Jets | Rodgers feeling good    Sat Feb 10, 03:44 PM

Rich Cimini, from ESPN.com, reports New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers is feeling good post-Achilles' surgery. On Mr. Joe Rogan's podcast, Rodgers said "It feels good. I can do everything except sprint at a top speed."

Footballguys view: That's the way Rodgers has been feeling for some time. It's a make-or-break season for HC Robert Saleh and the Jets in 2024. We'll see if Rodgers can stay healthy and play like he used to. In his final games with the Packers (2022), Rodgers didn't look quite like himself.

Jets | Owner sends a message    Sat Feb 10, 03:41 PM

Tom Rock, from Newsday, reports New York Jets owner Woody Johnson 'sent a message' to his coaching staff about his expectations for the 2024 season. "They all got the message. This is the time to go. We have to produce this year. We have to produce this year.... It's not a playoff mandate, but we have to do a lot better than 7 (wins)." Johnson is quoted in the report.

Footballguys view: It's not playoffs-or-bust for HC Robert Saleh, but it kind of is. They'll have a healthy Aaron Rodgers, and they need to make a run with at least double-digit wins.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers interested in more than a year    Mon Jan 8, 10:44 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers said Monday, Jan. 8, he'd like 'this to be more than just next year.'

Footballguys view: Rodgers is going to play in 2024, but we'll see if he can make it through the season. There's always teases with the veteran, but it would be nice to see results - especially if you're a Jets fan who has to wait until the fall to see him in game action. Playing beyond 2024 sounds great, but we'll see if it actually comes to fruition with Rodgers.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers activated from IR    Wed Dec 20, 11:41 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Dec. 20.

Footballguys view: Rodgers is going to practice with the team, but he's unlikely to make it back to the field for a regular season game. The Jets are out of playoff contention, and Rodgers wants to be ready for the 2024 season so he doesn't need to risk any sort of setback. We'll see if the Jets move on from HC Robert Saleh and OC Nathaniel Hackett this offseason.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers discusses NFL future    Tue Dec 19, 03:36 PM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) acknowledged that he will not play again during the 2023 season on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Rodgers added that he feels as if the 2023 season was a 'lost year' for him and that he 'wanted at least two years (before retiring).''I wanted at least two years, I feel like this year is kind of a lost year. I only played a couple of snaps, wasn't able to go out there and prove what I'm capable of and see what we're capable of as a team. I don't think next year (2024) will be my last year. With some of the things that I've learned over the last year in taking care of my body and surrounding myself with some great people who have been helping me with my nutrition and my functional training at an acute level. I feel like I can play more years and be effective into my 40s, which is crazy because I thought I would be sitting on my couch somewhere at 40, but now I want to be a starter at 40, I want to be a starter at 41. I want to see what I can get out of this body,' Rodgers said on The Pat McAfee Show.

Footballguys view: Rodgers will return in 2024 for one last hurrah. The Jets may have a different coaching staff this offseason, so we'll have to see who is around him when he does get back to the football field. Rodgers' game seemed to be on the decline, so it will be interesting to see what he has left in the tank when the games count in September 2024.

RB Israel Abanikanda (illness) and RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) were limited in practice on Friday and are listed as questionable.   Jets | Aaron Rodgers targeting mid-December return    Tue Nov 14, 12:37 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) said Sunday, Nov. 13 on the NBC telecast that he is aiming for a return from the reserve/injured list in mid-December.

Footballguys view: Rodgers is feeling great in his recovery, and coming back the same season from an Achilles' injury would be a miracle. The Jets would have to be in the playoff hunt if Rodgers is going to return before Christmas. If the team is out of it, then Rodgers is likely to stay shut down until the 2024 season. Achilles' injuries usually take around a year to recover from, so perhaps it's best to just see him next year instead of rushing him back in 2023.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers believes he's back soon    Tue Nov 7, 11:26 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) was caught by ESPN microphones telling Los Angeles Chargers S Derwin James that he believes he'll be back in a few weeks.

Footballguys view: Rodgers is pushing to make a miraculous comeback for the ages. Injured just a handful of plays into Week 1, Rodgers has been rehabbing his Achilles' since then. With a 4-4 record, the Jets are trying to stay in the mix. Zach Wilson is not a great option at quarterback, but that Jets defense can keep them in games (for the most part). We'll see if the team can hang around the playoff picture by the time Rodgers could come back - if he can come back - this year.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers 'ahead of schedule'    Wed Oct 18, 09:41 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) is 'obviously, ahead of schedule' in his rehab from a ruptured Achilles but still has several hurdles to clear, he said on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Rodgers did not give a timeline for his return, though.

Footballguys view: Rodgers is trying to make it back by the end of the season. That sounds incredulous, but we give him credit for trying. The most optimistic timeline would be a return in January. We'll see if the Jets can stay in it that long for the veteran to get back out there.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers rehab update    Sat Oct 14, 12:03 PM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) is able to walk without crutches as he continues to recover from a torn Achilles' tendon, the team revealed on Thursday, Oct. 12.

Footballguys view: Rodgers is trying to make it back this season. "There's nothing normal about how I'm attacking this rehab," Rodgers, 39, told ESPN last week. If the Jets are nosing around the playoffs, Rodgers could possibly return in January. Most likely, we'll just have to wait and see Rodgers next season.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers eyeing return    Wed Oct 4, 09:51 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles) said he's attacking his rehab with an eye on returning late in the season. Rodgers said he's ahead of protocols thus far, and while normal protocols call for being in a boot for six weeks - he was in a shoe in 13 days. Rodgers also revealed he's dealing with a deltoid issue, an ankle ligament, alongside the Achilles tear.

Footballguys view: The Jets are 1-3, so their hopes of making a run to the postseason are quite slim. It's noble that Rodgers wants to push to be out there, but his season may be lost after all. That means Jets fans will have to wait for his return in 2024.

Packers | Green Bay receiving second-rounder    Tue Sep 12, 11:05 AM

New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles') being done for the season means the Jets will owe the Green Bay Packers a second-round pick in 2024. It would have been a first-round pick if Rodgers played 65 percent of the snaps.

Footballguys view: The Packers moved on from Rodgers, and we'll see what Jordan Love continues to do as their new starter. The sting of Rodgers' injury is felt more than just in New York, as a first-round pick - even a mid- or late-first - would have been nice to receive for his services.

Jets | Aaron Rodgers out for season    Tue Sep 12, 11:04 AM

Updating previous reports, New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (Achilles') suffered a complete tear of his left Achilles' and will miss the rest of the season.

Footballguys view: Zach Wilson takes over as the Jets' starter. Rodgers was supposed to be the answer, and now he'll miss the 2023 season and try to get back out there in 2024. It's a sad injury considering Rodgers seemed reenergized to be playing for a new team after things got stale with the Packers. There is a chance that Rodgers hangs up his cleats, but that's getting too far ahead of things. For now, Zach Wilson is the Jets' starter and this is a downgrade for pass-catchers in this offense like WR Garrett Wilson.
