1. LAC - Justin Herbert named ROY

Source: NFL.com

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert won the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year award Thursday, Feb. 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Herbert was fantastic as a rookie. He wasn't expecting to start when he did, but stepped in for an injured Tyrod Taylor and did not look back. Herbert was steady under pressure, and he was blitzed a lot in his first season. That pressure didn't bother him and he leaned on the talent around him. We're excited about his future in the NFL.

2. TB - Full practice for WR Antonio Brown

Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Feb. 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown has been out of action with this knee injury for some time. The Buccaneers have been resting him with the idea he could be ready for the Super Bowl. It seems like that's the case.

3. KC - Another full day of work for QB Patrick Mahomes

Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (toe) practiced in full Thursday, Feb. 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The toe is not a problem anymore. It wasn't ever really a problem for Mahomes, and he has shown toughness working through this nagging injury.

4. TB - Extension for QB Tom Brady?

Source: Miami Herald - Adam Beasley

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady's contract with the team runs through the 2021 season, but head coach Bruce Arians said Thursday, Feb. 4, that he 'wouldn't be surprised' if Brady is given an extension beyond that.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady wants to play through his age-45 season. That means he'd be playing in 2022, and that means the Buccaneers would have to put one more year on his deal. With the way that Brady is playing, the team might do just that.

5. TB - WR Antonio Brown "looks good"

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown (knee) moved around well during practice Thursday, Feb. 4, according to head coach Bruce Arians, who added that a key will be how much, if any, swelling Brown experiences Friday as a result of Thursday's work.

6. DEN - Jerry Jeudy seeks improvement

Source: Denver7 Sports - Troy Renck

Denver Broncos Wr Jerry Jeudy on Thursday, Feb. 4, said he's aiming to improve this offseason. 'At the end of the day. I can't control the QB,' Jeudy said. 'I can only focus on me and what I need to do to get better, making easier for the QB to make the throw. I don't put it on the QB.' .

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jeudy had nine drops as a rookie, and he didn't play up to his potential. He ran great routes and got open with ease, but Jeudy and QB Drew Lock seemed to have a connection that needed work. They didn't gel enough in 2020 and who knows if they'll get the chance in 2021. The Broncos are reportedly 'all in' on Deshaun Watson and that could mean Lock is dealt. Obviously, adding Watson would be great news for Jeudy.

7. KC - WR Sammy Watkins still limited

Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (calf) remained a limited participant in practice Thursday, Feb. 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Friday is the big day to watch and see if Watkins can practice fully.

8. TB - WR Mike Evans practices in full

Source: Buccaneers.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (knee) fully participated in practice Thursday, Feb. 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Evans will be at full strength for the Super Bowl...or as close as you can be at this time of year. We'll see how much QB Tom Brady goes after the star receiver and how much time he'll have to throw. The quarterback who deals with pressure better will likely be the victor on Sunday.

9. ARI - Cole McDonald lands futures deal

Source: AZCardinals.com

Free agent QB Cole McDonald (Titans) on Thursday, Dec. 4, signed a futures contract with the Arizona Cardinals.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McDonald put up a ton of numbers in college for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. He does have the athleticism to evade the rush and has no problem challenging a defense. McDonald was a seventh-round pick of the Titans in the 2020 NFL draft, but he didn't make it through training camp. We'll monitor him but only in crazy deep dynasty formats.

10. CHI - WR Allen Robinson could be tagged

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears WR Allen Robinson could receive the franchise tag this offseason, in the opinion of Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, who writes that the odds are 'much greater than not' that the Bears use the tag on Robinson.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Robinson, like every other player, will not want the franchise tag. He's expressed his frustrations with the Bears offense and the team doesn't seem close to making the type of changes they'd need to in order to change Robinson's mind. Robinson would be a hot commodity if he hit the open market.

11. PHI - QB Carson Wentz receiving interest

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo

Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz has been the subject of calls fielded by the team from interested suitors. The Eagles haven't shopped him, but they are listening.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles will always be listening because GM Howie Roseman loves the art of the trade. The team chose Wentz over former head coach Doug Pederson, but things seem like they're not yet fully patched up. With the quarterback market heating up, expect a lot of teams to consider moving on...and that means Wentz could be dealt.

12. LVR - QB Nathan Peterman staying in Vegas

Source: Raiders.com

Las Vegas Raiders QB Nathan Peterman signed a one-year contract extension to remain with the team Thursday, Feb. 4. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Raiders head coach Jon Gruden loves Peterman. Take that for what it's worth. Peterman will work as a reserve quarterback once again for the Raiders, but who knows who he will be backing up. The Raiders are reportedly serious about moving on from Derek Carr and making a run at Deshaun Watson.

13. KC - Clyde Edwards-Helaire goes full again

Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle, hip) practiced in full Thursday, Feb. 4.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The rookie first-round pick is going to get out there for the Chiefs once again as their lead back. Who knows how much the Chiefs are going to try and run against the Buccaneers in the Super Bowl. They'll attack the Bucs defense with their high-flying passing attack, leaving little work (as a runner) for Edwards-Helaire. He'll be involved as a receiver out of the backfield.

14. KC - WR Demarcus Robinson remains negative

Source: Around The NFL

Kansas City Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson remains on the Reserve/COVID-19 list as a close contact but continued to test negative for the virus Thursday, Feb. 4, and could rejoin the team as soon as Friday with another negative test.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Robinson can get back out there before the Super Bowl. He is well versed in the offense and would be able to step into his part-time role and be a big-play weapon for QB Patrick Mahomes. We'll know more on Friday.

15. NYG - Jason Garrett likely to return as OC

Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett is expected to remain in his post for a second season, according to multiple sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Congrats Giants fans! All sarcasm aside, the Giants may be keeping Garrett but they need changes on offense. They couldn't run the ball effectively, had an inconsistent passing attack and were among the lowest-scoring teams in the league. We're not sure that Garrett is the guy to turn things around.

16. NYG - NYG unlikely to pursue QB Deshaun Watson

Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson is not expected to receive any interest from the New York Giants in trade discussions, according to multiple sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants are sticking with Daniel Jones as their starter. It will be his third season in 2021 and the team wants him to take that third-year leap. We'll see if he can play with more consistency and continue to grow as a passer in 2021 which is clearly a make-or-break season for the Giants QB.

17. CHI - Chicago a longshot for QB Deshaun Watson?

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

The Chicago Bears could struggle to put together an attractive package for Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson, in the opinion of Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, who notes the team doesn't have a high first-round pick this year and is short on young, high-end talent with attractive contracts.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans may want at least a couple of first-round picks, a couple of second-round picks and a couple of defensive starters. The Bears will have to line up behind several other teams and it seems like they don't have the firepower to get in the mix. Serious contenders for Watson include the Broncos, Dolphins, Jets and Raiders.

18. ATL - Atlanta expects QB Matt Ryan, WR Julio Jones back

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones are expected to remain with the team in 2021, according to comments made by team owner Arthur Blank during an interview with NFL Network reporter Andrew Siciliano.'I'd be shocked, completely shocked if (Ryan) is not. It really has nothing to do with his contract. Matt has played at a very high level for us since 2008 when we drafted him. Matt can still play at a very high level so we expect him to be a Falcon next year, fully. Same question was raised regarding Jones and we expect Julio to be a Falcon next year and play at a very high level as well. . . . They'll both be with us,' Blank said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blank is reportedly locked in with Ryan, and he wants to see him continue as the starter. However, the buzz is that he will let new GM Terry Fontenot make that ultimate decision. There's a good chance the Falcons could take a quarterback in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft and then groom him behind Ryan for a year.

19. DET - RB Adrian Peterson set for another year in Detroit?

Source: LionsWire - Jeff Risdon

Detroit Lions RB Adrian Peterson is set to become a free agent at the end of the league year, but fellow RB D'Andre Swift has made it clear he would like to see the soon-to-be 36-year-old return to the team for another year.'I definitely want him back,' Swift told CBS Sports while noting that he 'picked (Peterson's) brain' throughout his rookie year.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions are going to run the ball early and often. With QB Jared Goff under center, expect new offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn to set up the rushing attack to be the primary feature in the offense. That means plenty of work for Swift, but keeping a guy like Peterson would make sense too.
