1. NE - Mac Jones earning respect

Source: The Providence Journal - Mark Daniels

New England Patriots QB Mac Jones is steadily making an impression in the team's OTAs, head coach Bill Belichick said Friday, June 4. 'He's working hard. He puts in a lot of time (and) certainly giving his very best effort to do everything we've asked him to do and do it the way we've asked him to do it, which is a great place to start,' Belichick said of the rookie first-round pick. 'He's earned a lot of respect for that. But he's got a long way to go. We'll see how it goes.'

Jones will get more opportunities to impress while Cam Newton is nursing a hand injury. The team will have to make some hard choices on the offense they install based on their belief of which quarterback will start more games this year, but Jones could make that decision even harder with good practices.

2. NE - QB Cam Newton sidelined at OTAs

Source: NBC Sports Boston - Phil Perry

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton (wrist) appeared to injure his right wrist or hand an hour into the team's OTA practice session Friday, June 4, and didn't return. He was seen flexing his wrist and simulating a throw follow-through afterward.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton isn't in an official quarterback battle with first round pick Mac Jones, but if Jones impresses while Newton possibly misses time, that could change. Damien Harris' ADP would spike if Newton ends up losing out to Jones because Newton is the first option at the goal line - that would open up a big touchdown opportunity for Harris.

3. DET - Offense built for QB Jared Goff

Source: The Detroit News - Justin Rogers

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff will be running an offense catered to his strengths, according to offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, and Lynn said the offense will be much different than the one Goff ran with the Los Angeles Rams.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynn's comments could be seen as slightly provocative as it appeared that Sean McVay scaled back the Rams pass offense to at least avoid Goff's weaknesses, if not play to his strengths. Either way, T.J. Hockenson and fourth-round pick Amon-Ra St. Brown should align well with Goff's hot zones.

4. GB - AJ Dillon poised for success?

Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers RB AJ Dillon believes he is ready for a larger role in the offense in his second season. 'You can see he's a lot more comfortable,' RB Aaron Jones said. 'He has the playbook down, and he's just ready to go out there and fly around. I'm excited to suit up with him.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dillon may steal some goal line looks and early down carries from Aaron Jones, but Jones will take up all of the vacated passing down snaps from Jamaal Williams' departure, which will probably result in a net increase in Jones value. Dillon is more of an injury upside play than a standalone value for now.

5. WAS - QB Kyle Allen still recovering

Source: The Washington Post - Sam Fortier

Washington Football Team QB Kyle Allen (ankle) said he still isn't 100 percent as he continues to rehab from a broken ankle, and he didn't want to put a timetable on his recovery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is probably behind Taylor Heinecke on the depth chart anyway, but it doesn't sound like he's ready to push for the backup job.

6. NE - WR Marvin Hall added by Pats

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free agent WR Marvin Hall (Browns) on Friday, June 4, signed with the New England Patriots, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hall has a chance to make the team because he provides field-stretching speed and tactical value in a limited role, but he would have to do enough to beat out seventh round pick Tre Nixon, and convince the team to carry seven wide receivers.

7. NFL - Interest in DT Geno Atkins ample

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free agent DT Geno Atkins (Bengals) is expected to be recovered from his torn rotator cuff by July 1. Atkins is scheduled for a visit with the Dallas Cowboys' team doctor in a later in June, and multiple teams also are interested, according a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Atkins should be a great addition to a defensive line rotation even though he probably isn't a core piece any longer. The Cowboys could definitely use his talents as they rebuild their defense.

8. LAR - Jacob Harris signs rookie deal

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Los Angeles Rams TE Jacob Harris on Friday, June 4, signed his four-year rookie contract, the team announced.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Harris is a size/speed threat and the fact that he was announced as a tight end at the draft shows that the Rams want to develop him in the Gerald Everett role. Tight end has a much lower bar for fantasy relevance, so he should be of interest in deep dynasty leagues and tight end premium dynasty leagues.

9. ATL - TE Hayden Hurst motivated for 2021

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter

Atlanta Falcons TE Hayden Hurst will be a free agent following the 2021 season after his fifth-year option wasn't picked up, and he's aiming for a strong showing. 'It's a big year for me, now,' Hurst said Thursday, June 3. 'Obviously, being a free agent at the end of the year. I've got my priorities in line, and I know what I need to do this year.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hurst is in a tough spot with Kyle Pitts in town, but if Julio Jones is traded, he'll be in line for more snaps and targets in a two tight end offense. Hurst's fantasy value is on life support right now, but he's right to be looking to his next team for possible growth.

10. NYJ - Mekhi Becton dealing with foot woes

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New York Jets OT Mekhi Becton (foot) will be off his feet for a few weeks due to plantar fasciitis, but he will not requiresurgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This injury is basically a pain tolerance injury, so rest will help, but probably not ensure that Becton won't have to deal with this during the season. He played through pain last year, so it's not a huge concern unless we hear it is sidelining him in camp too.

11. NYJ - WR Jamison Crowder has contract issue

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

New York Jets WR Jamison Crowder is not attending the team's current OTAs as he is 'working though' contract matters, head coach Robert Saleh said Friday, June 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crowder is due 10 million this year, which is too much for his services, especially since the team made a lot of big acquisitions at wide receiver this offseason. He and team are negotiating a pay cut and if he's smart he'll take it since the free agent market is ice cold right now. If Crowder is released, Elijah Moore could be set for a big rookie season.
