1. HOU - Eric Bieniemy set to meet with Houston
Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy received a request from the Houston Texans to interview for their head-coaching position on Tuesday, Jan. 12.

This move might be too little, too late for the Texans. They missed the window to interview Bieniemy when the Chiefs were on bye. Now, they'd have to wait until after the Super Bowl (or when the Chiefs get eliminated) to talk to him. Franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson is upset, for many reasons but also because the Texans didn't initially interview Bieniemy. He's one of the hottest head-coaching candidates out there.
2. CIN - Joe Burrow nearing second phase of rehab
Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (knee) told the team's website Tuesday, Jan. 12, that he intends to resume throwing in mid-February and begin running on an underwater treadmill shortly thereafter.

It's a good sign for Burrow but he still has a long path ahead of him. He wants to be ready for the start of the 2021 regular season but that seems a bit too optimistic at this time. Burrow could miss a couple of games to start next season if his recovery is on time. If it's ahead of time, then we'll see him miss the preseason with an eye on starting the season opener.
3. BUF - Zack Moss lands on IR
Source: Buffalo Bills PR
Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Jan. 12. The Browns elevated OL Jordan Devey from the practice squad to replace him on the active roster.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Bills signed Devonta Freeman to get more help in the running back room now that Moss is done for the postseason. Devin Singletary should get a larger role, and T.J. Yeldon should work as his primary backup.
4. BUF - RB Devonta Freeman to Bills
Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Free-agent RB Devonta Freeman (Giants) was signed to the Buffalo Bills' practice squad Tuesday, Jan. 12.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Freeman's playing days aren't done yet! The Giants released Freeman from Injured Reserve on January 7th, but the Bills pick him up for their playoff run. Buffalo was prompted to do that due to the postseason-ending ankle injury to Zack Moss. Freeman is a seasoned veteran who should have a spot behind starter Devin Singletary (although we don't expect him this week against the Ravens). T.J. Yeldon should get an increased role with Moss down.
5. LVR - WR Trey Quinn scooped by Vegas
Source: Raiders.com
Free-agent WR Trey Quinn (Jaguars) was signed to a Reserve/Future contract by the Las Vegas Raiders Tuesday, Jan. 12.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
A seventh-round pick out of SMU in the 2018 NFL draft, Quinn didn't do much for the Jaguars in 2020. He did catch 26 passes in 2019 for Washington, starting six games as their slot receiver. He'll try to latch on with the Raiders now in a similar role.
6. SEA - John Schneider agrees to extension
Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle
Seattle Seahawks executive vice president and general manager John Schneider signed a multi-year contract extension on Tuesday, Jan. 12, that will keep him in his current post through the end of the 2027 NFL Draft. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Lions were sniffing around Schneider to run their team, so Seattle decides to give their GM an extension. Schneider and head coach Pete Carroll work well together. Even through early-round misses, Schneider has still found a way to get hits in free agency and some gems in the draft that others overlooked. We'll see them work to get the Seahawks defense back on track in the years to come.
7. BUF - Tuesday's practice report for Buffalo
Source: Buffalo Bills PR
Buffalo Bills DE Darryl X. Johnson (knee) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Jan. 12. WR Cole Beasley (knee), WR Stefon Diggs (oblique), LB Tremaine Edmunds (hamstring), QB Jake Fromm (non-injury), DT Ed Oliver (ankle) and DT Justin Zimmer (groin) were limited.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Diggs is the player to watch here. He was limited last week and then came out in the Wild Card Round and caught 6-of-9 targets for 128 yards and a touchdown. He'll be ready to go for the Divisional Round.
8. KC - KC inks Anthony Gordon to futures deal
Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates
Free-agent QB Anthony Gordon (Seahawks) signed a Reserve/Future contract with the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
It's an interesting move for the Chiefs, but Gordon is only a player to monitor in crazy deep dynasty formats. Gordon slung the rock all over the place in college at Washington State in the 2019 season, finishing with over 5,500 yards passing and 48 passing touchdowns. That's the similar 'Air Raid' system that Patrick Mahomes played in during his college days at Texas Tech.
9. GB - Jared Veldheer officially signs with Green Bay
Source: Packers.com
Updating a previous story, Indianapolis Colts OT Jared Veldheer was officially signed off of the practice squad by the Green Bay Packers Tuesday, Jan. 12.
[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
COVID practice squad rules have made for some interesting moves this season. Veldheer is now the first player in NFL history to play for two teams in the same postseason after starting in the Colts' Wild Card loss to Buffalo. He's going to be a reserve to Billy Turner at left tackle for the Packers.
That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
Peace,
J
