1. PHI - QB Carson Wentz trade on deck
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen
Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz is expected to be traded 'in the coming days,' per sources, ESPN's Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen reported Saturday, Feb. 6.

If Schefter and Mortensen are reporting it, then you can count on it happening in the near future. Frank Reich and the Indianapolis Colts make the most sense for Wentz. He worked under Reich, and played well, when the two were with the Eagles. Having better protection, which the Colts O-Line can provide, could help Wentz get his career back on track.
2. PHI - Philly seeks 2 No. 1 picks for Wentz
Source: BostonSportsJournal.com - Greg A. Bedard
Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz is on the trade block, and the Eagles are reportedly asking for a pair of first-round draft picks in exchange. That has led some teams to lose interest, according to Greg Bedard of the Boston Sports Journal.

A deal for Wentz is coming in the near future. In fact, some reports indicate a deal could be done for Wentz as soon as next week. Stay tuned, as most expect the Colts to land him as their starting quarterback for the 2021 season.
3. NO - QB Drew Brees renegotiates deal
Source: OverTheCap.com -- Jason Fitzgerald
New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees has agreed to renegotiate his contract to open up around $24 million in cap space for 2021, according to a source.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A move made by Brees to help out the Saints with their cap situation. He was on the books for $25 million and now is set for the $1.1 million vet minimum. Brees is expected to announce his retirement in the near future. The Saints won't have much cap space to work with this offseason. If they can afford him, there's a chance they bring back Jameis Winston to compete with Taysom Hill to be the starter in 2021.
4. CLE - TE David Njoku unhappy with PT
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot
Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku has declined to say if wants to be back with the team next season. 'I just found myself in a position where I'm upset with the playing time, but this team that I'm on is winning and I don't want to ruin it for anybody else around me,' Njoku said Friday, Feb. 4, in an interview on the Jim Rome Show. 'I don't want to ruin it for myself.'
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Njoku played 873 snaps in 2018 (16 games), and last year he played just 410 snaps in 11 games. The Browns seemingly moved on from Njoku when they picked up Austin Hooper in free agency last year then drafted Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL draft. We'll see Njoku likely playing elsewhere in 2021. If he can stay healthy, the ability to post low-end TE1 numbers (like he did in 2018) is still there.
5. DAL - CeeDee Lamb played well in slot
Source: ProFootballFocus.com
Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb caught 12 passes of at least 20 yards when lined up in the slot this season, which was most in the NFL.

Lamb just flashed what he could do as a rookie. It's the tip of the iceberg in terms of impact he can have as a pro, whether it's from the slot or the outside.
6. WAS - QB Kyle Allen will be ready for camp
Source: NBC Sports Washington - Julius Long
Washington Football Team QB Kyle Allen (ankle) said he probably needs another two months to recover from his surgery but will be ready for training camp.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Allen will be out there and perhaps competing for the starting job. We'll see what Washington does with Alex Smith and if they're in the market for a quarterback through trade, free agency or the draft.
7. SF - RB Jerick McKinnon expecting new team
Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Jessica Kleinschmidt
San Francisco 49ers RB Jerick McKinnon, a pending unrestricted free agent, has said several times recently that he does not expect to be back with the 49ers next season.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
No surprise here. McKinnon signed with the 49ers a few years ago and then missed two full seasons due to injury. He was finally out there for the 49ers last year and posted 319 rushing yards, 253 receiving yards and six total touchdowns working in the team's RBBC. Some team could be interested in McKinnon as a change-of-pace back.
That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
Peace,
J
