How To Have The Perfect Draft And MORE

Howdy Folks,

Good Thursday to you.

Remember Thursday Night Football when they kick off the regular season?

THAT'S TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY.

I get it. It sometimes doesn't feel like it's here. My friend Adam Harstad described it perfectly I think. He said, "If you've ever moved to a warm weather climate from a cold one, that first Christms catches you by surprise because it's December and 60 degrees outside." I think that's what's happening here. Our internal sports clocks are off. But that's on us as this season is HERE. Grab your friends and nail down that draft day.

We've got tons of great content for you today so let's go.

J. Wisdom Of The Crowds Rankings
I've said for years there's no smarter group of Fantasy Football people than Footballguys Subscribers. And there are a LOT of you. We're up to almost half a million subscribers for the Daily Email Update and that number will continue to go up through August.
Anytime you have that many people coupled with the kind of football knowledge you folks have, there are some powerful opportunities.
This Wisdom Of The Crowds Rankings is one of those things.
The idea is simple. We throw up two players and you click on the one you'd prefer to draft. That's it. You'll then see the results for both your vote compared to other people in the Footballguys Community. And also how it compares to our Footballguys Staff Experts.
All the while, behind the scenes our Mathguys are taking all the other votes pouring in to create a complete list for how we rank all the players at that position. Which you can see too if you're logged in at Footballguys.
It's pretty rad and we're super excited about it. Check it out and let us know what you think.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Getting the cart out is never a good sign. The most recent reports indicate that Montgomery injured his groin but has likely dodged a more serious injury. Stay tuned as more testing is being done on the young running back.

2. CHI - RB David Montgomery injury update

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears RB David Montgomery (groin) suffered what is believed to be a groin strain during practice Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is optimistic that the injury is not serious, but Montgomery is undergoing tests. Behind Montgomery on the depth chart are Tarik Cohen, Cordarrelle Patterson (who has been working with the running backs), Ryan Nall and Artavis Pierce.

3. ARI - No practice for RB Kenyan Drake

Source: The Arizona Republic - Katherine Fitzgerald

Arizona Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drake was seen in a walking boot but it's just 'nicks and bruises' according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury. The veteran back said he's 'good' on social networking earlier this week and we'll see if he can get back to practice in the near future.

4. ARI - WR DeAndre Hopkins sits out

Source: The Arizona Republic - Katherine Fitzgerald

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (undisclosed) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Hopkins is a seasoned superstar veteran. He might just be getting a day of rest here.

5. CIN - WR A.J. Green on the field Wednesday

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Tyler Dragon

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (hamstring) is on the field during practice Wednesday, Aug. 26, but appears to be a limited participant.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green is working his way back and the Bengals are wisely being cautious. We'll have to wait and see how he looks in Week 1 of the regular season but many reporters around the team speculate we could see the same old (great) Green in 2020.

6. JAX - TE Tyler Eifert showing well

Source: SI.com - John Shipley

Jacksonville Jaguars TE Tyler Eifert has shown a good rapport with QB Gardner Minshew all of camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The rapport is something good to report on. The 'looking good' part is a given so long as Eifert is healthy. We all know he's talented and can be productive but Eifert is one of the most oft-injured players in the league.

7. IND - TE Jack Doyle returns

Source: Colts.com - Andrew Walker

Indianapolis Colts TE Jack Doyle (neck) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doyle is an effective tight end for the Colts and Fantasy GMs know what to expect from him when healthy. Trey Burton is working as a backup behind him and could have fantasy relevance if Doyle were to miss time.

8. CAR - Cam Phillips joins Panthers

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Free-agent WR Cam Phillips (XFL) signed an undisclosed deal with the Carolina Panthers Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

9. NE - RB Sony Michel passes physical

Source: NFLCommunications.com

Updating a previous story, New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (foot) passed his physical Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Michel is back at practice for the Patriots and working to be their lead back. If healthy, Michel could get a starter's workload but the Patriots will still use other backs in a rotation. Damien Harris has been a standout player in training camp and could be a solid starter if Michel has to miss time. Perhaps the second-year pro will steal some snaps here and there away from Michel in 2020.

10. NYJ - Le'Veon Bell limited Wednesday

Source: NFL.com

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) missed some snaps during practice Wednesday, Aug. 26, because of a tight hamstring.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team is wisely being cautious with Bell here. Bell said after practice that his hamstrings are fine. Expect him to be limited perhaps for the rest of camp so he doesn't aggravate the injury.

11. SEA - WR Paul Richardson at facility

Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo

Free-agent WR Paul Richardson (Washington Football Team) is at the Seattle Seahawks' facility Wednesday, Aug. 26, undergoing testing for COVID-19, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Richardson was a second-round pick for Seattle in the 2014 NFL draft and he played four seasons up in the Northwest. Injuries have held him back as a pro, both with Seattle and Washington, but Richardson can flat out fly when healthy. We'll see if Seattle brings back the veteran speedster.

12. NE - Limited practice for Devin Asiasi

Source: NBC Sports Boston - Phil Perry

New England Patriots TE Devin Asiasi (undisclosed) was limited during practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's the Patriots and it's undisclosed so who really knows what the situation is with the rookie tight end. The Patriots have two rookie tight ends, Asiasi and Dalton Keene, who are vying for spots on the depth chart. If healthy, Asiasi could be the team's primary pass-catching tight end this year.

13. TB - WR Chris Godwin does not practice

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin (undisclosed) missed his second straight practice Wednesday, Aug. 26, and has missed three of the last six practices.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep an eye on this mysterious situation. It's an undisclosed status so we can't really comment on anything as there is no clarity. Head coach Bruce Arians would not provide any details on Godwin.

14. LVR - WR Tyrell Williams sidelined again

Source: The Athletic - Tashan Reed

Las Vegas Raiders WR Tyrell Williams (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is going to try and play through this shoulder injury. He may not have to play that much with the three young receivers the Raiders have in Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards and Hunter Renfrow.

15. TEN - RB Jeremy McNichols joining Titans

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Free-agent RB Jeremy McNichols (Jaguars) agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McNichols is a camp-body type of running back with a good all-around skill set. He's looking to latch on with the team as a reserve runner and is likely to have to stand out on special teams if he wants a spot.

16. SEA - RB Chris Carson returns to practice

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks RB Chris Carson (personal) returned to practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carson has had multiple deaths in his family and that's why he's missed almost all of the practices so far. He is healthy enough to participate but the team will be wisely cautious with the veteran as Carson will be their lead back in Week 1. While he's been away, Carlos Hyde and DeeJay Dallas have been getting increased reps.

17. SF - River Cracraft expected to join 49ers

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent WR River Cracraft (Eagles) is expected to sign with the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cracraft has bounced around the league but has experience in a Shanahan-type system from his days with the Broncos. He's ultra quick but does have some drops from time to time. The 49ers are injury riddled at the position but it will still be difficult for Cracraft to make the final roster.

18. NYJ - WR Breshad Perriman, Denzel Mims sit out

Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets WR Breshad Perriman (knee) and WR Denzel Mims (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Aug. 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Perriman and Mims are supposed to be two of the top receivers for the Jets this year (along with Jamison Crowder). With both missing time it has opened things up for others on the depth chart but neither injury is currently expected to cause either player to miss time in the regular season. Fantasy GMs aren't building their rosters around the Jets passing attack but keep an eye on these two for potential end-of-the-bench help or waiver wire moves.

That'll do it for today, Folks.

And please indulge me for a second and let me say this. There's a lot of sadness and anger plus a zillion more emotions going on right now. I don't have the answers. I do believe though in following your heart and doing the next right thing. You'll know specifically what that may be. I'm going to guess in the general sense it's going to have something to do with showing empathy for your neighbor and showing them grace.

And here's the secret - We're all neighbors.

Peace and Grace to you.
