1. KC - Clyde Edwards-Helaire with starters

Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire took the field with the starters as the featured back Friday, Aug. 14, in the first practice period of full-team drills.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

As expected. Louis Riddick of ESPN indicated that the team is very happy with his progress before the pads went on, and there's no reason to think he won't have every opportunity to live up to his first round ADP spike after Damien Williams opted out. DeAndre Washington is the next man up behind the rookie if you want to hedge or bet against Edwards-Helaire holding up or playing up to his hype.

2. CLE - QB Baker Mayfield feeling rejuvenated

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Cleveland Browns QB Baker Mayfield said Friday, Aug. 14, he 'lost myself' in 2019 and started doubting himself after a couple of sub-par performances. Mayfield, though, said Friday that's in the past. 'In a much better state, mentally, physically. Just ready to roll,' Mayfield told reporters at training camp. 'Back to where I need to be to be the leader.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mayfield will be in a much more tightly structured offense that should set him up with deep play action passes to create success to build on. His fantasy prospects aren't bright, but this year should get his career back on track.

3. SF - TE Jordan Reed contract terms

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Updating a previous report, San Francisco TE Jordan Reed signed a one-year, $1.05 million contract. The deal also includes up to $750,000 in playing-time incentives.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed gives the 49ers a receiving dimension in two tight end sets, but shouldn't be seen as a threat to George Kittle's top two tight end value. If the 49ers can get even a half of a season out of him while the younger wide receivers are getting up to speed and Deebo Samuel is healing from his broken foot, it will be a good deal.

4. NE - RB Lamar Miller contract terms

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Updating previous report, New England Patriots RB Lamar Miller received a one-year, $1.05 million contract that includes $200,000 in guarantees with $1.5 million also available in 'achievable' incentives.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

200,000 doesn't ensure that Miller will make the team, and if Sony Michel rallies to be ready for work Week 1, the team would probably be happy to release him. Damien Harris will get the first shot to lead the backfield in practice with Miller on the PUP list.

5. SF - RB Tavon Austin, JJ Nelson expected to sign

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free agents WRs Tavon Austin (Cowboys) and JJ Nelson (Raiders) are expected to sign Friday, Aug. 14, with the San Francisco 49ers, pending results of physicals, per a league source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers clearly want to add speed since they lost Travis Benjamin to an opt out and Richie James probably won't be ready to begin the regular season. Either of these vets could make the team over Dante Pettis, who is having a quiet camp so far.

6. CLE - DE Myles Garrett, JC Tretter out with injuries

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett (hamstring) and C JC Tretter (knee) both missed practice in training camp Friday, Aug. 14. Garrett is dealing with a 'tweaked' hamstring, but head coach Kevin Stefanski said he's not seriously concerned about the injury and doesn't expect Garrett to miss much time. Tretter, meanwhile, is out after undergoing an unspecified knee procedure, and Stefanski did not have a timeline on his return.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

You don't want to see any player miss time in camp, and that goes double this year, but this injury shouldn't affect Garrett's lofty spot on IDP draft boards. Tretter is backed up by fifth round pick Nick Harris, who was a four-year starter at Washington.

7. MIN - Steven Parker claimed

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Former Miami Dolphins S Steven Parker was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Vikings Friday, Aug. 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This shows just how far the roster rehabilitation has come in Miami. The Vikings do need depth at safety, but just one year ago, the Dolphins were claiming everyone else's rejects because they were better than what they had at the end of the roster.

8. NYJ - Denzel Mims banged up

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets WR Denzel Mims (hamstring) injured his hamstring a couple of days ago while running routes, according to head coach Adam Gase.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Vyncint Smith was battling Mims to start outside opposite Breshad Perriman, but this development could lead to the team bringing back Demaryius Thomas, or signing another veteran to give them some stability at the position in case Smith isn't ready. Missing practices in this shortened camp will greatly set back Mims ability to make an impact early this year.

9. SEA - DeeJay Dallas impresses

Source: Seahawks Wire - Liz Mathews

Seattle Seahawks RB DeeJay Dallas has made a good first impression on head coach Pete Carroll. 'He's very versatile,' Carroll said. 'He catches the ball well, he runs well, runs routes real well - has a background of running routes as a receiver, has a quarterback background going back to high school.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dallas can also be a good punt returner and otherwise provide value to the team in various ways. He's on his way to making the team and potentially having a passing down role in the backfield.

10. SEA - Seattle signs two players

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Free-agent RB Patrick Carr (Seahawks) and WR Seth Dawkins (Seahawks) signed with the Seattle Seahawks Friday, Aug. 14. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Carr and Dawkins are 2020 UDFAs that the Seahawks initially signed after the draft but were released in the moves to get down to 80. Carr replaces Anthony Jones, while Dawkins is basically competing with fellow UDFA Aaron Fuller for a shot at a practice squad spot.

11. DAL - DE Tyrone Crawford off PUP

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins

Dallas Cowboys DE Tyrone Crawford (hip) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, Aug. 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crawford gives the team depth at defensive end and defensive tackle, but isn't one of the top talents on the line. With the addition of Everson Griffen and reinstatement of Aldon Smith, he isn't as needed at end this year.

12. NO - Deonte Harris on COVID list

Source: NFLCommunications.com

New Orleans Saints WR Deonte Harris was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Aug. 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Harris was supposed to get a larger role on offense this year after he flashed as a returner and in small doses on offense last year. Hopefully he won't miss the majority of the padded practices starting up.

13. SEA - RB Travis Homer doing well

Source: Seahawks Wire - Liz Mathews

Seattle Seahawks RB Travis Homer has had an incredible offseason, according to head coach Pete Carroll. 'He's just as jacked as he's ever been,' Carroll said. 'And he's the kind of kid that he's so tough and his mentality is so strong, that he's going to help us at the running back spot. He's got great perimeter speed, he's catching the ball really well, he really hits the line of scrimmage, so he's there.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Homer and 2020 fourth-round pick Deejay Dallas are both liked by the team after they battled each other for playing time at Miami in college. Both are good third down backs and special teams contributions and if Seattle tries to put either on the practice squad, they could be poached.

14. DET - QB Trevor Siemian works out

Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Free-agent QB Trevor Siemian (Jets) worked out for the Detroit Lions Friday, Aug. 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions signed Chase Daniel this offseason and also have David Blough, who is now game-tested, so this is probably just updating emergency lists with a fresh look.

15. NYJ - CB Pierre Desir misses practice

Source: SNY - Ralph Vacchiano

New York Jets CB Pierre Desir (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Aug. 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Desir is projected as a starting corner for the Jets this year in a defense that already lost CJ Mosley to an opt out. The Bills wide receivers could be in a prime spot Week 1 if this is anything but a minor hamstring injury.

16. LAR - Terrell Lewis comes off COVID list

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Darin Gantt

Los Angeles Rams LB Terrell Lewis on Friday, Aug. 14, was activated from the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lewis had first round edge talent but the NFL wasn't sure about his ability to hold up, so he fell to the third round. If he stays healthy in camp, he could have a role on passing downs with the ability to eventually be an everydown player for the Rams.

17. NYG - DE Leonard Williams comes off NFI list

Source: Newsday - Tom Rock

New York Giants DT Leonard Williams (hamstring) was removed from the Active/Non-Football Injury list Fridau, Aug. 14, and took part in practice.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is getting 16+ million this year and the Giants gave up a third round pick for him. Hopefully for their sake this is the only time he misses practices this year.

18. DEN - WR DaeSean Hamilton works with starters

Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos WR DaeSean Hamilton worked with the first-team offense during practice Friday, Aug. 14.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are having Hamilton and Tim Patrick run with the first as part of a you have to earn it program for first round pick Jerry Jeudy and second round KJ Hamler. If the draft picks don't start getting most or all of the first team snaps soon then it will be time to lower their redraft stock.
