Howdy Folks,

Good Monday to you. I hope you enjoyed the weekend full of live sports. I can't wait for the NBA. And NFL Camps are about to be rolling. Sports are back and not a minute too soon.

We've got a ton of new content for you including Matt Waldman's Players He's Not Drafting In 2020. At least at their Average Draft Position. Plus the Shakiest Starting RB, and Chris Godwin vs Mike Evans, and more.

Now let's get to it.

A. Waldman's Players He's Not Drafting In 2020
In this issue of Matt Waldman's "The Gut Check No. 508", Matt gives you his "No Fly List" for the 2020 fantasy football season, and it doesn't spare star talents.

B. The Shakiest Starting Running Back
The Footballguys staff takes a look at which starting backs are on shaky ground.

C. Wide Receiver Showdown: Mike Evans and Chris Godwin
These two Buccaneers receivers are often found back-to-back in rankings.
We asked the Footballguys Staff: "Which wide receiver do you prefer this season? How much does the scoring system matter? Are they both worthy of these high rankings? With Tom Brady's arrival, how sure are we of each receiver's role? Is one more of a sure thing?"
This is what they said.

D. The Player's Guide to Fantasy Football During a Pandemic
Sigmund Bloom with a look at the possible issues that could arise in the NFL due to coronavirus and possible strategy adjustment in fantasy football to deal with them.

E. Our Newest Feature - Wisdom Of The Crowds Rankings
I've said for years there's no smarter group of Fantasy Football people than Footballguys Subscribers. And there are a LOT of you. We're up to almost half a million subscribers for the Daily Email Update and that number will continue to go up through August.
Anytime you have that many people coupled with the kind of football knowledge you folks have, there are some powerful opportunities.
This Wisdom Of The Crowds Rankings is one of those things.
The idea is simple. We throw up two players and you click on the one you'd prefer to draft. That's it. You'll then see the results for both your vote compared to other people in the Footballguys Community. And also how it compares to our Footballguys Staff Experts.
All the while, behind the scenes our Mathguys are taking all the other votes pouring in to create a complete list for how we rank all the players at that position. Which you can see too if you're logged in at Footballguys.
It's pretty rad and we're super excited about it. Check it out and let us know what you think.

F. Monday Injury Rounds: Preseason Week 1
Dr. Jene Bramel with updates on COVID planning protocols, analysis on Deebo Samuel, and table updating key offseason injuries.

1. MIN - RB Dalvin Cook's agent denies saying his client will report

Source: - Courtney Cronin

Updating a previous report, the agent for Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook said he had not talked to head coach Mike Zimmer about his client showing up to camp and ending his holdout, even though Zimmer had announced that Cook would report during a press conference Saturday, July 25.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook apparently did talk to his position coach Kennedy Polamalu about showing up for camp, but for now we should still treat this as a holdout and draft accordingly.

2. NYG - PK Aldrick Rosas likely to be cut

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo

The New York Giants are expected to release PK Aldrick Rosas soon, according to multiple sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rosas is out after a so-so 2019 and hit-and-run incident in the offseason. Chandler Catanzaro is in, but Joe Judge could also look to reunite with Stephen Gostkowski as Catanzaro is just a journeyman and no guarantee to be good enough to win the job.

3. SEA - DE Branden Jackson sent packing

Source: The Oregonian - Aaron Fentress

Seattle Seahawks DE Branden Jackson was released Sunday, July 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson has been a spot starter and useful depth for Seattle at times, but the team drafted two edge rushers and his 2.1 million dollar deal was too much for a team that just might be trying to free up cap space to get Jadeveon Clowney after all.

4. PHI - JJ Arcega-Whiteside in a better spot?

Source: - Jimmy Kempski

Philadelphia Eagles WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside should 'be able to focus on the X position' this season and could start if WR Alshon Jeffery (foot) is not ready for the start of the year, according to Jimmy Kempski of

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Arcega-Whiteside is a really cheap post-hype sleeper who could get a starting spot by default. He also got some snaps by default last year and didn't do much with them, but keep him on your waiver wire watch list just in case. It's a good time to buy low in dynasty if you liked him coming out of Stanford.

5. LAC - Two rookie WRs sign deals

Los Angeles Chargers fifth-round draft choice WR Joe Reed and seventh-round draft choice WR K.J. Hill signed four-year contracts with the Chargers Saturday, July 25. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed can be a viable WR/RB tweener and make the final roster with special teams contribution. Hill is an excellent route running slot receiver. The Chargers don't have much behind Mike Williams and Keenan Allen, so these are names to monitor in deep dynasty leagues.

6. LAC - Joshua Kelley reaches deal

Los Angeles Chargers fourth-round draft choice RB Joshua Kelley agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Chargers Saturday, July 25. Financial terms were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelley could become the #2 back on the team in short order if Justin Jackson can't stay healthy. Even if Jackson does stay healthy, Kelley could be the goal line back and get on the redraft fantasy radar this year.

7. ARI - Arizona releases nine players

Source: - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals QB Drew Anderson, DE T.J. Carter, OT Jackson Dennis, OG Drew Dickinson, LB Vontarrius Dora, WR Shane Leatherbury, WR Devin Phelps, CB Jarren Williams and CB Bejour Wilson were released Sunday, July 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals can work together as one team instead of a split squad after getting down to 80 players. Dora has been on and off of the Cardinals roster over the last few years, but they decided there wasn't enough there to make him worth carrying into camp.

8. SEA - Seattle trims eight from roster

Source: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar

Seattle Seahawks C Joey Hunt, RB Patrick Carr, WR Seth Dawkins, OGs Kahlil McKenzie and Jordan Roos, CB Josh Norwood, LB Sutton Smith and TE Dominick Wood-Anderson were waived Sunday, July 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks had Hunt start eight games last year, but it looks like free agent BJ Finney will replace him as the team deemed him expendable in the push to get down to 80.

9. NE - New England releases nine players

Source: The Boston Globe - Jim McBride

New England Patriots QB J'Mar Smith, QB Brian Lewerke, WR Isaiah Zuber, WR Sean Riley, WR Will Hastings, LB Kyahva Tezino, DT Courtney Wallace, S Adarius Pickett and S Malik Gant were released Sunday, July 26, according to a source.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hastings was Jarrett Stidham's slot receiver at Auburn. Lewerke could still end up on a practice squad somewhere but the Patriots didn't feel the need to carry another quarterback into camp after signing Cam Newton. They got down to 80 so they can avoid split squad work.

10. PHI - Philadelphia drops five from roster

Philadelphia Eagles WRs Shelton Gibson and Marcus Green, DE Daeshon Hall, DT Albert Huggins and CB Tremon Smith were waived Sunday, July 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gibson was a fifth round pick in 2017 but didn't make the team in 2019. He was brought back for the wild card game last season was deemed expendable in the push to get to 80 players to avoid split squad sessions.

11. MIN - DE Everson Griffen's status uncertain

Source: St. Paul Pioneer Press - Chris Tomasson

Free-agent DE Everson Griffen (Vikings) is a player that Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer would like to re-sign, but Zimmer said he is not sure if the two sides are talking at this time.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Earlier in the offseason it looked like Griffen wasn't going to come back to the Vikings, but his price might have dropped enough to make him more palatable to Minnesota and the lack of interest could motivate him to return to a known situation. If Griffen does return, he'll close the door on a Ifeadi Odenigbo breakout opposite Danielle Hunter.

12. SEA - DE Jadeveon Clowney no longer an option?

Source: - Jeremy Fowler

Free-agent DE Jadeveon Clowney (Seahawks) likely will not be an option for the Seattle Seahawks moving forward after the team acquired S Jamal Adams, according to sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Titans should be considered a favorite to get Clowney at this point, but he also might wait to see if a team develops a need at edge rusher during camp.
