Some thought Jackson was on the verge of being released after posting anti-Semitic messages on his Instagram. With this apology his job with the Eagles could be safe. The original story is below.

2. PHI - WR DeSean Jackson's days numbered in Philly?

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson could be nearing the end of his time with the team for anti-Semitic comments he recently posted on one of his social media accounts. ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the team's decision to keep Jackson on the roster could come down to whether or not the nature of the posts he made is a 'default' under his contract.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Schefter, who also reports Jackson is guaranteed $4.8 million in salary in 2020 and has already received a $2 million option bonus, suggests the Eagles could try to figure out a way to recoup his guaranteed salary first before parting ways with the receiver.

3. NE - RB Rex Burkhead restructures

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead restructured his contract Tuesday, July 7. He received a $550,000 signing bonus and lowered his base salary from $2.5 million to $1.05 million. He can earn $400,000 in roster bonuses, which was reduced from $500,000. The move created $981,250 in salary cap space.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burkhead likely had to do this to help his chances of making the 53-man roster. He'll serve as a do-everything back who is battling for the no.3 spot on the depth chart behind Sony Michel and James White.

Tabor (foot) recently underwent surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his foot, according to a source. He is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season. We should see some team interested in him after the start of the regular season but just as veteran depth.

5. CLE - DE Olivier Vernon restructures

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Cleveland Browns LB Olivier Vernon restructured his contract Tuesday, July 7. Vernon, who was previously due $15.25 million non-guaranteed, receives $11 million guaranteed through a $7 million signing bonus, a $3.75 million base salary and a $250,000 workout bonus. He can earn $2 million more from incentives.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was plenty of buzz about the Browns moving on from Vernon before this restructure. The team had interest in free agent pass-rusher Jadeveon Clowney this offseason but that now might not be the case. Vernon has a no-tag clause in this restructured deal which means he's going to hit the open market in 2021.

6. NFL - Browns out on DE Jadeveon Clowney?

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Free-agent LB Jadeveon Clowney isn't believed to be a potential target of the Cleveland Browns any longer, after they were able to agree to a restructured contract with LB Olivier Vernon, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times Tuesday, July 7.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Once the deal with Vernon was redone, most understood this would likely be the end of their pursuit of Clowney. The Browns were supposed to have the largest offer of any team interested in the former no.1 overall pick. Clowney now has the Seahawks and the Raiders known as the primary teams interested in his services.

7. NE - RB Rex Burkhead unlikely to be cut?

Source: NESN.com - Sean T. McGuire

Updating a previous story, New England Patriots RB Rex Burkhead will 'almost certainly play the final year of his three-year contract' after agreeing to restructure his deal and create just shy of $1 million in cap space Tuesday, July 7, according to Sean T. McGuire of NESN.com.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's why guys restructure their contracts. Burkhead reworked his deal and his role will remain nearly the same with the team. He's the no.3 back (at best) behind Sony Michel and James White.

8. LAC - WR Mike Williams excels in small windows

Source: Next Gen Stats - James Koh

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams ranked second in yards while catching 47 percent of tight-window throws sent in his direction in 2019.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams knows how to use his large frame to keep smaller defenders away from the ball. He also has long arms and strong hands to reach out and snare passes that others might let get through their grasp. Williams should be a favorite target of Tyrod Taylor (or Justin Herbert) in 2020.
