Our average depth of target went up towards the second half of the season, but we've got to keep pushing that envelope a little bit - especially with him and BT, that connection,' Coen said.
Footballguys view: Thomas should be the main deep target in the Jaguars offense, but he, Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington are all going to play large roles, and their fantasy values will be determined by how well they execute and riff with Trevor Lawrence. Washington dominated in OTAs, so Thomas still has work to do to justify his ADP being ahead of the hottest Jaguars receiver at the end of the season.
Jacksonville Jaguars RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. (undisclosed) did not practice and was seen riding a stationary back at practice Tuesday, May 26. Head coach Liam Coen did not comment on the specifics of Rodriguez's injury.
Footballguys view: Coen did not seem worried, but we would like to know more about the nature of Rodriguez's absence before writing this off as nothing to be concerned about. The free agent signing is expected to be part of a three-headed committee with 2025 fourth round pick Bhayshul Tuten and 2025 seventh round pick LeQuint Allen, with an edge in short yardage and inside running. Tuten and Allen are both impressing his absence, and could make it an uphill climb for Rodriguez to earn more work than expected, but Coen's familiarity with Rodriguez could offset that.
New York Giants RB Cam Skattebo (ankle) 'snuck into' some positional drills during practice Friday, May 29, and appeared to be moving well, according to Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com.
Footballguys view: Of the two rookie backs who suffered dislocated ankle/fractured fibula injuries last year, Skattebo is behind Quinshon Judkins - who has been moving surprisingly well already - but still on track to be ready for Week 1. The big question is whether Skattebo will be back his old self this year. Skattebo did suffer ligament damage that Judkins didn't, so he was expected to be behind Judkins. We'll be watching this closely. For now, Tyrone Tracy has some speculative early season upside as Skattebo's backup.
Denver Broncos RB Jonah Coleman could be used as a receiver out of the backfield during his rookie season, in the opinion of BroncosWire's Jon Heath.
Footballguys view: Coleman is a threat to both JK Dobbins and RJ Harvey's roles, and he could end up being as valuable as Harvey even though there is a 50+ pick gap in their ADPs. Coleman could also be the first man up if Dobbins goes down. This is a big camp for Harvey to prove he deserves a bigger opportunity to prove he was worth the second round pick the Broncos spent on him last year.
Los Angeles Rams second-round draft choice TE Max Klare signed a four-year contract with the Rams Friday, May 29. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Like 2025 second round pick Terrance Ferguson, Klare will be eased into the offense, but we should assume that the long term vision of Sean McVay is for both Klare and Ferguson to be on the field more often than not - a base two tight end offense. Klare is a good long term stash in tight end premium leagues and he might be good enough to have value in PPR leagues by year two or three of his rookie deal.
Tennessee Titans WR Calvin Ridley participated in the voluntary workout Friday, May 29, but was limited to individual drills.
Footballguys view: Carnell Tate stole the show at OTAs and looked like the clear #1 receiver. He and Cam Ward appear to have an instant connection. Ridley is being paid like a starter and he is worth a late round pick in drafts, but Tate has all of the momentum in the Titans passing game right now.

Seattle Seahawks first-round draft choice RB Jadarian Price agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Seahawks Friday, May 29, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: Price has a chance to start Week 1 in the Super Bowl rematch against New England, but nothing is promised or guaranteed to him. George Holani is splitting first team work with Price while Zach Charbonnet (expected back sometime in the second half of the season) and Kenny McIntosh (should be ready for camp) recover from ACL surgery. Free agent signing Emanuel Wilson was not seen at practice this week, but Price did have a great play on a long reception that could help create momentum for him to be used in the passing game after barely seeing any targets at Notre Dame behind Arizona Cardinals #3 overall pick Jeremiyah Love.
Cleveland Browns WR Denzel Boston has done a good job learning the offense and has been making plays during offseason workouts, according to offensive coordinator Travis Switzer.
Link to storyNew York Jets WR Garrett Wilson said the recovery from his knee injury was longer than he expected but that he feels great now.
Footballguys view: Wilson will have a chance to start hot with Geno Smith at quarterback, but if the Jets turn to fourth round rookie Cade Klubnik after the season is lost, then Wilson's value could evaporate. His ADP is lower than it was last year, but has not fallen to the lowly level that his 2025 lost campaign would dictate.
New York Jets RB Braelon Allen has been participating in offseason workouts after missing most of the 2025 season because of a knee injury.
Link to storyNew England Patriots RB Terrell Jennings could be on the roster bubble during training camp because of his injury history, in the opinion of NBC Sports Boston's Phil Perry.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Tahj Washington (undisclosed) worked in the rehab area during the voluntary workout Wednesday, May 27.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins CB Storm Duck (knee) underwent knee surgery this offseason, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Link to storySeattle Seahawks assistant general manager Nolan Teasley agreed to terms with the Minnesota Vikings Saturday, May 30, to become their new general manager, according to sources.
Footballguys view: Teasley was the only outside candidate, so this will bring a fresh perspective to the Vikings. He has been working for the Seahawks for 13 years and was one of the few people in the building who were part of both of their Super Bowl championship efforts. If he is judged as the "top football executive" (which Falcons GM Ian Cunningham was not), then the Seahawks will get two compensatory third round picks as Teasley already qualifies as a "diverse candidate" per the league itself.
Chicago Bears WR Luther Burden III has been performing well during offseason workouts and has been working on learning new routes, according to head coach Ben Johnson.
Footballguys view: Burden is going to be close to a full-time player after DJ Moore got dealt to Buffalo. He'll occupy the slot and get some of the high percentage targets that turned Amon-Ra St. Brown into a star under Johnson in Detroit. Whether to take Burden, tight end Colston Loveland, or Rome Odunze first in drafts is not an easy call, but this early buzz makes it easier to pick Burden.
Minnesota Vikings QB Kyler Murray and QB J.J. McCarthy both received work with the first-team offense during the voluntary workout this week, but McCarthy seems to be behind Murray in the competition at this point, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Kevin Seifert.
Footballguys view: Seifert wasn't the only observer at Vikings practice to put Murray after of McCarthy, and some had the gap very large. This is technically a quarterback competition, but McCarthy is going to have to up his level of play for there to be any suspense. All of the initial reports about Murray's acclimation to the team and offense are positive, so if you wanted to invest in him hoping for a bounceback season, you should feel encouraged by what we are hearing out of Minnesota.

Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua said that he 'hasn't really thought' about an extension with the club, even though he is eligible to receive one. He is entering the final season of his rookie contract and could command a deal similar to the four-year, $168.6 million extension given to Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba in March, which made him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history.
Footballguys view: The Rams might be hesitant to give Nacua that large of a contract after he checked into rehab for a period of weeks this offseason following some regrettable moments in public. They can also put clauses in any new contract to protect themselves if Nacua's off-field behavior is a problem again. There's no reason to think that Nacua won't pick up where he left off and earn the long term investment from the Rams, but we will be monitoring the reports out of camp and the preseason.

New York Jets CB D'Angelo Ponds will receive reps at both slot and outside cornerback, according to head coach Aaron Glenn, who added that it appears as though he has a good understanding of both positions.
Link to storyKansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) took part in competitive 7-on-7 drills during his third consecutive day of practice Friday, May 29. However, he was held out of participating in full 11-on-11 team periods as a precautionary measure by head coach Andy Reid.

Green Bay Packers RB Christopher Brooks took first-team reps during 11-on-11 drills at OTAs on Wednesday, May 27.
Footballguys view: Brooks' strength is his passing down skills, but with Emanuel Wilson gone to Seattle in free agency and MarShawn Lloyd once again "working off to the side", Brooks is the primary backup to Josh Jacobs, who was in the news because of domestic violence allegations earlier this week. We should know if the Packers expect Jacobs to miss time due to a suspension by whether they decide to improve their running back bench.
San Francisco 49ers RB Isaac Guerendo (pectoral) suffered a torn pectoral this offseason and is expected to be sidelined until around the end of training camp, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Footballguys view: Guerendo was already viewed as behind third round pick Kaelon Black and last year's fifth round pick Jordan James on the depth chart. It's possible that Guerendo ends up on the NFI or PUP list to start the season. This news almost insures that the 2024 fourth round pick will be a non-factor in the 49ers backfield this season.
New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn told the media on Thursday, May 29, that the team is having an open competition for the backup quarterback spot between Cade Klubnik, Bailey Zappe, and Brady Cook.
Footballguys view: The fourth round pick Klubnik has a good chance to beat out Zappe, who has leveled out as a QB3 on the fringe of rosters after getting a cup of coffee with the Patriots earlier in his career, and Cook, who looked overwhelmed when he got on the field as an undrafted free agent last year.
Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson said he doesn't want to discuss contract negotiations but 'absolutely' wants to remain with the Ravens.
Footballguys view: The team has said they intend to sign Jackson to a long extension, but there could be differences of opinion about the amount of money, length of the contract, and amount of guaranteed money. If the Ravens and Jackson can't get something worked out before this year, he'll be going into the last year of his contract in 2027.
Lamar Jackson player page
Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson and QB Shedeur Sanders are the main candidates for the starting quarterback job, but offensive coordinator Travis Switzer said there is no favorite for the job at this point. Switzer said the team is happy with the progress of both quarterbacks.
Footballguys view: This is a different tone from long time Browns beat writer Mary Kay Cabot's report making it sound like Watson was the likely Week 1 starter earlier in the offseason and a recent report from ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that Watson had a "leg up" in the competition. We'll put more weight on what the coaches say for now, but know that the veteran does have an advantage because the team is installing a new offense. No matter who wins the job, the Browns are probably going to be in the market for a new starting quarterback next year.
Deshaun Watson player page
Tennessee Titans first-round draft choice DE Keldric Faulk signed a four-year contract with the Titans Wednesday, May 27. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Footballguys view: The Titans were high enough on Faulk to trade back into the first round to land him. Faulk has a very high ceiling because of his size, strength, and athleticism. He can play inside and outside on the defensive line and Robert Saleh's staff be able to develop him in multiple roles, which could be anywhere from putting his hand on the ground and lining head up on a guard to standing up at outside linebacker.
New York Giants first-round draft choice LB Arvell Reese signed a four-year contract with the Giants Friday, May 29. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Link to storyLas Vegas Raiders TE Brock Bowers told the media on Friday, May 29, he expects to be 'the standard' in the team's new offense and to do that, he needs to stay healthy in 2026.
Link to storyDetroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) is working his way back but will not be practicing in the team's OTAs, according to head coach Dan Campbell.
Footballguys view: LaPorta's surgery was for a herniated disc in his back, which on the less worrisome side of the range of reasons a player has to have back surgery. We'll be watching his recovery in camp. If LaPorta isn't 100% to begin the season, Jameson Williams could have a big September.
