Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (concussion) suffered a concussion during the Divisional Round playoff game and will not return.

Mahomes was knocked from the contest and did not return. The Chiefs advanced to the AFC Championship Game which means the team will take it easy on Mahomes during the week of practice. He'll have to get through the concussion protocol in order to play. We'll have optimism Mahomes will be able to do that.
2. NO - QB Drew Brees to retire
Source: FOX Sports - Jay Glazer
New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees will retire at the end of the season.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This is what most people thought would happen and Jay Glazer is the first to officially report it. Brees is trying to win another Super Bowl with the Saints in one last hurrah.
3. NYJ - Coach optimistic about QB Sam Darnold
Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini
New York Jets QB Sam Darnold's status with the team is uncertain, but head coach Robert Saleh believes Darnold has some untapped potential after watching tape on him.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Darnold did not play up to expectations under former head coach Adam Gase. It appears like he's going to get a chance to turn things around this year under the Jets new regime.
4. BAL - QB Lamar Jackson did sustain concussion
Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra
Confirming previous reports, Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (concussion) did suffer a concussion near the end of the third quarter of the AFC Divisional Round game against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jackson was banged up against the Bills and on the play he was concussed it spelled disaster for the Ravens. He got his first playoff win in the Wild Card Round, and the Ravens had quite a few chances to win against the Bills but did not take advantage.
5. TB - TE Rob Gronkowski plans to return to Bucs
Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith
Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Rob Gronkowski said he plans to return to the Buccaneers next season.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Gronkowski will play with the Buccaneers so long as Tom Brady is there. It looks like the veteran quarterback has no plans to retire and will return for the 2021 season.
6. BAL - WR Marquise Brown hopes for balanced offense
Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley
Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown said he hopes that the Ravens have a more balanced offense next season and not have such a big difference between their rushing rankings and passing rankings.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Brown did take strides this season with the Ravens, especially as the season was into the late stages. We'll be excited to see what he can do in his third year. Brown only needs to stay healthy to produce at a star level.
7. HOU - QB Deshaun Watson has not asked for trade yet
Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio
Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson has not asked the Texans for a trade at this point, according to a source.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The key term in the headline is 'yet.' Watson's relationship with the Texans seems to be done and done. He has a no-trade clause in his contract which means the Texans cannot just send him to the highest bidder. We'll see if Watson requests the trade in the near future and picks his destination.
That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
Peace,
