The best time of the year is almost here - your fantasy league's draft day! In order to succeed, you'll need to manage your time well. Here, we'll review how to best prep for your upcoming draft, depending on how much time you have available.
1 Minute Left Before Draft
In the one minute you have to prepare, you should:
- Go to David Dodd's Top 300 Draft list for either Non-PPR leagues: or PPR leagues: and print out a copy to match your league scoring.
While not customized exactly to your scoring and roster rules, these fundamental draft lists will get you through most any league's draft.
5 Minutes Left Before the Draft
Planning ahead isn't a strong suit of yours, but at least you left yourself more time than the 1 Minute Left guy.
- Go to Dodd's Top 300 Draft list for either Non-PPR leagues: or PPR leagues: and print out a copy to match your league scoring.
- Review of the most recent Injury Rounds: Preseason Week X article by Dr. Jene Bramel HERE:
- Write notes on guys who are injured on your 300 player draft sheet from Dodds.
30 Minutes Left Before the Draft
- Go to the Cheatsheet generator (for fairly standard leagues) and get yourself a customized draft list. Print it out.
- Read Bramel's Injury Rounds article linked above.
- Review the Footballguys.com Staff Rankings to see where the Staff consensus is on players you may have doubts about
1 Hour Left Before Draft
Do the steps above but more in-depth OR if you are familiar with the Draft Dominator Online and comfortable using it:
- Go to the Draft Dominator Online and log in with your Footballguys.com username and password.
- Set up your league parameters as described in the Quick Start Guide and then:
- Do a couple of quick mock drafts.
- Switch the draft to Real draft and get ready to crush the competition in your league!
Several Hours Left Before Draft
Now you are in a place to leverage the many drafting tools that Footballguys.com Offers.
- Print out Dodd's Top 300 list.
- Read through Bramel's injury analysis.
- Set up your Draft Dominator Online and do some mock drafts.
- Review the Footballguys.com Staff Rankings to see where the Staff consensus is on players you may have doubts about
- Read through some of Jeff Pasquino's strategy articles
- If you are doing an Auction style draft, read Dodd's Perfect Auction and Auction Values articles.

Days Left Before the Draft
This is ideal, obviously - you can:
- Comb through all the articles on the site that pertain to your league.
- Check out the Advanced Procedures you can use in Draft Dominator Online like Global Watch/Avoid Lists and Advanced Player Lists (Complimentary Players and Player Tiers) and then:
- Customize Draft Dominator to suit your particular drafting style.
- Read and understand the importance of preseason injury reports.
