1. WAS - QB Alex Smith activated from PUP list

Source: WashingtonNFL - Twitter

The Washington Football Team activated QB Alex Smith (leg) from the Physically Unable to Perform list Sunday, Aug. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hats off to Smith for an incredible recovery. Smith still has to prove he can protect himself and move as well as he did before on the field before the team can consider starting him, but he was never supposed to get this far back in the first place. Keep tabs on him in superflex/2QB leagues.

2. DEN - Jerry Jeudy on field with starters

Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy received some snaps with the first-team offense during practice Sunday, Aug. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are going to make Jeudy and second-round pick KJ Hamler earn their snaps over Tim Patrick and DaeSean Hamilton. It's good to see Jeudy is getting them so early in camp.

3. GB - AJ Dillon the future of the backfield?

Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers RB AJ Dillon is 'built to last,' according to general manager Brian Gutekunst.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dillon's hype train is gaining steam, and Aaron Jones goal line carries could be at risk, which was the biggest part of his RB1 profile last year. Dillon will likely be moving up in the second half of drafts.

4. NYJ - RB Frank Gore back on field

Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets RB Frank Gore (hamstring) fully participated in practice Sunday, Aug. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gore will stubbornly stick around and keep anyone from having true handcuff value behind Le'Veon Bell. He could still have a good effect on fourth-round pick Lamical Perine as a quasi-coach.

5. KC - Clyde Edwards-Helaire limited

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (dehydration) was limited during practice Sunday, Aug. 16, due to dehydration.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team has been happy with the rookie's development to date and there's no reason to think he won't have the opportunity to return his new first-round draft cost since Damien Williams opted out.

6. CLE - DE Myles Garrett may return soon

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 16, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team hopes Garrett will be able to return soon.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Garrett is still a top three option at defensive end, but if this is an issue that keeps him from practicing before the season opener against Baltimore, we'll have to move him down on IDP draft boards.

7. KC - Eric Fisher in concussion protocol

Source: Kansas City Star - Herbie Teope

Kansas City Chiefs OT Eric Fisher (concussion) is in the team's concussion protocol and did not practice Sunday, Aug. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs are already replacing their right guard after Laurent Duvernay-Tardif opted out. Hopefully Fisher will be out of concussion protocol soon.

8. CAR - Keith Kirkwood to miss a few weeks

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers WR Keith Kirkwood (shoulder) will be sidelined for several weeks because of a shoulder injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kirkwood had an outside chance of making the team with his connection to Matt Rhule and third string quarterback PJ Walker, all the way back to Temple. He is candidate for injured reserve now.

9. KC - WR Sammy Watkins held out of practice

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Kansas City Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins (groin) did not practice Sunday, Aug. 16, due to a slight groin injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Groin turns to groan as we are all too used to his injuries slowing any momentum he has built in fantasy. This should cause Mecole Hardman's name to shine a little more on draft boards. Watkins was already in the double digit rounds which more than prices in his already realized injury risk.

10. BAL - Matt Skura passes physical

Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens C Matt Skura (knee) has passed his physical and is expected to take part in the team's first padded practice Monday, Aug. 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is great news for a team that is replacing a possible Hall of Famer, right guard Marshal Yanda. Skura had a serious knee injury last year but should be ready to face the Browns Week 1.

11. SF - DE Arik Armstead sits again

Source: NBC Sports Bay Area - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers DE Arik Armstead (back) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll watch this as the 49ers are thinner on the defensive line after trading DeForest Buckner to the Colts. First-round pick Javon Kinlaw will be a good two-gapper, but he can't create the penetration and disruption Buckner provided consistently. The 49ers signed Dion Jordan as a reclamation project, something to watch if Armstead misses time.

12. NYJ - Three defensive players sit out

Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini

New York Jets DE Jabari Zuniga (quadriceps) and CB Pierre Desir (hamstring) did not participate in practice Sunday, Aug. 16. CB Brian Poole also missed practice because he was dehydrated.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Desir has been out for multiple practices now, and he's supposed to be the team's #1 corner. If this issue lingers, Stefon Diggs' Week 1 matchup gets a lot sweeter.

13. TEN - No practice for S Kenny Vaccaro

Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans S Kenny Vaccaro (undisclosed) was on the field for stretching Sunday, Aug. 16, but did not participate in any of the on-field drills.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It sounds like Vaccaro's injury isn't serious. The team has a promising youngster, 2019 fourth-round pick Amani Hooker behind Vaccaro.

14. CAR - Russell Okung dealing with back issue

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers OT Russell Okung (back) left practice early because of lower back tightness, but head coach Matt Rhule said the team planned for Okung to leave early.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Okung is still on the watch list as he pondered opting out and his blood clot problem in his lungs last year puts him at higher risk of coronavirus complications. The team traded Pro Bowl guard Trai Turner for him this offseason and he's a key to Teddy Bridgewater getting time to throw to his excellent top four targets.

15. NE - Jermaine Eluemunor may be option at RT

Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots OG Jermaine Eluemunor is expected to compete for the starting right tackle job during training camp even though he has been considered a guard by the team.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots bumped Baltimore's sixth round pick to a fourth to get Eluemenor, so they will give him a shot to get a return on their investment. Korey Cunningham and 2019 third round pick Yodny Cajuste (who Reiss calls the odds on favorite) are the other candidates.

16. HOU - HOU values S Eric Murray's versatility

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans S Eric Murray is expected to be featured as a starting safety in multiple defensive alignments this season and will also likely be used as a part of the kickoff coverage team and as a personal protector on the punt team, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Murray was signed to a three-year, 18 million dollar deal by Bill O'Brien despite only starting 15 games in his career. It's not a surprise that O'Brien is putting him in the starting lineup, but he could be a target for opposing quarterbacks in coverage, including if he lines up in the slot.

17. NO - Deonte Harris ready to practice

Source: NFLCommunications.com

New Orleans Saints WR Deonte Harris was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday, Aug. 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Harris provided a spark as a returner last year and could have a marginally larger role on offense this year.
