1. KC - QB Patrick Mahomes making progress

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (concussion, toe) cleared 'some big steps' Tuesday, Jan. 19, but remains in the league's concussion protocol with what is considered a concussion.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's early, but this has to be seen as good news for the Chiefs. According to sources via ESPN's Adam Schefter, it is still 'too early to say that he definitely will play' against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship. We'll know more about Mahomes status later in the week.

2. TB - WR Antonio Brown should be fine

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Antonio Brown (knee) is day to day with what is considered a minor knee injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Buccaneers here. Brown hasn't done a whole lot with Tampa, but that could change in a moments notice. He's a favorite of QB Tom Brady and the Buccaneers will need all hands on deck as they travel to face the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.

3. LAR - QB Jared Goff on shaky ground in LA?

Source: NFL.com - Nick Shook

Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff's recent inconsistent play has left his status as the starting quarterback for the 2021 season in the air and may lead the team to bring in someone who can push him, according to comments made by the NFL Network's Steve Wyche.'The people I've spoken to said basically at this moment the relationship with Goff and (head coach Sean) McVay: not great. They need marriage counseling is what one person said to me. I think this is something that they're going to be able to work through, but there's got to be some healing and that's not just with Jared Goff's injured thumb,' Wyche said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Goff and McVay need an offseason like Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and QB Aaron Rodgers had last year. LeFleur and Rodgers did not look to be on the same page at times in 2019, and in 2020 they went out and secured the no.1 seed in the NFC and now sit one game away from the Super Bowl. Goff is no Rodgers, but he fought through injury in the playoffs and didn't look as bad as some had feared. We'll see if things can smooth over with some time away before offseason work starts later in the spring.

4. WAS - Marty Hurney the WAS GM

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Former Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney is finalizing a deal to become the Washington Football Team's general manager Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington wanted to find a GM who could work with Ron Rivera, so why not get the guy who worked with him closely with the Panthers. Hurney is not an exciting hire and he's made several questionable decisions when it came to building up the Panthers roster.

5. BUF - Zack Moss has ankle procedure

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss (ankle) underwent a minor surgical procedure on his ankle Tuesday, Jan. 19, according to his representation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moss was lost for the postseason in the Wild Card Round due to this ankle injury. The Bills didn't really want to run the ball in the Divisional Round against the Ravens, and we'll see if Devin Singletary gets more work in the AFC Championship against the Chiefs on Sunday. Moss is expected to be ready for offseason workouts and training camp.

6. DEN - QB Drew Lock on shaky ground?

Source: The Denver Post - Kyle Fredrickson

Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock is a player that president of football operations John Elway is 'still high on,' but Elway indicated Tuesday, Jan. 19, that new general manager George Paton 'will continue to look to fill that spot if we don't think that Drew is that guy.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That sounds about right. Lock did look better as the 2020 season went on but he was only able to look good against bad defenses like the Panthers or the Raiders. He still struggles way too much under pressure and it looked like he was working with a reduced playbook later in the year. The Broncos gave Lock the 2020 season to see if he could be 'the guy' for them, and he failed to impress. They are at least going to bring in competition at the quarterback position if not out-and-out replace Lock as the starter for 2021.

7. TEN - WR A.J. Brown undergoes surgery

Source: WKRN-TV - Emily Proud

Tennessee Titans WR A.J. Brown (knees) underwent surgery on both knees Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown suffered this knee problem early in the year, and he was still able to play through the pain and get another 1,000-yard season. The Titans passing game has guys like WR Corey Davis and TE Jonnu Smith heading to free agency. That leaves Brown as their no.1 wide receiver and a WR1 consideration for Fantasy GMs in 2021.

8. PHI - Nick Sirianni meeting with Philly

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni is reportedly interviewing with the Philadelphia Eagles for their head coaching vacancy Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles could use a spark with this head-coaching hire and that might come from Sirianni. He worked with Colts head coach Frank Reich both in San Diego and Indianapolis and is seen as a fast-riser in coaching circles. Sirianni would be tasked with getting QB Carson Wentz back on track, and based on what he's done with a limited Philip Rivers we'd be interested to see if he could do that.

9. BAL - Baltimore parts with RB Mark Ingram

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Mark Ingram was officially waived Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Ravens have J.K. Dobbins to lead their backfield into the future. Add in Gus Edwards behind him, and you can see why the Ravens decided to move on from Ingram...although the timing here is a bit interesting. The move clears up $5 million in much-needed cap space for the Ravens. Ingram still has something left in the tank, so some team out there should be interested for the 2021 season as he can be quality veteran depth.

10. BUF - QB Josh Allen best against the blitz

Source: Pro Football Focus

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen has thrown for league-best marks of 1,907 yards and 19 touchdowns against the blitz this season, according to Pro Football Focus.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen has really flourished this year as a passer, and the Bills have become one of the most pass-happy teams in the league because of it. He's helped greatly by WR Stefon Diggs, but even guys further down the depth chart like WR Gabriel Davis can come through for Allen when the pressure is on.

11. NO - WR Michael Thomas requires surgeries

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) is likely to have multiple surgeries on the torn deltoid and other injured ligaments in his high ankle this offseason.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas worked through a high-ankle sprain for most of the seven games he played in the regular season. He came back for the playoffs because he didn't want to miss out on the (likely) final playoff run of Drew Brees. Now, Thomas has plenty of time to get back to full strength and then work with whoever the new starter in New Orleans is next season.

12. ATL - Arthur Smith to serve as own play-caller

Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Will McFadden

Atlanta Falcons new head coach Arthur Smith told reporters Tuesday, Jan. 19, that he intends to call his own plays on offense in his new role.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith was able to work wonders with the Titans offense, and his scheme worked really well for QB Ryan Tannehill. We're excited to see what he can do with guys like QB Matt Ryan, WR Julio Jones and WR Calvin Ridley.

13. DET - Detroit fills DC void with CB Aaron Glenn

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New Orleans Saints secondary coach Aaron Glenn is expected to be named as the Detroit Lions' defensive coordinator, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Glenn will have his work cut out for him with the Lions void of talent on the defensive side of the ball. He worked for the last five years with new Lions head coach Dan Campbell and brings a lot of quality experience with him even though he's only been in the coaching world for seven years.

14. PHI - QB Kellen Moore meeting with Philadelphia

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is interviewing with the Philadelphia Eagles in regards to their head coaching vacancy Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Moore has been seen as a future head coach for some time. He's on his way to being a head coach in the NFL, and at 31-years old the Eagles could get him signed as that guy. We'll see how he interviews and if the Eagles go in that direction. They need to find someone who can get QB Carson Wentz back on track and work closely with GM Howie Roseman.

15. PHI - Philadelphia set to talk with Dennis Allen

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is scheduled to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles regarding their head coaching vacancy Wednesday, Jan. 20.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is looking to get a second chance as a head coach after struggling as the lead man for the Raiders years ago. He's been running one of the league's best defenses with the Saints since 2015. Even though he's got a strong resume, Eagles fans would likely see this as an underwhelming hire after the team decided to part ways with Doug Pederson.

16. LAR - LA Rams block Kevin O'Connell from interview

Source: MMQB - Albert Breer

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O'Connell will not be allowed to interview for the offensive coordinator vacancy with the Los Angeles Chargers for now after the Rams denied the request based on the fact it would be a lateral move. However, the 'lines of communications remain open, so things could change,' according to Albert Breer of The MMQB.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a lateral move so Rams coach Sean McVay can block the request. Former Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley takes over as the Chargers head coach, and he wanted to pluck some guys from the Rams staff to go along with him.

17. LAR - Raheem Morris primed for DC job with LA Rams?

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Raheem Morris is reportedly nearing a deal to become the new defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Rams will need to replace former DC Brandon Staley who went on to become the Chargers head coach. Morris got a chance as the interim coach with the Falcons last year but did not get that job, instead the Falcons went with Arthur Smith as their new head coach. Morris has a fine scheme and should fit in with the Rams.

18. CLE - RB John Kelly inks futures deal with Cleveland

Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Free-agent RB John Kelly signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelly followed up Alvin Kamara at the University of Tennessee, and he looked good as a college back for the Volunteers. His pro career has not gone as planned with Kelly having bounced around to a few different rosters in a short amount of time. His all-purpose skill set will keep us watching him but only in super deep dynasty formats.

19. BUF - Buffalo protects four for AFC Championship

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Buffalo Bills RB Devonta Freeman, C Jonotthan Harrison, WR Kenny Stills and RB Antonio Williams were designated as protected practice squad players for the AFC Championship Tuesday, Jan. 19.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They haven't needed Stills yet as Cole Beasley has been able to play through injury during the playoffs. However, the veteran receiver is a great player to have around if you need to go deeper at the position with one -- and maybe two -- games left for the Bills this postseason.
