1. NYG - RB Saquon Barkley shut down on perimeter in 2019

Source: Sports Info Solutions

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley averaged only 2.1 yards per carry on runs outside the tackles in 2019 after picking up 4.4 yards per attempt on such runs as a rookie.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants had a poor offensive line last year and that's one of the reasons why we saw Barkley struggle at times in year two. Add in the fact that he was banged up for most of the year and missed three games, and you can see why Barkley's numbers didn't get close to the amazing output he had as a rookie in 2018. With an improved offensive line and full health, Barkley could easily be in for a bounce-back season in 2020.

2. GB - AJ Dillon came in early

Source: NBC26 - Rachel Hopmayer

Green Bay Packers second-round pick RB AJ Dillon came to Green Bay in early May to begin working and studying the playbook.

Dillon is a huge power back from Boston College that could take over in the Packers backfield if the team doesn't re-sign Aaron Jones. This season is the final year of his contract, but Jones agent says he's been in consistent contact with the team. In 2020, Dillon will back up Jones and get some work in short-yardage and perhaps even goal-line situation.

3. LAR - Cam Akers taking part in workouts

Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue

Los Angeles Rams RB Cam Akers has started to participate in workouts with QB Jared Goff in Los Angeles, according to Goff.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Akers is an exciting rookie running back to watch. He's got a good rushing style which features contact balance and vision. Akers is not as good of a receiver as you'd like and will be working in a RBBC this season. We'll see how he stacks up against Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown in training camp and the preseason.

4. NO - New Orleans may use more two TE sets

Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill

New Orleans Saints TE Adam Trautman may allow the team to use more two-tight end sets this upcoming season, according to tight ends coach Dan Campbell.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see how the rookie from Dayton gets mixed in this year. Trautman is going to compete for a spot backing up Jared Cook. Both are dangerous receiving threats, so perhaps there will be times when Cook and Trautman are on the field together.

5. LAR - QB Jared Goff working with teammates

Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff said he has been working out with some of his teammates during the shutdown and has been working to his receivers for a while.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another quarterback working with his receivers here. Insert the standard 'this should help chemistry' take. However, with Goff there needs to be improvement off a down season in 2019. He threw the heck out of the ball but was not an efficient passer. Goff is a QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs.

6. NYJ - RB Frank Gore gets it done on inside runs

Source: Sports Info Solutions

New York Jets RB Frank Gore averaged 4.6 yards per carry on runs in between the guards as a member of the Buffalo Bills in 2019 - tied for the ninth-best mark among all players with at least 100 total carries.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gore does what he does best -- grind and pound in between the tackles. He'll be working as the primary backup to Le'Veon Bell in 2020 and should get some work on rushing downs, including some time near pay dirt and on third-and-short situations.

7. IND - QB Philip Rivers throwing passes to teammates

Source: The Athletic - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QB Philip Rivers said he has been working out with WR Parris Campbell and TE Jack Doyle over the last few days.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

What does Rivers have left in the tank? That's the largest question for this upcoming season when it comes to the veteran quarterback. He was throwing interceptions left and right in 2019 and needs to cut down on those turnovers this season. We'll see if these workouts help him have quick chemistry with his new teammates.

8. WAS - Antonio Gibson could see variety of special work

Source: NBC Sports Washington - Ethan Cadeaux

Washington Redskins third-round pick RB/WR Antonio Gibson will be used as a returner and a blocker on special teams. 'In an ideal setting, if you have a legitimate returner [Steven Sims] and your off-returner [Gibson], who is 30 pounds bigger than your returner, if he doesn't get the ball he becomes a blocker,' special teams coach Nate Kaczor said. 'And he weighs 220 [pounds]. That's a really good situation. If they don't really want to kick it to one guy and they want to kick it to your other one and he's really good, then you have a heck of a situation there.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gibson was one of the most versatile players in the 2020 NFL draft. He's a running back but he can play slot receiver if need be. Washington has a jam-packed backfield if guys like Derrius Guice stay healthy. We'll see Gibson worked into the mix as a reserve back and part-time receiver.
