News And Notes From Around The League

Howdy Folks,

Here we go. We've got some News and Notes for you as we jump into the games.

Let's go.

1. NO - WR Michael Thomas a GTD

Source: Chargers.com

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas (ankle) was limited Saturday, Oct. 10, and is questionable. He's a game-time decision.

It's tough as the Saints game is Monday night. Thomas was listed questionable by the Saints after Saturday's workout and the tone of the New Orleans' beat writers is changing. ESPN's Mike Triplett tweeted, "It looks like there is a good chance...Thomas will play since he has practiced for two weeks and got upgraded to questionable." I don't expect the Saints to address Thomas' condition. Hopefully, Adam Schefter adds another positive note on Thomas among his Saturday evening injury reports.

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) was activated Saturday, Oct. 10, from the Reserve/Injured list.

Good news for Bell as we expect him to be out there doing what he can on an offense that needs some playmakers.

3. NE - NE hasn't decided on starting QB for Week 5

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots QB Cam Newton has not been ruled out of starting Week 5's game versus the Denver Broncos, even though he will not practice Saturday, Oct. 10, according to head coach Bill Belichick. 'I'm not getting into a bunch of hypotheticals,' Belichick said, when asked about who would be the starting quarterback if Newton was unable to play Monday, Oct. 12. 'We're taking it day by day, hour by hour.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see what the Patriots do here. Newton may not be able to play since testing positive for COVID-19. The Patriots may just go with Jarrett Stidham as their starter against the Broncos on Monday.

4. CLE - TE David Njoku activated

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (knee) on Saturday, Oct. 10, was officially activated from the Reserve/Injured list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Njoku is back in action for the Browns this week. However, he's working third in the pecking order behind Austin Hooper and rookie Harrison Bryant.

5. DEN - KJ Hamler absent Saturday

Source: The Denver Post - Ryan O'Halloran

Denver Broncos WR KJ Hamler (hamstring) is not participating in practice Saturday, Oct. 10.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hamler is not going to play in Week 5. He's super fast but this hamstring injury has derailed his rookie season. We'll see if he can practice next week.

6. LAC - WR Mike Williams is a GTD

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (hamstring) was limited Saturday, Oct. 10, and is questionable for Week 5. He is a game-time decision.

Williams was limited in practice again on Saturday. Anthony Lynn told reporters he doesn't want "injured players on the field" but Williams will play if he's ready.

7. DAL - CeeDee Lamb tops from slot

Source: ProFootballFocus.com

Dallas Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb leads the league with 271 receiving yards when lined up in the slot, according to Pro Football Focus data.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lamb is one of the most explosive players in the game today. The rookie first-round pick can make crazy catches seem routine and has always reminded us of Cardinals superstar WR DeAndre Hopkins. Against the Giants on Sunday, we see Lamb as a WR3 with upside.

8. BUF - Zack Moss practices in full

Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills RB Zack Moss (toe) was a full participant in practice Saturday, Oct. 10, but is listed as questionable for the team's Week 5 game Tuesday night at Tennessee.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's a good sign for the rookie's availability against the Titans on Tuesday. He should be back on the field for the Bills and that means Moss will be splitting time (getting the smaller share) with Devin Singletary. Adjust projections and expectations for both accordingly.

9. DEN - TE Noah Fant still sidelined

Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos TE Noah Fant (ankle) was not seen at practice Saturday, Oct. 10.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fant is not going to play against the Patriots on Monday. That means the Broncos will turn to Nick Vannett and Jake Butt to do more. Perhaps rookie Albert Okwuegbunam will be active for the first time this year as well.

10. DEN - QB Drew Lock is questionable

Source: DenverBroncos.com

Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock (shoulder) was limited Saturday, Oct. 10, and is questionable for Week 5 vs. the New England Patriots.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lock is getting close to getting back out there. He was throwing this week in practice and looked good. He is shaping up to be a game-time decision. We may see him rest one more week with Brett Rypien perhaps getting the start.

11. TEN - WR A.J. Brown a full participant

Source: The Athletic - John Glennon

Updating a previous report, Tennessee Titans WR A.J. Brown (knee) on Saturday, Oct. 10, was a full participant in practice and is listed as questionable for the team's Week 5 game against the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy GMs are anxiously awaiting the return of Brown, and he should be in your lineup if he does play on Tuesday. Brown has not been on the field for the Titans since the season opener.

12. TEN - QB Ryan Tannehill short on targets

Source: The Athletic - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans QB Ryan Tannehill likely will be missing several of his top targets in Week 5 Tuesday, Oct. 13, due to injury and COVID-19 protocols, and he said Saturday that WR Nick Westbrook and TE Geoff Swaim are among the pass-catchers who could see more looks.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans may get A.J. Brown back this week. That would help Tannehill greatly. We could also see Kalif Raymond do more with all these injuries...keep that in mind for DFS/GPP plays and if you need a crazy deep 'what the heck' flex.

13. BUF - WR John Brown listed as questionable

Source: BuffaloBills.com

Buffalo Bills WR John Brown (knee, calf) was a limited participant in practice Saturday, Oct. 10, and is listed as questionable for the team's Week 5 game Tuesday against the Tennessee Titans.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown has a bit of extra time with the game against the Titans pushed back to Tuesday. He's a hit-or-miss WR3/flex play for Fantasy GMs.

14. NE - CB Stephon Gilmore won't practice Saturday

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots CB Stephon Gilmore will not practice Saturday, Oct. 10, according to head coach Bill Belichick.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We won't see Gilmore in Week 5 against the Broncos since he's tested positive for COVID-19. The game has been moved to Monday, and without their top cornerback the Patriots defense will have to figure out ways to cover Tim Patrick and Jerry Jeudy.
