1. SF - RB Raheem Mostert's deal gets reworked

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating an ongoing story, San Francisco 49ers Raheem Mostert will receive extra incentives and a bonus in his reworked contract, per a source. No new years were added to his deal, and Mostert is under contract for two more seasons. He is due $2.575 million in base salary and can earn an additional $2.75 million via incentives and a $300,000 bonus.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mostert wanted a raise, not a huge one, but just a bump in pay and the 49ers have obliged. Now, we'll see how Mostert works in the 49ers backfield with Tevin Coleman being his biggest competitor for touches and playing time. Jerick McKinnon is now healthy and is going to get a chance to see what he can do as well. Mostert is the first 49ers back going off the board with a current ADP of RB29 (5.11) in 12-team PPR leagues.

2. WAS - QB Alex Smith to PUP

Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Updating previous reports, Washington Football Team QB Alex Smith (leg) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 27. He'll also undergo a physical Monday, and the team will see where he is.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Placing Smith on the PUP list now means the team can place him on the PUP list at the start of the regular season if need be. Now 36-years old, Smith is trying to come back from one of the most gruesome injuries ever in league history. We're cheering for him, even if Smith only returns as a veteran backup. The team will have a better idea about his status during the month of August.

3. WAS - RB Derrius Guice gets the green light

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Washington Football Team RB Derrius Guice (knee) was cleared for football activities Monday, July 27.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Great news for Guice and the Washington Football Team here. We all know that Guice has incredible ability as a runner but he has had trouble staying healthy in the pros. Washington has a jam-packed backfield but Guice is set to be the top back...if he can stay off the injury report. Guice has a current ADP of RB34 (7.05) in 12-team PPR leagues.

4. SEA - S Jamal Adams to play on rookie deal

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Seattle Seahawks S Jamal Adams agreed to play out 2020 on his rookie deal before the Seahawks finalized the trade to land him. He'll make about $3.59 million this season, and he would be due $9.86 million in 2021 if a long-term deal isn't done.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Adams wants a new long-term deal but he chose to stay on his rookie deal just to get away from Adam Gase and the Jets. He's one of the best in the game at his position, so Adams should get a deal that makes him among the league's highest-paid safeties after this season.

5. NYG - Andrew Thomas agrees to terms

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New York Giants OT Andrew Thomas agreed to terms Monday, July 27, on a four-year, $32.345 million contract that includes a $21.1 million signing bonus, according to a source. Per NFL rules, as a first-round pick, Thomas' deal includes a team option for a fifth year. Thomas will take a physical and is expected to sign today.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is one of the most talented tackles in this draft class. He is big, physical and plays with a lot of intelligence and nuance. Thomas can identify an opponents best move and mirror him on the edge. He also plays with a calm mind and doesn't let his emotions get the best of him even though he is physical as a run-blocker. Thomas will be in line to be the starting left tackle for the Giants in 2020. If Thomas wins that spot the team would move Nate Solder over to the right side.

6. GB - DE Everson Griffen, Packers share interest

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent DE Everson Griffen (Vikings) and the Green Bay Packers have mutual interest as Griffen narrows down his choices for 2020.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Packers interest is ...interesting to say the least due to the logjam of talent they have in the front seven of their defense. Griffen could end up back with the Vikings and earlier reports indicated the Cardinals might have interest as well. Entering his 11th season as a pro, Griffen is coming off an 8.0 sack season in 2019.

7. WAS - WR Cody Latimer placed on Commissioner's list

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Washington Football Team WR Cody Latimer was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list Monday, July 27.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Back in May, Latimer was charged with assault in the second degree, menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. The veteran receiver is no lock to make Washington's final roster if/when he's off the list.

8. LAR - Cam Akers, three others agree to rookie deals

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Los Angeles Rams RB Cam Akers, WR Van Jefferson, LB Terrell Lewis and S Terrell Burgess agreed to terms Monday, July 27, on rookie contracts. None of them were first-round picks, so the deals are standard four-year contracts with slotted financial terms.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Akers is a talented rookie from Florida State who could emerge as the primary running back. He has swiftness and power to his game, and Akers does a good job of using his quick feet to make defenders miss. Rams coach Sean McVay has previously stated that he loves the RBBC the 49ers use, so expect guys like Darrell Henderson or Malcolm Brown to cut into the touches for Akers (if he wins the starting job). Akers has a current ADP of RB27 (5.08) in 12-team PPR leagues.

9. DEN - Eight players let go

Source: DenverBroncos.com - Aric DiLalla

Denver Broncos S Kahani Smith, QB Riley Neal, LB Tre' Crawford, WR Kelvin McKnight, RB Khalfani Muhammad, CB Shakial Taylor and C Nico Falah were waived Monday, July 27. The team also released DE Joel Heath.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Muhammad's days on the roster with the Broncos were numbered when they picked up LeVante Bellamy after the draft. The rookie from Western Michigan has a skill set like that of Phillip Lindsay and could end up on the team's practice squad.

Kansas City Chiefs CB Javaris Davis was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins Monday, July 27. The team also waived TE Michael Roberts (undisclosed) with a non-football injury designation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Davis was picked up as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn by the Chiefs after the draft. He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine earlier this year and could be a sub-package corner and special teams contributor for the Dolphins.

12. MIN - Justin Jefferson on COVID list

Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (illness) was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, July 27.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The first-round pick from LSU will have to wait to begin practicing. Jefferson must quarantine and receive medical clearance before he can hit the field.

13. MIN - Minnesota places four on COVID list

Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings OT Blake Brandel (illness), S Brian Cole II (illness), OG Tyler Higby (illness) and WR Justin Jefferson (illness) were placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jefferson is the rookie first-round pick out of LSU. Like all other players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, it doesn't mean Jefferson has tested positive but he might have been around others who did. All players on the list will have to be medically cleared before they can begin practicing.

14. NYG - Deandre Baker placed on exempt list

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New York Giants CB Deandre Baker was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt list Monday, July 27, a source said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This comes from the charges of paying off witnesses in an armed robbery case earlier this year. Dunbar and Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar are both on the list as their two teams wait for the legal process to take its course. Both of their roster spots could be in jeopardy.

15. SEA - Jordyn Brooks agrees to rookie deal

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Seattle Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks agreed to terms Monday, July 27, on a four-year, $12.35 million contract that includes a team option for a fifth year. Brooks will receive a $6.45 million signing bonus.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brooks has a ton of athleticism and the play range to strike from sideline to sideline. There are concerns about his game in coverage, so expect him to work diligently to improve that skill. All he does is make plays on the other side of the line of scrimmage as evidenced by his 20.0 tackles for a loss in 2019 for the Red Raiders.

16. TB - Ke'Shawn Vaughn placed on COVID list

Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ke'Shawn Vaughn (illness) was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list Monday, July 27.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Vaughn is now going to have to quarantine and receive medical clearance before he can begin practicing. The rookie is a hard-charging running back who will compete with Ronald Jones for the top spot on the depth chart.
