3. SEA - QB Russell Wilson in on OC talks
4. NE - WR Julian Edelman may return in 2021
5. CLE - WR Ryan Switzer signed to futures deal
1. KC - QB Patrick Mahomes' toe not an issue
Source: Chiefs Digest - Matt Derrick
Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (toe) said Friday, Jan. 22, the toe injury he suffered in the AFC Divisional Round against the Cleveland Browns is 'feeling a lot better.'
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
What else is he supposed to say? We're sure that Mahomes is going to give it his all with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line. However, we will also be watching closely to see if this toe problem springs up again. It can impact how much and how effective he scrambles plus it can effect his pass placement.
2. MIA - QB Charlie Frye is new QB coach
Source: MiamiDolphins.com
Central Michigan offensive coordinator Charlie Frye on Saturday, Jan. 23, was announced as the Miami Dolphins' new quarterbacks coach. In a corresponding move, the Dolphins announced they've parted ways with quarterbacks coach Robby Brown.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Frye is a former NFL quarterback and he was an athletic passer who could make plays on the run. We'll see how he works with Tua Tagovailoa in his second season.
3. SEA - QB Russell Wilson in on OC talks
Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta
Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said he has been involved in talks for candidates to fill the offensive coordinator opening. 'I think it's vital, it's critical, super significant, obviously, that I'm a part of that process,' Wilson said. 'Coach and I have definitely been talking about that, (general manager John Schneider) too as well. We've had some ... great dialogue about the thought process of who we want, the leader ... the innovator, all that kind of different stuff that you want. I think that's the super critical thing, obviously at this point in my career because you spend every day with that person.'

That's what smart teams do...they include their superstar quarterback in the process. Wilson should be involved in who they hire for offensive coordinator. The team can use balance to attack defenses, but the next system needs to be as Wilson-friendly as possible.
4. NE - WR Julian Edelman may return in 2021
Source: NESN.com - Doug Kyed
New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman indicated in a recent interview that he is planning to play in 2021.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Edelman is under contract through the 2021 season. He's got a cap number of $6.6 million and there is $2.6 million remaining in dead money. Edelman is planning to play next season, but we'll have to see if the Patriots want to bring him back at that price.
5. CLE - WR Ryan Switzer signed to futures deal
Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Ryan Switzer has been signed to the Reserve/Futures list on a one-year contract.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Switzer is a slot receiver who can get open underneath with quickness. He can work on special teams as well. Switzer hasn't done much as he's bounced around the league for a few years.
6. GB - QB Aaron Rodgers excels in clean pocket
Source: Pro Football Focus
Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers leads the league this season with 42 touchdown passes throwing from a clean pocket, per Pro Football Focus data.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Rodgers will slice up a defense under duress or in a clean pocket. It's not a surprise he was dealing this year when his protection was good.
7. NYJ - QB Deshaun Watson reportedly prefers NYJ
Source: The Miami Herald - Armando Salguero
Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson reportedly said earlier this week that the New York Jets are his top preference among the teams he'd like to be traded to because of their recent hiring of head coach Robert Saleh, according to a report Saturday, Jan. 23, from the Miami Herald.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Saleh was considered by some to be the 'gem' of the potential head-coaching candidates that were out there. Watson has a no-trade clause so he will get to choose the team he wants to be traded to. We'll see if the Jets in fact put together a blockbuster deal, likely to include Sam Darnold, for Watson at some point this offseason.
That'll do it for today, Folks.
Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
Peace,
